Listening to Martin Waslewski is like taking a journey that blurs the boundaries of electronic music: with groovy tracks, between house and melodic techno, he tells musical stories without saying a word too much and thus always and immediately hits the nerve of the crowd in his sets. To the point! Martin discovered his love for electronic music in 2010 after growing up in hip hop. And so he is now at home with labels such as Bar 25, Get Physical, Stil vor Talent, Monaberry, Exploited Ghetto. But he's also no stranger to the international scene - from New York, Bogota and Ibiza to the Amsterdam Dance Event and Sonar Festival in Barcelona - he's already made a lot of people happy with his music. Johann Merrich's Brevi Storie: The EMS Series Johann Merrich's Brevi Storie [Short Stories] inaugurates a new chapter dedicated to the past, present and future of Electronic Music Studios: are EMS still active? Who works there and how? The podcast series includes a collection of interviews, sounds and music to discover EMS' legacies and new talents. Episode #5 From Istanbul to Berlin is dedicated to the history of Turkish electronic music, narrated by Başak Günak. Berlin-based, Istanbul born Başak Günak is a musician, composer and sound artist, also internationally known as AH! KOSMOS in the field of electronic music. She released two LPs from Compost Records & Denovali Records and numerous EPs. Both timeless and otherworldly, Günak's work unconsciously defies being tied to a genre, tapping into something beyond an immediate surrounding or experience to communicate something more transcendental. Günak uses polyrhythms, electronic composition and found sounds to build a mystical world of modulation into which one can sink and be carried away.Günak pursues her sound experimentations as a sound artist, composing soundscapes for theater, contemporary dance, film and visual art projects, and realising site-specific performances. Her works have been featured worldwide in several festivals and institutions, such as Barbican Theatre, Berlin CTM, Sonar Festival, Rotterdamse Schouwburg, Kunstmuseum Basel, Prague Quadrennial and Istanbul International Theatre Festival. In 2020, she presented her latest solo sound installation THE WELL, a piece for 11 speakers and performance in VKV Museum Istanbul. In 2021, she has done composition and sound design for Berlin State Museums, Kunstmuseum Basel and granted a residency in HELLERAU for her upcoming sound installation. Currently, she is working on compositions for a project in Martin-Gropius Bau. More about Ah! Kosmos: https://ahkosmos.com/ http://instagram.com/ahkosmos Picture credit: Arda Funda Track list: 1. Ah! John Tejada on the Virtual Sessions presented by The DJ Sessions 6/28/22 About John Tejada - Normally associated with his peers in techno from Detroit, Europe and elsewhere, John Tejada has embraced electronic music as a personal frontier, expanding on his resume as a techno recording artist as producer, remixer, DJ, and label owner. Known for crafting a brand of subtle, musical techno, his recorded output ranges across tempo and genre lines, from chilled out affairs with spacious arrangements to pulsating, densely layered, deeply energetic tracks that work magnificently in the hands of DJs as well as on the home stereo. John Tejada was born in Vienna, Austria on April 21, 1974. His parents, both professional classical musicians (his mother an opera singer and father a conductor) began his early piano training at the age of 4. In the summer of 1982, John would move with his mother to her place of birth, Los Angeles. It was that summer at the age of 8 another instrument would catch his eye, the drums. Teaching himself to play along to classic rock music, John quickly learned his way around the drum set (an instrument he still plays to this day in his I'm Not A Gun project).  Everything changed however when he got his first taste of early 80's hip hop music. The impact of those early productions and electronic experimentation was very strong. Soon after, at the age of 12 John was given his first set of turntables and a mixer. He wanted to figure out everything he was hearing DJs do at that time. His first gigs came at the age of 12 for his own school, DJing his school dances. Soon after his fascination with DJing began his fascination with production began. Just as he was completely determined to learn the tricks of local DJs, he now wanted to know how the music was made. His introduction came around the age of 15, when he acquired his first looping delay. Soon after came his first workstation, an Ensoniq EPS sampler. This opened up a whole new world of possibilities. John spent every part of his day honing his craft. In 1991, while still in high school, John was already recording his first productions. He was also involved in college radio, even though he was just a junior in high school. John had a spot on “The Fly ID Show” with DJ Rob One. John produced the show's first record for Rob and also went on to do some hip hop production on Ruthless Records. It was during this time that he met his long time collaborator and best friend Arian Leviste.  The two met at a hip hop recording session in ‘91. John, already tired of the hip hop scene and where it was going, spent hours talking to Arian about acid house, techno, ambient house and everything they seemed to have in common. The two agreed they would meet weekly to compose material. It took some time before they would release any music, but in 1994 they pressed up their own single and that started a chain reaction of releases. John and Arian during this time also were accepted into CalArts' (California Institute for the Arts) electronic music program, but both decided not to attend to hone their craft on their own. Soon after, John enjoyed a series of releases on European labels like A13, Multiplex, and Generations R&S. In the fall of 1996 he started his own label, Palette Recordings as an outlet to release his own productions without having anyone tell him how to do it. The demand for his music continued to grow and labels such as Ferox, Sino, Mosaic, Immigrant, Plug Research, Pokerflat and 7th City all released Tejada 12”s. John began traveling internationally in ‘97 to showcase his DJ skills around the globe, traveling to more than 25 countries and playing various clubs and festivals around the world. Festivals included Movement (formerly The Detroit Electronic Music Festival), Sonar Festival (in Spain and Tokyo), Dance Valley (Netherlands), Sync Festival (Greece), Mutek Mexico, as well as internationally known spaces such as Fabric (London), Yellow (Tokyo), Rex Club (Paris), The Walt Disney Concert Hall (Los Angeles) and many more. In 1999, John met classical jazz guitarist Takeshi Nishimoto, which was the beginning of another musical frontier. The two had a similar meeting as John and Arian had years before and began talking about making music. The project I'm Not A Gun was born and signed soon after to Berlin-based City Center Offices. This project would bring back John's own training as a drummer while also trying his hand at the guitar. The project became a mix of John's own electronic productions along with Takeshi's professional guitar playing and John's drumming. The project has enjoyed great reviews and success the world over and the duo has performed live in LA, Japan and Germany. In the summer of 2004, John would - in one week - create the two songs that would catapult his techno career. The classic “Sweat On The Walls,” and “Mono On Mono” were released almost at the same time on two different labels. “Sweat” was released on Pokerflat and “Mono On Mono” on Palette. Together the two records sold over 23,000 copies on vinyl. This lead to the equally successful follow up singles “Paranoia,” “Mind Bend” (with more recent collaborator and Palette-signing, Justin Maxwell) “Voyager,” and “The End Of It All.” With dozens of singles and remixes to his credit, he has also produced full-length albums for Playhouse, Palette, Plug Research, deFocus, Moods and Grooves, Immigrant and A13. Talent powerhouse- HAAi (Teneil) talks music, inspiration, plug-ins, giving back, dealing with self doubt, patience and more:) HAAi, aka Teneil Throssell, rose from the ashes of a disbanded psych band, where she was vocalist and guitar player and, inspired by a chance trip to Berghain, started DJing by digging into a wealth of music on the psychedelic spectrum from around the globe. Her Coconut Beats parties in Dalston led to shows on Rinse FM and Worldwide FM, and eventually to a prestigious residency at the London club Phonox where Throssell played Saturday nights for two years (up until autumn 2018), a rarity in the city's nightlife. This allowed her to gather a devoted audience for her selecting finesse and propulsive style. As her residency came to end, BBC Radio 1 broadcast her Essential Mix which went on to win the accolade of the Essential Mix of the Year. HAAi was then granted a monthly Radio 1 slot, which continues into 2020. The end of her residency at Phonox allowed HAAi to play shows and big festival stages all over the world, over the last year, HAAi has won over crowds at renowned events such as Sonar Festival and Glastonbury, been responsible for an incredibly memorable Boiler Room and found an ever-increasing fanbase internationally who have bought into her eclectic selections. HAAi's taste in music is unique and diverse, revelling in tracks full of intricate detail and character. Her sets are infused with heavy bass lines - from breaks to thumping techno - as well as all manner of percussive elements. A lover of heavy textures and extended, winding grooves her mixes bare the fingerprints of the psychedelic music that brought her to DJing; krautrock, African funk, Turkish and East Asian freakouts aide her in creating atmospheres of increasing intensity. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/undergroundwithnida0/message

DJ/producer Gunnar Stiller has seen Berlin transform considerably over the last couple of decades, soaking in influence as well as helping shape its development as a musical force, becoming a fixture of the city's scene along the way. Whether playing in clubs around the world such as Panorama Bar and Watergate in Berlin, Hive Club Zurich, Baum in Bogotá and Glow Bangkok or producing his own tracks for respected labels like Upon. You Records, Smiley Fingers, Voltage Musique and Ballroom Records, Stiller's technique is deep in character, an outward-reaching combination of techno and techhouse with his trademark funk-tinged basslines. In 2003 while working as manager for Berlin-based event agency No Ufos, Gunnar found himself in the heart of a perfect playground to gain insight and develop his own style, which at the time was focused on deep house, breaks and electro. Inspired by those around him such as Steve Bug, Matthias Tanzmann and Martin Landsky, Stiller quickly began to carve out his own sound that impressed not just the dancers filling the floor but also any promoter and organizer who was paying attention. Pushing himself toward further success, he founded the artist alliance Edelmut in 2004 along with a few of his friends, an endeavor which quickly gained them notoriety as they played in the city's top clubs like Watergate, Bar25 and later the infamous KaterHolzig , the latter of which invited Gunnar to become a resident DJ, a position he gladly accepted. On top of this, he became a regular player at the legendary HomeSweetHome sessions. His debut release, the Heideberg EP, and its followup the Manaus Madness EP – both on Voltage Musique – landed directly within the Top 5 German club charts, and Marek Hemmann's remix of “Manaus Madness” was voted the #10 best remix by dance music authority Groove Magazine's 2010 readers' poll. It was around this time that Gunnar joined Upon. You Records as part of their label and booking roster, releasing a lot more EPs and contributing to the acclaimed label compilation Upon. You Diary, which was compiled by himself in 2014. These where followed by collaborations and remix projects with artists like Solomun, AndHim, Layo & Bushwacka!, Alex Niggemann, Danny Serrano, Ray Okpara, Nikola Gala, Larry Cadge, Odd People, Samuel Dan, Nakadia, Dj Le Roi or Loko and more released tracks on labels like Clap Your Hands, Smiley Fingers and Time Has Changed. In the last few years, he has been booked to play at top festivals such as Sonar Festival, Amsterdam Dance Event, Melt! Festival and Sonnemondsterne, in clubs throughout Eastern and Western Europe as well as South America, Asia, Australia and Africa, sharing the booth with the likes of Richie Hawtin, Ricardo Villalobos, Carl Craig, Laurent Garnier and Luciano. _____________________________ ✘ Stay connected w/ Frau Holle: Soundcloud: @clubfrauholle Facebook: www.facebook.com/frauhollehamburg/ Instagram: www.instagram.com/club_frauholle/ Artwork: KatjaNö, Hanna Steinhoff Text: Anja Grims / Grimseline Curator: Lars Moston Premieres and Newcomer Mixes Submissions: clubfrauholle@gmail.com ✘ Gunnar Stiller(Upon. You Records) Soundcloud: @gunnar-stiller Instagram: www.instagram.com/gunnarstiller/ www.uponyou-records.com/artists/gunnar-stiller/ Resident Advisor: www.residentadvisor.net/dj/gunnarstiller Bookings : fabian@nervoes.ch

Bethany Younge’s acoustic and electronic music explores the manifold kinesthetic properties of musical performance. For her, the act of music-making cannot be divorced from the physical presence of the human instigator. Her works often incorporate instrumental deconstruction, exaggerated movement, motion tracking, sounding costumes, and/or other aesthetic devices to sonically heighten corporeal expressivity. Younge is currently pursuing her DMA in Music Composition at Columbia University in New York. Her works have been featured in the 2016 and 2018 International Summer Course for New Music Darmstadt, Resonant Bodies Festival, Gaudeamus Muziekweek, The 16th International Young Composers Meeting, and many other festivals. She has worked with many ensembles including JACK Quartet, Distractfold, ASKO|Schönberg Ensemble, TAK Ensemble, TILT Brass, Sputter Box, KLANG, Ereprijs Orkestra, Fonema Consort, AndPlay, Chartreuse, Gyre Ensemble, Ekmeles Vocal Ensemble, Inversion Ensemble, Mocrep, and others throughout Europe and the USA. In 2016, she was awarded the Stipend Prize at the International Summer Course for New Music Darmstadt. She was also awarded a commission prize by National Sawdust, in New York City and the 10th Mivos/Kanter prize. Bethany was one of TAK's commissioned composers of the 2019-2020 season, and we premiered her work "at midnight I walked into the middle of the desert" at Saint Mary's Church in Harlem last fall. On today's episode, Bethany speaks with Merche Blasco, a multimedia artist and composer based in New York. Blasco designs and builds imprecise technological assemblages that catalyze embodied forms of live electroacoustic composition and new modes of listening. Through her constructed devices, she attempts to establish a more horizontal relationship with other entities, distancing herself from parameters of precision, power, and control. As an alternative form of performance, she engineers collaborative spaces with instruments that are given their own agency, in compositions where her body and the live exploration of organic materials are central elements. She has presented her performances and installations at the Whitney Museum of American Art, Sonar Festival in Barcelona, La Biennale di Venezia, NIME conferences, Tsonami International Sound Art Festival in Chile, The High Line in New York, SONIC Festival, Mapping Festival (Geneva), Queens Museum of Art and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Santiago de Chile, among others. Her work has been featured in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and The Wire magazine. feeder insider w/ Ali Nasser [E VOIE] Ali Nasser este omul care nu se duce. Read more @ feeder.ro/2019/09/04/sound-ali-nasser

Brooklyn Queen of Heavy Bass Star Eyes is known for throwing down raw, dirty underground tracks, from grime bangers to ghetto house, Miami bass classics to speaker-rattling dubstep stormers. Spinning for more than 15 years, this veteran bad girl has always loved low-end—she was one of first female drum & bass DJs in the US (and a resident of S.F.’s long-running Eklektic night) as well as half of the Syrup Girls (called “New York’s best-kept secret” by New Yorker music critic Sasha Frere-Jones). Star Eyes has played all over the world, from the Vans Warped Tour to Sonar Festival, from London’s famed Fabric to Berlin squats, from Cape Town to Burning Man, and opened for such acts as Diplo, Moby, AFI, The XX, The Streets, and Girl Talk. In 2006, Drop the Lime and Star Eyes founded the now world-famous Trouble & Bass crew/record label, which also includes AC Slater, The Captain, and affiliates worldwide. In June 2009, the Trouble & Bass label released her first EP, Disappear, featuring a mix of goth and rave influences whipped into a style she calls “haunted house.” Since then she has unleashed more tracks for the label, including "Cry Baby," her White Gloves EP, and her forthcoming The Night EP (October/November 2011). She has also released remixes for Michna, Creep, Hussle Club, Hanuman, Riviera, Lil’ Tal, and Funerals, as well as several goth/industrial mixes (in conjunction with Psychic TV and Death in June, respectively) for Brooklyn clothing company Mishka NYC, whom she's sponsored by. Star Eyes vocals also appear on tracks by John B (Beta Recordings) and Passions (Kitsuné), and she is the former editor-in-chief of the music magazine XLR8R.

Black Devil Disco Club This rare live set was recorded at the Sonar Festival in Barcelona in June 2007. Black Devil 'Disco Club' ep was one of the most legendary and sought after of all the leftfield disco records of the late 70s, meshing insistent live drumming, hypnotic electronics, tape loops and sidereal vocals into a mysterious, dark and delirious disco masterwork. The work of French library composers Benard Fevre and Jacky Giordano, the record gained totemic status amongst electro-disco afficonados, eventually leading to a timely re-issue on Rephlex Records in 2004.28 years after the original vinyl appeared, Bernard Fevre has teamed up with electronic musician Gwen Jamois to reconvene the Black Devil Disco Club, further exploring the realms of dark, hypnotic and subliminally seductive electronic disco first hinted at by the original 1978 record, resulting in pair of LPs on Lo Recordings (lorecordings.com) and a series of remixes. .Brought to you by Magz Hall from www.youarehear.co.ukSubscribe to the podcast you can get emails alerts sent to you direct everytime we update the feed. feedback http://www.myspace.com/youarehear - Buy YAH sessions CD now !!!features Pram, Juana Molina, Murcof, The Lonesome Organist, Man Fron Uranus, Germalin, Robotobibok, Momus, Ninki V, CarterTutti, Asja Auf Capri, No Bra, MissHawaii, Noxagt, David Grubbs, Oxbow, This is the Kit, Oddfellows Casino and Vanishing Breed http://www.myspace.com/hearingaidrecordsnet Latest YOU ARE HEAR SHOW on www.totallyradio.comPodcast of the week in Time Out London!! Sonar Special feat Tucker, Schnider TM, Snr Coconut, June 2006Magz Hall brings www.youarehear.co.uk brings you a new podcast friendly You Are Hear show featuring highlights from the Sonar Festival in Barclelona featuring live sets from:www.youarehear.co.ukTuckerThe man behind "Electoon Wizard" continues to plough his own original furrow - old school hip-hop, with a touch of humour on the organ keyboard and a pile of toy instruments. Part jazz, part funk, part Martian. With Boney M covers thrown in.http://www.oddjob.jp/The Modified Toy OrchestraIf you thought every instrument possible had been invented, think again. Here is Brian Duffy to make you change your mind. The man behind Warm Circuit Records has been adapting toys for years to make them into musical objects that are as entertaining as they are original. JakeThis North American's approach to hip-hop is most unusual. The man behind the famous "Jack the Rapper" brings together a mass of influences, styles and benchmarks (including a version of the Buzzcocks), to make his lyrics into a true musical feast that is not suitable for purists. http://www.jakelovesyou.com/Senior CoconutUwe Shmidt's maverick spirit and a fascination for Latin music has led to him playing a key role in the history of electronic music. The latest is "Yellow Fever!" a tribute to the legendary Yellow Magic Orchestra, in an electronic cumbia, bolero and cha-cha-cha style. Pure magic. http://www.essayrecordings.com/Schneider TM Dirk Dresselhaus is very comfortable on the fine line separating indie from electronica. “Škoda Mluvit”, his latest release on City Slang, is in the same vein, despite his description of it as indie-rock ragga. A melange of sounds which mixes guitar arrangements with beats and breaks with pop and glitch as if they were predestined to be together. http://www.schneidertm.net/and Marina Yangisawa Marina Yanagisawa's "Howlin" is a unique musical instrument largely inspired by the legendary Theremin, one of the oldest electronic instruments. This device built from acrylic pipes and microphones makes howling sounds, which are normally thought unpleasant and impossible to control, into a pleasant musical experience.
