Julie Matthews is a Certified Nutrition Consultant that holds a masters degree in medical nutrition. She is a globally respected nutrition expert, published researcher, award-winning author, and inspirational educator. Her guidance is backed by over twenty years of clinical experience and scientific research with complex neurological and physiological needs; particularly autism. She has lectured in more than 60 cities across three continents, been on television, radio, newspaper, blogs/podcasts and more, and published scientifically referenced articles in journals and websites. Julie's been featured by Price-Pottenger, honored by the National Association of Nutrition Professionals, sits on two scientific advisory boards including the Autism Nutrition Research Center. Julie is co-author of “gold standard” scientific research published in the journal Nutrients, demonstrating the efficacy of diet and nutrition intervention for autism spectrum disorder and a study on “The Effectiveness of 13 Therapeutic Diets for Autism” published in the Journal of Personalized Medicine. Julie is a dynamic speaker that's educated professionals at trainings for Integrative Medicine for Mental Health, Autism Research Institute/DAN!, Medical Academy of Pediatric Special Needs, and the MINDD International Forum in Australia. During her early nutrition studies in 2001, Julie discovered that food and nutrition influenced the disorder of autism. She committed to investigate the connections and to explain them to parents and clinicians that can make a difference helping children recover. Her final research paper at Bauman College became the basis for her award-winning book Nourishing Hope for Autism, which won the gold metal in 2009 for “Most Progressive Health Book.” It explains WHY food and nutrition affects the varied systems and biochemical pathways routinely occurring in autism and HOW to strategically apply a specialized diet to help children heal. After many years in practice, it became evident to Julie that the dietary approaches that helped the most difficult clients, were useful in healing most chronic conditions. And because autism is one of the most complex disorders (with underlying immune/autoimmune, digestive, neurological, and metabolic dysfunction issues), it provides a unique perspective on chronic disease that helps Julie teach others to see hidden connections between symptoms, circumstances, and effective healing dietary strategies for a wide variety of complex conditions. She founded Nourishing Hope in 2005 to stand for the efficacy of improved diet and nutrition for autism, and the BioIndividual Nutrition Institute in 2014 to share the synthesis of her knowledge with cutting edge clinicians to help improve their effectiveness with therapeutic diets. Julie has concurrently been focused on Nutrition for Healthy Pregnancy and Baby, putting all of her research, knowledge, and experience into teaching prevention/promoting health. She's created a program and website at NutritionForPregnancy.com. After twenty total years of dedication, Julie's global Nourishing Hope Community comprises families in over 146 nations, and BioIndividual Nutrition Practitioners in 48 nations.

She's been mailing the Getting Listings program in a very specific area, and she's going all-in to get listings in a particular townhouse community. We had a great conversation about the strategy behind that. She's following a program we developed with Julie Matthews here in Winter Haven, mailing a multiple-week sequence at the peak listing time when people are listing their homes. Julie went from a 0% market share in a particular area to generating five of the next 24 listings that came on the market. A 20% market share. We had a great conversation about this will play out and then talked about some strategies Justina can use to generate business now while waiting for the Getting Listing program to kick in. She's making all the right moves, and has the disciplined execution to make it all happen. Links: Show Notes GoGoAgent.com Be a Guest Listing Agent Lifestyle Book Listing Agent Scorecard

What role does food play in overall autism recovery? You may have heard of the staple gluten free/casein free diet (GF/CF), but there’s much more to it than that. Food and nutrition matter greatly for those with autism and in overall autism recovery.   The definition of recovery is to regain health! Food is medicine that helps us regain and keep our health.   Please listen to my radio show interview (show #36), with Julie Matthews, author of Nourishing Hope for Autism Recovery. In show #36 we answer the questions:   1) Why does food matter for autism?  2) How does a parent get started with this approach of following a special diet? 3) What factors most influence one’s effectiveness and success, (i.e roadblocks to avoid and tips for success)? 4) What are some reasons behind picky eating, and some approached to help break through?   Note: show #36 will be in the show archives about 48 hours after the show airs live, (aired live April 9th). For those already doing something with diet/nutrition:   1) How do you know when it’s time to further refine/change one’s diet approach, (beyond the “starter” GFCF or GAPS)? 2) What other food factors does one need to know about and consider? Let’s talk about Salicylates, Oxalates, Phenols and other things we’ve been hearing about with these diets.      Julie Matthews BIO:   Julie Matthews is a Certified Nutrition Consultant and published nutrition researcher specializing in complex neurological conditions, particularly autism spectrum disorders. Gluten and dairy are two of the most difficult inflammatory foods for the digestive system   Soy-Free Diet & Why Any Diet Must Be “Healthy” Soy, is similar to gluten and casein in that it can be difficult to break down and cause inflammation Why a “healthy” diet is important There are countless food products that are labeled and technically free of dairy, gluten, and soy but this does not constitute them as being healthy Many foods contain artificial dyes and flavors which can cause hyperactivity in any child The more organic, the better Avoiding GMOs and pesticides (known neurotoxins) Any time the diet can be healthier, you are going to find a happier and healthier result!   Low-Oxalate, Paleo, & GAPS Diets Low- Oxalate Diets (LOD) Reduced consumption of high oxalate foods such as certain greens (ex:spinach), beans, legumes, nuts and nut flours (ex: almond flour) Can help reduce inflammatory symptoms Paleo Diet Grain-free diet which cuts beans, refined sugars, and dairy Gut and Psychology Syndrome (GAPS) Diet  Grain-free diet which cuts refined carbs, dairy, starchy vegetables and mucilaginous fibers For more information on ‘Why Diet Matters' click here.   What Is The Right Diet For My Kid? My guest this week is Tara Hunkin, Nutritional Therapy Practitioner, Certified GAPS Practitioner, Restorative Wellness Practitioner, mother and founder of My Child Will Thrive and host of the ‘Autism, ADHD and SPD Summit'. Tara is passionate about helping parents because she has been in their shoes. After doctor visits left her with more questions than answers, Tara realized that it was up to her to figure out how to get her daughter the help she needed.  She went on to pursue an education in nutrition with the Nutritional Therapy Association and trained with Natasha Campbell-McBride, MD as a Certified GAPS Practitioner. She is also a student of Julie Matthews, CN with the Bioindividual Nutrition Institute and has completed the Medical Academy of Pediatric Special Needs training, as well as, training with Dr. Mellio through IAFNR to better understand the brain and the applications of functional neurology. In this episode, Tara and I discuss the fundamental foundations for success when parents are setting out on an integrative approach for the treatment of their child's neurodevelopmental disorder. Children diagnosed or suspected with disorders such as autism, ADD, ADHD, dyslexia, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and other learning disabilities can greatly benefit from a guided framework of the integrative approach. To learn more about Tara and access an entire community of support click here.   Episode Highlights The Internet & Information Overload The internet provides us with so much information it can be extremely overwhelming for parents searching for ways to help their struggling children As a parent you need to learn many different avenues but using a framework to approach them all will save you time, money, and a lot of excess stress   Framework and Tools  By beginning an integrative approach with a framework set in place, parents are able to organize and confront treatment with more ease Remember: “There is no clear one solution for every child.” - Tara Hunkin   Fundamental Foundations of Healing  It is easy to forget or disregard fundamental practices before going straight into advanced healing strategies and therapies - the two must go hand and hand to prevent as many setbacks as possible Nutrition is key Keeping the body well-nourished literally feeds every cell in our body and brain Maintain optimal hydration with good quality water sources Ensure that your child is getting enough outdoor time in the fresh air and sunlight igniting their five senses   Address your environment, such as the possible toxins in and around your home Finding and implementing appropriate neuro-rehab programs Neuro rehab examples: listening, vision, occupational, and neurofeedback therapies   Multiple Protocols & Record-Keeping You are your child's best advocate and record-keeper Having records to refer to for yourself and your practitioner will save you time, money, and grief To help Tara has created a ‘Protocol and Therapy Worksheet' It sets out objectives to help track practice, advice from your practitioner and expectations These kinds of record-keeping are essential to approaching an integrative model of treatment The more thorough the history recorded the better you and your practitioner can prepare for and execute treatment plans   Working With The Right Practitioner Make sure the practitioner is able to explain to you the aim and goals of the treatment at hand You shouldn't walk out of their office more confused than when you went in When you understand the possibilities and outcomes you are more equipped to push through When you have older children who are able to comprehend the goals and outcomes - they will feel more empowered to make the right decisions if they understand why of the situation   Where to learn more about Tara Hunkin... Listing Agent Lifestyle - Real Estate Marketing

Today on the Listing Agent Lifestyle podcast we're talking with Justina Courtney, from Burlington in Canada, just outside of Toronto. Justina is a newer real estate agent, coming up on a year. She's been with us at GoGoAgent since January, and has been mailing the Getting Listings program in very specific areas. She's really going all in on trying to get listings in a particular townhouse area, so we talked a little bit about the strategy behind that. She’s following a program we developed with Julie Matthews here in Winter Haven, mailing a multiple week sequence, at the peak listing time of the market, where people are mostly listing their homes. Julie went from a 0% market share in a particular area to having generated five of the next 24 listings that came on the market. A 20% market share. Both Justina and Ron Reed are duplicating that process and we're watching it all unfold in our GoGoAgent forum right now. So, today we talked a little about that, and then we talked about some strategies for Justina to generate business now, while waiting for the Getting Listing program to kick in. I think you're really going to enjoy this. Justina's going to be a great story. She's doing all the right moves, and she's got the disciplined execution to make it all happen.   Links: Show Notes GoGoAgent.com Be a Guest Listing Agent Lifestyle Book

Things cannot improve until you know that they can!. Improving what you feed your child is very powerful, any family can begin right away.
