Seeing the Father Through the Son: A Call to Deep Relationship with Christ This Homily centers on the theme of God's universal plan for salvation and our personal role in fulfilling it. It begins with the story of Paul and Barnabas, who, after facing rejection from Jewish leaders, turn to preach to the Gentiles, fulfilling God's inclusive mission. The message underscores that God initially chose Israel to be a light to all nations, but when they failed, He extended His call to others. This pattern repeats in our personal lives: when we fail to live out our calling due to jealousy, pride, or inaction, God will raise others to accomplish His work. The Homily also stresses the need for a personal and transformative relationship with Jesus—not just surface-level faith or religious actions. True discipleship involves knowing Christ deeply, allowing His Spirit to work through us to bring salvation to others. Listen to this Meditation Media. The spirit, which we, we call in our hearts, call God our Father. Therefore, we are united to God. We are united to Jesus in this moment. When we say to him, Lord, like Peter, where can we go? Embracing Your Season: Raising Littles and Understanding Teens with Paige Clingenpeel
*Trigger Warning* This episode contains adult themes, specifically centered around suicide. Listener discretion is advised.Today, Paige welcomes Jay Lowder. Called to full-time evangelism in 1989, Jay is the founder of Jay Lowder Harvest Ministries, an organization dedicated to reaching diverse groups of people with the message of Jesus Christ. Through his ministry, he travels the globe to football stadiums, schools, churches, and coliseums to provide a message of hope to the hurting. Jay developed the nationally acclaimed school assembly Crossroads, which has been presented to 2 million students nationwide. Jay shares his incredibly powerful testimony and challenges us that a “spiritual experience”, while potentially a catalyst for faith, isn't a deep relationship with Jesus - that requires intention, dedication, reading His word, and living out the truth that Jesus is Lord and Savior in your life, every day. Paige's TakeawaysTrust that God is with you and that He has you (and your kids). This doesn't come quickly or necessarily naturally. This takes time in His Word, in prayer, in community with those who have walked with Him longer. Model this to your kids and provide counsel and support so they can grow in their own relationship with Him. Don't pray away the Goliaths for your kids.As much as we want a smooth and happy life for them, we sometimes have to let them make their own decisions (good and bad) so they learn and build their foundation of faith and trust in Jesus. Let them see the real Christ in your life. What does your life with Jesus look like in the day-to-day? Are you modeling Christlike behaviors to your kids? Do they see you reading your Bible and praying? Are you showing your kids that Jesus is priority #1 in your life?Pray for your kids!We can rest in the knowledge that God hears our prayers and loves our children more than we can.Paige ClingenpeelQuestions About the Podcast? Secular - A young boy asked his mother why she talks to God when she prays. She replied that it's like having a conversation with the best friend she can always rely on. The boy, eager to understand, asked if God talks back. Mom chuckled and said sometimes He whispers in our hearts or nudges us to do…
Preparing His Bride | Sep 7, 2024 To deepen your relationship with the Lord, it's essential to cultivate a desire for His presence and His word. This requires an intentional heart posture: one that seeks not only to know about God but to truly know Him. Ask the Holy Spirit to quicken your heart, stirring within you a longing for God's word that surpasses even the desire for physical sustenance. As you pursue this, let the word of God carry you, transforming your daily life into one that reflects the reality of His presence. Remember that God has already given us everything we need through Jesus Christ. Every blessing, every solution, and every answer to our life's challenges is found in Him. Outside of Christ, there is nothing left to seek from God, for all has been fulfilled in Him. When we align our desires with Jesus, we allow God to intervene in our lives in ways that He cannot otherwise do. The key is to love the word of God, as loving the word is synonymous with loving Jesus. It's through the word that we provoke God's action in our lives. Without it, we deprive ourselves of His intervention. Therefore, discipline yourself to regularly hear and study the word, for it is through this devotion that you align with God's will and His provision for your life. Understand that living by faith, not by sight, is crucial. The world around you might try to deceive you through what you see, but eternal truth comes through faith in God's promises. Don't be discouraged by what seems contrary to His word. Even as you walk through challenges, God is working behind the scenes, setting the stage for His appointed time. Trust in His timing, for the fulfillment of His promises is certain. As part of this generation, you are called to live a life of signs and wonders. This is not something you strive for; it is simply the fruit of living in constant fellowship with the Holy Spirit. Angels are sent to assist you as you walk in alignment with God's purpose, and His kingdom manifests through you. You must also reject the temptations of the world and consecrate your life to Christ. By partaking in His covenant—symbolized by eating His flesh and drinking His blood—you proclaim your allegiance to the Kingdom of God and renounce the fleeting pleasures of this world. This covenant strengthens you, bringing life to your soul and healing to your body. As you walk in this reality, expect to grow from strength to strength and from glory to glory. You are more than a conqueror, no matter what challenges arise. The Holy Spirit within you raises a standard against all opposition. Therefore, walk in confidence, knowing that no sickness, darkness, or difficulty can overcome you. You have already been given victory through Jesus Christ. This reality is not just a testimony to be shared but a life to be lived. Your life, your family, and your entire being will bear witness to the goodness of God. As you seek His face, He will reveal Himself more fully to you, and your life will become a living testimony of His power and grace. So, embrace this truth and walk in it daily. You are part of a generation that will see the Kingdom of God established on earth as it is in heaven. Stay rooted in His word, aligned with His Spirit, and live as a witness to His glory. --- This summary captures the essence of the message, focusing on the reader's need to pursue a deeper relationship with God through His word, faith, and consecration, while emphasizing the reality of living as a testimony of His kingdom. Why do high performers seem to struggle with their personal relationships? Our guest today is Jason VanRuler, a licensed therapist and author of "Get Past Your Past." Jason provides eye-opening insights into why high performers often struggle with personal relationships. He explains that while high performers excel in business by applying certain success strategies, these same strategies can fail in personal relationships. Jason emphasizes the importance of vulnerability, identifying safe people, isolation vs. self-isolation, and the need for intentional and consistent relationships (and grieving the ones that no longer fit).We discuss the concept of "max awareness" in therapy, where people are more aware of their issues but often fail to take actionable steps to improve their relationships.Notable Timestamps:[00:02:42] Relationships for high performers.[00:06:40] The impact of self-isolation.[00:09:16] Seeking healing versus seeking comfort.[00:11:55] Three Levels of vulnerability.[00:15:02] Deep conversations at parties.[00:19:15] Evolving friendships in midlife.[00:28:34] Vulnerability in relationships.[00:29:17] Love shouldn't be a secret.[00:34:23] Redefining values for happiness.Jason VanRuler Links:InstagramGet Past Your Past BookWebsiteResources Mentioned:Schedule a free 1:1 Brainstorming CallInterested in starting a podcast? If you would like to hire me to be your coach, apply at sylvestermcnutt.net/applyforcoaching - 1:29 - Creating From A Place Of Abundance - 9:10 - Giving Yourself Time Off - 18:12 A Personal Update On Life When creating from scarcity, you create more scarce environments, lack, and anxiety. You are creating from a place of "I'm not worthy." Believe that there is enough for you. Enough money. Enough opportunity. Enough genuine energy. Enough healthy food. Believe that there is a simple life of luxury available to you. When you feel overwhelmed, if you choose to live in an abundance mindset, you easily permit yourself to take things off your plate so you can focus. In life, there are moments when certain things need to be sacrificed for other aspects of your life to thrive. My mindset is that I have to attract quality. I have to go at a pace that is organic for me. I create from the place that works for me because I care about my heart, soul, and everything I do to feel authentic. Are you creating your life from abundance or scarcity? Look at the energy of the two and ask yourself how you are showing up. Make a declaration that you will no longer live in a scarcity mindset. The second you choose to live in abundance, the universe around you and everyone around you will notice the difference. If you consciously choose to free your energy and to be a deliberate creator of your life, what will happen is some people will adjust. Some people will support you, help you on the same page, and support you on the journey. Some people are so deep into their wounds that they can't understand your changes. Neither is your business. Your business is to draw boundaries with people who try to disrupt your energy. Your business opens your heart and space to people who want you to live in a place of abundance. 9:10 - Giving Yourself Time Off Let go of the idea of FOMO. You are not missing out. The concept of "missing out" is taking you away from your life and from appreciating where you are in your journey. When it comes to giving yourself time off, you must understand that being refreshed is always great. Burnout is a real experience, and it gets created and justified by the idea of scarcity. This is why I preach that we must have an abundance mindset. The child version of you may have a scarcity mindset regarding money, dating, or relationships. The child has to move to the back seat, and you have to give the wheel to the adult version of you. The healthy, integrated adult version of you fully believes in abundance. The adult version of you can attract and accept abundance in all aspects of life. What you believe will be true. What you believe will be true. If you believe there is not enough, then that will be true. That will be true if you believe there is enough for you. 18:12 A Personal Update On Life My mom came to visit. It was a moment that touched my soul as it was my mom's first time coming to Arizona. I feel so full and grateful that she could come out here. If you are at all struggling with the relationship with your parents, understand that they won't always be here. People die. Do you want to continue to hold grudges? Do you want to continue having them to standards they can't reach? Get to know them for who they are. No person is perfect. We are all on this journey, learning and figuring things out. Your parents have made mistakes, and there is no doubt about it, but how long will we hold grudges against them? And what I am most concerned with is the consequence of holding these grudges.

To start off I want to just bring some encouragement to you- so hear this and claim it as I declare it!You are a beautiful woman of God, you are chosen & called. You are a fantabulous mom, wife, sister, daughter, auntie, grandma and friend. Be encouraged friend, You are right where God wants you to be. Trust Him, surrender to Him and let Him lead & guide your steps today. Let this be an anthem for you in this busy season friend! DOn't let the enemy rob you of peace during this time! That brings me to this quote I say on the googleQuote for studying- if you don't fill your mind with the word of God, the enemy will fill it with fear, anxiety, stress, worry and temptation. We have to fill our minds with God so that there is no room for any of the garbage that the world is trying to sell us. So let's get into this episode's topic! Building intimacy- other synonyms- closeness, familiarity, confidence, understanding, affection…loved all these words! The only way to not fall back into our old ways or get trapped in sin we thought we were free of is to surrender and spend time with God on the daily. If we don't put these practices into play everyday we will leave ourselves open and vulnerable to the enemy's plots. 1. Stop- stop the busy. Slow down. Take time to enjoy the things around you. But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:312. Study the word!! I cannot say this enough. And I probably sound like a broken record at times but reading the Bible is KEY to your spiritual growth. -Today I was reading(this has happened before but it's an example) the bible and I started to ask God some questions about what and why things went down the way they did. And as I started to write, a few things came to mind. It was awesome cause it wasn't til after that I realized that it was sort of a download from Holy Spirit. It wasn' really an ‘answer' per se but it was him talking to me! So boom…just another example of why ti's so important for us to get inthere and do it ourselves…so we can learn to hear from Him! -Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path- Psalm 119:1053. Sing/shout- in other words. PRAISE & WORSHIP! If you haven't heard the song Praise by brandon lake/maverick city/elevation….GO LISTEN!!! It should AMP you up. THe basic gyst is no matter the circumstance we gotta praise. Declaring the goodness of God and how can we keep that inside! Praise through our trial and temptaions and all that life thrwos at us…cause guess what HE's got it! It's a great song! All of these things take practice and implementation! A Deep Relationship Luke 4:18
A Deep Relationship Luke 4:18
Yahweh does things in deep relationships that He doesn't do anywhere else. It is a close deep relationship of "love one another". Mothers die to themselves, teach their children to die to themselves, and point to the fathers and Father Yahweh. Give enough liberty in the home, unconditional love, so children can make mistakes and learn to overcome. It's your child's walk, give them that. They run away from the Father, not you.

So often I put my trust either in myself or in the hands of the world as if it is going to get me somewhere - and it does, but it is not eternal. Cardinal Sarah points directly to the idea that we should fall into the arms of God because he is all we really need. That all things should point directly toward God and an ever deepening relationship with Him. I was recently meeting with a group of men and this is exactly what God placed on my heart to tell them! We meet every few weeks and we go through what we did or did not do in our spiritual lives but often it feels like we are going through a menu and checking boxes. In the silence of my heart during this meeting, I could feel God saying to tell these men what He really wants is a DEEP RELATIONSHIP with each one of them. He does not care about all the things we do but the quality time that we spend with Him in reflection and recollection. This is what brings about conversion in our hearts - a real and substantive change that only God can make within who we are. We continued to talk about the barometer by which we can measure this change - it can often be measured in very little ways where our response has become one of love, one of silence, one of detachment, one of God Himself. I had someone say they are working on their relationship with God. I said that is good but what is really required is just to be open - it is God that does the work with us.

Chris Hassett is a singer- song writer and recording artist (His 6th album of original songs is coming soon). Chris is also the co-author of Friendship Chronicles - Letters Between a Gay and a Straight Man.About Chris HassettChris Hassett has been delighting audiences with his unique style of singing, song-writing & story-telling for four decades. An accomplished entertainer with a rich baritone, Chris can also point to successful careers in coaching, teaching, publishing, manufacturing and communications. His passion for music, however, has remained strong throughout his life and it now drives his current creative projects. He's working on a sixth album and hopes to introduce a dozen or more original love songs to his audience in the spring of 2023. A published author, he also hopes to continue with a second book project. His original songs come from his heart, drawing upon his life experiences as a gay man. Although his original lyrics have particular appeal for open-hearted types, he has been known to win over a large audience that crosses all lines -- gender, sexual orientation, genre, age, and even political persuasions. For more information on his music, visit his website, www.chrishassett.com.Chris also has his own YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/cahassett49), an artist page on iTunes (Chris Hassett), and he maintains a strong presence on Facebook (Chris Hassett Music) & Instagram (@kitchencrooner).Brief BioChris is the third of five boys, born to Frank and Doris Hassett. As an Air Force family, the Hassetts moved from base to base every few years (and sometimes every few months) throughout his childhood, eventually settling in California. In that same Central Valley town, Merced, Chris also spent his early adult years as a high school math teacher and swim coach. Music was always a big part of family life — not so much in an organized way as in a constant, impromptu way, with dad usually getting the ball rolling. Chris was fortunate to inherit his dad's love of singing and strong voice. In spite of developing a wide-range of interests in his life, Chris knows that singing is what he does best.Chris was singing regularly in the San Diego area from the early 1980s. Whether in private or community concerts, benefit or professional gigs, Chris earned a reputation as a poised, naturally humorous and gifted entertainer with a powerful and expressive voice. In 2009, he began a recording career and now has five albums to his credit. About half of the tracks across those albums are his original compositions. In 2018, Chris — suddenly single and ready for a change of scenery — moved from San Diego to Palm Springs. Although more than half of the time in his new town has been affected by COVID restrictions, he remains optimistic that this desert town will give him the community, resources and music opportunities that he craves.Aside from music & writing, Chris is an accomplished swimmer, gardener and yoga enthusiast. He has close ties to his three surviving brothers and has maintained strong friendships with people across the decades. If you are interested in a copy of his book, Friendship Chronicles, you may contact him via email: chris@chrishassett.com ($15 plus $3 for shipping).Photo: Copyright Wilkinson/2022Podcast opening and closing music courtesy the very talented Zakhar Valaha via Pixabay.Chris' song in this podcast is "This I Promise You." Hey Hey, friends, I hope you are great! Today I wanted to jump into a conversation. We know the power of conversations, ones that lift us, the ones that fill our hearts and souls, and those that bring forth great belly laughs. Then we all have had those hard conversations of truth, conversations of disappointments, or we are waiting to have a conversation with someone that keeps putting off or avoiding. One of the most powerful conversations we can have every day is the one with God and one that creates a deep, "soulish" relationship.

. People regularly turn to individual journeys and travel to secluded locations as a way to "find themselves." This episode explores the way a deep and meaningful relationship is a great way to also explore oneself and do self-work and self-healing. If a relationship is properly approached, then we can actually improve ourselves while building a great relationship. Such work is not mutually exclusive.

If there is one thing that stands out to me about the Psalms is how honest the writers are about their thoughts and emotions. There is a depth to the relationship that is often missing in our relationship with God. As the authors interact with God, their hearts are opened and we see what is deep inside… And it's not just the good parts. For example David cries out to God

"In all of these temperaments, it's really important that you have a deep relationship with The Lord Jesus Christ. That you really understand what it is and who it is that He is. In all of our temperaments, all of it is meant, to find our peace, to find our pleasure, to find those things in Him first, and then He will help you to walk in the strengths... How to interact with the people, how to interact with inclusion, control, and affection, as we have the relationship with The Lord Jesus Christ, as we recognize the Spirit of the Living God is on the inside of us. Remember the personality is not the temperament. The temperament is the real who you are... God has it so, that you can work out all of these strengths, all of these powerful things... How leaders, and how people can take these things and utilize them to build the kingdom of God. How you can work in the kingdom of God and how you can help others. Because remember, ultimately, it's about going into all the world, releasing the kingdom of God, so that people can see that our God is strong, our God is powerful, our God is who it is, and our God is love, and it's for us to express it." It is one thing to know about God, but it is another to know Him deeply. There are many people who would like to know how to have a significant relationship with God but have settled for superficiality. They simply do not know how to grow any deeper. What is needed is Matthew 5:48-6:8, which shows us the way to a personal and powerful relationship with the living God of the universe.

WWJD Goes Deep - Relationship Training Can Fail : Episode 8 - WWJD (2020)
WWJD Goes Deep - Relationship Training Can Fail : Episode 8 - WWJD (2020) WWJD Goes Deep #8 Relationship Training Can Fail this is a series where I take concepts, questions and philosphies that I talk about on my podcast and expand on them...the concept that if you have a better relationship with your dog that it will not have bad behaviors....i delve a little bit deeper into this and why it is a dangerous and pretty much false narrative...I am not saying you should not have a relationship with your dog, of course you should, everyone doesm, but is it healthy or not healthy, and even healthy relationsips do not stop dog aggression and numerous other bad behaviors..training stops it, the knowledge of applying a correction stops it..and news alert you actually don't have to have a relationship with your dog to do that...so it is a un thought provoking cut/paste comment that when someone says, "if you had a better relationsip your dog would not do that" or "build a better relationship and your dog will not do that", that is quite false and a dangersous road to go down and leaves owners struggling and shamed. A superficial faith is not enough, we should have true, deep and vivid relationship with God. Speaker: Joyce Meyer
We all aim for our deep and romantic relationships to stand the test of time and survive happily ever after. However, we are faced with the reality that sometimes, there are cracks, which appear and some relationships eventually break down. In this episode, we speak openly about the realities of a break up, separation, or divorce. We speak about loneliness, shame that comes with breaking up in the a Afro-carrebean community, and explaining to young children why daddy and mummy now live in different houses. We are joined by JJ, Rennae, Danny, and Alex as they share their experiences and what life gems we can learn from in nurturing our relationships and also preparing and enjoying your best life even after a difficult break up.
In this week's episode of the Follower of One podcast, Mike speaks with Ryan Howard. Ryan is a recurring guest here on our podcast. Currently, Ryan is the founder of YourFaithAtWork.org, a primary republican candidate for the Iowa House District 60, podcast host, and sits on the Board of Directors for Cedar Valley United Way. A key to being successful in any job is your intent. How do you intend to do your job today? Do you have the right mindset? Are you using your skills effectively and intentionally? The same goes for integrating your faith in the marketplace. We must be intentional about how we use our faith at work. Ryan talks with Mike about how God uses our faith to disciple us and when we learn to listen to him, our eyes open to his works more and more. Whether you are taking the Marketplace Mission Trip or in between trips, how are you using your faith directly in how you act? Are you being purposeful in listening to God? Are you being steadfast in using your faith to bloom your professional career? Let us know your experience so we all can learn from it! Your Relationship with God Ryan's foundation in his work, political stance, and relationships are all rooted in his connection with God. Your fellowship with God is the most important thing in your life because it opens up positive influences into everything you say and do. How often do you talk to God? Do you seek him daily? Weekly? Hourly? We have learned here at Follower of One, that our faith is designed to go beyond Sundays. Ryan believes that our faith is not just a systematic machine but a deep relationship with God himself. If you were to reflect on your connection to God, how would you describe it? What brings you to him and pulls you away? We want to be aware of our God at all times! If Jane Goodall is the ambassador for the animal kingdom, and Vandana Shiva is the ambassador for seeds, then Diana Beresford-Kroeger is unquestionably the global ambassador speaking on behalf of the world’s trees and forests. Perhaps no one possesses the wisdom of the forest as Diana -- an Irish-Canadian researcher, botanical scientist, medical biochemist and Celtic nature mystic. She has written extensively on the molecular biology of trees, their medicinal properties, trees’ social interactions in the forest and with other life forms, forest conservation, and the traditional wisdom trees hold for healing. In the past Diana has held science posts at the Canadian Department of Agriculture and the University of Ottawa School of Medicine. She is a fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and was named a World Visionary by Utne Reader. Her research gardens outside Ottawa, open to the public, include rare plants from Turkey, Iran, China, and a hundred rare types of species from the northern forests and other countries, many that are endangered. Her most recent spell binding book is “To Speak to the Trees: My Life's Journey from Ancient Celtic Wisdom to a Healing Vision of the Forest” and the documentary “The Call of the Forest: The Forgotten Wisdom of Trees” highlights Diana’s work across many nations exploring the secrets of northern forests. More about her work can be found at CallOfTheForest.ca
Today I’m interviewing Melissa Buckley. We talk about her journey of learning that developing a deep relationship with God was the best way for her to learn to be a better mother. Surrendering Before the Miracle Melissa talks about infertility and a priesthood blessing from her dad that led her husband to declare to her, “Our God is a God of miracles.” In the blessing, Melissa was promised that her body would heal and she would have the children she desired. After the blessing, Melissa was able to move forward with faith and stop trying to control the situation. The next month Melissa took a pregnancy test and it was positive. Melissa and her husband were thrilled to be pregnant naturally with twins. She said of this time, “It was this miraculous moment where I had finally fully given over my will to Heavenly Father and that’s when He stepped in and gave me that miracle.” Navigating Depression: Anti-Depressants + the Book of Mormon Although Melissa had the long awaited children she had prayed for, she struggled with postpartum depression. In the interview she shares the shame and guilt she felt because of the depression. She discusses how getting medical help and studying her patriarchal blessing helped her start to come out of the depression. She also shares the power she felt from accepting President Nelson’s invitation in October 2018 to read the Book of Mormon by the end of the year. Melissa gives great advice on how a busy mom can fit in scripture study. She also shares the blessings she has received from reading the Book of Mormon consistently. Disciple of Jesus Christ First and Mother Second Melissa’s experiences have taught her that she should be a disciple of Jesus Christ first and a mother second. She shared, “The way for me to be the best mother for my children is to have a deep relationship with God.” Melissa also shares how her own relationship with Heavenly Father has helped her learn to be a better mother. “For me, I can have a relationship with my Heavenly Father and He can love me in a Godly way, so I can try to emulate that when I mother my children.” We discuss how motherhood is ever changing, so it makes sense that the most important thing in our life is a constant. Meekness Through Trials Melissa talks about how we are prepared to do the work God calls us to. She also discusses the things she has learned about meekness from her patriarchal blessing, reading conference talks (see links in show notes) and studying D&C 25. Melissa shares that she has learned to look back on her adversity with fondness because it has helped her to learn to be meek. Her trials have given her opportunities to be taught by the Spirit. Overall, Melissa shares her testimony that the answer to all questions and struggles is always Jesus Christ. Key Takeaways Love is a domain of learning, mastery and action. There’s nothing more attractive than someone who has confidence, is open, grateful, and in a mood of wonder. There are only 6 moves to Love’s Invisible Dance and we’re doing them all the time. In order to make an effective request you need to give the person full permission to say no without feeling rejected. Many people think their assessments are the truth in the world. Beliefs are assessments that you want to hold as facts. There are only 3 commitments that a partnership needs to make in order to have a joyful, sustaining, and passionate relationship. When we can accept the differences in each other we can transform this world.
