Dr. Bjorn Lomborg is a Danish political scientist, internationally recognized author, and the president of the Copenhagen Consensus Center—a think tank that researches the smartest solutions to global challenges by applying cost-benefit analysis. He is best known for his work on environmental and development issues, where he encourages evidence-based, economically sound approaches to solving pressing global problems.Dr. Lomborg first rose to global prominence with his book 'The Skeptical Environmentalist', in which he challenged prevailing narratives about the state of the environment using rigorous data analysis. He has continued that mission through subsequent bestsellers such as Cool It, False Alarm and Best Things First, where he critiques climate alarmism while advocating for effective, scalable policies that actually help the planet and people—especially the world's poorest.Lomborg has been featured as one of TIME magazine's 100 most influential people. His work bridges the gap between environmental concern and practical policymaking, pushing for investments in areas like clean energy innovation, global health, and education, where the returns are highest.Lomborg's arguments are grounded in data and aimed at fostering constructive debate about how to create the most good with limited resources.

Swapping cheap and dependable fossil fuels for unreliable and expensive renewables costs our economies trillions, but for little environmental gain, Lomborg says. On the GZERO World Podcast, Ian Bremmer sits down with Danish author Bjorn Lomborg, a controversial figure in the world of climate change. Lomborg is unequivocal that climate change is a real problem and that humans are responsible for causing it. But where he differs from the global climate narrative is that the current focus on reducing carbon emissions is misguided and ineffective. Lomborg argues the world is too fixated on stopping climate change at the expense of… everything else.   He worries billions are being spent on incremental climate mitigation when that money could be spent more effectively on things like education or maternal mortality. Bremmer challenges Lomborg on a range of issues, from the exponential advancements in renewable technology to the disproportional impact of climate disasters in poor countries. While the two don't agree on everything, their conversation affirms that climate change is a complex issue that requires nuanced thinking and effective solutions to avoid worst-case scenarios for future generations.

We have a packed episode for you today. First, we begin by looking at Bjorn Lomborg's fascinating Wall Street Journal Op-Ed titled: “Climate Change Hasn't Set the World on Fire”. You've seen all the hysterical headlines touting how the future of humanity is doomed and apparently how the whole world is on fire. We discuss Lomborg's very intelligent and rational examination and refutation of all this madness and crazy hysterical, apocalyptic headlines. Then, we look at the possible motivation behind the media coverage of the murder of two gay men.  Furthermore, you would think that the pure disaster that happened with Bud Light would have taught CEOs all over the world, you know, not to push trans-madness, but Doc Martens has decided otherwise and we're here to discuss all that and more. Last but not least, Trump has been indicted again and we welcome Greg Price, former daily caller journalist and current director for the State Freedom Caucus Cetwork, to bring you the truth behind this most recent indictment. The Left doesn't care about due process anymore. They're just throwing anything at the wall with the hope that it'll stick. This is an episode you won't want to miss.  --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/ap-scoop/message

World leaders have promised everything to everyone. But they are failing. The UN's Sustainable Development Goals are supposed to be delivered by 2030. The goals literally promise everything, like eradicating poverty, hunger and disease; stopping war and climate change, ending corruption, fixing education along with countless other promises. This year, the world is at halftime for its promises, but nowhere near halfway. Together with more than a hundred of the world's top economists, Bjorn Lomborg has worked for years to identify the world's best solutions. Based on 12 new, peer-reviewed papers, forthcoming in Cambridge University Press' Journal of Benefit-Cost Analysis, this book highlights the world's best policies. Some things are difficult to fix, cost a lot, and help little. Other problems we know how to fix, at low cost, with remarkable outcomes. We should do the smart things first. Governments and philanthropists should focus on these 12 smartest things. Fix tuberculosis, malaria, and chronic disease, tackle malnutrition, improve education, increase trade, implement e-procurement, and secure land tenure. This will improve the world amazingly. The cost is $35 billion a year. The benefits include saving 4.2 million lives each year and generating $1.1 trillion more for the world's poor. We can definitely afford it: The cost of $35 billion is equivalent to the increase in annual global spending on cosmetics over the last two years. This is likely the best thing the world can do this decade.
