Celebrity makeup artist and founder of Ciele Cosmetics Nikki DeRoest joins me for a very fun, very practical beauty episode all about the makeup techniques that actually make a difference. Nikki has spent years working with some of the most recognizable faces in Hollywood, so we get into what celebrity skin really looks like, how she preps skin before makeup, and the tricks that make makeup look polished, expensive and actually last.We talk about the makeup practices that can unintentionally age you, how to keep concealer from settling into under-eye lines, what most people struggle with when doing their own makeup, and where you should—and absolutely should not—spend your money. Nikki also shares her favorite products, her signature skin and makeup prep, tips for undoing years of tanning-bed damage, and the small techniques that can completely change the way your makeup looks. You can find Nikki @nikkideroest on InstagramThanks to my sponsors:Nutrafol is offering our listeners $10 off your first month's subscription and free shipping when you visit Nutrafol.com and enter promo code BLONDEHead to PaulasChoice.com and use code WELL25 for 25% off your order of $100 or more.Visit WACOAL.com and use code WELL at checkout for 10% off your first purchase.Go to TM.org/well to find a certified teacher near you and learn more about getting started.Be slick with the göt2b Wax Stick! Katie shares how a single Instagram question sparked the idea for her brand, KJH.Brand, now in Sephora and, until recently, entirely self-funded. (“It's quite scary,” she says of taking on investment.) We also get into why education is at the heart of everything she makes, her pet peeve about the term “self-taught,” the A-list founder group chat that keeps her sane, what it's like building a business with her husband, Tarek, and what interests her beyond beauty.More from Fat MascaraInstagram: @fatmascara @jessicamatlinShop the products mentioned on Fat Mascara: https://shopmy.us/shop/fatmascaraPrivate Facebook Group: Fat Mascara Raising a WandSubmit a Raise a Wand product recommendation, guest suggestion, or just say hello: info@fatmascara.comProduction for this Podcast Provided by Redd Rock MusicIG: @reddrockmusicwww.reddrockmusic.com Hosted on Acast. This week I sit down with Gucci Westman, the legendary makeup artist behind some of the most recognizable faces in Hollywood and on the runway, and the founder of Westman Atelier. Gucci spent decades shaping how we think about beauty, from red carpets to her years leading artistry at Revlon and Lancôme, before creating a luxury clean makeup line that lives in every chic woman's bag. We talk about how she got her start, what she's learned from working on faces for thirty years, why skin always comes first, and what it really takes to build a brand on your own terms. Plus, her quick tricks for looking rested when you are anything but, the products she never travels without, and how she balances creativity, business, and family. Gucci is warm, funny, and generous with her secrets, and I promise you'll walk away looking at your makeup bag differently.Produced by Dear MediaSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Mally Roncal is a celebrity makeup artist who has worked with Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez, Rihanna, Celine Dion, and so many more, and the founder of Mally Beauty.A big theme in Mally's life is learning not to make herself smaller. We get into the moments that made her question whether she should tone herself down, how she learned to see what made her different as a strength, and what working with some of the biggest women in entertainment taught her about confidence, intuition, and listening to her gut. Then there's the business story. Mally launched Mally Beauty on QVC in 2005. We talk about what it actually looked like building a company for nearly two decades, becoming a mom while growing the business, raising three daughters, and the harder chapters that taught her about trust and what happens when you hand parts of your company over to other people.Mally has experienced loss, rejection, setbacks, and plenty of moments that could have made her bitter or afraid, but instead she's built a practice around gratitude, perspective, and choosing her energy over and over again. We get into how to trust your instincts, how to build without losing the people and parts of life that matter most, how to recover when things don't go according to plan, and why authenticity can become one of your biggest advantages in both business and life.In this episode, we'll talk to Mally about:* How losing her mother shaped her gratitude and courage. Before planners and podcasting, I was a wedding makeup artist. I did hundreds of faces, and these are 10 things I’d want you to know to get more out of your everyday makeup, without replacing your entire makeup bag. This is for you if: You want to elevate your everyday makeup look without spending money You learnt makeup from a Maybelline mousse pot and a lot of guessing, and no one's ever actually shown you You've got a drawer full of products and your foundation still somehow ends up pink, grey, or in your hairline You're 30-plus and your face looks tired in a way it didn't used to, and you want an instant lift Stay til the end for the biggest hack that will save you time and tears Follow Stephing Up I'm Steph Pase, your (somewhat) organised bestie in your ears. This podcast is about growth that's messy, building a life that actually fits you, and what happens when life doesn't go to plan. We'll talk mental health, motherhood, business, ADHD and how to stop being such an asshole to yourself. New episodes drop every Monday morning. So set your reminder. Pop in your headphones. Because we're Stephing Up together. If today's episode helped, leaving a review on Apple Podcasts or Spotify is honestly the best thing you can do to help us reach more people. . Young people today tend to choose modern makeup artists (MUAs) over traditional bridal makeup specialists (*paes* artists). According to Dr. Dewi Cahya Ambarawati—a lecturer, cultural expert, and performer from Yogyakarta—these modern MUAs focus primarily on achieving a radiant, glowing complexion; they even frequently use colored contact lenses to give the bride a distinctive look.
There's an interesting tension happening in the beauty industry today around makeup. Last year, consumer beauty publications and industry executives heralded 2026 as the year bold, maximalist makeup would return. Top publications predicted a shift away from the persistent "clean girl aesthetic" that entered the zeitgeist around 2021 toward bolder, brighter makeup. Meanwhile, executives from Sephora, Ulta Beauty and Revlon told Glossy they were betting big on a return to more expressive makeup in 2026. But that hasn't happened at scale – at least not yet. Instead, sales at conglomerates that report earnings, like L'Oréal Group and E.l.f. Beauty, tell us that top-selling categories in 2026 remain the mainstays of "no-makeup makeup," like lip gloss, balm and liner; complexion products, like tinted sunscreen, blush, bronzer, and setting spray; and mascara. For today's episode of the Glossy Beauty Podcast, host Lexy Lebsack sat down with veteran celebrity makeup artist Jamie Greenberg to unpack exactly where makeup is headed next. Greenberg has been a working makeup artist for more than 20 years. Her client list today includes Rashida Jones, Kaley Cuoco, Chelsea Handler, Tracee Ellis Ross and Kristen Stewart, among others. Greenberg is also the founder of the DTC makeup line Jamie Makeup, known best for its blush/highlighter hybrid product called Blighlighter and spray makeup remover named B.F.M.R. Mist. She's also a prolific social media creator with more than 700,000 followers across TikTok and Instagram, and she runs a monthly subscription beauty box called SwagBag that features her latest favorite products from a wide array of brands. Press play now for a candid conversation on where makeup is headed, including the trends and signals Greenberg is paying attention to now.
This week Nicola and Di chat with the bubbly, gorgeous Amanda Ramsay, an award-winning makeup artist who's worked with some of the biggest names in the Australian entertainment industry. Amanda has worked across TV, weddings and events, but for her, beauty has always gone far beyond the makeup itself. It's about confidence, self-care, and feeling good from the inside out. We chat to Amanda about the light bulb moment that changed the course of her career when she walked into a beauty retailer as a new mum in her early 40s and realised that no one was serving women 40 plus. That moment sparked what would become a mission to help thousands of women feel confident and seen, through in-person classes, online courses, and uncomplicated, real-world techniques that actually work at this stage of life. We dive deep into all things skincare and makeup, from why hydration is the real key to a glowing complexion, to Amanda's "less is more" philosophy when it comes to texture and coverage. She shares her favourite tricks for looking instantly more awake, why blush and a strong brow can transform your whole face, and her take on lip liners, stains and fillers for a fuller-looking pout without looking overdone. We also talk about the emotional side of beauty, the importance of finding your own features to love rather than fixate on, and why reinvention can be one of the most empowering things a woman can do. Amanda's advice throughout is simple, practical and full of heart, and we walked away with tips we can't wait to try. We had so much fun chatting with Amanda. She's warm, generous and clearly loves helping women feel their best. We hope you enjoy this episode as much as we did! Bobbi Brown, Founder of Jones Road Beauty, joins Sam fresh off the plane from Paris to discuss her new book, Still Bobbi, and to explore her career trajectory from behind-the-scenes makeup artist to two-time cosmetic company CEO. Bobbi talks about how some of her most important choices were choosing men—both her husband, who she knew within weeks was “the one” and Leonard Lauder, who she decided to sell her eponymous makeup brand to when it wasn't even for sale. They talk about the importance of knowing who you are and when to stop trying out other personas, why at their age it's necessary to prioritize being able to lift your own suitcase, and the common sense of “no-makeup makeup.” Bobbi tells Sam she is a life-long “non-agonizer” and how her big regret in life not getting a photo with Tammy Faye Baker when she had the chance, and how in her 60s she's become an accidental Tik Tok influencer. Erin Parsons is not a makeup artist anymore. On this episode of Fat Mascara, she explains why she quit the business at the very top, making the leap into full-time content creation in her 40s. Her niche: deep-diving into beauty history and finding a completely new audience, from 13-year-olds to makeup artists to "guys who don't care about makeup at all." ("I figured out the algorithm," she says.) Her most important contribution may just be The Makeup Archive (themakeuparchive.org), a nonprofit Parsons spent years building to research, preserve, and share beauty history. Tanielle Jai got in trouble as a kid for constantly playing with makeup — turns out that was just the beginning. She went on to become one of Australia's most sought-after makeup artists, developing the caramel-and-coffee monochromatic looks that the internet would eventually dub "latte makeup," and has since built her own namesake brand around Bronzour, her cult cream bronzer that sculpts without going orange. Send us Fan MailIn this episode of Skin Anarchy, Dr. Ekta Yadav sits down with Aditya Madiraju for a conversation that moves far beyond beauty tutorials and social media trends. What unfolds is a thoughtful discussion about identity, representation, creativity, and the realities of building a public career in an algorithm-driven world. Before becoming one of the most recognizable voices in beauty content creation, Aditya spent years working in microbiology, finance, and risk management—an unconventional path that reflects one of the episode's central themes: the tension between stability and fulfillment. Growing up in a South Asian household where traditional careers were often prioritized, choosing beauty and content creation felt radical. Yet rather than framing that tension with resentment, Aditya approaches it with empathy, recognizing the sacrifices that allowed his generation the freedom to pursue creative work. The conversation also explores the emotional weight of visibility online. Aditya reflects candidly on navigating the internet as a South Asian creator, from stereotypes and racism to the pressure of constantly representing more than just himself. His perspective on humor, resilience, and composure adds nuance to larger conversations around race, beauty, and digital culture. At the same time, the episode celebrates the role of beauty as joy and self-expression. For Aditya, makeup is deeply technical—but it's also personal, cultural, and meant to be enjoyed without justification. Throughout the conversation, he returns to a larger idea: visibility matters because it expands what feels possible for the next generation. Listen to the full episode to hear Aditya Madiraju discuss beauty, identity, representation, and what it really means to build authenticity online.Learn more about Aditya MadirajuDon't forget to subscribe to Skin Anarchy on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or your preferred platform.Reach out to us through email with any questions.Sign up for our newsletter!Shop all our episodes and products mentioned through our ShopMy Shelf!Support the show

Send me a DM here (it doesn't let me respond), OR email me: imagineabetterworld2020@gmail.comToday I'm honored to introduce you all to: Ritual abuse, mind control and organized abuse survivor and overcomer turned whistleblower, loving mother, content creator and educator, and the brightest soul lighting the darkness on fire: Della Born into a whirlwind of deception and terror in the shadow of Hollywood's false glamour, Della and her twin sister entered a world poisoned by their father's fractured mind and predatory legacy. A man who masked unimaginable cruelty behind charm, who carried the scars of his own abused childhood yet chose to inflict fresh wounds, who wielded knives, guns, blood, and betrayal against the very family he created. From mere weeks old, Della endured horrors no child should ever know: violations in darkness, motel nightmares, basement imprisonments, fragmented memories of ritualistic chambers, underground tunnels, child sacrifices, and encounters with figures of power and fear. Systems failed - biased courts, bribed judges, dismissed reports to the FBI, and therapists who turned away from the truth. The programming lingered like invisible chains, blurring boundaries and drawing further pain. PTSD crashed like tidal waves during motherhood, postpartum depression reopening old wounds. Isolation deepened; support evaporated. Yet through every shattering blow, Della refused to shatter completely.Instead, she rose.Through relentless self-reflection, pattern-breaking courage, and the raw determination to learn what no one taught - healthy boundaries, self-worth, the right to be believed - agony transformed into armor. Every day, life is chosen, not because it comes easily, but because she chose to break the cycle for her own children and for other survivors. Battles for breath, healing, and justice turn solitary struggles into a public crusade. By speaking out, Della shatters the silence that smothers so many survivors of childhood and ritualistic abuse. The declaration rings clear: No one stands alone, voices matter, shame holds no power, and isolation ends here.Della's journey reminds the world that survivors are not defined by what was done to them, but by what they choose to become in spite of it. She is living proof that the human soul can endure the unimaginable and still choose beauty, still choose love, still choose to stand up and say, "This stops with me." In her quiet victories over each sunrise, in her loud advocacy for the voiceless, in her unwavering commitment to break cycles that tried to break her, Della redefines what victory looks like. It is not the erasure of scars - it is the decision to wear them as badges of a war already won, and to use that hard-earned wisdom to light the way for those still walking through the night.CONNECT WITH DELLA: TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@dailydella6?lang=enDonate: https://fundraising.womensaid.ie/fundraisers/dallairedaily/iwd-coffee-morningCONNECT WITH EMMA:YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@imaginationpodcastofficialEMAIL: imagineabetterworld2020@gmail.com OR standbysurvivors@protonmail.comMy Substack: https://emmakatherine.substack.com/BUY ME A COFFEE: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/theimaginationVENMO: @emmapreneurCASHAPP: $EmmaKatherine1204All links: Support the show
