Superhero violence and graphic action sequences are prevalent on the screen and on the page, but this book takes an alternative route with practical guidance, frameworks, and tools for incorporating the principles of peacebuilding and nonviolence into compelling fiction. By mapping a path less travelled but just as vital in divisive times, in n A Fiction Writer's Guide to Peace: Crafting Nonviolent Heroism (Bloomsbury, 2025) Dr. Gabriel Ertsgaard shows writers how they can enact nonviolent heroism in their characters, model civil resistance in their stories, and create worlds around a mythos that champions redemptive nonviolence. With concepts applicable to writing for fiction, drama, the screen, and narrative poetry, A Fiction Writer's Guide to Peace deconstructs the necessity for violence in popular works, explores key concepts in peace studies, and helps writers establish their own peace poetics. Focused around the narrative craft techniques of character arcs, campaigns, duels, and worldbuilding, the book features numerous creative writing prompts and examples from key works. These include films such as Trading Places, Selma, Lage Raho Munna Bai, and Frozen and literature ranging from Shakespeare's plays to Dickens' A Christmas Carol to Julia Quinn's Bridgerton novels. A timely and important expansion to any writer's toolkit, A Fiction Writer's Guide to Peace allows storytellers to understand the complex dynamics of, and the damage caused by, violent perspectives and actions, giving them a way into considering nonviolence as powerful and preferable. This interview was conducted by Dr. Miranda Melcher whose book focuses on post-conflict military integration, understanding treaty negotiation and implementation in civil war contexts, with qualitative analysis of the Angolan and Mozambican civil wars. In this episode we talk about what is no doubt the most anticipated movie of 2025, James Gunn's “Superman.” Gunn is more known for his quirky movies with unusual characters engaged in constant frenetic action. This time he takes on the most well-known superhero, the first son of Krypton. No small feat. Can he make everyone with their own idea of who they think Superman should be happy? In this latest Superman movie, Superman (David Corenswet) has been protecting Earth for a few years along with working at the Daily Planet with Lois Lane (Rachel Brosnahan.) In the meantime, his arch nemesis Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult) is hatching plans with the government to rationalize taking Superman out. Superman just might need all the help he can get and he might get that from the Justice Gang with Green Lantern, Mr. Terrific and Hawk Girl. Also, we can't forget Superman's furry friend, Krypto. Can Superman survive what Lex and the government got coming for him? Is it worth going to the theater to find out? All will be revealed in this episode of Movies Merica. “Superman” also stars Frank Grillo, Alan Tudyk, Maria Gabriela de Faria, Sara Sampaio, Dinesh Thyagarajan, Wendell Pierce, Michael Ian Black, Beck Bennett, Skyler Gisondo and Mikaela Hoover. Support the showFeel free to reach out to me via:@MoviesMerica on Twitter @moviesmerica on InstagramMovies Merica on Facebook

    Run The Race

The new Superman movie just hit theaters and there's renewed talk about parallels between the famous superhero and spiritual figures like Jesus. I saw the movie. It's a message of hope in a dark world. On this solo episode of "Run The Race" (make sure to subscribe), along with faith symbolism on the big screen, I also talk about how you can get jacked up with workouts like the latest actor playing the Man of Steel. Since Superman was created by a pair of Jewish teens almost 90 years ago, there have been Biblical parallels to the story. Hear some of those specific examples...but also know, fictional superheroes cannot save us and we do not need to be Superman. We can only try to be the best version of ourselves, with the gifts God gave us. I've got some quotes from some other Superman movies about being the "light of the world" and Americans not "needing a savior" along with Bible verses that correlate. And are we headed to a Christian and American revival? There are some ways this new film makes Superman cool again, and the church too. And check out my review of the latest blockbuster movie. On this episode, we also dig a little into how actor David Correnswet built muscle mass and put on 40 pounds for the epic role, including how much he ate daily, a breakdown of those nearly daily workouts, music to get pumped up to, and what exercises you can do to be like Superman. Thanks for listening to the #RunTheRace podcast! Also, write a quick review about it, on Apple podcasts. For more info and all past episodes, go to www.wtvm.com/podcast/.

In this Origin Story Vol. 1 minisode, we go ancient, like really ancient and introduce you to Zoroaster, a Persian prophet who may have accidentally drawn up Satan's first résumé.Before YHWH got possessive and the Christians started branding anyone with hobbies as a witch, Zoroaster was preaching about ONE god ‘Ahura Mazda' and his cosmic nemesis, ‘Angra Mainyu'. Yesterday, I went to see James Gunn's new Superman movie starring David Corenswet. What should I expect? The dark, grim, and joylessness of the Snyderverse? Nope. This movie was a lot of fun with a lot of excitement. It has been criticized in the media as being too 'woke' or political, but I didn't see it that way. This was not a great movie but was a very good one and a promising start to the new (and hopefully improved) DC cinematic universe!

It's progesterone. In this episode of Taco Bout Fertility Tuesday, Dr. Mark Amols reveals how progesterone silently supports pregnancy, stabilizes the uterine lining, and prevents early contractions—all without the recognition it deserves. We break down the science: how progesterone is made from cholesterol, how it converts into testosterone and estrogen, and how granulosa and theca cells work together to build a pregnancy-ready uterus.Plus, Dr. Amols explains why blood levels may look “low” on vaginal progesterone, why that doesn't mean treatment failure, and why route of delivery really matters—especially in frozen embryo transfers.Whether you're trying naturally, doing IUI, or planning an FET, this episode will help you understand what progesterone is really doing behind the scenes—and why it might just be the most important hormone you never thought about. Thanks for tuning in to another episode of 'Taco Bout Fertility Tuesday' with Dr. Mark Amols.
