Something is wrong in the woods. The artist notices him first — and says almost nothing. One remark, on the way to the station, barely above a murmur. Then the train comes, and he is gone.It falls to Van Cheele to find out what his friend meant. What he discovers, by the pool in the oak coppice, is a boy with light brown eyes that hold something tigerish in them, lying in the sun with an ease that belongs to no child he has ever met.The aunt will find him charming. The dog will not stay in the house.Saki understood that the old country — the country before the parishes and the property lines — was never entirely tamed. The animals there talk."Gabriel-Ernest" was first published in 1909 in the Westminster Gazette, and later collected in Reginald in Russia and Other Sketches (1910).Saki was the pen name of Hector Hugh Munro (1870–1916), a writer of savage wit and supernatural unease. He was killed on the Western Front in the closing months of the Somme campaign.

Alaska doesn't just have Bigfoot. It has something older. This is the second stop on our cryptid road trip across America. Last time out, we worked the longleaf pine country of Alabama and the legend of the White Thang.Tonight we head north to the rain coast of southeast Alaska, where the fog comes down low over the tideline and the spruce trees grow right to the water. This is the country of the Tlingit, a maritime people who have been reading these waters for somewhere between ten and fifteen thousand years. And it is the country of the Kushtaka — the otter people, the shape-shifting beings who imitate the voices of the people you love and call you out into the dark.We open in a fourteen-foot skiff outside Wrangell, with a fisherman in the fog and a child crying near the shore, and what his Tlingit grandmother told him to do if it ever happened. From there we go deep. Into the ethnography of the Kushtaka, into the protections the old stories say can save your life — copper, dogs, and one other thing nobody likes to bring up — into three traditional accounts passed down through generations, and into two modern reports from a Forest Service ranger in the Tongass and a pair of kayakers on Admiralty Island. We close with a long, cinematic survival story from a cannery cove outside Hoonah in October of two thousand and eleven, and the one small tell that may be the only thing standing between you and what's on the other side of the door.Handle this one with respect. The Kushtaka belong to a living tradition still carried by Tlingit families in southeast Alaska today. Listen with that in mind. And if you ever find yourself on a piece of Alaskan water you don't quite know, on a night when the fog has come down and the world has gone quiet, and you hear a voice you recognize calling your name from the trees, you already know what to do.Put your back to it. Keep your hands on something made of copper. And don't look back.Have you experienced a Bigfoot sighting, Sasquatch encounter, Dogman experience, UFO sighting, or any unexplained cryptid or paranormal event deep in the woods? We want to hear your story.Email your encounter to brian@paranormalworldproductions.com for a chance to be featured on a future episode of Backwoods Bigfoot Stories.Backwoods Bigfoot Stories is a paranormal storytelling podcast featuring real Bigfoot encounters, Sasquatch sightings, Dogman reports, cryptid experiences, and true scary stories from the backwoods.Follow the show and turn on automatic downloads so you never miss a chilling encounter from the forest. In this episode of The Better Life, Dr. Pinkston is joined by Dr. Tina Koopersmith, a veteran OB-GYN, fertility specialist, and "woman’s health champion" with over 30 years of experience. Together, they pull back the curtain on a topic often kept "under the table": sexual health and somatic intimacy. Dr. Tina challenges the conventional Western medical model by introducing the concept of Erotic Blueprints. She explains why many women feel like a "head on a stick"—disconnected from their bodies due to stress, hyper-vigilance, and societal pressures. This conversation shifts the focus from simple libido to a deeper understanding of our "sensation systems," exploring how safety, breathwork, and energy flow are the true foundations of pleasure. Key highlights from this episode include: The Five Erotic Archetypes: A breakdown of the Energetic, Sensual, Sexual, Kinky, and Shapeshifter blueprints and how they dictate how we experience pleasure. The Safety-Pleasure Connection: Why the body must feel safe to invite in reproduction and extreme joy. Intimacy as "Into-Me-You-See": Redefining connection beyond the physical act to include spirit, breath, and emotional transparency. Creating Your Life: A powerful look at the transition into menopause as a time to stop creating new life and start creating your own life. Whether you are looking to revitalize a long-term relationship or simply want to re-meet yourself after years of putting others first, this episode offers a refreshing, integrative look at what it means to live an erotic, empowered life. About Today's Guest Dr. Tina Koopersmith is a physician, coach, and speaker. She is the author of the bestselling book Your Healing Playground and host of the podcast by the same name. She specializes in helping women move from a state of survival to a state of play through integrative and somatic healing. A Walk in the Park by William BundyThere is a park at the edge of a sleeping city. A man walks through it at night — tall, cloaked, unhurried — as if he has walked this way before, many times, across many years. A boy watches from a window. Dreams come. This episode spirals through politics, religion, and real-world consequences like a storm that refuses to pick just one direction. Vince and Napalm open by calling out JD Vance as a political “shape-shifter,” using his shifting identity and messaging as a symbol of a broader problem: leaders driven by optics, not principles. They argue that Donald Trump has lost interest in governing, treating the presidency like a reality show while chaos builds globally. From rising gas prices to tensions involving Iran and the Strait of Hormuz, the hosts connect foreign policy decisions to everyday economic pain back home. The conversation then pivots into religion and power, criticizing Christian nationalism and questioning how faith is used as a political tool. They explore skepticism, historical rewriting, and how control systems—whether political or religious—shape public thinking.

In this episode of Spirit Talk, Brandee shares personal updates, energetic insights, and reflections on spiritual growth. From celebrating the end of daylight savings time to discussing collective awakening energy, this episode moves through real life, healing, and soul wisdom. In This Episode Finally Saying Goodbye to Daylight Savings The clocks have officially stopped changing where I live and I could not be happier. When I read the news I literally started dancing and ran to tell my kids. They were… significantly less excited than I was. But for me this feels like a small but meaningful victory for our daily rhythm and well-being. A Sweet Memory: Grandma's Lipstick A quick story and reflection inspired by a memory connected to my grandmother and lipstick. Here's the nudge to have your loved ones in spirit help you pick a symbol that represents them. A Magical Evening of Sound and Energy I attended a beautiful event at a wellness centre called Solidago. The space is incredible and the energy there is something special. The founder left a long career in education to build a spiritual wellness community and it shows in every detail of the space. The evening included a powerful sound experience that went far beyond a typical sound bath. The throat singer who performed created a deeply moving experience and I'll actually be featuring him on an upcoming episode of the podcast. Upcoming Speaking Event I'll be speaking at the Modern Medium Social in Pitt Meadows, BC on May 30th. I'm really excited to be part of this event and connect with the spiritual community there. Energy Update for March January and February felt strange energetically, but March feels different. There is a rising energy right now. Many people are feeling activated, like a fire has been lit under them. Another wave of spiritual awakening is happening. Some people are experiencing their first awakening, while others who woke up years ago are feeling another layer of activation. With awakening can come shock, anger, or frustration as people begin seeing corruption or dysfunction in systems they once trusted. That reaction is part of the process. What I'm really loving right now is the activation energy. People are waking up, stepping into awareness, and feeling called to move. Coming Soon: The Spirit Circle I'm currently developing something I'm incredibly excited about called the Spirit Circle. It will be a space where people can practice and develop their spiritual abilities together in a supportive environment. If you've been wanting a place to explore your intuitive gifts, this will be for you. Booking details will be available soon and I'll share more in an upcoming episode. Collective Card Pull For this episode I pulled Shape Shifter from the Angels and Ancestors deck by Kyle Gray. This card may actually be becoming a “stalker card” for the Spirit Talk collective. Its message is about transformation, adaptability, and the ability to move between energetic states as you evolve. Old Soul Wisdom We end the episode by talking about the idea of “old souls.” The term can easily be misunderstood. Being an old soul doesn't necessarily mean someone who has lived the most lifetimes. It really refers more to spiritual advancement and depth of experience. Some souls develop wisdom gradually across many lives. Others may gain profound growth in fewer incarnations through intense or accelerated experiences. Neither path is better than the other. Every soul has its own journey. Souls grow “old” through experience, not time. Before incarnating, souls often plan experiences that will help them learn what they still need to learn. Sometimes a soul may want to take on an extremely difficult life to grow quickly. Guides may caution them, but ultimately the journey belongs to the soul. If you feel like an old soul, your wisdom may have come from gradual growth, from hardship, or from a combination of both. However the path unfolded, awareness comes through lived experience. Deep within Navajo culture lives a creature that was once human — a witch who murdered their own family to gain the power to shapeshift, possess the living, and control the dead.*No AI Voices Are Used In The Narration Of This Podcast*IN THIS EPISODE: The Navajo believe there are places where the powers of both good and evil are present and that those powers can be harnessed for either. And the masters of these powers are the skinwalkers. (Skinwalking Witches) *** If you hear the words “murder” and “London” you immediately think of Jack the Ripper – but he is only one of many brutal murderers who prowled the foggy city looking for victims. We'll look at some of the most gruesome in London's history. (Murderous London) *** Since it was built in 1981, the Sunshine Skyway Bridge connecting St. Petersburg to Tampa, Florida has been a harbinger of tragedy. The four-mile-long bridge rises like a mastodon 430 feet into the bright sunlight. On or around the bridge, there have been hundreds of suicides, as well as deadly shipwrecks. And in 2016, there was the heinous murder of a child let down by the very system designed to protect her. (The Bridge to Tragedy) *** You've probably seen a street artist in person or on video appearing to defy gravity – floating as in mid-air, hoping you'll give them some of your pocket change. And of course you've seen magicians levitate the beautiful assistant, or levitate themselves. But then there are those who say they can do it for real – no trickery involved. Some are laughable, but others make you wonder. Jon Henriksson is a Stockholm-based double bassist and composer who has become one of the leading voices in the contemporary Scandinavian jazz scene. Born in 1996 in Gothenburg, his path to the bass started when a high school big band director gave him just two months to learn the instrument for a Christmas concert. His 2023 debut album Harmonia placed second in Orkesterjournalen's Golden Album readers' poll, and his new album Shapeshifter drops March 20th, 2026, featuring a quartet with pianist Rasmus Sørensen, drummer Jonas Bäckman, and saxophonist Karl-Martin Almqvist. In this conversation, Jon talks about discovering bird watching and nature photography during the pandemic as a counterbalance to musical life. He shares his compositional process of improvising at the piano and layering ideas on his phone, the Swedish folk high school system that's created a vibrant jazz pipeline to Stockholm, and the jam sessions he hosts twice weekly at Stompin in Old Town. Jon explains how he writes music drawing from Brazilian influences, folk, and pop alongside jazz traditions, and why he wanted Shapeshifter to give space for his favorite musicians to express their personalities. Peter Stumpp was arrested accused of being an "insatiable bloodsucker” - which, in 1589, meant he was being accused of being a werewolf. Even stranger… Peter readily admitted to being one.IN THIS EPISODE: For years the doctors couldn't figure out why Wally was coughing so much, why his skin cracked and bled, turning the bedsheets red. They prescribed ointments, antibiotics, decongestants, pain killers. His guts ached for years, too, and even morphine didn't help the pain. He died a wraith, 73 years old. The government says it has no idea what happened to him, but then that's because he worked in Area 51. (Area 51 Killed My Husband) *** Two accounts of Bigfoot are reported from Illinois. But these aren't your typical sightings. They take place in the middle of the night, possibly inside a dream. In fact, they aren't described as Bigfoot – but as a wookie, like Chewbacca from Star Wars. But then, how do you explain the accounts being exactly the same from two complete strangers? (Wookies In Illinois) *** Peter Stumpp was arrested accused of being an "insatiable bloodsucker” - which, in 1589, meant he was being accused of being a werewolf. Even stranger… Peter readily admitted to being one. (The Man Who Went On Trial For Being a Werewolf) *** It's first sighting was described as “half man and half beast, standing about five feet six inches, with a tall pointed head. Whatever it was that he had seen, he was convinced that it was neither a bear nor a monkey.” We take a look at the mysterious creature, the Yeti. (Taking a Look At the Yeti Phenomenon) *** On May 16, 1929, Al Capone was arrested in Philadelphia on gun-carrying charges – but it was a put-up job that unfortunately led to a year in prison and Capone's first encounters with the ghost that he believed haunted him to the grave! (Al Capone and the Ghost of Jimmy Clark) *** Seeing an intruder while in the shower may sound cliché for the movies – but not so much when it happens to you. (Those Strange Fingertips) *** Multiple women have disappeared without a trace from what has become known as Ireland's ‘vanishing triangle'. Their fates still remain a mystery. (The Ireland Vanishings) *** When you see something out of the corner of your eye, simply to turn and not see anything there… is it your imagination, or is something else at work? (From Work to Home) *** The ancient pterodactyl, the legendary thunderbird, the cryptid known as the Mothman: could they all be one and the same?
