What happens when poor training leads to high-stakes mistakes? Adam Haidary went from patrolling the streets to reshaping law enforcement—training officers to perform at their peak, saving lives with groundbreaking programs, and exposing the raw realities of life on the frontlines. In this episode, he dives into why poor training in high-stress environments can lead to catastrophic decisions. Whether it's law enforcement or business, the principles of preparation, clear communication, and solid decision-making are universal. KEY TOPICS The principle every business owner should steal from elite combat training. The one thing that separates confident officers from those who freeze in a crisis. How understanding human aggression makes you a better leader. Why most people's self-defense plan is a dangerous fantasy. ASL After Midnight! Finally an Advanced Squad Leader parody song that is about the victorious side of the game, rather than all of our wargaming foibles and faults. Donovan's game must have improved over the years. We finish off our coverage of the rules in section A with rule 26: Victory Conditions. Now you will be able to go back to all those games you have on hold and tally up the winner of each one. That only took us 16 years. Sagi Dovev dedicates most of his waking hours to training and rehabilitating young IDF soldiers whose injuries range from post op rehab to single & multiple limb amputees to head traumas. Sagi's dedication to many of these soldiers began prior to Oct 7th, training them in their combat units in mental and physical resilience. The connection he builds with his guys is steeped in a mutual respect of trusting the process of rebuilding the post injured soldier's mind and body from the ground up. It is through these grueling training sessions that the definition of resiliency is exemplified. For more, you can follow the show on Instagram @GraceforimpactpodcastProduced by Peoples Media Hosted on Acast. Sorry for the week off. I was working like crazy to finish an audiobook project before a brilliant weekend away of narrative 40K gaming. This was fun to go into the specific of how various Tyranid weapons actually work. Like my readings of GW literature? Why not do me a favour and post on the Black Library Facebook page and tell them you want me to narrate one of their audiobooks? That would make my week to be honest. If you've enjoyed listening to Oldex, I'd really appreciate it if you would leave a review on iTunes, Spotify, or wherever you found this to help spread the word: iTunes: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/oldex/id1574187584 Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/1aehYQH8DpHRlWNbRufQTN?si=8b69327427704038 Many thanks to Phil Kelly, Andy Chambers, Andy Hoare and Graham McNeill for writing the fiction I grew up with Phil Kelly on Twitter: https://twitter.com/philkellywords Andy Chambers on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/theandychambers/ Andy Chambers' website: http://redstargames.net/ Graham McNeill on Twitter: https://twitter.com/GrahamMcNeill Graham McNeill on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/urielventris01/ Is Andy Hoare on social media? Paul has been involved with the Australian Army for 30 years mainly within Special Forces (SF), serving in the 1st Commando Regiment and 4RAR Commando before he became a founding member of the 2nd Commando Regiment (2CDO) in 2009. Paul deployed five times on combat tours to Afghanistan and Iraq, and at home served as a team leader in the Tactical Assault Group, Australia's elite anti-terror unit (TAG-East) Paul's personal hand-to-hand combat experiences in theatres of war, and those of his fellow Commandos, have guided his development of the Kinetic Fighting system. This evolution began when, as a sergeant with 2 CDO, Paul redeveloped the Close Quarter Fighting (CQF) course for Special Forces, and co-founded the 2 CDO Integrated Combat Centre (ICC). Paul later created the Infantry Integrated Combat (IIC) course being used by the entire Australian Infantry Corps, and is now the Army's subject-matter expert in delivering the Army Combatives Program. Additional to Paul's illustrious defence service he's been involved in combat sports and martial arts since the early 1980s and holds black-belt ranks in eight different systems. These include Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ), Kudo Daido Juku, Kyokushin karate and three aikido styles (Yoshinkan, Tomiki and Gyokushin Ryu), as well as the Olympic combat sports of judo and taekwondo. Paul was the first Australian to earn a Kudo black belt and was the first branch chief of the International Kudo Federation Australia (IKFA). Enjoy The Show...

As if last episode wasn't intense enough.... now we have to deal with the aftermath. Eren actually looks like he kind of knows what he is doing, but at the same time he is throwing arms at Mikasa. Hange finally is understood by a Titan and she is pretty happy about that. Also, Hannes is so drunk that he doesn't even notice an entire Colossal Titan stuck in a wall until he gets to the top of it. Recently an essay was published on this forum titled “Rethinking Women in Ground Close Combat“. The central argument seems to be that women are physically weak, and if we reduce warfare to a series of fistfights we will almost certainly lose. This is a reductionist approach to combat which ignores... The post Women in Ground Close Combat: An opportunity appeared first on Wavell Room.
This article argues that the decision to open all branches of the military to women has failed to address several important issues regarding how the UK’s ability to defend itself in a war of national survival will be affected. The author proposes that the British military takes a pause on the women in ground close combat (WGCC) programme to reassess the decision through a risk-based planning approach based on a wargame of national survival. Before we get going too far, I want to lead with two pieces of information. First, the podcast I mentioned on the show (and have mentioned on several shows previously) is Written In Blood History by Stephen DiJulius; you can find his show at https://writteninbloodhistory.com/ and you can find Stephen on Twitter at https://twitter.com/SDijulius/. The second note I have is that T+M is now available on Amazon Podcasts! Anyone looking to enjoy their podcasts on their Alexa device can now simply as her to play the Thugs and Miracles podcast and - just like the Princess Bride - it will be just as you wish. Check out their site and the show at https://music.amazon.com/podcasts/3ad5382f-5947-40f3-9567-41d7fd891a87/Thugs-and-Miracles. We've got over 30 episodes up, so if you're new to T+M there's plenty to catch up on! For this week, we're taking a look at the issues associated with monarchical succession, which sounds kind of dry at first glance, but is actually a gold mine of interesting topics when you dig a little deeper. When should a king admit that his territory is big enough and carve off some of it for the next generation? Is it smart to give a young potential competitor a head start? Is staying in power until death, then handing an entire government off to the next person, really the most effective way to administer a kingdom? And what do you do if you do decide to split the Kingdom, and then your knucklehead son nearly gets himself killed when he picks a fight with a lesser group - and loses? All of these were questions that confronted Merovingian Kings, and in particular, Chlothar II. And they were questions that led to that same King essentially going, Jon Snow-like, into battle against an army by himself - and somehow winning. There are times where, if it weren't history, you'd swear the stories were being made up; this week is definitely one of them! Join us as we explore Chlothar II, Dagobert, and the invention of plot armor, in Episode Two, Season Two, of Thugs and Miracles! Well, guess who's back? Back again... It's Totally CRIT with a trio of trouble in the form of Chris, John and the returning Commander of CRIT James. We start the show with our usual round of What the CRIT. Where the boys discuss what they've been up to lately. Chris informs us of his latest factional flame Aleph Operations Sub-Section and gives us a breakdown of how he's been getting along with them. John follows up with his new found love for the Tartary Army Corps and his recent trip to Wayland for their Monthly I.T.S. event. James rounds things off with his experience at Wayland including a discussion of his controversial concession and he admits he's on the bandwagon too having picked up TAK as well. Then it's on to the main event with a discussion on Close Combat in Games and Theory. We start by chatting about the basics, such as how to get into close combat and what to do once you do. Then we mull over the various special skills linked to CC and consider if there are too many. We then take a nap and come back for part two where we discuss some of the more advanced elements. Consider some of our favourite tricks and give some tips. Rage as we debate the merits of our favourite CC specialists with a potentially controversial winner!
Dozer is taking over the Close Combat this week as we sit down to take a look at the current Fight Card. Things may change though, and we don't look into Platoon Wars. So make sure to keep your eyes out for a Bullet Punch later this week.
New block, new host as D4RT jumps onto the mic for the first time in ages. We've got a super short and quick Bullet Punch telling you what matches are coming up this week.
Short, Sweet, and To the Point as D0ZER sits down to record fresh from his loss over this week's highlight match. So really now, the best match is the IC Title Match of Nah vs. Yui and the Bracket Reset of Abrandt vs. Otto.
This is late, like very late. Like, outdated late. And I'm sorry. This is all me. I'm going to try harder to get everything done on time. ~Dozer
Regi couldn't do Close Combat this week. So Dart wrote up some notes to do a small Close Combat, but his recording got botched due to technical issues. So Dozer grabs the notes and steps up to the mic.
Intro Song: Last Surprise (Instramental) - Persona 5 Cycle 7 starts with a bang. With a wave of new blood filling the roster could we see a mass upheaval of the current regime? Or will the King of Order continue to sit on his throne uncontested? Find out now on the Close Combat with your host, Reginanos!
It's stARCade and as you know from Close Combat, hype matches are happening. But what was the insanity that lead us to this timeline? This is your chance to get caught up on what you might have missed as we rush head-first into the pits of potential despair.

Edged-Weapon Tactics To Survive A Real Street Attack!
Modern Combat & Survival | Tactical Firearms | Urban Survival | Close Quarters Combat Training
It's a strange FBI statistic about "deadly crime"... 10% of victims shot with a firearm die from their wounds. But a whopping 30% of victims STABBED with a knife end up dying! Now that's not to say that a knife is a better weapon for personal protection. I mean, a bullet at least has the chance for a "one-shot stop", while a knife is a long, slow (very messy) process of stab after stab while you wait for your attacker to bleed out. However, the stats DO reveal that having a knife on you - at least as a back-up - can be enough to save your life when attacked. So in this week's podcast episode, I asked "close-quarters knife-fighting" expert, Scott Babb, to share his unique take on how to used an edged weapon against a violent attacker. Here's What You'll Discover In This Week's Episode: Hollywood vs. "the street": What most people get wrong, wrong, WRONG about how to defend yourself with a blade! Prison knife-fights! What Scott discovered after watching hours of life-or-death attacks in America's most brutal penitentiaries! WHAT knife to carry (and how to carry it!) for rapid deployment! The best areas of the body to target with your knife that will ensure the fight ends... FAST! A super simple close-quarters knife-fighting training drill to help get you on your way to master your weapon! I've become a big fan of Scott's training the moment I saw his unique approach and training methods! I know you're going to want to listen to this podcast a few times through. And remember...you can get all the links to these items AND a "cheat sheet" in this week's Show Notes at www.MCSMagazine.com/195!
The Fight Card has been released and it's Close Combat time! This week matches look interesting, to say the least. And in this all, Dart is beginning his goal to try to become ARC's biggest spoiler.
It's a short episode with only 6 matches to talk about. And who your picks are for the new Game Corner should also be pretty obvious with these matchups. Matches to watch include Cy vs Otto; Choose vs Venge. Matches not to watch includes SMence vs Cooker because that battle just isn't going to happen. Though if it does happen, get the popcorn ready.
The main point of the armed services is to wreck things and kill the enemy. Often bombers and long range missiles do not do the job. Sometimes soldiers and marines need to get close. Recent losses show these tip-of-the-spear warfighters may not have the training and equipment they need. For a perspective on the Pentagon's new Close Combat Lethality Task Force, Army Maj. John Spencer, deputy director of the Modern War Institute at West Point and former Army ranger, joined Federal Drive with Tom Temin.
AFTERBUZZ TV -- Attack on Titan edition, is a weekly "after show" for fans of Attack On Titan. In this episode hosts Megan Salinas, Katie Cullen, Emma Fyffe, and Alexis Torres discuss episode 7. ABOUT ATTACK ON TITAN: Many years ago, the last remnants of humanity were forced to retreat behind the towering walls of a fortified city to escape the massive, man-eating Titans that roamed the land outside their fortress. Only the heroic members of the Scouting Legion dared to stray beyond the safety of the walls – but even those brave warriors seldom returned alive. Those within the city clung to the illusion of a peaceful existence until the day that dream was shattered, and their slim chance at survival was reduced to one horrifying choice: kill – or be devoured! Try This "Delta" Trick For Faster Target-Acquisition In Close Quarters!
Modern Combat & Survival | Tactical Firearms | Urban Survival | Close Quarters Combat Training
There's obviously a difference between training with a static paper target at the range and quickly responding to a knife-wielding felon who's trapped you in a parking garage stairwell. The question is... Is YOUR handgun tricked out for the range? Or do you have it prepped for a no-warning criminal ambush? Well, in this week's podcast episode, you get a real-world lesson from the guys who know what it really takes to survive when you're relying on your skills AND your firearm to get you home at the end of the day. Military "hot zone" contractor, Nathan Seabrook is back from an overseas assignment to fill us in on 1 simple trick he learned from a "Delta" buddy about how to modify your weapon for faster target acquisition. And make no mistake... "Speed" is one of the most critical survivability factors you must master in a real gunfight. But your bullet has to hit your target for it to truly stop your attacker... ... and this simple trick could be the one thing that gets you home alive!
Bradley J. Steiner Interview with Bob Whelan - NATURAL STRENGTH NIGHT podcast - (episode 19) - 7 Oct 14 It’s a great honor for me to have as our guest, Professor Bradley J. Steiner. Brad is one of the greatest muscle writers of all time and is a world-renowned expert in two separate fields: strength training and the martial arts. (Especially self-defense and close combat.) He has written over 30 published books in these areas of study. I have read several of Brads strength training books in my early years of training and I credit his great writings in Strength & Health, Muscular Development and Iron Man for giving me a great foundation in my own training. Brad was probably the first to emphasize the importance of STRENGTH TRAINING for self defense and the martial arts. Traditionally the martial arts discouraged weight training (and many still do!) Brad went against the grain and was a leader and pioneer in teaching the benefits of strength training for self defense and the martial arts. Brad is a tenth degree black belt and Founder and Grandmaster of American Combato. Professor Steiner is President and CEO of the International Combat Martial Arts Federation an elite and prestigious organization of internationally recognized close combat, self-defense, and martial arts authorities. Brad has a great home study DVD course and a great monthly newsletter, SWORD AND PEN.
