Outreach on WhatsApp: A Step-by-Step Guide to Getting Ignored

Sales For The Nigerian Wedding Industry

We've all been there. That unsolicited, lengthy WhatsApp message from a "consultant" offering a laundry list of services or training programs. You scroll, you sigh, and you likely ignore or block the sender. It's a common occurrence, and it's a perfect example of how not to do outreach. Let's dissect a recent outreach attempt I received, and why it failed miserably: The Offending Message: "Good Day, trust your day is going great? My name is XYZ, an IT Consultant at TECHXYZ AFRICA. I am inviting you and your loved ones to join our internship training program, designed to equip you with the most global in-demand tech skills like Data Science, Web Development, Cybersecurity, AI & Machine Learning, Digital Marketing, Product Design (UI/UX), Video Production, Networking (CCNA), Mobile App Development, Cloud Computing (AWS), Music Production, and more! Our training program comes with; ✅ international certifications ✅ International Job Opportunities ✅ Internship Opportunities ✅ Free CV revamp ✅ Job interview preparation Let me know which course you're interested in. Call or WhatsApp 090XYZ to kick-start your journey today! We have both online and Physical classes Please Don't keep this to yourself, share it with friends & family!" Why This Approach Fails: * Too Long: In the mobile-first world, lengthy messages are a death sentence. People simply won't scroll through endless paragraphs. * Unsolicited: This message came out of the blue. I had no prior interaction or expressed interest in any of these tech areas. Unsolicited messages are often perceived as spam and lead to blocking. * Trying to Be Everything to Everyone: Listing every possible tech skill dilutes the message. It lacks focus and fails to resonate with any specific need. * Confusing Call to Actions (CTAs): The message throws multiple CTAs at the recipient: choose a course, share with friends, inquire about benefits. This confusion leads to inaction. * Lack of Personalization: The generic greeting and impersonal approach make it clear this is a mass-sent message. The Right Way to Do WhatsApp Outreach: Instead of broadcasting a novel, adopt a more strategic, conversational approach: * Start with a Problem-Based Opener: Instead of a generic greeting, open with a question that addresses a specific need. For example, instead of the long message, a good first message would be something like, "Good Day (name), I got your number from XYZ business directory. Are you or any of your loved ones interested in acquiring tech skills?". * Qualify and Engage: If they respond, engage in a conversation to understand their specific interests and needs. Ask questions about their goals and challenges. * Focus on One Area: Instead of listing every service, focus on the one that aligns with their needs. * Build Rapport: Prioritize building trust and rapport before pitching your services. * Offer Value: Highlight the benefits that matter most to them, such as certifications, job opportunities, or skill development. * Use a Clear and Singular CTA: Guide the recipient to take one specific action, such as scheduling a call or visiting a website. The Takeaway: In today's digital age, it's tempting to rely on mass messaging. However, effective outreach requires a personalized, strategic approach. Focus on building relationships, understanding needs, and providing value. Stop trying to do what's easy, and begin doing what is effective. Remember, building trust and rapport leads to higher conversion rates, repeat business, and valuable referrals. It's worth the effort. #WhatsAppOutreach #SalesTips #DigitalMarketing #BusinessStrategy #LeadGeneration

In this episode we are looking at the challenges AI technology faces when it comes to becoming, and then remaining sustainable. The benefits of AI are unquestionable: from improved medical assistance and increased efficiency in the workplace, to autonomous transportation and next-level gaming experiences. But the more expansive the abilities of AI become, the more data storage that's required. That data storage uses a lot of energy. In fact, it has been predicted that AI servers could be using more energy than a country the size of the Netherlands by 2030. For HPE Chief Technologist, Matt Armstrong-Barnes, the rate at which AI has grown in recent years has had an environmental impact, and he believes that's down to people rushing into training large language models without thinking about longevity, or the need for future change. And that, in turn, has led to data being stored that is no longer needed. The sustainability issue is something that is also a main focus of Arti Garg, Lead Sustainability & Edge Architect in the office of the CTO at Hewlett Packard Enterprise. Like Matt, Arti has kept a keen eye on the exponential growth of AI data storage and the effect that is having on the environment, and agrees that the key to a more sustainable future is in how we train models. However, whilst training models well is important, the tech itself is a key component in more efficient AI. Shar Narasimhan is the director of product marketing for NVIDIA's data center GPU portfolio. He believes that a combination of openly available model optimisations and chipsets, CPUs, GPUs and intelligent data centers optimised for AI is a key piece of the puzzle in avoiding energy wastage, and making AI more sustainable all round.Sources and statistics cited in this episode:Global AI market prediction - https://www.statista.com/statistics/1365145/artificial-intelligence-market-size/#:~:text=Global%20artificial%20intelligence%20market%20size%202021%2D2030&text=According%20to%20Next%20Move%20Strategy,nearly%20two%20trillion%20U.S.%20dollars.AI could use as much energy as a small country report - https://www.cell.com/joule/fulltext/S2542-4351(23)00365-3?_returnURL=https%3A%2F%2Flinkinghub.elsevier.com%2Fretrieve%2Fpii%2FS2542435123003653%3Fshowall%3DtrueIndustry responsible for 14% of earth's emissions - https://www.emerald.com/insight/content/doi/10.1108/JICES-11-2021-0106/full/htmlNumber of AI startups - https://tracxn.com/d/explore/artificial-intelligence-startups-in-united-states/__8hhT66RA16YeZhW3QByF6cGkAjrM6ertfKJuKbQIiJg/companiesAI model energy use increase - https://openai.com/research/ai-and-computeEuropean Parliament report into AI energy usage - https://www.europarl.europa.eu/RegData/etudes/STUD/2021/662906/IPOL_STU(2021)662906_EN.pdf

World poverty: Is technology the great leveller?

Technology Untangled

Play Episode Listen Later Jun 28, 2022 33:39

Since 1990, the global rates of extreme poverty have gone from around 40% to around 10%, and ending World Poverty entirely by 2030 is one of the UN's Key Sustainable Development Goals, announced in 2015. However, progress is slowing, and 710 million people around the world still live in extreme poverty - currently earning below $1.90 per day. So how can technology help? In this episode, we'll be meeting some of the people and organisations aiming to eradicate poverty through the use of technology. The power of connectivityOne of the most important ways in which rural economies can grow and become more efficient and productive is to get access to communications technology. Isabelle Mauro is the Head of Information, Communications & Technology (ICT) Industries at the World Economic Forum. The WEF is the world body bringing together the public and private sectors, and has been pushing for greater co-operation between the public sector and telecoms providers to work on lifting developing communities out of hunger and poverty. The results speak for themselves: Research suggests a 10% improvement in mobile connectivity can add 1.5% to a country's GDP. The challenge is to provide a financial incentive for companies and Governments to reach out to poorer areas where the business case for connection might not be so obvious.Harnessing complex skills and technology for unconnected communitiesOne of the firms leading the charge to bring rural communities into the digital age is Hewlett Packard Enterprise. Brian Tippens is their Head of sustainability, and has been working closely with WEF and partners around the world to enable remote and disconnected communities to take advantage of HPE's experience in data and connectivity - particularly in encouraging skills sharing and industrial expertise among NGOs and other bodies. At the core of their philanthropic ambitions, however, is to allow and enable local communities to help provide their own solutions to their own problems, encouraging long-term, sustainable and useful programs of change to emerge.Getting educatedOne of the ways in which communities can be enabled to develop their own long-term solutions is through education and upskilling the population to take advantage of the opportunities offered by technology. Leading that charge is the Micro:bit Educational Foundation, which provides expandable, programmable micro-computers to schools around the world, alongside locally-led educational programs and learning resources. Gareth Stockdale is the organisations CEO and tells us that the democratisation of technology through enabling local participation is key to lifting people out of poverty, providing pathways to future skilled careers, and to enabling self-sufficiency among remote or impoverished communities. Whether it's educating children or upskilling adults to make the most of opportunities in their community and work in collaboration with international organisations, there's plenty being done to help end world poverty by 2030. Will it be enough? Time will tell. But the appetite seems to be real for long-lasting change.Key takeaways: Even small improvements to digital connectivity can have a lasting impact on local and national economic growth and resilience. Most people have the potential to get connected, and doing so can drastically improve lives in remote communities. The best way to lift the world out of poverty is through public-private partnerships which enable and upskill communities to create their own solutions and take long-term advantage of new technologies. Western organisations have a responsibility not to parachute in solutions, but to work on the ground with communities to enable them to make best use of the technology on offer, through collaboration and education. The latest In Touch With iOS with Dave and Warren they are joined by guest Guy Serle. Stage Manager is a great new feature for multitasking on the iPad in iPadOS 16 it won't work on any iPad below M1 processor so 2 year old iPads will not get full experience and many are unhappy. The EU wants to force USB-C on all mobile devices and Apple may need to retire the lightning connector which is over 10 years old. tvOS actually has some new features which Apple rarely offers. Sherlocked apps are a thing and Reincubate makers of Camo Studio using iPhone as webcam add some great new features with overlays and lower thirds. Apple Seeds Third Betas of iOS 15.6 and iPadOS 15.6 to Developers  We are on week 2 of Beta iOS 16 for developers. Also HomePod Software 16 will be available to public beta users for the first time there are some new features in iOS 16 that I was pleasantly surprised to find. When you type a temperature in Celsius it will automatically bring up a conversion to fahrenheit and kelvin. This was in the messages app it should apply to other apps. Same applies to time zones type in a time with a time zone in messages it will give you the local time for the recipient.  We talk about more WWDC 22 announcements and items that were not reviewed during the event and other topics this week.  Stage Manager controversy won't go away: A lot of people with slightly older, non-M1 iPad are NOT happy that Stage Manager is limited to M1 iPads. Apple claims that older models (non M1 iPads) won't be able to offer the “Full Experience” for a variety of reasons like faster internal storage and more RAM. Some fire back,“ then make it less capable for older iPads” which is not something Apple is likely to do. With this we are starting to see cracks in the Intel/M-Series Processor divide with some features now pretty much M-series only, leaving still quite capable Macs in the rear view mirror. Live Captions in FaceTime, Sidecar with Reference mode only for M-series Macs and M1 iPads, and Emoji Support in Dictation Mode Stage Manager controversy won't go away, and Apple can still fix it iPadOS 16 code confirms Apple has internal mode to enable Stage Manager on older iPads The European Union will be mandating that all devices must have  USB-C as their connector. Our friend Andrew Orr did a piece on Lightning versus USB-C: Pros and cons for the iPhone Sherlocked apps will they recover? Dave reached out to Reincubate the makers of Camo Studio and the current iOS app was crashing on iOS 16. Happy to report that Camo now with version 1.6.6 fixes some bugs but best of all it doesn't crash on iOS 16 anymore. But then they have a plan to stay relevant as do other apps. https://9to5mac.com/2022/06/16/sherlocked-apps/ Apple as always never mentioned any updates to tvOS but this go around with tvOS 16 there were some notable updates. What's New in tvOS 16 for Apple TV: Features and Enhancements CarPlay did have great updates we of course will not see full screen access in cars for a while. [24:28] What applications does it tend to work best on? [26:50] What does it look like to deploy a new release candidate from environment to environment and then to production? Deepak Dewaly came to the United States in 2015 to pursue his higher education, get a good job, and bring his family over from Nepal. After completing his MBA in 2018, he began working as an IT Consultant and Business Intelligence Developer. Things seemed to be going according to plan. That was until Deepak's mother, who still lived in rural Nepal and had extremely limited access to health care, fell terribly ill. Deepak was stricken with worry. He was unable to communicate often with his family, his grades began to drop, and he lost countless nights of sleep over the unknown. Then he learnt about mindfulness and meditation. After spending countless hours researching and practicing meditation, he was able to let go of worry and the negative thoughts that plagued his life, and began living for the now, for today. Seeing how mindfulness and meditation impacted his own life, Deepak founded The ReadTreat Institute of Inner Sciences and Wellbeing with a mission of helping people live a stress free and a purpose driven life by cultivating spiritual knowledge and mindfulness practices. He has been conducting live online #readtreatmeditation sessions and is working on building a course to help people make both reading and meditation a daily habit. In this episode of the Fall In Love with Fitness podcast, Deepak and I discuss how mindfulness and meditation greatly impacted his own life, how our thoughts directly impact and change the way our bodies feel and act, and why every thought is an affirmation.
