I interviewed Ryan Cote. Ryan is an author and entrepreneur. He is the owner of Morning Upgrade, a business dedicated to increasing the awareness of personal development through a blog, podcast, book, and morning routine cards. He is also co-owner of his family's marketing agency and a real estate investor. Ryan stated that he comes from a family of entrepreneurs and currently helps run his family's direct mail and digital marketing company, Ballantine, with my uncle and two brothers, his dad retired in 2017. Rayan's great uncle started the company in 1966 — fast forward to today, and they have a great team all working together to help their clients succeed. They also just launched a new roofing company under the Ballantine umbrella called Ballantine Home Improvement! Ryan considers himself a serial entrepreneur. Ever since college, he has had side ventures from affiliate marketing to building & selling an eCommerce website to providing SEO services to small businesses, and more, he says that he still has an active interest in creating, testing, and trying new things in business (for example, my passion project, Morning Upgrade!). Rick has served as a consultant on gay, lesbian and transgender issues to a wide range of elected and appointed officials. He is currently policy adviser to The Civil Rights Agenda." Rick brings a lot to the LGBTQ community with organization and passion. He was a key organizer and lobbyist for the passage of the City of Chicago Human Rights Ordinance (1988), Cook County Human Relations Ordinance (1993) and an amendment adding sexual orientation and gender identity to the Illinois Human Rights Act. Tonight Rick will tell us a little about last week and the weeks before and what it took to get us to this point. He will also tell us about the task we have ahead of us. Also joining Rick tonight will be Chicago couple KATRINA (TREY) and RAYN MADDOX a couple who look to marry one day legally because it is their right.
