Today, Tes speaks with Jeanette Brown. Jeanette has brought effective public relations, branding, marketing and positive crisis resolution solutions to clients across a variety of industries. When thousands of loyal Maker's Mark Bourbon drinkers revolted online after Maker's Mark announced they were lowering the alcohol content in the iconic product, Jeanette was a key member of the team Beam Suntory, the parent company, hired to restore customer confidence in their brand. Swift action with the brand owners, communication in social media and consumer influencers brought what would be called a faux pas comparable to Coca Cola's 1980s misstep to a footnote in bourbon history. Within a week Maker's Mark fans' confidence was restored as they happily awaited the return of the original proof bourbon they had grown to love. In 2016, she managed the "dieselgate" Volkswagen and Audi emissions scandal. By quickly digging in and understanding the problem facing the automaker, confidence in the restoration process was restored as lawsuits became the headlines. The following year, she managed communications for PepsiCo while they pulled an ad featuring Kendall Jenner that was racially insensitive and borrowed heavily from Black Lives Matter. In 2020, Jeanette led the team in managing New Orleans based Tales of Cocktails Foundation, through a robust PR and Risk Management program to announce its first-ever virtual seminar. EPC secured a renowned anti-bias keynote speaker, drafted speeches for the organization's leaders and procured its first-ever multicultural media partners and diversity events. Jeanette graduated from The City College of New York with a B.A. in Communications. In addition to working on several corporate crisis and diversity programs, she earned a DEI certificate from the Institute for Teaching Diversity and Social Justice. Jeanette is a Brooklyn, New York native whose family tree branches reach the Caribbean, including Trinidad and Jamaica. Her appreciation for community, family, and culture developed while growing up in Bushwick's multi-ethnic neighborhood. The sounds of Latin music filled every bodega, the aroma of exotic dishes infiltrated the air, and everyone was treated like family at celebrations. Today, Jeanette lives with her sons Dylan and Derek in Atlanta, Georgia. When she is not enjoying episodes of the Power Rangers or tracking the latest OG 1s drop, she studies plants and healthy lifestyle practices to remain grounded as a mom, business owner, and self-proclaimed sneaker connoisseur.  Since 1999, Jeanette has brought effective public relations, branding, marketing and positive crisis resolution solutions to clients across a variety of industries. Within a week, Maker's Mark fans' confidence was restored as they happily awaited the return of the original proof bourbon they had grown to love. In 2016, she managed the “dieselgate” emissions scandal involving Volkswagen and Audi. By quickly digging in and understanding the problem facing the automaker, confidence in the restoration process was restored as lawsuits became the headlines. The following year she managed communications for PepsiCo while they pulled an ad featuring Kendall Jenner that was considered racially insensitive and borrowed heavily from Black Lives Matter. In 2017, Jeanette founded Excellence & Presence Communications to pursue her passion for inspiring collaboration between clients and her networks to deliver best-in-class campaigns through culturally relevant stories that inspire interactions with lifestyle brands, nonprofits and corporations.Learn more about Jeanette and her company at:https://excellencepresence.com/

So I've been on Zoom Thursday night at 7pm answering some great Bible questions. Easter was just a month ago and one question came out of the Easter narratives. The Gospels tell us Jesus died and was buried and then rose again. But what happened between Jesus' crucifixion and resurrection? Where was he?The Apostles' Creed says "He descended into hell." Did he really? Some theological traditions say he did. Bartender Journey - Cocktails. Spirits. Bartending Culture. Libations for your Ears.

This week, we continue our Tales of the Cocktail 2017 coverage. This is the 5th of 9 planned episodes about Tales 2017.   We will talk with Jane Bowie from Maker’s Mark. During Tales this year, I was invited to a Maker’s Mark event at Dicky Brennen’s Bourbon House. The Bourbon House had purchased a full barrel of Maker’s 46.  Quoting from the invitation I received to the event, The Bourbon House is “the first in Louisiana to have created its very own Maker’s Mark® Private Select™. This is a first-of-its-kind barrel program that allows retail customers to customize their own personal Maker’s Mark by finishing fully-matured cask strength Maker’s Mark Bourbon in a single barrel made up of their custom selection of ten total oak staves, resulting in over 1,000 possible selections”. Take a listen to Podcast No. 223 with the audio player on this page, or on Apple Podcasts/ Google Play Music/ Stitcher Radio for a slice of the Tales experience!   Patron is sponsoring an educational event.  It’s in Cleveland on September 12, 2017 at the Cleveland Marriott Downtown at Key Center.  It’s a full day of education with Breakfast, Lunch and Happy Hour included and there is no cost to you! RSVP here.   BarSmarts Advanced will be conducting daylong sessions, providing education and hands on mixology instruction, plus testing and certification. Its taught by Dale DeGroff, David Wondrich, Paul Pacult, Steve Olson, Doug Frost and Andy Seymour.  At the end of the day you do a practical exam where you prepare three drinks for one of these gentlemen, so you might be making drinks for Dale DeGroff or in my case David Wondrich.  To qualify you have to do the online course first.
