Hi everyone, we have Jo Miller back with us to talk about all things Income Protection. The last time Jo joined us was in 2023 to talk about the brilliant Income Protection Taskforce and there have been a lot of changes since then. With a new Board and lots of changes in the IP world, Jo is bringing us some great insights from the IPTF profile of an IP customer report. We are going through what's working well in the IP world and what we would like to see change if we had a magic wand. I know that my magic wand wish will not be popular with many people! The key takeaways:Men are still far more likely to take out income protection than women The IPTF are wanting to promote the way that ASU products can work, where income protection is not possibleA case study of arranging income protection for a Barrister, where you must be on top of how the deferred period is going to work with their ongoing income streamNext time Lee Doran from William Russell is joining me to discuss international protection insurance. We've been planning what we will chat about and I'm very excited as I advise in this area, and we're really going to get into why underwriting international cover is not always straightforward.Remember, if you are listening to this as part of your work, you can claim a CPD certificate on our website.
Hi everyone, we are back with an insurance underwriting consideration that I cannot believe we haven't covered before: high BMI! We've talked about BMI in the past, but not done a specific episode, which is so bizarre as it's something that I think every adviser has come across at some point.High BMI affects life insurance, critical illness cover and income protection applications in different ways. Depending upon the BMI there can be ratings to the premium, the need for medicals, application declines and specialist insurers, popping up at different times. BMI tables are very outdated, however they are one of the simplest ways for insurers to get an overall sense of a person's health quickly, which can speed up insurance applications. The key takeaways:A high BMI is linked to the development of diabetes, heart attack, cancer, stroke and many long term income protection claimsBMI assessments can work brilliant if you're a white european male born in the early 1800s (aka they are very outdated and don't take into account different genders or ethnicities!)Three cases studies of arranging protection insurance for people living with a high BMI, including someone with a BMI of 83I am back next time with Jo Miller from the Income Protection Taskforce to discuss what is going on in the IP world. I'm a huge fan of IP, it's arguably the most useful protection insurance for someone working in the UK, and it can be moulded to meet your client's needs in so many ways.Remember, if you are listening to this as part of your work, you can claim a CPD certificate on our website.

What happens after you publish your book? How do you maintain the momentum to continue marketing and selling your book? Once your book is published, you don't get to relax. You still need to market your book if you want to continue to get sales and reviews, which ultimately increases sales. Post-publication, you still need to market your book In this Thinking it Through Wins and Wisdom episode of The Robyn Graham Show, Connie Jo Miller asked Robyn how to market your book post-publication. As a new author who reached Amazon best-seller status, Connie Jo Miller wants to continue building momentum for increased book sales. Strategies to market your book Humble brag - if you don't tell people about your book, and that you are an author, they won't know. When you have the opportunity, tell your friends and people you meet that you are an author. Include search engine optimization on your "author" website. Write blog posts about your book, your author experience, your creative process, etc. to include depth of SEO to help others find you. Be specific about the genre you are publishing in. Host or go to local events. This includes your local library, networking meetings, conferences, schools, etc. If you are like Connie Jo and are a children's author, do a read-along or story-time at the library or a local bookstore. Email list - send reminders to your email list about your book and your author journey. Do this especially around holidays so that people understand how great it is to give books, your book especially, as a gift. Ask people who have read your book to write a book review. This will help booksellers see that your book is well received and they will promote it for you. Donate books to the local library or schools. Children will like it and want to buy it or gift it. In addition, you can donate a book or raffle basket for a fundraiser to increase awareness. Create a lovey or stuffed animal to accompany the book. Do podcast interviews. About Connie Jo Miller Connie Jo's love of books and words started when she was ten years old with the Nancy Drew book, The Bungalow Mystery. Connie Jo loved the word bungalow: how it sounded and the picture it brought to her mind. Bungalow was the first word on her “Words I Love” list. Many, many have followed. If Connie Jo reads or hears an usual new word, she has to stop, look it up, and write it down. British murder mystery shows have added many words to her list. Her desire to share uncommon words and inspire their use in day-to-day conversations catalyzed Betty Bartholomew and the Vanishing Begonias. A sweeping review of local government has been announced. Local Government Minister Nanaia Mahuta says it will look at what local government does, how, and how it pays for it. Already the government is planning to remove councils of their core responsibilities through the three water and resource management reforms. I’m so happy that there were a few responses and I asked everyone at a weird time, JUST on the cusp of the lockdown so at that point it was very much up in the air as to what we were all doing or supposed to be doing. GREETINGS FROM MARGATE!Welcome to episode 5 of Buddy’s Buddies! Thanks for joining me again - truly lovely to see you. Merry Friday to you all!Ladies and gentlemen, it’s a pleasure to introduce a glorious chat with the multi-talented soundwave wrangler and good vibes initiator JO MILLER of SOLASTA SOUNDS! I’ve been a firm fan ever since my first sound bath a good couple of years ago, when I didn’t even know what I was getting into by attending a sound bath - to say I was extremely pleasantly surprised is a powerful understatement… I’ve been involved in sound activities for a few decades now and this was definitely among my favourite. But that’s not where Jo’s expertise start and finish by any means!I’d been wanting to talk to Jo for ages, especially as she’s so heavily involved in sounds and the more restorative aspects of it. I’m intimately familiar with bobbing my head and altering my pace as a pedestrian when listening to various types of music (or indeed slowing down to halt on the more ambient stuff), but I don’t think I’d ever really stopped to think about what was happening from the neo-cortex to the limbic system to the brain stem and onward… Well, we proper got into it here and it was totally fascinating - so much so that I must have dropped several questions in the smash-grab of my mind when I was reaching quickly for what to ask next…! There’s so much involved, and Jo breaks down everything from origins, her history with sound, vibrations and the actual physical effects of sound and how we can incorporate it in a mindful sense, using our bodies to navigate trauma, animals and how they handle trauma, and - ahh, just too much to mention here. You’ll get a real charge off this one, no doubt about it. So much goodness from an awesome sound-loving and living individual. Get to know Jo Miller and acquaint yourselves with what she does! Why do so many British sitcoms and novels centre around women who are obsessed with status? Jenni talks to television critic Julia Raeside and journalist and critic Alex Clark.Jenni speaks to Jo Miller as she steps down from one of the most high-profile local government jobs in the UK. How did she achieve this and why is she leaving?A report by Lancaster University and Fatherhood Institute earlier this year states that the number of men working in early years childcare is just 2%, a figure which has not changed for decades. What can be done to attract more men into the career? And, for those working in the sector already, what is the reaction from parents to having a man working with young children?Nearly 2,000 domestic abuse survivors iare being put at risk of homelessness because local authority rules state they aren't vulnerable enough, according to a new report published by the All Party Parliamentary Group for Ending Homelessness. Jo and I get into every day operations at TDS as well as what it was like to work on Earth: The Book while we were doing the show at the same time. (Spoiler Alert: it was a lot of work.) Jo also talks about how her education in Medieval History actually comes in handy in her career as a comedy writer. Who knew!? Hope you enjoy this one, BlocHeads. Thanks for tuning in.
Tune in as we kick-off our Fall Season and get back into the swing of things. Our guest will be Jo Miller the CEO of Women's Leadership Coaching. Jo will share advice on how to manage your career and advance into a leadership role.
