George provides actionable strategies to filter one's network, stop seeking external validation, and eliminate activities that don't align with personal goals. Emphasizing the concept of 'belief transference,' he stresses the benefits of being around positive, successful individuals to foster personal and professional growth. Happy New Year, friends! Our first episode of 2025 spotlights Courtney Brame, who is doing a ton of work around men's mental health and erasing STI stigma. He's the founder of SPFPP (Something Positive for Positive People), which supports people who are living with herpes. He also founded SELFED, which promotes emotional wellness for men and recently hosted a symposium for Black men's emotional wellness, which is how he and I came into contact. Our conversation sits at the intersection of race, sexuality and wellness. We discuss Courtney's journey to becoming an educator, we ponder whether safety might be an issue with regards to the lack of straight Black men in wellness spaces, we talk about yoga therapy and changing the face of what yoga is to make it accessible to others, and we talk about cancel culture and how that can kill curiosity. Hope you enjoy this conversation!

You're going to notice something a little different today! This episode is extra special because I'm sharing an interview I had with K-LOVE, a nationally recognized Christian radio station. I was honored to be featured in their “Positive People” segment, which aired locally in Pittsburgh, PA. In this conversation, we dive into the theme of walking through pain—what it means to face it, hold it, and ultimately grow through it. I share parts of my journey, my work as a Christian Mental Health Coach, and how I help women untangle the thoughts that hold them back. We also discuss how our beliefs about God shape how we experience life, why it's essential to reconcile pain with faith and the power of addressing root issues without dwelling in the past. Laura's mom is hilarious. We ask her about the gross dishes she used to serve up for the holidays when Laura was little. The laughs are off the charts. She's so embarrassed explaining the ingredients of these horrid creations that she almost pees her pants laughing. This will make you laugh for sure. Laura puts the boys to the test with some brain teasers and a trivia contest, which Bryan is sure he'll conquer. Does he? See you next week with two special guests and our "thankful" episode. Soft Cock Appreciation Week 2024 asks, “Why is talking openly and honestly about changes in erectile function still so taboo among men?” This question has been at the forefront of Erica Leroye's quest to demystify the erectile epidemic and treat men's sexual health as openly as any other health matter. In this conversation Erica speaks with Courtney Brame, founder of both Something Positive for Positive People- a vital resource for STI stigma re-education, and Selfed a mental and emotional health nonprofit for Black men, as well as a yoga instructor and yoga therapist in training. Courtney shares ideas from his years of his personal and professional experience helping people learn how to accept their bodies as they are and feel more free in communicating openly and authentically with partners. Join them as they explore: How it often takes a crisis to begin the shift from societal expectations of “what it means to be a man” to the personal explorations that create one's own truth. Redirecting thoughts of “I am alone in this and no one will ever want me again” to accepting what is in a way that encourages self-care and discoveries of new possibilities. Surprised? But this is true. Positive people fail in life and I know this is contrary to the popular belief that optimistic people succeed in life. This happens due to Survivorship bias. It is a cognitive shortcut that occurs when a successful subgroup is mistaken as the entire group, due to the invisibility of the failure subgroup. If you don't understand the above definition listen to this podcast.
JKS 55 The Misdiagnosis Drama of 2022Buried in the backyard. recorded over 2 years ago, 2 weeks before our trip to PCAP Palm Springs. If you hate cringy, raw, emotional podcasts, definitely skip this one.I don't cry in this one but there is a lot of processing. We didn't feel good about releasing earlier because we felt it too cringy for most listeners but,we were reminded of the importance of why we do what we do.Part 1We decided to get a second STI test done after not being able to get answers after a Dr appointment and were waiting to discuss results the following week. Then Dr wasn't able to see us IRL until a whole week after our phone diagnosis.Part 2Monday after the dr office test, we were told the diagnosis before our second test results by STDcheck.com came in and took steps to confirm diagnosis. Part 3While waiting to see the DR IRL friday, and after calling all our LS friends, the results from STDCheck came in NEGATIVE! When we saw the DR. she said the test she ran was misinterpreted & the sores she had were probably caused by something else but she didn't know what for sure.It turns out you had foliculitis and Myrsa most likely from a waxing appointmnt. We learned a lot from that experience. What new drama awaits as we prepare for another Swingcation? Stay tuned for the next episode. "Same Bat time. This week, I sit down with Yogi, Podcast Host and Founder of Something Positive for Positive People, Courtney Brame. As a wellness coach, Courtney focuses a great deal with mens mental health as well as addressing the stigma of those who suffer from Herpes. We talk about understanding how men think of conflict to "fix it", when they also need to address the language of an issue. Also, how you can be supportive of your partner when he shares his feelings and what you can do when you feel that therapy would serve you both. In today's episode, we talk about a pivotal shift to create a positive future. Pushing yourself to think in ways that might not be regular to you. The mindset of a person who consistently nurtures a positive outlook is fundamentally different from others. It's not just about being optimistic; it's about setting your mind to a frequency that consistently seeks out the silver lining, that resonates with the highest energy possible in any given situation. Consider the power of your words and thoughts; they are not just expressions but manifestations of the frequency you inhabit. Saying "I am love, I live in love and light" positions you in a high-frequency state, whereas thoughts of being a burden drag you down. The unity between what you profess about yourself and your actions strengthens your belief in your words, thereby sculpting your reality to match your highest aspirations. This is not just a call to positive thinking but an invitation to tangible action toward becoming the best version of yourself. It's about aligning your daily actions with the grand vision you have for your life, ensuring that every step you take is a step towards your personal peak. It's a reminder that your journey is unique, and comparing it to others' paths only detracts from your own progress. - Henry -------------------------------- Social Media Say hi on TikTok Say Hi on Instagram -------------------------------- Email Me henry@vibeabundant.com -------------------------------- Email List --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/positive-mindset-podcast/support

Thursday May 23, 20224 is the first ever Something Positive for Positive People virtual conference on herpes stigma. The theme is "Sexual Health is Mental Health", and we will analyze the HSV Stigma survey data we've collected from October 2023 at this conference. We invite anyone in the field of sexual health to attend and learn about our STI Minimization program where we train organizations on stigma-free communication with patients. Using the experiences of people navigating herpes stigma, we've been able to address stigma in health care settings, in the field of mental health, and of course in dating. This podcast is a brief verbal expression of the conference without me actually delivering the content of the conference. Visit www.spfpp.org/conferences for more information and to register. I look forward to seeing you there.

This episode is a glimpse at my 1-1 conversations I have. Moving forward, for the sake of this community, the growth of the Something Positive for Positive People non profit organization and podcast, I'm answering herpes stigma and advice related questions AFTER a donation has been received. I will point you in the direction of my available resources including the website www.spfpp.org, the spfpp podcast, and social media pages (mainly Instagram @CourtneyBrame_). If donating does not work for you, then I ask that we make this content shareable via a podcast episode interview. You can view this as an out loud “coaching/support/discovery/venting” session. I am really pushing for people in our community to get involved ya'll. Too often I find myself getting ghosted by people who offer to be guests, or swore they'd donate or wanted to get involved, only to just disappear on me. Our guest, Taylor, (almost 30 who's had herpes since the age of 15) is my first guest who moved forward with this. I still don't think I answered her question, but she definitely left with some more things to consider, while also leaving her own imprint on the SPFPP space/podcast community. Here's what you can expect as one of these guests if you choose to not donate, and that's fine. There is plenty of material on www.spfpp.org for you to find what you're looking for. But if you want direct access, engagement or a shortcut to the answer, please be ready to support this community.
Episode 289 of Something Positive for Positive People is the trigger warning I shouldn't have to make. If any of what I say comes as a surprise to you, I don't think you really get the gist of what my work is about. Herpes is what led us here, but getting through it is going to require some self-evaluation of identity. The psychology of the self-image is what I challenge people on. Everyone should be triggered by this podcast's existence until you get to a point of challenging what that trigger is. I believe that same intense energy that comes from our fight or flight response is the same energy that can be utilized to trace the trigger to the source of it which is the trauma. I done worked too damn hard on myself to get to this place of being able to just exist for someone to tell me something I say MIGHT be triggering to someone. Especially when this podcast is about health, and I ALWAYS speak about health, I'm supposed to shut down sharing my experience because someone might what? Be challenged and take different action? I'm willing to take the gamble that someone views me differently or chooses to pursue support from another resource. But in all honesty with the way people come and go (as they should) I don't think I'll be listening to anyone who isn't doing one of those four letter F words I mention in this podcast to me. That all aside, SPFPP is no longer paying for people to get therapy. All donations go toward the ongoing functioning of the organization to integrate the communication skills of people with lived experience navigating STI diagnoses into STD Prevention efforts. Visit www.spfpp.org for more information.
