Welcome to today's podcast, where we'll explore a topic that's at the heart of living a purposeful and resilient life: Building on a Strong Foundation. Just like a house needs a solid base to withstand storms, and as I recently found, a shower needs solid waterproofing, our lives require a foundation built on core values, integrity, and a commitment to growth. These elements shape the way we handle challenges, make decisions, and pursue meaningful goals. In this episode, we'll dive into what it means to have a strong foundation, why it matters, and how we can cultivate one that supports us through life's ups and downs. Unlock the wisdom of ancient debates and discover how two opposing viewpoints can both hold truth. Our latest episode challenges the notion of conflict resolution within Jewish law, taking inspiration from the timeless arguments between Beit Shammai and Beit Hillel. We explore why the rulings typically follow Beit Hillel and what this teaches us about humility, openness, and respectful debate. These lessons carry parallels to today's public policy discussions and societal tensions, offering fresh insights into navigating modern disagreements.Success doesn't happen overnight, and a friend's remarkable journey from nothing to building a booming business is a testament to this truth. Through their story, we explore the virtues of perseverance and patience, drawing connections to a Talmudic debate on the value of human existence amidst life's challenges. Life isn't without its struggles, but these moments are ripe with potential for spiritual growth and self-reflection. We'll share how the lessons of the Talmud and morning blessings can inspire us to make the most out of our lives. Finally, we celebrate the spiritual over the material, emphasizing the significance of values and humility in our daily lives. Through personal stories and reflections, we discuss the impact of parental attitudes on children's perception of wealth, and the importance of instilling values that transcend materialism. As we wrap up, we extend our heartfelt gratitude for the community's support of the Talmud study class at Torch, encouraging listeners to share the joy of Torah study. Wishing everyone a Shabbos filled with learning, gratitude, and friendship._____________The Thinking Talmudist Podcast shares select teachings of Talmud in a fresh, insightful and meaningful way. THE DANGERS OF COMPROMISE. The Montyman and Roger explore the theme of compromise within the faith community and its implications for individuals in recovery. They reflect on the dangers of compromising one's values and beliefs, drawing on historical insights from Paul Harvey's 1965 commentary, 'If I Were the Devil.' The discussion emphasizes the spiritual battle against compromise, the importance of adhering to foundational truths, and the need for individuals to recognize the consequences of their choices. The episode concludes with a call to action for listeners to evaluate their own lives and the compromises they may be making. Where does the rubber meet the road when it comes to our spiritual practices? What principles, beliefs, and values underlie our spiritual practices? How might contemplating them more deeply help us orient towards practices that align with the chapter of life we're in?This is the first installment (hopefully of many more) where I explore the theme of embodied practical spirituality. Our spiritual practices don't exist in a vacuum. They are part of the larger ecosystem of our lives. How do we begin building bridges between our so-called mundane realities and our spiritual lives? What caused the divide in the first place? How might we begin dissolving the arbitrary divisions and embracing the potential for our daily reality to initiate us?Drop any questions you may have for me here.Photo by Andres Siimon via Unsplash. In this lecture, we delve into the profound wisdom of acting without scruple and its transformative power in our lives and character development. As Freemasons, we are reminded of the importance of living with integrity and honor, even when faced with challenging decisions. The principle of acting without scruple stems from the traditions of operative stonemasonry, where adhering to high standards of craftsmanship and integrity was paramount to ensure the safety of those who would inhabit the buildings constructed.Today, in speculative Freemasonry, acting without scruple translates into living by our values, standing firm in our convictions, and acting with honesty and compassion. We are called to uphold moral and spiritual integrity, even in the face of adversity or temptation. This principle requires courage and commitment to doing what is right, whether it involves speaking out against injustice or upholding ethical standards in the workplace.Living according to the principle of acting without scruple may present challenges, including resistance from those who do not share our values or the temptation to compromise integrity for short-term gains. It is crucial to reflect on our values, motives, and surround ourselves with like-minded individuals who support our commitment to integrity and honor.By consistently acting without scruple, we experience a profound transformation in our lives, gaining confidence in our decisions, building authentic relationships based on trust and respect, and finding fulfillment in making a positive impact in the world. Embracing this principle with courage and conviction not only fulfills our obligations as Masons but also as individuals committed to upholding moral fortitude and making a difference in the world. This journey of living without scruple leads to personal growth, strengthens our fraternity, and contributes to creating a better world for all, reflecting the timeless wisdom of our craft and leaving a lasting legacy of goodness and light.Show Notes:Watch as a Video on YoutubeRead original article on SubstackFollow the Daily Masonic Progress Podcast on SpotifySubscribe to the Daily Masonic Progress Podcast on Apple PodcastsRead and subscribe to Daily Masonic Progress on SubstackWatch and Subscribe Youtube
Learning to live by spiritual values that recognise God's presence, control, and purposes, will bring the freedom, courage, and strength required to follow Him in all of life's circumstances. || Scripture || 1 Samuel 24:2-19
When I first met Mādhurī Pūra Dāsa, I was taken aback by his unique blend of vastly different sensibilities. Here was a man who had traded the tranquility of monastic life for the hustle and bustle of entrepreneurship, unifying spiritualism with the practicalities of life. His story inspired us to explore how understanding one's own needs, both physical and spiritual, can lead to a truly fulfilling life. In our chat, he emphasized the concept of Karma, and the vital importance of personal responsibility. His spiritual worldview didn't simply allow him to thrive in his business ventures but enabled him to take control of his life. The humility of his journey, from making more money in two weeks on his first pilgrimage than he did in an entire year, is a testament to his philosophy of self-reliance and embracing the work required to shape our destiny. As we conclude our episode, Mādhurī Pūra Dāsa shared the tremendous value he found in service and the power of like-minded spiritual communities. His story is a poignant reminder of how our spiritual worldview molds our perception of success and how an attitude of receptivity to divinity can open new opportunities. His tale of self-discovery and the intersection of spirituality and practical life offers an alternative narrative of success, that all of us can learn from. I've noticed that many service providers who consider themselves “spiritual” often toss their spirituality out the window when it comes to marketing... They trust the marketers and ignore their own values and heart. This kind of disconnection is not necessary (and actually harmful) if you want a successful, authentic business. In this video I discuss how genuinely caring for your people can be the core of your "marketing strategy".Comment here:https://youtu.be/WpzesUSlA3g
In this episode of For Soul's Sake, I had the pleasure of speaking with Dayal Gauranga, the Program Director for the Bhakti Center in New York City. Dayal has dedicated his life to spiritual study, reflection, and service, and his insights were truly inspiring. From his humble beginnings, becoming a monk at the age of 18, to now continuing to live and serve in New York City as the Program Director for the Bhakti Center, Dayal's journey is an inspiration to us all. His love for music has made Kirtan and devotional singing a critical part of his own spiritual practice and he has shared his wisdom with others through regular Kirtan trainings and workshops around the world. During our conversation, Dayal opened up about his personal struggles with mental health, relationship crisis, and moral failings. He shared the importance of recognising that we are not alone in our struggles and the impact of having someone who sees and understands us. We also discussed the issue of criticism and how to determine whose opinion really matters in our lives. Throughout the podcast, Dayal emphasised the importance of finding refuge in something higher than ourselves, whether it be spirituality, community, or personal growth. He shared his own journey towards finding inner peace and the fulfilment that comes with helping others. Our conversation was enlightening and inspiring. Dayal's wisdom on spirituality and personal growth is invaluable, and I am grateful to have had the opportunity to speak with him and share his wisdom with you all! 0:05:45 "Exploring Spiritual Values and the Impact of Difficult Relationships"0:08:52 Reflections on Monastic Life0:12:56 Discussion on Letting Go of the Idea of Being the Center of Attention0:14:03 Leadership and Spiritual Values 0:19:51 Spiritual Practice of Loving Others0:21:47 Love, Forgiveness, and Misgivings0:24:58 Developing a Loving Relationship with a Higher Power0:26:35 Finding Love and Taking Time for Self-Care0:27:55 Dealing with Criticism0:29:26 How to Avoid Criticizing Others and Deal with Criticism0:33:15 Receiving and Criticizing Criticism: Determining Whose Opinion Matters0:36:40 "Exploring the Impact of Criticism on Our Self-Conception"0:39:33 Seeing God's Lessons and Blind Spots0:41:38 Intimate Relationships and Finding Blockages to Love0:47:51 Making an Impact and Rising Above Challenges Want to connect further?Instagram: www.instagram.com/radhika_dasa/Facebook: www.facebook.com/radhikadasmusicYouTube: www.youtube.com/c/RadhikaDasWebsite: www.radhikadas.comPatreon: www.patreon.com/radhikadasLinktree: linktr.ee/radhika_dasa

At times, we base our values on society, our imagination, or our rebellious spirit. However, those values are subject to change, so it's important for us to consider the source. Everyone is a part and parcel of a Supreme Divine Being. Rather than compartmentalizing, let's integrate spiritual values in all aspects of our lives. We are meant to carry out the duties of this lifetime within the context of our eternal identity.
There is never a bad time to inquire and to have doubts. Arjuna is on the precipice of war, and in the midst of all that, he took the time to reflect and ask Krishna questions. We are allowed to struggle and to share our challenges with the people we trust. Let's not hold ourselves and others to a rigid standard. Conflict, confrontation, and conflict resolution are all within spiritual values. We are never alone! Let's create space for ourselves and each other to open up about the challenges we carry in our minds and hearts.

A basketball star in his own right talks about spiritual leadership. He talks a lot about mind, body, and soul as a foundation for him throughout life. Tyler reads a lot of books that support his belief in the mind, body, and soul. Tyler likes to teach through experiences by supporting the young generation through basketball and educational programs that he volunteers for. He believes in having strong confidence to know how to speak your truth and be aligned with what you believe. Tyler agrees that the work that inputs into reading is helping him become a better individual. You need to know yourself. He is very spiritual in his efforts to lead beyond the basketball industry. He has developed a strong vision board that helps him navigate through his personal goals. Be yourself.

One of the reasons people have so many problems is that they do not have the right values. Disciples who have the right attitudes within them are living with the right values. That is why they can have a salt and light influence in the world; their priorities are based on eternity and not on earthly treasures.

You’re either governed in part by your values, or you're neglecting them & governed by someone else’s values. Walking a spiritual path of purpose is a commitment to your highest self, to all fellow humanity & to Source. It's in this simple yet profoundly deep & life changing commitment that you can truly find your purpose in the world. Knowing that no matter what life may place before you, you have your spiritual values like a north star shining on the dark night, lighting your path toward the new day.
I talk with the host of The Michael Brooks Report...you guessed it, Michael Brooks! Michael and I cover a lot of ground, but stay close top the topic of spirituality and the left, and why spiritual values have been the site of leftist suspicion for a long time. We also, of course, talk all about Marianne Williamson.
Currently many people are seeking a spiritual practice that offers real results, such as, personal transformation and life change. Today we are talking to Greg Marcus, PhD, practitioner and coach of American Mussar. His book 'The Spiritual Practice of Good Actions: Finding Balance Through the Soul Traits of Mussar' will be the topic of our discussion as he leads us to understand some of the specific practices that are meant to bring everyday life into alignment with spiritual values. Mussar is a thousand-year-old Jewish practice of spiritual growth based on mindful living. Don't miss this excellent example of the implementation of spiritual practice.
Spiritual Values and Physical Values (Chanukah Mesibah 5779)
Advent is that season in the church’s liturgical calendar that focuses our attention on preparation for the celebration of Christmas. It corresponds with the dying of the natural world and its slow, inexorable movement toward the winter solstice—the shortest day of the year—and the turning that marks the slow recovery towards spring. It is also the Church’s annual reminder that the great celebration of Christmas is most profoundly experienced as the culminating event in a season of attentiveness to our deepest longings. The secular (e.g. commercial) calendar, of course, skips over this aspect in its headlong rush toward Christmas. Drawing upon the resources of poetry, music and literature, David will explore three central spiritual themes of the Advent season—inner darkness, waiting, and hope. These three themes are among the necessary conditions by which we create the quality of readiness—as C.S. Lewis once put it, to be “surprised by joy.”

Interspirituality with Kurt Johnson Episode Recap Show Notes: • Early Years – Kurt discusses some of his early life events—including depression, scientific studies and much more—and how they led him to his life’s passion. • Wayne Teasdale – Kurt shares about his deep friendship with the wonderful Brother Wayne Teasdale, the impact he had on his life, and the continuing impact his work has in the world. • Interspirituality – In The Coming Interspiritual Age, Kurt writes, “Interspirituality is the natural discussion among human beings about what we are experiencing. In academic terms, it’s the intersubjective discussion among us all about who we are, why we are here, and where we are going. In the context of religion, interspirituality is the common heritage of humankind’s spiritual wisdom and the sharing of wisdom resources across traditions. In terms of our developing human consciousness, interspirituality is the movement of all these discussions toward the experience of profound interconnectedness, unity consciousness, and oneness.” Kurt and I explore what it means to be interspiritual and how it can deepen our spiritual paths. • Everyone’s A Mystic – Kurt and I explore our mutual friend Ken Wilber’s four quadrants of “I”, “We”, “It” and “It’s” and how they relate to each of us being a mystic. • Scientific Consciousness Studies – Kurt talks about scientific consciousness studies, discussing our basic experience of consciousness and “raw feeling”, quantum ideas of consciousness, and the future of unconsciousness.
