Stu Watts chats with Award-winning producer Anna Laverty, who has built an exceptional and ever-growing show reel of credits, which has solidified her reputation as one of Australia's finest creative talents. Having cut her teeth under the tutelage of award-winning producers Paul Epworth (Adele, Primal Scream, Foster The People) and Ben Hillier (Blur, U2, Elbow) at London's famed Miloco Studios, working on releases by the likes of Florence and The Machine, Bloc Party, Depeche Mode and Pete Doherty, Anna brought her talents and experience back to Australia and has become one of the go-to producers in the nation's music scene. In early 2020, Anna worked alongside legendary American songwriter, Amanda Palmer. Originally slated as a single four-hour session, the chemistry and outcomes were so strong, the two went on to record an entire album called ‘Forty-Five Degrees', which featured performances from Missy Higgins, Montaigne and Clare Bowditch. Ever busy, Anna has in recent time produced albums by Camp Cope, Stella Donnelly, Pinch Points, Screamfeeder and a live album for Courtney Barnett at the Royal Exhibition Buildings. In addition to her production talents, Anna is an adept songwriter having recently written with Kav Temperley, Stella Donnelly, Jade McInally and Dallas Woods among others. Anna generously shares her experience and expertise with budding songwriters and producers in Australia as an APRA AMCOS ambassador, at APRA ‘Songmakers' sessions, as a mentor for the ‘Girls Rock' program and has spoken at music conferences around the world including The Great Escape (UK), Bigsound (QLD), Going Global (NZ), The Melbourne Sessions (VIC), Guinness Amplify (KL) and InTune (NT). Svævende på radiobølger kommer bl.a. Talking Heads, Portishead, Pink, Keane, Stella Donnelly, Churches, Massive Attack, Jamie Woon, Lana Del Rey, Ben Folds Five, Don McLean, Imogen Heap, Fleet Foxes, The Colourfield og minsandten Schønning & Sejr.
As broadcast November 7, 2022 because we just can't seem to get enough. Tonight we open with a dig at weak and befuddled Glasgow Rangers, but that's not the focus...although they are PATHETIC and generally terrible. We focus on the 2020 Rock Hall Inductees of which Depeche Mode was one in a very strong class. After that, it's all our favorite new tunes for the first half of the show finishing with a spotlight on Stella Donnelly playing in Seoul on December 6 at Rolling Hall. Part 3 as per usual we are Poppin' Off with the big new tunes over the weekend, with highlights from Selena Gomez, Masego, and BGYO, the latter of whom dropped a new album Friday! To finish in part 4, it's some of our favorite new Korean indie, with the big highlight coming at the grand finale with JAMBINAI announcing a new EP out next year!#feelthegravityTracklist (st:rt)Part I (00:00)Depeche Mode – Just Can't Get EnoughPhoenix – After MidnightConnie Constance – KamikazeYves Tumor – God Is a CircleFirst Aid Kit – Palomino Samia – Mad At Me Part II (30:03)Caroline Rose – Love Lover Friendfanclubwallet – RoadkillThe Rare Occasions – Start This OverCavetown – Heart AttackMatt Corby – ProblemsStella Donnelly – Old ManMethyl Ethel feat Stella Donnelly - Proof Part III (59:31)Selena Gomez – My Mind & MeQ – Todayhemlock springs – girlfriendGryffin x Matt Maeson – Lose Your LoveMasego – Say You Want MeBGYO – Game OnAvril Levigne feat YUNGBLUD – I'm A Mess Part IV (90:11)ABOUT feat Hemo & HWI YOUNG – BurnQueenstown – No MatterNAMHYUK – Summer vacationMeaningful Stone – TrashLEEYOUNGWOONG feat JAEHA – DON'T WORRYJAMBINAI – from the place to be erased

You can catch them opening for Stella Donnelly at the Sanctuary in Hamtramck, MI on September 23 and Sun Room at El Club in Detroit on November 6. Today's Song of the Day is "How Was Your Day" from Stella Donnelly's album, Flood, out August 26th.Stella Donnelly will be performing at Fine Line on Wednesday, September 21st.
This week on the show we're excited to discuss yet another new Mountain Goats album, as one of our favourite and most reliable bands return with a swagger in their step with the heavy and raucous BLEED OUT!

As his fourth studio album Are You Haunted? prepares for release on February 18th, 2022, we were beyond thrilled to bring in front man Jake Webb for a full interview to discuss the record and so much more. If you're somehow out of the loop on one of the most underrated bands in Indie Rock, Methyl Ethel is the project of solo extraordinaire, Jake Webb. Being released via Future Classic on 2/18/22, Are You Haunted? serves as his fourth record that is already shaping up to be an instant classic. The singles so far, including “Proof” feat. Stella Donnelly, have been nothing short of magnificent and our interview with the artist really expounded on the big things he's been up to over the last couple of years. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/wewriteaboutmusic/support
Podcast #584 isn't quite convinced with the tracks from Palomino Blond, Pip Blom, Marissa Paternoster, Courtney Barnett, Stella Donnelly, Chime School, The Reds Pinks & Purples, & Lars Frederiksen.
The first time I heard Stella Donnelly, I knew she was a star. Then I saw her live, and the heavy weight and brutal honesty of her songs made way for comedy interludes, even cabaret. There's more to Stella Donnelly, than meets the eye. For all of these reasons, I've long wanted her to Take 5. Her music has given many a sense of community, a home, so I wanted Stella Donnelly to tell me about the songs that belong, for her. From Billy Bragg to Jenny Hval to male choirs from Wales, this is a beautiful and charming insight into her musical heart. Valentine's Day Is Over - Billy Bragg Hiraeth - Morriston Orpheus Choir Lance Jr - Courtney Barnett Spells - Jenny Hval Seabird - Alessi Brothers

Empty Streets / Tinder dates. The Blue Nile. Mrs. Vilson answers Questions skit. Stella Donnelly. Male creeps
It's been almost 20 years since we first met Clare Bowditch. Back in 2003 she grabbed our attention with her brooding debut single “Human Being”. This writer was one we wanted to hear more from, and over the years we'd hear Clare craft many more beautiful songs, star on TV in “Offspring”, and become a leader in the music community as a collaborator and mentor. Until now though, we didn't really know what came before that first song. But last year Clare Bowditch wrote her memoir, Your Own Kind of Girl, and opened up a childhood story she'd never shared before. That turbulent beginning is why I gave her the theme hurricane songs; music that upended her, turned Clare's world from black and white to technicolour, and ultimately, gave her a sense of renewal. From Donny Hathaway to Bjork to Stella Donnelly, we heard how music had been a commanding force and steady hand throughout her formative years. And how songs had given her the strength she needed when the walls were closing in. This is a beautiful conversation; as much about the healing power of music as it is the kindness we can, and should show ourselves. It's been over a year since Rachel Kelly launched Downtown Music Publishing in Australia and New Zealand. The publishing firm behind Hans Zimmer, Little Mix, Ryan Tedder has doubled its international footprint since then, and Kelly has been busy growing its local roster. In this episode, Poppy Reid chats to Rachel Kelly about DMP's local acts like The Teskey Brothers and Stella Donnelly, what it was like as a new player in the market, Australia's publishing landscape, her A&R process, and the bravest thing she's ever had to do.
Anthony reviews Nav's Bad Habits, Logic's Supermarket, Stella Donnelly's Beware of the Dogs, and American Football's third album. He also comments on Lil Nas X's "Old Town Road" being kicked off Billboard's country charts and Warner Music's recent signing of Endel, a mood music algorithm.
