Melissa Hayward-Tucker was caught in the grip of addiction for years, a victim of drugs and alcohol from her early teens. Growing up in a turbulent world of abandonment, domestic violence, and abuse, she faced trauma most never know. By age fourteen, she was using crack cocaine, and her life spiraled into darkness on the dangerous streets of Houston and Los Angeles, where she was left homeless, addicted, and surrounded by violence. But on January 29, 2001, in her darkest hour, she heard a voice that sparked hope—a call to begin a journey of healing. Against all odds, she broke free from the chains that bound her and found purpose. In her powerful new book, *Caught Up: The Story of a Drug Addict's Return to Her Roots*, Melissa recounts every raw, harrowing detail of her life in addiction, sharing the pain, trauma, and the profound resilience it took to overcome. Today, Melissa is a wife, mother, grandmother, author, speaker, and the founder of God's Vessel Ministries. As a gospel artist signed with Genesoul Entertainment, she has won awards for songs that inspire and uplift, including the London MP3 Music Award for “Praize Praize” and the Indie Music Channel Award for “Transformed.” Her latest single, *Freedom Ring*, is available on all platforms, celebrating her liberation and calling others to find theirs. With a deep passion for faith, Melissa is devoted to helping women transform their lives through God's truth and power. She believes wholeheartedly in the power of prayer and lives as a testament to God's ability to restore and redeem. HELP SUPPORT OUR FIGHT AGAINST ADDICTION. Thu. 1 pm EDT – This week on Courageous Conversations with Sheree, it’s another double hitter with Two Time Indie Music Channel Awards Winner and Savannah native Willie Jackson!!! Like Blues, Country and Gospel? Join us and listen LIVE! Willie Jackson is a native son of Savannah, GA; 10/24/2019 Willie Jackson is a native son of Savannah, GA; the youngest of the 6 children born to the late, great Reverend Jackson and, his wife, Annie Pearl originally from Millen Georgia. Willie’s early years in church had him well-acquainted with music as vital to the human experience; he often found himself playing drums, singing in choirs, raising hymns and providing whatever music was necessary – whether or not he had the training! Willie has always been a songwriter in his free time while working to support his family. A tragic accident in 2009 ended his previous career and left him differently abled. Willie found himself with an above-the-knee amputation, and though he had spent his life until that point as an active athletic man, he saw this life-changing event as an opportunity to reinvent himself rather than sit out on life. He began to write in earnest and started learning bass guitar. Willie’s original music combines his clever lyrics with rhythms of South Georgia’straditional soul stirring blues. He can be heard at various venues in the Coastal Empire; sometimes with a three-piece group while other times he has 4 or 5 musicians accompany his powerful blues vocals. He has entertained on the stage at the beautifully refurbished Tybee Post Theater, was a featured artist at the 2019 Piccolo Spoleto Festival as well as at the 22nd Carolina Downhome Blues Festival and opened for Mac Arnold, former bass player for the legendary Muddy Waters and accomplished blues musician in his own right, at the Stage on Bay. Willie is currently in the studio working on a full-length CD of original blues music. His original “I’m Your Landlord” won him two awards at the 2019 Indie Music ChannelAwards (@ Clive Davis Arena at the Grammy Museum in L.A.) for both Best Blues Song and Best Blues Song Writer! This award-winning song, which humorously narrates the behaviors of a shady landlord, exemplifies rocking traditional blues sounds and will be included on his new CD expected to be released soon. Currently, he has an EP available featuring six original songs which pair elements of traditional blues with musings on contemporary life and living. Willie enjoys performing live every bit as much as the audiences enjoy his outstanding vocals sometimes used for on-the-spot improvisational song writing, and his jocular MC engagement between songs. He has a knack for ensuring people have a good time and creating an intimate, familiar feeling amidst a venue of strangers. Live performances treat listeners to covers of some of the greats like Muddy Waters, BB King, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Eric Clapton along with Willie’s latest original songs. Willie is a prolific songwriter, wordsmithing songs across genres – blues, country and gospel. He looks forward to future opportunities.

Today's guest on I Am Refocused Podcast is Music Artist Christa Deánā BioChrista Deánā (Duh-nay) is a Christian Singer/Songwriter from Philadelphia who sings with conviction and power. Her songs speak to the journey of a woman after God's own heart. Each song is deeply rooted in a personal, yet extremely vulnerable relationship with God. It's the beauty and emotion in her voice and the candor in her lyrics that help inspire others to go all the way, every day, with God.Dedicating herself to music as a child, she won first place in the Young Artist Competition for the city of Allentown, PA. A gifted writer, Christa Deana performed her first original song at 11 and went on to write over 50 more. Her vocal ability also developed young, securing her lead oratorios from classics such as Handel’s Messiah, Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Vivaldi’s Gloria, and lead songs in Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Pirates of Penzance. In addition to writing and singing, she has toured with several choirs that took her to Romania, Turkey, France, Spain, England, and all over the US. During this journey she found a love for conducting and excelled as a choir director for several choirs. She has worked with The Lesser Light Collective as a soloist, writer, and conductor, directing the choir for their performance at Washington Adventist University.Christa Deánā inherited perfect pitch, excellent natural timing, a powerful vocal instrument and a creative soul. But she’s been diligent to cultivate her gifts, obtaining her music education degree from the University of Valley Forge. Not content to simply make her own music, she pulls beautiful music out of her students and collaborators. She is currently a music educator and worship leader at various facilities and churches. She is also the co-owner for ChristaCourt Productions. Christa’s February 2018 single, “If God Doesn’t Want It” received an Indie Music Channel Award nomination, and the lyric video spent 3 weeks in the Beat 100 Top 10. Award-winning Christian artist Rahn Anthoni took the international press and airwaves by storm with 2017's most inspirational track, “I'll Trust You.” The song earned him a Radio Music Award and an Indie Music Channel Award, and numerous other accolades, including the Man-Up Award, for his charity work.  Rahn's history with inspirational music has helped him develop a positive relationship with God and the world of song. Despite the heartbreaking circumstances surrounding the death of his special needs son, Aaron Hatcher, Rahn has been able to turn tragedy to triumph, delivering a message of hope and love to the masses.   Encouraged by the support the country music world showed his r&b-flavored music, Rahn has returned with an ambitious new “country soul” tune, that's reminiscent of Darius Rucker, Charley Pride and other soulful country artists. “Highway” was written by Rahn, and it tells of his journey from tragedy to triumph, looking back on the story of his life. It will be released on MTS Records in January 2018.   Then tragedy struck...After losing his special needs son to abuse, allegedly by his son's teacher, Anthoni has become an advocate for special needs kids. The Aaron Hatcher Awards are given every year, in honor of his late son, Aaron Hatcher. His son also inspired him to start the Special Needs Rock Awards and They Can't Talk But We Can, a non-profit organization providing advocacy for children with disabilities.  For more information, visit http://www.theycanttalkbutwecaninc.org/.   Anthoni is also CEO of WMQGRadio.com The Source, the number #1 internet radio station giving back to the Old Skool music.
