To keep me on track and to help you with context when we delve into big spiritual subjects like spirit guides, for example, I review the chosen subject through my SHINE model. SHINE S is for soul level information, H for our human design chart, I for our intuition, our higher self, N for NLP, neuro-linguistic programming, and language work, and E for energetics, which covers everything else in between, from chakras to electromagnetic fields. Soul-Level Information About Spirit Guide Connection So let's get into spirit guides, starting with understanding them with the S in Shine, Soul Level Information. There are many types of guides, loved ones, teacher guides, ascended masters – even star beings. But let's start with the basics, your inner circle guides, who are your personal spiritual guides, who have been with you for a large part of your life. Our inner circle spirit guides are souls currently not incarnated. We are incarnated, and in the body, so we can speak the human language. Inner circle guides have lived on Earth before, but currently don't have a body, so we need to connect with them through the language of energy. We exist in the third dimension, they exist in the fifth dimension, and we communicate by bridging the gap in between, the fourth dimension. So how do we bridge this gap through the fourth dimension to connect with our inner circle spirit guides from where we are in 3D to their location in 5D? The energy of the records is part of the energetic system of incarnation. We all have a soul blueprint, which is like our cloud or URL of the soul. When we learn about our own soul group and divine soul blueprint, we're making our first connection between 3D and 5D. Once we do that, we can begin to relate to our inner circle spirit guides because they also have a soul group and a divine soul blueprint, maybe even have incarnated with us before. Once people have begun to connect with their guides, it's possible for me to intuit how many inner circle guides you have and the best ways to connect with them. Most people have between four to six spirit guides in their inner circle. Once you've worked on your own Akashic records a little bit, you will begin to bridge that gap between the third and fifth dimension, because you are repeatedly doing so. It's like building a muscle. Then you're making connections with your inner circle spirit guides. Of course, you are in a body, and your inner circle guides aren't. But during a spirit guide reading, I can connect you with them through the energetic information relating to their divine soul blueprint and soul groups, and also share their names and other characteristics with you. It's like making an introduction to a new friend at a dinner party. I also channel pictures of them so that you can use them to reconnect with your guides later. People find the pictures very powerful. 4-6 Inner Circle Guides – The First Spirit Guide Connection As I mentioned before, most people have between four to six inner circle guides. The first guide is your guardian guide who has been with you since birth. The others join in throughout your younger life. Begin to think of them as other people, just like you, with life experiences and stories to share. Often, people recognize their inner circle guides from intuitive experiences they have had in the past or even a familiar feeling of connection. It's very validating. So how do we stay connected with our inner circle guides after we've made contact? It's a lot like other types of friendships, really. Make a habit of chatting with your guides, connecting with them, thinking about them, and sharing information. Staying Connected One reason people don't maintain successful connections with their guides is because they don't repeat the process of connection. Another is that they only think of guide connection when they're having a hard time. Imagine how a friend would feel if you did that all the time. To get firmly connected, you can also chat regularly with your guides, write to them in a journal, and even communicate through things like tarot cards. Once you start connecting regularly, you'll start getting more regular messages back, either as words in your mind, energy in your body, or sometimes signs in your environment. Before we move on to the H for Human Design in Shine, also begin to think of your inner circle guides as guides who have chosen to help you without incurring karma for themselves or for you. So they don't tell you what to do next or reveal information – which as a soul you need to learn on your journey because that would be karmic. They are here to guide. That's why they're called guides. You get to choose what to do next through your own free will. H – Your Guides and Human Design Let's move on to the H in Shine, and the concept of spirit guides through mind and body communication through our human design chart. When guides connect with you, remember they are reaching down from 5D, and you are reaching up from 3D and connecting through your mind, the mental body, emotions, how you feel, even your chakras – and the electromagnetic field that you generate in 4D that surrounds your body. Edgar Cayce, a well-known Akashic reader, used to call 4D therealmofideas. Sometimes people's guides will say to me that they are connecting to a client through a specific chakra or even a human design gate. When I explain the physical sensations, thoughts or emotional reactions that a guide impulsesor sends to a client, people can really identify with it. And realize that they've been accessing and working with their guides all along. Through Human Design, the gate is also imprinted by the energy of a planet and astrological sign. So this can also help a client understand the nature or flavor of messages they may already be getting from a guide. This can be very validating. Spirit Guide Connection and I for Intuition, or the Higher Self Now, let's consider the concept of spirit guides and intuition. To me, intuition is an aspect of our higher self, that connection we have between our own soul and our body. That's one of the primary ways that aha moments or downloads come in, often through our crown chakras at the top of the head. When it comes to spirit guides, they might be directing a download for you to unpack through your higher self, the crown chakra, which also connects to the soul star or eighth chakra above the head. Or they could be talking to you, and you hear a message in your left ear, either in your own voice, called the Third Language, or their voice, directing you through synchronicity, through a sign, symbol, or something you notice that is unusual. If you are strong in a particular clair, such as clairaudience, you'll likely hear more words, or through clairvoyance, you'll receive more visions. NLP, Language Work and your Guides Language work and NLP, or Neuro Linguistic Programming, is all about getting really clear and conscious with the language we use or the magic of spelling. When you connect with your inner circle spirit guides, you might like to try experimenting with words and synchronicity, especially if you have a guide with the divine energy center of communication, for example. If you're beginning your spirit guide journey, then of course you might stumble up against beliefs or ideas that prevent you making a clear connection with your guides. This is only natural. Often, regular fears, beliefs or blocks clients have around Guide connection relate to thinking that they can't do it or that they're doing it wrong somehow. Really, you're not that special. What I mean is we can all learn to connect with our guides, and it's extremely common to have fears and blocks around the activity of doing so. So you're not the only one if you feel that way. These can be worked through and cleared with practice. Working with affirmations is one way to help clear false beliefs you might have been programmed with around guide work, for example. Your Spirit Guides and Energetics Lastly, we come onto the E in Shine for Energetics. Since guides are pure energy, how we can connect with guides relates to this subject. When I work with clients and help them connect with their inner circle guides, I let them know how each guide in the inner circle connects with them through something called Impulsing, which simply means what type of energy is being used to connect. Some guides connect through specific chakras, others through voice, often in the left ear, or a tingle at the back of the neck, even just a sense of someone being present. With guide connection work, it's important to remind ourselves that we exist in a field of energy, and in fact, an entire field of souls. Just because we can't see our inner circle soul group, it doesn't mean that we have a lack of connection. Knowing how they impulse you can be enormously helpful, since you can also figure out which guide is working with you at what time as well. It's fascinating and empowering stuff. Foreword (Ali)This is the second edition of Astral Dancer. The dreams and astral adventures remain the same, apart from a little editing. I have only added this foreword and added a new chapter at the end discussing the implications of my experiences. After rereading this book recently, I have realised it goes deeper than I originally thought, with connections on many levels. Previously I had written a novel though it was never published, one day about 20 years ago I sat at the kitchen table and started writing what came into my head. Around the same time, I started having a lot of dreams and astral adventures, some of which are described in ‘Astral Dancer'. It was as if the novel, called ‘The Photograph', were the catalyst for an incredible adventure into self, crossing time and space. In ‘The Photograph', the protagonist, Toni, is a teenager who wants to make a difference and help troubled children in difficult situations. She also had a difficult childhood, but I won't go into details and spoil the story in case you wish to read it. Can a fictional character make a difference? At first I thought it would be by donating money from the sale of the book to a children's charity but I realise now it went a lot deeper than that. It is interesting that while writing this in a bar with a coffee, ‘Killing Me Softly' by Roberta Flack comes on the radio, I havealways loved this song and often in my mind when listening to this song I would see Toni, a synchronicity which has sent shivers up and down my spine. I digress slightly but I just had to mention it as the synchronicities have been many. Toni has made, and continues to make, a difference, but how is this possible? How can a character born from my imagination effect so deeply the lives of other children who have suffered? It is difficult to explain but I will try. ‘Astral Dancer' and ‘The Photograph' are in a sort of time loop. Originally in the latter book, in one particular chapter, I had written in a lot about the Narnia series by C.S. Lewis, then I was a little concerned with copyright laws so in the end I changed this part to include ‘Astral Dancer' to avoid any possible complications. Maybe it was always meant to have been this way but it could never have happened until both books had been completed. Toni reads ‘Astral Dancer' and it gives her the courage to face her fears. But without Toni, the book would never have happened in the first place hence the time loop, all made possible as everything is NOW, there is no past nor future. We live in an apparent linear fashion to make sense of our lives. However, all is in the NOW and is accessible to us. It is difficult to get our physical minds round this concept as we want beginnings and endings, we want everything in a linear fashion. Toni made a difference as she put things in motion. On some level, she was a part of me, helping me free myself from fears I was carrying from other selves and other lives. So without her courage, all the healing astral adventures I have had since would not have been possible, the healing of children that I have done in the astral would never have happened. Therefore, Toni is making a difference in a way that I could never have imagined in my wildest dreams. When I wrote the first words of ‘The Photograph', who would have thought where those words would have taken me. “If you will practice being fictional for a while, you will understand that fictional characters are sometimes more real than people with bodies and heartbeats.” Richard Bach, Illusions: The Adventures of a Reluctant Messiah There is another twist to all this – there was another parallel happening in the physical. I cannot tell this story as it is not mine to tell but ‘The Photograph' is also symbolic of the experiences of someone I met after finishing the book. I no longer have contact with this person but, in some way, it was all connected. You will have to trust me on this one as I cannot go into detail. It was an incredible time with so many different levels interacting with each other.A significant outcome of ‘The Photograph'/‘Astral Dancer' link is how it shows the importance of healing our inner child, our joy within. Fear stifles our joy. We can choose to heal our inner child whenever we want to though it may not be an easy journey. It is, however, a continual process, our inner child needs nurturing, it needs space. You can't simply make the connection and then let it go, it needs to be constantly nourished. Only now, having reread both books, have the implications of my adventures started to surface in my mind, how much they are interconnected. It is possible I will never fully understand, at least while I am focused in my human brain. However, maybe one day, with expanded consciousness, I will be able to see the whole picture. Introduction (Ali)About me…… I am a housewife and mother. I would describe myself as quite normal, although there are some members of my family who might disagree! I have simply trained myself to be consciously present during some of what I do while sleeping. We are all capable of the same and much more. This book is about my experiences in the Astral, it is not about technique or explanations concerning the structure of the astral planes, I'm not interested in technicalities. I go with the flow and rely on intuition, which never fails me. ‘In-tuition' comes from a higher source, a source deep within our being. What is important for me is being in the right astral place at the right astral time, from this inner space, so much is possible. I can assist both people incarnated on Earth, and those having difficulty crossing over from physical to spiritual life – “Take me where I need to be” is the phrase I often use when I find myself out-of-body. It is not possible for me to write a book about my astral adventures without a brief history of how it all started. My first conscious out-of-body experience (OBE for short) was spontaneous. This means I wasn't actually trying to do it, though I was trying to lucid dream. In an OBE, a part of you appears to exit the physical body. You are consciously aware of the situation and you may also wake up already in the astral. A lucid dream, on the other hand, is a dream in which your mind is fully awake and you know that you are dreaming. This is not a book about the technical side of OBEs so we'll leave it there. My first exit was very simple; I didn't even leave the room. I had read about OBEs so, when I found myself floating above my body, I knew exactly what was happening. The morning after this experience I was ecstatic; I wanted to shout from the rooftops, but who would have listened? Who would have taken me seriously? Some time after this first experience I went to a bookshop and found ‘Adventures Beyond the Body' by William Buhlman, I discovered that the author had an OBE forum on the Internet, so I logged in. There I found kind, understanding people who listened and gave me advice and insights into my experiences. To have OBEs and not share them is like making a birthday cake, lighting the candles and not inviting anyone else to celebrate with you. Out-of-body experiences can, occasionally, be scary if you are not aware of what's happening, sharing helps us realise that what happens is normal and we are in fact not crazy. When the William Buhlman discussion arena closed a group of us didn't want to give up what we had found so precious and, thanks to a great guy called Rick, we stayed together. Our forum was called ‘Project Radiant Light', PRL. PRL was not just concerned with OBEs, we considered ourselves a spiritual community, ready to hold out a hand to all who needed it. PRL was about spiritual support; it was about laughing and, at times, crying together, sharing and ‘having someone to talk to'. Our forum was based on respect for fellow members, in the knowledge that we are all part of the great human family. When social media exploded there were the inevitable changes as internet communication started to move away from the forum set up, however some of us remained in touch. Sometimes our world seems full of darkness, of destruction, of so much we don't want. The news bombards us with all the terrible events that happen around the world. This is only the surface, there is so much good that we don't hear about. There are many spiritual groups around the globe – good things ARE happening. Maybe it is time, as individuals, to focus more on the positive. I'm not saying ignore the suffering, instead to try to hold in our minds what is good in our lives and in the world. There are also many astral projection/out-of-body experience groups on the internet and a lot of people have started teaching it. In my opinion, care should be taken when choosing a teacher to help you, there is a lot of misinformation around concerning this subject and it is not something to be taken lightly. If a person suffers from depression or is not of a ‘stable' state of mind, I advise against it. This is because the astral is thought and feeling sensitive, this means that what you think or what you feel are reflected back at you, like attracts like. My advice is to approach astral projection and out-of-body experiences with personal growth in mind, the desire to grow spiritually. OBEs can be fun of course and there are times when you need a holiday from the physical, however, in my opinion, making the decision to follow this path is a decision not to be made flippantly. She was always ready with words of wisdom, reassurance and encouragement; she made a difference in so many lives. About the Book…. ‘Astral Dancer' is divided into two parts. The first describes my contact with a past life through dreams and out-of-body experiences, and the second, further dream scenarios and astral adventures. I use various terms that the reader may or may not be familiar with, these are defined below, some from a personal viewpoint. Astral Projection – is often used as a general term to describe these experiences though it literally means projecting in the astral plane as opposed to the etheric plane, the mental plane etc. OBE – Out-of-body experience, many people define this term in different ways. For simplicity, I have used it in the general sense to describe all experiences where there is a detachment of consciousness from the physical body. Where the consciousness is focused away from the physical body. To OBE – the expression OBE is often used as a verb. Mind Awake/Body Asleep – a condition where the physical body is asleep but the mind is awake and aware. The physical eyes are closed yet vision is possible as you are not actually seeing through them. At this point, you still feel as if you are inside the body. Neg – used to describe negative energy, used as a noun. Higher Self (HS) – An inner infinite source of wisdom. A part of us that appears separate from the physical, though it is not, we have constant access to this source of strength and wisdom, and we are often guided by our Higher Self through feelings and intuitions. Our Higher Selves appear in dreams and astral experiences as either male or female, regardless of our own gender. My Sacred Garden – When I leave my body I often find myself in my parents' garden. As a child, I spent many wonderful hours here. My parents' house and the garden represent my whole self, all of me, from here I can reach past, present and future selves. I love this place. It has come to symbolise my inner being, the lush green grass, the roses and the apple tree at the bottom, I consider it the garden of my soul. I try as much as I can to use the present tense. Our minds spend so much time wandering in the past and in the future, yet we really only know the present. The dreams and OBEs are expressed in the present (as much as they can be) because this is how they were lived and experienced, in that present, in that ‘now'. They generally have a title and/or date and are indicated by an asterisk at the beginning and end.The first part of this book is narrated by two people, myself (Ali) and another me, his name is Danny.
