Sasami is a singer, songwriter and producer who grew up in Los Angeles. But now she's based in Northern California, and as you'll hear in this episode, that's significant. Sasami went to school for classical French horn. She was in the band Cherry Glazerr, and she's had a lot of collaborations with other artists on their projects and her own. Collaboration is at the heart of the song that I talked to her about for this episode. It's called “In Love With A Memory,” and it features Clairo on vocals, and it was co-produced with Grammy-winning producer Rostam. The song is on Sasami's third album, Blood on the Silver Screen, which is out March 2025. Coming up, you'll hear the original voice memos that she recorded for this song back in the fall of 2022. You'll also hear the demo she made in Garageband after that, and then how she and Rostam turned that demo into the final version, a duet with Clairo. For more info, visit songexploder.net/sasami.
This is the Band Shirt Day Podcast. In this episode, Dylan Gette King and Jason P. Woodbury share band shirt stories from Oliver Ackermann of A Place to Bury Strangers who describes the torn and frayed charm of his favorite Minor Threat shirt, pilfered from his older brother. And then Jess Abbott of Tancred takes us on a guided tour of some of her favorite band shirts, including a killer Taco Bell/Limp Bizkit bootleg, a Shania Twain tee, and her favorite shirt from her wife, Jenny Owen Youngs. On one hand, a band shirt is a simple everyday item, the kind of thing you might take for granted. But when you start thinking about it, the topic encompasses so much more: band shirts help us tell stories about ourselves and what music means to us. And that's why we're here: to think a little more about band shirts and the holiday invented to celebrate them, Band Shirt Day, a global fundraising initiative uniting artists, fans, and the music industry at large on Friday, September 20th.Artists like Portugal. On this week's Talkhouse Podcast, we've got a popular comedian, podcaster, and actor in conversation with a musician-slash-director who released their first song together earlier this year: Marc Maron and Paige Stark. Maron is of course the host of the long-running interview podcast WTF, but that's really just the headline on a long and winding career. He was of course first known—and is still known!—as a top-tier stand-up comedian whose shows are often discursive explorations of his own psyche while also being wildly funny. He's also an actor, having been a regular on the Netflix series GLOW and a lead in a couple of dramatic movies, including To Leslie, which comes up in this conversation, and Sword of Trust, which was directed by Maron's girlfriend Lynn Shelton, who died unexpectedly in 2020. That fact worked its way into Maron's latest stand-up special, last year's brilliant From Bleak to Dark. Oh, and he also dabbles as a musician, having played guitar in bands in his school days, and keeping it up mostly as a hobby since. That's where singer and songwriter Paige Stark comes in. A friend of Maron's, she recruited him recently to play some "searing" guitar and duet with her on a cover of Love's 1966 song “Signed DC.” Stark has been kicking around the L.A. music scene for years, most notably as part of the band Tashaki Miyaki, whose name is the subject of discussion in this podcast. Stark only recently began releasing music under her own name, including a bunch of singles this year that feature friends like Cherry Glazerr, Jon Brion, and of course Maron. Stark is also an actor and director who's working on a narrative short at the moment. Busy busy. Check out the duet she did with Maron on “Signed DC.” This funny, wide-ranging conversation covers everything from the recording of this duet to Maron's guitar setup to Stark's substance-fueled nights out in Los Angeles. They also clearly love talking about music, dissecting everything from Nick Cave to Bob Dylan and beyond. Los Angeles singer-songwriter-guitarist Clementine Creevy sits down with Carmel Holt to talk about her fourth Cherry Glazerr album, I Don't Want You Anymore. Episode 125 Notes: Only a month late for Halloween, the HARROWING REASON is revealed! Well, not really. I got Covid and it messed up (and continues to mess up) the schedule. As a consequence, this podcast reflects our 7 year Anniversary!!!! Yay us! I am sure we will acknowledge it down the line. Anyway, we talk about Open City, Cherry Glazerr, Olivia Rodriguez, and Pumpkin Guts (the band, not the guts As a little piece of trivia, this is the first podcast in which a significant segment was cut. I read a book that I found absolutely fascinating (in the same way one might find a baby kitten getting eaten by a python “fascinating”) but was not able to do it the justice it deserved. Who knows? I may revisit it in the near future. Songs featured in Episode 125: “Carry Us” – Open City - Hands in the Honey jar “Lacy” – Olivia Rodregez - Guts “Ghosts” – Pumpkin Guts – Death, The Devil, and Dismemberment While the Cherry Glazerr album (I Don't Want You Anymore) is great, none of the songs really lend themselves to clipping, hence it is not featured. I can only hope Clem can forgive me. Find us at: www.trashsouthstreet.com trashsouthstreet@gmail.com Facebook.com/TSS Apple Music Amazon Podcasts

Will and Jeremiah talk with Couch Prints about their new album, plus new releases by Melenas and Cherry Glazerr, live reports, and bonus songs.
“I'm allergic to routine. I wake up and follow all my whims and desires. But inspiration strikes every couple of days, and when it does you don't want to be around me because I have a one track mind,” Clem Creevy of Cherry Glazerr says. That applies even when Creevy's on a date: she once rolled over in bed and starting singing a beat into her phone, much to the confusion of her bedmate. But when she's not getting inspired in bed, many of Creevy's songs start on the bass. She likes windowless rooms and prefers a messy ball point pen for her lyrics. Creevy also finds inspiration while driving, but unlike most songwriters it's not the solitude that does it. In fact, horrible LA traffic puts her in state of zen. “I love that kind of energy when I'm in a situation that seems scary and hard.”Cherry Glazerr's latest album "I Don't Want You Anymore" is out now on Secretly Canadian.

Producer & Sunset Roundtable host Drew Dempsey sits down in legendary studio 2 with Cherry Glazerr for one of the greatest interviews to date. Guitarist and singer Clementine Creevy is ‘Cherry Glazerr' and Cherry Glazerr is an American rock band from Los Angeles, formed in 2013. Clem's sound has transitioned from lo-fi and garage rock on her debut release Haxel Princess in 2014 to a more polished rock sound, with elements of grunge, punk and new wave on their subsequent releases Apocalipstick and Stuffed & Ready. Apocalipstick was produced and engineered by Joe Chiccarelli who resides here at the Sunset complex. This is just a fun goofy interview, so chill out. #cherryglazerr #indierock #sunsetsound

We had the pleasure of interviewing Moon Boots over Zoom video!Talented keyboardist, DJ, and producer Moon Boots (Peter Dougherty) has revealed his third studio album ‘Ride Away'. The ten-track LP will land on March 17th on Anjunadeep.Written and produced over a nearly two-year period beginning in early 2021, ‘Ride Away' contains themes of love, companionship, and personal exploration. Hauling in a crate's worth of musical influences, Moon Boots has imbued ‘Ride Away' with his characteristic blend of soul, disco, and house music, whilst also introducing the sounds of synthpop, breakbeats, and psychedelica. Marrying these eclectic styles is part and parcel of Moon Boots' idiosyncratic sensibility, honed through years of living and DJing in Chicago, the birthplace of house music, and in the musical melting pot of Brooklyn.‘Ride Away' follows in the footsteps of Moon Boots's debut ‘First Landing' (2017) and sophomore album ‘Bimini Road' (2019). With an impressive catalogue atypical of the dance world, Dougherty's third album represents both his tenacity and evolution as a producer and songwriter. The writing process was met with many difficult but rewarding experiences; creative bursts were balanced with instances of anxiety and self-doubt, yet Dougherty found the music writing process invigorating and cites his wife's continual support and incoming firstborn daughter as encouraging him to move forward. Of course, more time in the studio allowed Dougherty to experiment with new creative processes (and mind-altering methods) over the course of the album's formation.Featuring a swathe of colourful vocalists including the likes of Cherry Glazerr, Dope Earth Alien, and Nic Hanson, ‘Ride Away' celebrates Dougherty's longstanding affinity for collaboration, fun effervescent songwriting, and dance-focused production. Other international artists on the album include French singer Praa and Norwegian band Ora The Molecule, whilst longtime collaborators Ross Clark (St. Lucia) and Steven Klavier feature as writers and instrumentalists on the record, rounding out a global ensemble of incredible talent.Having accrued well over 100 million streams on Spotify alone, and having been championed by the likes of Annie Mac, Diplo, Danny Howard, and The Blessed Madonna, Moon Boots has established himself as a trailblazer of R&B-infused dance music. Having released on legendary French house label French Express, and remixed the likes of Dua Lipa, Robyn, and Nile Rodgers.Following the release of his new single “Ride Away” featuring Steven Klavier, Moon Boots has announced a new run of live tour dates supporting his upcoming album Ride Away. These live shows represent the first tour since his 2019 Bimini Road international tour, which was regarded as unforgettable by fans of the Brooklynite musician. Though best known as a DJ and producer, Moon Boots is also a formidably talented keyboardist. Acting as music director and bandleader, Moon Boots rearranges and recontextualizes his catalog for an explosive live experience. These shows will be can't-miss events for fans and lovers of live electronic music. The shows will feature performances from Moon Boots along with band members Ross Clark and Dustin Kaufman (St. Lucia) and a number of guest vocalists from his eclectic crew of collaborators. Ride Away is due for release via Anjunadeep on March 17th, pre-order it here.5/10/2023 - Meow Wolf Denver - Denver, CO5/12/2023 - Lincoln Hall - Chicago, IL5/13/2023 - Racket - New York, New York5/19/2023 - Great American Music Hall - San Francisco, CA5/20/2023 - The Roxy Theatre - West Hollywood, CAWe want to hear from you! Engineer, photographer, and musician Devin O'Brien has been at the center of BIG EGO from the very beginning. For the last few years Devin balanced his time playing in Cherry Glazerr with jumping into dozens of sessions; documenting both sight and sound with a unique, unified vision.
Mexican-American musician and songwriter Joel Jerome is based in Los Angeles and lends his talent to hometown artists like Cherry Glazerr and La Sera, but his own work is inspired by the likes of the Beach Boys, Fleet Foxes, and the music his parents introduced him to in his youth, like Juan Gabriel and Roberto Carlos. Quiet and compelling, you can feel the folk on “Nobody Like You.”
Joel Jerome Morales has probably finished a new song in the time it took to read this sentence. Music is just in him all the time, and as someone with his own recording studio, he gets to make whatever sounds he hears in his own head whenever he wants. There's no telling what might happen in the Psychedelic Thriftstore - the name of both Jerome's recording studio and label - which is why the South Bay native and current NELA resident is a much-loved semi-legend, both for his own work and his work with such artists as LA Witch, La Sera, and Cherry Glazerr. Though he now releases music exclusively as Joel Jerome, he's also got a 25-year discography of real bands, faux bands, self-released cassettes, instant solo albums, remakes of his own material and tributes to his favorite artists. It's possible he finished a new album in the time it took to read this paragraph.

Cherry Glazerr's rip-roaring rock and roll documents, to paraphrase band leader Clementine Creevy, “the struggles of a 17 year-old”, at the only volume that makes sense for that age - loud. Cherry Glazerr's latest album, 2017's perfectly-named Apocalipstick, is loaded with guitar-heavy jams that channel that youthful energy with a barely-contained chaos that shines through in this frenetic session in the KEXP Live Room with Cheryl Waters. Recorded 2/08/2017 - 4 songs: Told You I'd Be With The Guys, Only Kid On The Block, Trick or Treat Dance Floor, Chewing CudSupport the show: https://www.kexp.org/donateSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
