A journey that began with a few men in Melbourne growing mustaches, has now bloomed into a global movement. Movember, as it's known, has raised over $800 million, advocating primarily for men's health issues including prostate and testicular cancer, along with mental health and suicide prevention. Our guest, Mark from the Movember Foundation, walks us through this heartening transformation, articulating the significance of both physical and mental health in men's lives. Through conversations about the Alec Model, we learn the power of asking, listening without judgement, encouraging action, and checking back in. Exploring the nuanced aspects of masculinity and vulnerability, our guest underscores the need for redefining strength as an attribute that includes emotional expression and empathy. The reverberations of the Covid-19 pandemic on men's mental health are also put under the microscope, as we discuss the importance of altruistic collaborations and the steps Movember is taking to support men re-entering the workforce. In our final stride, we touch upon the unacknowledged collective grief brought about by the pandemic and the ways to process it on a personal level. The episode underlines the fact that men's health is not just a November concern, but a year-round priority. So, come along on this enlightening journey with us, as we redefine, rediscover, and reclaim men's health, one mustache at a time.Head to Movember.com to donate or, create your own fundraising page.Support the showAdditional Resources: Subscribe/Rate/Review on iTunes ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐: >>>HEREEnroll Here

As the vaccinated proportion of the population increases and the pandemic ebbs across the U.S., a different crisis demands immediate attention. The nation's health and education leaders must focus now on helping young people get past what has been a long, dark year." If you'd like to learn more about Elder Law, Medicaid planning, Guardianship, Special Needs Trusts, or Probate law contact the Law Office of Frank Bruno, Jr. today at 718-418-5000. Thank you for listening! Eldercare law is really an umbrella term encompassing multiple areas of law. Some elder care attorneys handle subjects that most people know something about, such as probate, guardianship, estate planning. Other eldercare lawyers focus their practice on other areas of law such as special needs planning, VA benefits planning, and Medicaid planning. So, what is Medicaid planning? Medicaid planning is a way to protect people's assets from the threat of long-term care expenses. Many clients are between 65 and 95, own their own homes, and have between $25,000 and $750,000 worth of assets in addition to the house. What many people don't realize is exactly how expensive long term care expenses can be – In 2020 the average costs of a skilled nursing facility, in New York is $14,250.00 per month. Someone can be solidly middle class or upper-middle class, have saved their whole life, and think that they'll have plenty of money for whatever happens only to suffer a stroke, major heart attack or get an Alzheimer's or Parkinson's diagnosis and need help with their activities of daily living. If they have this six-figure per year care expense, many people spend everything. Medicare does not pay skilled nursing home expenses after 100 days. An elder care attorney, who handles Medicaid planning, is able to legally and ethically protect people's assets to get them qualified for Medicaid. Medicaid, unlike Medicare, has excellent long-term care benefits. This helps them supplement their lifestyle with their own assets (to improve the quality of their life while alive) and make it more likely that they will have something to pass onto their heirs after they pass away. There are many myths and much misinformation surrounding long-term care Medicaid in New York. To learn more please visit... https://www.frankbrunolaw.com

Laura and Benny discussing the slight pause of the final lifting of restrictions: COVID preventive measures will be in place until Spring 2022. Mainly: COVID Certs (not used at weddings but get vaccinated!), Mask Wearing and Physical Distancing. For Weddings, easiest one first: Curfews are gone! Normal trading hours are now permitted for hospitality. Numbers: there is no explicit numbers restriction but venues must adhere to preventative measures. That means venue should follow guidelines. Following guidelines may result in reduced capacity. Weddings are made up of potentially vaccinated and unvaccinated guests so pods/tables of 6 will most likely apply. Table service or other non-crowd-gathering queueing systems to be used when serving drinks. Antigen Test will not be used at weddings but will be sent to vaccinated people if they are a close contact. People should monitor their exposure and contacts in the run up to a wedding. (So you can have hundreds of contacts at your wedding!) The above is from the press conference on the 19th October 2021, Failte Ireland will release guidelines shortly to confirm the operations of weddings in hospitality settings. So close but no cigar, yet! Benny is gutted that his prediction is off by a month, most likely there will be an announcement in January 2022 to confirm the end of all measures. As of October 2021 they are saying February 2022 for removal of all measures. Pre the Christmas disaster of 2020, Benny said the 3rd of Jan 2022 would be the end of all restrictions, COVID would be done! He might yet be right but it is a bitter blow for his COVID response rating. Laura and Benny Photography are wedding photographers in Ireland.

Hello Self-Care Goddesses and welcome to our second episode of the Self-Care Goddess Podcast. I'm super grateful to have interviewed the beautiful and talented Dr. Gina Di Giulio. Dr. Gina Di Giulio is a Clinical Psychologist who obtained her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Ottawa and earned a Master's in Law with a Health Specialization from Osgoode Hall Law School. Past professions include: Clinical Psychologist at the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre, Lecturer in the Undergraduate and Graduate Programs at the University of Ottawa, Adjunct Teaching Faculty at Queen's University, and Clinical Psychologist in the Outpatient Mental Health Program at Markham Stouffville Hospital. She has spent the past 10 years working in Corporate and Executive Mental Health and was the Director of Mental Health at Canada's largest executive wellness clinic. She has delivered numerous on-site training sessions, workshops, webinars on various topics related to mental wellbeing and is often called upon to consult with organizations to help them enhance the mental wellbeing of their workforce. Currently she is the CEO and Founder of PathWell, a firm that provides comprehensive workplace mental wellness solutions, including assessment and treatment interventions, training sessions, and consultation services, to organizations across Canada. I always knew of the important connection between Self-Care and Mental Health, but after this podcast episode I'm convinced more than ever. As women we've been socialized to put others first, and neglect our Self-Care, that's why it's so critical to reframe our thoughts and challenge any guilt around our Self-Care habits. Listen in for some great ways to incorporate Self-Care in your daily routine. In this episode Dr. Gina and I discuss: • Things women should do less of. • The connection between Mental Health and Self-Care. • Why we need to use the term Physical Distancing vs. Social Distancing. • The type of exercise that is most beneficial for Mental Health. • The fundamental building block for Mental Health & Wellbeing. • The mind-body connection & its powerful importance on your Mental Health. • 9 simple ways to prioritize Self-Care for maintaining good Mental Health. This doesn't mean that self-care is the cure for mental illness, but research shows many people fail to provide adequate self-care in the midst of a flare up of symptoms. I believe that learning to manage Mental Health only truly starts when you reintroduce Self-Care. Because if we're not taking care of ourselves we are neglecting ourselves and risk neglecting our Mental Health & wellbeing. ======================================================================================================== Contact Dr. Gina Di Giulio if you or a loved one is experiencing mental health issues: www.pathwell.ca IG: @pathwellclinic 647- 241-5438 ======================================================================================================== If you enjoyed this episode and it was helpful please share it with your loved ones or a friend and check out www.savoiaselfcare.com for more amazing wellness tips and download our Self-Care Morning Routine. The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Friday released guidelines for schools that focus on five key Covid-19 mitigation strategies: 1) the universal and correct wearing of masks; 2)  physical distancing; 3) washing your hands; 4) cleaning  facilities and improving ventilation, and 5) contact tracing, isolation and quarantine. Vaccines and testing are not among the "key" strategies the agency lays out, calling them "additional layers" of Covid-19 prevention. But the new recommendations come amid a national debate about when and how to reopen schools, even as fear of spreading the coronavirus continues and a push to prioritize teachers for vaccinations grows. Contct tracing: measure the impact to your employees should someone be impacted by Covid-19.

And the way physical distancing affects us in general. I express my extreme concern about prolonged loss of physical contact and in-person events. Not only does this affect people making efforts to recover from social anxiety and agoraphobia, it concerns me, psych-socially: our barrier to make human contact which is our inherent human need!

I got to do something really cool this week for work--I had the opportunity to interview Glenn Close (the founder of our organization) & Kevin Love of the Cleveland Cavaliers and get their perspectives on self care!    My biggest takeaway from our conversation: connection is so important right now and there is a big difference between physical distancing and total social isolation. Connection is huge part of self care (and also part of my 3 tier coaching system!) & I'll share ways you can still stay connected even during the quarantine.   Kevin shared this article with us that I reference in the episode about the correlation between social isolation and poor health.   *** Did you hear?  I'm now offering SELF CARE COACHING!  Head over to my website to learn more and connect with me so you can get started with proven 3 tier Self Care system to help you feel your best.  (you can also listen back to episode 31 to learn why I'm now offering this!) *** Please subscribe, rate and review The Self Care Isn't Selfish podcast so others can connect with our content too!  Thank you so much for the love! A concerned CKNW listener sent us a series of photos they snapped this weekend. The road on the way to Pitt Lake, north of Pitt Meadows, was lined with cars. The parking lot to the park is closed to deter visits...but photos show people opted to park on the side of the road instead - bumper to bumper.  Niki Reitmayer spoke to the Mayor of Pitt Meadows, Bill Dingwall, who said - trails are still open; and as long as you aren't crowding together with strangers, there doesn't seem to be any harm in going for a stroll.

In episode three of The BeREAL Podcast, Diana and Ednesha cover the inception of the podcast and relate it to a discussion about the ways to maintain good mental health during the COVID-19 pandemic. Routine becomes a big issue that is covered in this episode, because maintaining as normal of a routine as possible during this time is critical for a healthy mind. Your hosts examine the possible mental health implications posed by the coronavirus, and highlight the ways that this extra free time can be used to be productive and experiment with new mindfulness activities. The conversation turns back to the BeWELL Psychotherapy practice as the pair elaborate on the ways that therapists are handling the pandemic. The two explain the ways that they are attempting to cater to their patients' needs during this time while also keeping track of their own mental health. This pandemic is constantly changing and each day brings new triumphs and challenges, but it is important for us all to learn how to “pivot” our daily routine and come out on the other side both mentally and physically healthy. Americans are not doing what we need to do: Why we must practice ‘physical distancing' now

The Daily Article

SPECIAL EDITION DAILY ARTICLE FOR MARCH 19, 2020 Americans are not changing our behavior as we absolutely must to defeat this enemy. A new Harris Poll survey reports that 89 percent of Americans are still going to coffee shops. Half of respondents have not altered their hygiene behavior with house guests (e.g., asking friends and family to wash their hands immediately upon entering); 58 percent have not changed how often they are inviting people over. And since more than half of all Americans have at least one of the symptoms that puts them at risk, to put the situation bluntly: we can literally be infecting people who will die as a result. How can we get more of us to do what everyone must do? NOTE: Dr. Denison will publish a special edition Daily Article podcast episode each weekday afternoon as we look at a breaking news story in the context of biblical encouragements to “fear not.” In these days, it is vital that we fight fear with faith. The Denison Forum prays these Special Editions will be a source of biblical hope for you.
