This week Mike is doing another spoiler-free book review from the High Republic era, with the final book in the second wave (of the first phase) with Out Of The Shadows by Justina Ireland – the young adult novel which is set shortly after The Rising Storm & Race to Crashpoint Tower, with a bunch of new and familiar characters from Into The Dark, A Test Of Courage and more! In more detail, Mike begins by confirming where OOTS sits in the High Republic timeline, as well as confirming what other SW content Justina Ireland has released, before providing his fully spoiler-free review of the book. Mike then reads the blurb & crawl of the book and gives his thoughts on the themes & characters (some who have appeared previously in THR) which features some minor spoilers, including some interesting lore on Hyperspace. After providing these thoughts, Mike finishes his review by providing more-detailed thoughts on the book and confirms the general plot (including the ending) of the book so any listeners who aren't going to read the book still have an idea of what happens and it's impact in the High Republic era. Out Of The Shadows was released July 27th 2021 and is by Justina Ireland. For The High Republic, she also wrote the junior novel A Test Of Courage, the manga Edge of Balance and Mission To Disaster (Phase 1, Wave 3). She also wrote the non-High-Republic SW books Lando's Luck, Spark Of The Resistance and the one-shot comic War Of The Bounty Hunters: Jabba The Hutt 1. Out Of The Shadows is the young adult novel of the second wave of the High Republic's first phase along with the “adult” novel The Rising Storm (reviewed in November 2021) and the junior novel Race To Crashpoint Tower (reviewed in February 2022), all set in 231BBY. Wave 3 (out now) includes Claudia Gray's “adult” novel The Fallen Star plus junior-novel Mission To Disaster by Justina Ireland and Daniel José Older's young-adult novel Midnight Horizon. Mike has also reviewed the Wave 1 books in 2021, which are Light Of The Jedi (reviewed March), A Test Of Courage (August) & Into The Dark (October), all of which take place in 232BBY. Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular was a nighttime show at Walt Disney World's Hollywood Studios that debuted in 2016. Based on the Star Wars franchise, the spectacular featured fireworks, projection mapping, fire, lasers, fog effects, searchlights, and more. The Hollywood Studios Chinese theater is the background for the projections along with some surrounding buildings. As the show evolved and the Star Wars franchise grew, the show was quietly updated with scenes from Rogue One, the Last Jedi, Solo, and The Rise of Skywalker. The show begins with a brief narrated prologue of the 1977 premiere of Star Wars at Grauman's Chinese Theater in Hollywood, California. The main show is divided into segments dedicated to battles, heroes, creatures, romance, and villains. The dramatic opening shot from A New Hope begins the sequence showing various battle scenes from Takodana, Hoth, Jakku, the Death Star, and Starkiller Base. The next segment, dedicated to the series' heroes, features Rey, Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and the Millennium Falcon escape scenes. Three brief segments follow; a cantina segment dedicated to the creatures and aliens, a segment devoted to the Force with Yoda and Obi-Wan Kenobi, and a romance segment with Han Solo, Leia Organa, Anakin Skywalker, and Padmé Amidala. A darker sequence follows, recreating the fiery lightsaber battle between Anakin and Kenobi on Mustafar. The scene segues into a segment dedicated to the series's villains, including Darth Vader, Darth Maul, Palpatine, Supreme Leader Snoke, and Kylo Ren. The trench run attacks on the Death Star and Starkiller Base, Paying off as the finale sequence. The show concludes with a montage of all nine original Star Wars film poster art collaged across the Chinese Theater. This version of Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular is from 2017. In a locked-down virtual wander that takes in Wet Sleddale, Coniston Water, Little Langdale and the rebel planet of Takodana, we consider the tropes of Cumbrian cinema – from 'rural escape' to zombie apocalypse; we learn about the value of Swallows & Amazons and Miss Potter to the tourist economy; we relive the moment enfant terrible Ken Russell fell in love with Lakeland; and we spend too long quoting Withnail and I. David's book, An A-Z of Cumbria and the Lake District on Film, is available from Hayloft.

Ewan McGregor expressed interested in reprising his role as Obi-wan, but couldn’t due to not having a place for him in the story.

Welcome to the second installment of "Tales from Maz's Castle"! Last time our small group of heroes found themselves in a sticky donut situation, and had to leave Jakku in a hurry. Welcome back to our regularly scheduled program of Kanata's Castle! In this episode, Becca and Devon continue on their 'Pathway to The Last Jedi' by discussing the one, and the only character responsible for this podcast. Maz Kanata! Maz Kanata is more than a thousand years old. As wise as she is old, but don't judge her by her size. Her experience and knowledge make up for her pint-size crude matter. Said experience is what has helped her survive the underworld and as long as she has. Throughout the generations, she has seen galactic powers rise and fall and felt the Force come and go in her continuous search to find the balance between the dark and the light side of the Force. From her castle on Takodana, she has given more than her fair share in ways of opportunities to weary and even, the illicit travelers. She has also helped an old friend or two find their way, guiding them down the right path. Yes, Maz Kanata will help lead us down the pathway to 'The Last Jedi.' Weiterlesen »

It's episode 22 of Children of the Force! : STAR WARSY STUFF [1:00] : The kids talk about Star Wars gifts they gave and received for Christmas and spending a Star Wars Christmas with my parents, siblings, in-laws and all the nieces and nephews. : The bulk of my parents' kids and grandkids went to a day-after-Christmas viewing of The Force Awakens. : We've been reading Percy Jackson, which caused me to wonder if Snoke is analogous to a Titan of Greek mythology. Maybe? Probably not? : NEWS [16:15] : The Force Awakens is making a lot of money. People like it. : Rebels is coming. Not sure when, but I saw this from Making Star Wars a few days after the recording of this episode. : CANON NEWS [26:50] : What is the state of the Star Wars galaxy before and during the events of The Force Awakens? : JOKE [39:35] : What did Qui-Gon's Force ghost say to Obi-Wan's Force ghost when that horrible thing happened in The Force Awakens? : QUESTION & ANSWER COUNCIL [40:25] : We have a couple great guest questions on this episode. : @TorpedoTed13 asks, are we going to see Boba Fett in the sequel trilogy? : Mark Leonard of the Ictus Marketing podcast asks what we feel is the best viewing order for Episodes I-VI. : And finally, we have a round of opinion on Rey's parentage. : WHAT THE KIDS ARE SAYING [52:05] : Both Anna and Liam are floored (in the best way possible) by how many people are talking about Star Wars. Liam's classmates are spoiling the heck out of The Force Awakens. He tries to stop them. Anna's friends are coming around to Star Wars which is helping her to further embrace the fact that she's a Star Wars geek. : STUMP THE LUMP [57:10] : The kids quiz me in the inaugural "Stump the Lump" segment. The stumper for the day is: What is the name of the weapon wielded by the Stormtrooper who fights a lightsaber-wielding Finn on Takodana? : OUTRO [1:01:00] : Connect with us, you will... : Leave us a voicemail: https://www.speakpipe.com/ChildrenoftheForce : Twitter: @forcechildren : Facebook: Children of the Force : Email: forcechildren@gmail.com : Website: www.childrenoftheforce.com
