"This is a fun parlor game. Name a band, a song by that band and then an album from that band that are all named exactly the same. Here is an example. Bad Company by Bad Company on the album Bad Company. There are many that are close but a true Trilogy is all three exactly the same."

The boys chug through impossible time signatures, nearly dislocate a hip trying to headbang in 13/16, and use the scientific method to conduct an autopsy on the corpse of Meshuggah's 2008 polyrhythmic endurance test, “Bleed.” News items and digressions include Yondr bags, Ghost, Tool, Iron Maiden, and whether locking up your phone is the new mosh pit etiquette.
When people talk about the great rock vocalists of all time, several familiar and redundant names will always appear, like Ronnie James Dio, Robert Plant, Roger Daltrey, Chris Cornell and others. One name that appears on those same lists is Rock And Roll Hall of Famer, Glenn Hughes, known for his work in Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Trapeze, Black Country Communion, and as a solo artist. We were lucky enough to speak with him about the new record, upcoming confirmed projects with Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, and Joe Bonamassa, as well as what it was like to play Cal Jam I in Ontario and his thoughts on loosing his friend Ozzy Osbourne the prior week.
"Naming a band can be quite difficult. The list of bands we will discuss today went back into history to grab a name or an event to come up with a moniker. You know a good many of them. "

On the eve of the FedEx St. Jude Championship we have a bit of fun on our Golf Today Roundtable with Rex Hoggard, and amateur Elvis Presley impersonator Todd Lewis. Todd's impersonation of the King of Rock 'N Roll even got one of this week's competitors to stop by the show! Did Todd get our mystery player to sing along? Tune in and find out! Sadly, Todd gave the golden pipes a rest to catch up with Scottie Scheffler and Justin Thomas. Scheffler is singing a happy tune this season after racking up two more majors, and so is JT after his return to the upper echelon of the world's elite players. What do they have in store for the season finale? Hear it here first! Miguel Angel Jimenez is enjoying a bounce-back season PGA TOUR Champions too. He stops by the show ahead of his start at the 20th annual Boeing Classic to tell us what what keeps him going on the pro circuit into his 60's.

Is happiness merely an Apparition that fails to appear even if we are told that the world is our oyster. I've got one jealous again, again, and so I think of Dylan, an old friend, whilst passing through Salt Lake City, and I hope we will not be strangers forever.

As we start our 3rd year of First Concert Memories, the monthly sidecast from your friends at The Ugly American Werewolf in London, we welcome our friend Richard Evans to tell the tale of seeing Bruce Springsteen live in 1980. Richard is the head writer of Rock N Roll Archeology, one of the great podcasts in the Pantheon Podcasts family, which is hosted by Pantheon CEO & Co-Founder Christian Swain. Richard & Christian have been friends since the 70s and Richard turned Christian onto The Boss when they were teenagers. When Bruce's double album The River came out in 1980, his reputation for a stellar live performance had made it to the west coast and the boys got tickets to one of the 4 sold out shows at the LA Sports Arena. Fans of Bruce recall this tour as a special one as he played most all of the 20 tracks on the album along with back catalog favorites for a 3.5+ hour extravaganza that featured a young Bruce and the E Street Band in their prime (and before the worldwide fame of Born in the USA). Hear how they maneuvered through scalpers to upgrade their seats from the last row in the upper deck to the floor, how they ingested some psychedelic enhancers during the intermission, how the band celebrated Halloween (it was on October 31, 1980) and how they blew past the security guard, got down on the floor and made it all the way to the front. A fateful Halloween Night for our heroes! This week in Brett's Man Cave, we paused for something deeper — a heartfelt memorial to those we've lost. Whether they were family, friends, icons, or personal heroes, we honored their memories with respect, stories, and a moment of silence that said more than words ever could. It was about grief, yes — but also gratitude. Because every name we spoke carried a legacy. Then the conversation took a turn toward two larger-than-life figures: Ozzy Osbourne and Hulk Hogan — men who rose to iconic status but faced very human struggles along the way. We unpacked Ozzy's battle with addiction, his health issues, and how the rock legend reinvented himself again and again. Behind the "Prince of Darkness" persona is a man who's fought through demons many of us know too well — pain, loss, and trying to keep going when the spotlight fades. But it was Hulk Hogan who stirred the deepest debate. We revisited the golden days of Hulkamania — the red-and-yellow icon who told us to train hard, say our prayers, and believe in ourselves. But we also had to confront the darker parts of his legacy. His involvement in scandals — especially the leaked recordings that revealed racist comments — became a dividing line for fans and critics alike. Some saw it as an unforgivable stain, others viewed it as a tragic flaw in an otherwise impactful career. Some mourned the man who defined their childhoods, while others questioned the depth of that grief, pointing to the damage his words caused. The room wasn't united — and maybe that's the point. Legacies are complicated. Heroes are flawed. And sometimes, honoring the dead means wrestling with the truth about who they really were. This week was heavy, but real. And in Brett's Man Cave, that's exactly how we keep it — real talk, real emotion, and room for every side of the story.
The boys trip through sugarless enlightenment, cut calories with Canadian harmonies, and use the scientific method to conduct an autopsy on the corpse of The Guess Who's oddly nutritious FM staple, “No Sugar Tonight/New Mother Nature.” News items and digressions include copious cups of black coffee and Ozzy-inspired burritos.

Original air date: August 1, 2025 First off, we highly reccomend that you listen to part one before you listen to this half of the interview. If you've ever wondered what it's like to work in the rock and roll business at the highest level, this guest has the answers to all of your questions. Paul Rappaport started out as just a regular guy from Southern California - someone who loved ledgendary concerts and played guitar in his own band. But as fate would have it, a recommendation led him to apply for a college rep position at Columbia Records, and he only moved up from there. In the episode, Paul tells incredible stories about the Rolling Stones (Ron Wood & Keith Richards), Pink Floyd's David Gilmour, Elvis Costello and more. Paul just released his critically acclaimed book, "Gliders Over Hollywood" and he is happy to share many of those stories on this episode of our podcast.
