Be sure create a login, become a member of their rewards program, and have the reservation loaded into the app. 3. Trip Advisor - We've been using Trip Advisor since 2015 when our brother in law used it to find the number 1 ranked restaurant on our trip. You can find things to do, restaurant recommendations (you can make folders and save places to eat and stay etc) I like that it rates the top places and you can filter by near you, meal, type of cuisine etc 4. Google Maps - create an account and log in and save places to a folder for the location where you are traveling. Also make use of downloading offline maps if you won't have data when traveling or are traveling to a place where service is limited. 5. A ride share app such as Uber, Lyft or Bolt (when traveling in Europe). Create an account and load profile information and a credit card payment ahead of time. 6. Xe Currency Converter so you'll know what you're actually paying for something. Tip: Get a travel credit card that doesn't have foreign transaction fees and pay for the item in the local currency of asked. 7. Google Translate - We have seen this evolve so much and now being able to record a phrase and then have it translate or pronounce for you is life changing! 8. Google Flights (can also look into others such as Kayak, Hopper, Skyscanner) - use this when planning a trip and watch flights to check prices. The desktop version has lots more features to be able to search by prices on a calendar and also by nearby airports. 9. Credit Card and Banking apps - create online logins and know your passwords etc. This way you can contact your credit card company and bank in the case of a lost or stolen card or denied transaction, etc. Alert your bank and credit cards ahead of time where and when you will be traveling. 10. UpLift to Ease Jet Lag - Listen to Episode 6 for our Full Jet Lag Remedy - it really works! 11. Do you need help in building toughness within yourself? In this podcast episode, Jim and Tyson interview mental toughness expert Steve Magness. They discuss the misconceptions about resilience and how to build true toughness. True ResilienceSteve talks about the thing people get wrong about resilience. Many people think resilience means putting your head down, grinding through anything and not letting emotions get in your way. But, resilience really is navigating discomfort and uncertainty and figuring out ways to decide what is best for you. Navigating new territory is scary and many people get anxious or scared if they don't know what to do. Steve shares that if you do something repetitively in which you are putting yourself in uncomfortable situations, your brain will adjust. It's all about looking for easy ways into that space.True ToughnessLike resilience, many people get true toughness wrong. Toughness is about developing inner strength in order to choose doing something that is difficult. Whether it be lifting weights or running a marathon, there is an inner strength that is needed in order to decide if you are going to do it. There are ways to foster toughness within people and Steve speaks to law firm owners on how best to do it. One thing is giving staff a sense of autonomy, in which people feel they can actively contribute to their teams. Another thing is competency, in which staff have a path to grow and learn.Staff ConnectionsIt is so important to make and keep connections, especially while working virtually. It is easy to feel isolated when working from home and working with people who you never see face to face. Steve provides some insight on how to maintain these relationships. Before virtual work became the norm, there were water cooler talks and coffee breaks where people would get together and get to know one another on a personal level. Since most of that has gone away, Steve emphasizes the importance of finding ways to bring those in between moments back. One way is to spend 5-10 minutes at the beginning of meetings to share updates on what is going on in your life. Maybe ask a colleague how their vacation went or what they got up to on the weekend.Take a listen to learn more!1:30 Steve Magnus discusses the misconceptions about resilience.3:13 How controlled stressors can help build mental toughness and resilience.14:39 How leaders can foster internal confidence and toughness.21:37 Tips on how to foster connection and belonging in the virtual workplace.Jim's Hack: If there is something that you're struggling with, look at the people who have succeeded at doing that thing and do what they do. Steve's Tip: Get outside for a couple minutes, even if it is to just look at something natural. Getting outside has a restorative ability to your cognition. It will help get rid of some of that fatigue and help you perform better.Tysons Tip: Think about how you work and where you're working. Think about reconfiguring things to a way that makes more sense for how you operate and it may help you work more efficiently.Links mentionedBook: Do Hard Things: Why We Get Resilience Wrong and the Surprising Science of Real Toughness by Steve Magness
Are you an attorney who wants to get into the social media space? In this podcast episode, Jim and Tyson discuss the importance of creating engaging and entertaining content for law firm videos and social media. Creating social media content is a difficult skill to master. It takes time and effort to not only understand how certain apps work but also what type of content is going to reel people in. Social media can be used to attract clients, especially those of a younger demographic. Tyson and Jim explore the idea of creating entertaining videos and if it will lead to more viewers and clients. One thing to consider is creating TikTok content that is a mix of fun and legal advice. The fun aspect allows viewers to get to know you as a person and then the legal advice will showcase the expertise.Tyson and Jim talk about how viewers do not like the “ask” in social media content. The point of social media is to attract people to view your content and subscribe. The last thing people want is to have to go the extra mile for a creator all the time if they are asking their audience to do something. Sprinkling in the “selling” is a good way to get your message across. Giving away your best tips and advice will get people to listen. It is a risk because nobody wants to give everything away for nothing in return, but Tyson and Jim promise it is the best way to get the views without throwing things in people's faces. When creating content on apps like Tiktok, it is important to include all the necessary information without taking too much time. Make sure to address the question, provide a solution and have a call to action. It is really important to ensure videos are kept short. No one is going to listen to a video if it is too long because you lose the viewer if you do not get the point. To be successful on social media, it is important to understand the rhythm of the platform. What are people talking about? What are the trends to know and follow? Get to know your audience and understand what they want to see and what questions they need answered. As attorneys, find out what legal advice people want to know. Is it about immigration, privacy, criminal or copyright? From here, you can create content in a way that will help you attain more clients.Take a listen!2:09 The significance of creating engaging and interesting videos5:42 Balance entertaining content with informative legal content10:04 Giving away valuable content to attract clients18:35 The need for law firm videos and social media content to be short19:56 Advice on how to make TikTok videos interesting by following trendsJim's Hack: Read the book $100M Leads: How to Get Strangers to Want to Buy Your Stuff Alex Hormozi Tyson's Tip: Get your personal life organized through a Kanban board. In this week's Marketing Tip we will make it easy for you to regularly create content that entices, educates, and inspires your audience. Welcome to Marketing Tip Monday with SIP Certified. We know customers are looking for wines labeled as sustainable. While our longer-form episodes help you learn about the latest science and research for the wine industry, these twice-monthly micro podcasts will help you share your dedication to sustainable winegrowing so you can show your customers that you share their values. If you've been following along with this series, you created a bank of powerful video and photo visuals last month. Today we're going to share how you can use those images on your brand's social media. If you missed the Tip, just search your podcast player for Sustainable Winegrowing podcast episode 194: The Power of Visuals: How Video and Photos Can Help Share Your Sustainable Story | Marketing Tip Monday. I highly recommend taking a few minutes to link to today's show notes. We are sharing real life social media examples from 3 SIP Certified brands and while I will do my best to describe the images, it helps to see them. Stay tuned to the end to learn how the talent behind our social media, Hayli, creates captivating Reels. How to Use Your Brand's Presence Regularly posting content on your social media keeps your brand in the eyes and minds of your followers. It's a good idea to stay active on your business's social media accounts, but the idea of constantly creating fresh content can be daunting. The good news is, there is an endless supply of content for your brand. Have you heard of food disconnect? It's a term used to describe the average consumer's lack of knowledge about where their food comes from and how it's made. When it comes to wine, most people only see the finished product in the bottle. What may seem day-to-day to you is unique and exciting to consumers. Most wine drinkers do not get to see punch downs, bud break, staff tastings, cover crops, barn owls, or bottling lines. It is all exciting! Use your brand's presence on social media to give an intimate look at all of the care that goes into taking your customers' favorite wines from the vine to the tasting room. Here are 3 examples from SIP Certified brands: 1. Enchant & Entice Villa San Juliette (@villasanjuliette) created a video mash up showing exquisite views of the vines from the tasting room, beautiful Spanish inspired architecture, the crew harvesting grapes into bins, and a table of sumptuous food and wine pairings. Each of these videos could have started out as a standalone post then combined later into one video to tempt followers to pay them a visit this season. Look at your past posts. Can you combine the images into one reel or carousel that showcases your brand? 2. Educate & Delight Anyone who follows Bon Niche Cellars (@bonnichecellars) knows that they can always count on two things from their posts: learning something new and seeing adorable animals! This post does both. The image is a close up of an adorable, fuzzy white sheep with a black nose and long ears. The caption explains how sheep are part of their sustainability program from weed abatement to soil health. Consumers love seeing and learning about animals. Talk about the gopher hunting owls, native bobcats, and friendly dogs at your property. 3. Express & Inspire Foxen Wines (@foxenwines) uses their voice on social media to express their dedication to the social component of sustainability and thank the instrumental people behind their wines. The artfully captured photo shows a hazy sky with a farmworker walking away from the camera carrying a bin of freshly harvested grapes down the vineyard row. Part of the caption reads, “At the heart of our commitment to sustainability lies Social Equity.” Sustainability means taking care of our most valuable resource – the people. Talk about the organizations you donate to and how you care for your staff by providing competitive wages, comprehensive healthcare, and access to education.” Hayli's Tips to Create Great Instagram Reels Have you noticed that the quality of Vineyard Team and SIP Certified's social media content has boomed this year? That's because our newest team member, Hayli, has passion and talent for creating content that is compelling and aesthetically pleasing. We asked her for her top 3 tips to create captivating Reels – these are the short videos, often featuring text and catchy tunes that you see on Instagram. Here's what she said: A Word on Reels “While I love carousels, infographics, and even simple and beautiful photos, Reels bring content to life. Reels offer a unique way to showcase content and allow viewers to feel like they're right there with us, experiencing everything in real-time.” – Hayli Macomber 1. Prep-work. I always get multiple 5- to 15-second video clips during our in-person events. Capturing diverse moments is important. For example, at a Tailgate meeting, I'll take videos of the presenter, panel discussions, the vineyard, attendees networking and enjoying coffee, animal visitors... even a scan of the packed parking lot! These pieces create the "story" later. Tip: Get video from different angles and directions so the movement isn't repetitive. 2. Music. Music plays a significant role in our lives, and Reels are no exception! If I hear music in a Reel that catches my attention, I save the audio (at the bottom right of every Reel with audio, there is a small square image – you can click on it and save the audio for later). It's also good to keep an ear out for trending audio and mix that in... while it's still trending, of course :) Tip: To build a good audio collection, spend 10 minutes each week scrolling through Reels and saving audio. 3. Timing. Music creates the flow of a Reel – I like to change from clip to clip with the beat. It's also good to make sure none of the clips are too long in comparison with the others (i.e. one is 10 seconds and the next one is 3 seconds). If you have a longer video, try splitting it up – use the clips in different sections of the Reel. Tip: In "Edit Video" (bottom left), use 2 fingers to zoom in on the video and audio. This helps transition from clip to clip at the perfect moment!” There are Hayli's 3 tips. To check out our latest posts look for @sipcertified or @thevineyardteam on Instagram. Coming Up... This is a mini-episode. We are going over tips to help alleviate the stress that comes during the back to school season. We know this can be a stressful time for our kids, which in turns makes it stressful for the parents. Our kids feel our emotions, so if we are stressed, they are feeling this. Practical tips on how to handle this will be shared. We also discuss getting back to a school schedule after the summer and how to handle being overwhelmed, knowing when to say no and why it's important to break some of the rules during this time. I'm wishing everyone a great school year and if you need some extra help, you can book a call with me.Back-school-tips to help parents and kids#1 Tip: Take some time to check in with yourself and acknowledge your stress during this chaotic time of year. Your kids sense and feel your emotions. When you have the kid that doesn't like school, you tend to be more reactive. Instead learn ways to listen to your kids using empathy.Try to think of times when you have to do things you really don't want to do so you can understand how your child is feeling.Give yourself a few moments a day to really see what's coming up for you and how you are feeling.Use storytelling to help. Let your kids know how it felt when you went through it as a kid or how you feel when you're starting something new. It's a great way to connect.Talk to your kids about how they feel in general about going back to school. #2 Tip: Get back on your sleep scheduleIf you can, start 10 days before the first day of school and start shifting their bed time back in small increments so it's not detected by your kiddos. If you weren't able to do the shift, adjust your mindset to know that the first week back is going to be a little rough.Be prepared for big emotions until they adjust to their new sleep schedule. Use PARR, Pause, Acknowledge, Respond, Reflect to help with this.# 3 Tip: Letting Go when you are feeling overwhelmedGoing back to school can be a stressful time for both parents and children. Dealing with all the emails and meet the teachers, and buying all the supplies can be so overwhelming.I wrote an article for Detroit that goes over how to let go when life gets overwhelming, linked below. Here are some tips from it.Really get clear on your priorities.Do a rear view mirror test, Author Light Watkins has a test where you envision yourself 10 years from now and ask yourself what do you really want to remember about right now in this day. This helps to really ask what do I need, which most mothers don't sit with or ask themselves. It is so important for mothers to do this.Give yourself permission to break the rules when routines change, it's hard for everyone.Don't make it the week to set rules about screentime, it's ok to break some rules for this week.Plan check-ins with yourself on how things are going. Go over what worked and what didn't, what is really important.Take the time to see what is really a priority in your week, and say no when things don't work with your schedule. When you do this and become really intentional about your time, you will really show up for what you commit to.I hope everyone adjusts quickly to going back to school and also has a great school year!Resources:If you would like to do my 8-week 1:1 coaching with me to get a custom road map on how best to tune into your child's needs, book a free call to see if we are a good fit. https://stan.store/theparentingreframe/theparentingreframe_store/page/51536My article referenced in the podcast. https://www.hourdetroit.com/fitness-wellness/learn-to-let-go-when-life-is-overwhelming/Here is the link to Light Watkins site to check out his challenge that I talked about. https://www.lightwatkins.com/I hope you found this episode helpful; for more parenting tips, check out my website and blog for more information. https://theparentingreframe.com/Sign up for my weekly newsletter and get other free resources. https://theparentingreframe.com/free-resources/Follow me on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theparentingreframe/If you would like a personalized approach to help reframe how you parent, check out my coaching options https://theparentingreframe.com/parent-coaching-packages/

SHOUT OUTS Thanks to all our patrons and everyone in the Runcation Nation for your support and encouragement. Because of you, we have been able to keep the show going over the last two years, and now that the races are returning, we look forward to meeting up with you, too! Happy Mother's Day to all! Congratulations to Jessica and Kelly on their Cocoa Beach 10-Miler. Susie and JoJo were at it again as they traveled to the Indy Mini Marathon, where they got to “kiss the bricks” and hear half of Team Noisy, Rudy, announce their race. Dean and Judy were with us as we all completed the Black Knight DONNA Mother's Day 5K with the other half of Team Noisy on the mic, Fitz Koehler! For anyone who would like a shoutout on the show, please don't forget to send them to us. We do our best to collect shoutouts throughout the week, but please send them our way! Please send them to info@runeatdrink.net or call 941-677-2733! Thank you to Joanne Blatchley, Associate Producer of our show. Thank you to Josh Ozbirn, Executive Producer of the podcast, too! We couldn't do it without you. If you'd like more of the Run Eat Drink Podcast, including bonus content and early access to episodes, become a patron! Go to www.patreon.com/runeatdrinkpodcast to find out more. RUN This week, we recap our experience at the Black Knight DONNA Mother's Day 5K from expo to after-party celebration! We talk about the brand-new DONNA 5K route through Jacksonville's beautiful Riverside neighborhood, starting and ending at the historic Friday Musicale. In addition to a beautiful race day, we heard one of our favorite race announcers on the mic, Fitz Koehler, one half of Team Noisy! We got our hands on the medal and shirt design we talked about in Episode 207 with Amanda Napolitano a few weeks ago, too. It was such a great race, where we met so many that The DONNA Foundation has helped and supported. We would do it again and recommend it highly! Find out more about what The DONNA Foundation does at https://thedonnafoundation.org/. EAT Vale Food Co in Jacksonville was a great option after completing our race on Saturday. This is a build-your-own bowl (or choose from their menu options if you can't decide) style meal with plant-based options and meat, dairy, acai bowls, and toast creations, too! It felt like a very "brunchy" and quick option for us. While they don't have mimosas, they have flavored healthy water, cold-pressed juice shots, coffee, handmade lemonade, and more to quench your thirst. We built our bowls, and they were delicious! Vale Food Co is a great little place in Jacksonville, and they have locations throughout Florida, too! (Tip: Get the Sweet Potato Noodles. They don't taste like sweet potato, and they are excellent with anything they offer!) Find out more at www.valefoodco.com. DRINK We went to Wildcrafters Booze-Free Bar near the Five Points area of Jacksonville, and boy, are we happy we did! Live music, a relaxing vibe, and the owner and bartender were terrific to everyone during our visit. The drinks we had were fun spins on coffee drinks and non-alcoholic cocktail creations that were quite tasty! We were so happy with the experience and can't wait to go back and try more of the menu at Wildcrafters Booze-Free Bar. We got to have a great experience celebrating our race while being alcohol-free, too! Wildcrafters on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/wildcraftersjax/ Wildcrafters on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/wildcraftersjax/ THAT'S A WRAP! Thank you for listening! We are looking forward to YEAR NUMBER 5 of the podcast because of your support! Don't forget to follow us and tell us where to find you next on our website, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. And if they still come out of that with the right attitude, you're somewhat more likely to get the right person.” Ed Chan“The sort of tip there is to get context. I often say to all the firm owners I'm dealing with is you can do the tests yourself and you can do them for free.” - Jamie Johns“ I think the personality testing works a bit better for the mind or finder rather than the grinder…Speed isn't as essential in the mind or finder role. It's more about a people person communicating, knowing when to talk to a green person, compared to a blue person…So the personality test testing works better with the mind, the finder than it does for the grinder.” - Ed Chan“...for me if you find the right candidates straight away, if I can get it all done and the testing done the everything done within a day, I'd offer it to them if I were the right person.” - Ed Chan“They all say they can do the job, but you know, when they put their definition of being able to do it and your definition of being able to do it completely differently. We discuss a range of topics, and Nicole and Nadia share their story:They grew up in South jamaica queens in a housing development, living paycheck to paycheck. They never had any guidance on money, but their mother always made it work. The only time money came up in a discussion was when money was an issue, like when they were maybe facing eviction. The only time money came up was when money became an issue. They learned very early on, whatever money they did have come to them, they saved.Do well in school, change your environment, and get a better job to change your circumstances. Their mother wouldn't let them work when they were younger because she wanted them to focus on school. The way for them to help out was to do well in school. “We didn't want for nothing.” To them it means they didn't care about material things, and they had everything they needed. NY was very fashion-focused when they were growing up, and they didn't have the money to buy air jordans or acid-washed jeans. It helped them growing up as they didn't care about material things. An inadvertent gift their mother gave them was dropping the material things and only caring about the things they really needed. They don't spend money on things they believe are materialistic. Her mother made them tough cookies from the beginning. They wore business casual clothes in school and started following their own path at a young age. They decided to go to Columbia University because Columbia offered them the most money.Tip: Get a job at the financial aid office at your high school, so you're the first in line to know what scholarships and financial aid are available, and apply first!First-generation college and the process of learning how to succeed in college, because depending on where you went to high school, no one preps you for thisMom passed away suddenly in their senior year of collegeWhen they got out of school and started interviewing, it hurt them that they didn't do enough internships, but they were both able to get interviews at Goldman and got the jobs! One of the things that have followed them is that they always knew a little information but not as much as others around them, and no one specifically taught them how to do things. “So many things that we take for granted can be such a leg up for other people.”Growing up in poverty and then navigating new environments. What inspired them to leave it all behind and start the Wealth Twins. Their mother passing away early and their experiences being in NYC on September 11th were part of it. They didn't want a job to dictate what was happening in their lives.Co-workers that gave them advice to always save 10% of every dollar they make. The ATM receipt story that helped inspire their savings increase. How they became loyal to the check not the company. Nicole's defining moment when she decided to walk away from Goldman. They got new jobs that gave them respect plus responsibility. The advantages of growing up poor. As long as you're resourceful, you'll always be able to make something happen. What they learned from Corporate America - worth ethic, becoming organized, solve problems, access to people at the same job but living very different lives, working with others focused on their finances, and the concept of being a dedicated learner.Don't let anyone break your confidence and make you think you have to stay in some job - don't let their belief impact your belief in yourself. You'll be taken for granted very easily if you let it happen. What inspired them to leave their corporate jobs and start the Wealth TwinsThey always thought access to information was a big thing that could change lives.Wealth Twins want to teach people they can be financially free or independent, and it's not about how much money you make but about how much money you keep. They want to start a revolution. They want to help the people that were like them. It's not that people aren't working hard; it might be that they don't know where to turn to get information. In this MindStyling Top Tips episode, join Becky and Amy as they reflect on Miisa Mink's invitation to us all to ask, “What's keeping me small?”In line with Miisa's urging not to rush the process, Becky and Amy ponder the questions beneath the question:Do I feel small? If so, when? What are my triggers? Why am I triggered? What is holding me back from making the impact I want?We discuss: The brain science behind feeling small and the automatic stress responses of fight, flight, and freeze, as well as ‘please', a learned stress response. How a perceived threat to our status fires up the same part of the brain as a threat to our physical safety.Recognition of the danger of black and white thinking, and the value of identifying the nuances of those situations which might cause us to feel and act small. We invite listeners to get curious about what it is that helps them to stop feeling small. We talk about:The importance and impact of managing our thoughts positively - consciously connecting to our personal strengths, values and purpose. The power of perspective and decoupling the outcome of a moment from our sense of self. Our experiences of goal-setting and the value of meaningful milestones to beat overwhelm. How our feelings are often the last to change, as a result of a conscious shift to more positive, empowering thoughts and behaviours. We'd love to hear about your experiences and reflections on this important topic.
