Join us today on a lovely episode of Hail to the Keith where Keithie talks about the events of February 14th, 1929. That's right, you see, the gangland murders of The North Side Gang, you hear and just what did Al Capone or Bugs Maron have to do with it. We take a look at the incident, the investigation and what happens to the bosses of the two crime families involved, plus some of the hits from 1929 thrown in. Give your sweetheart a little Tommy Gun love and play it for again, kiddo.
Americans are celebrating Valentine's Day. So, let's remember – the St. Valentine's Day Massacre. Here's President Bill Clinton, speaking on February 15th, 1994 – the day after Valentine's Day, to the law enforcement community in London Ohio … In the last three decades, violent crimes have increased by 300 percent. Over the last three years, almost a third of Americans have either had themselves or someone in their families victimized by crime. Yesterday was the 65th anniversary of the Saint Valentine's Day Massacre in Chicago, which captured the entire nation's attention. The country was riveted by the Saint Valentine's Day Massacre. Some of you may be old enough to remember it as children; I have seen movies about it. It absolutely galvanized the nation. In 1929, seven people were killed -- that was a massacre in 1929. In most cities today, it's a normal weekend. Which other politicians have connected the St. Patrick's Day Massacre to policy and legislation? What do they get right – and what do they get wrong – about Al Capone's involvement? And what did former Attorney General Merrick Garland get as a farewell gift that is closely associated with the Massacre? Find out in this week's episode of C-SPAN's podcast “The Weekly" … as we mark a romantic, sweet holiday – when Americans unify by celebrating love and friendship – by remembering a horrific bloody massacre . Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow were Depression Era outlaws who are just known by their first names. They have been romanticized as young lovers who stood by each other and lived life on their own terms. But in reality, Clyde was a thief and a murderer and Bonnie was his willing accomplice. For just over two years they went on a crime spree in the early 1930s robbing and killing. They were finally stopped when a 6 man posse headed by a former Texas Ranger shot and killed them with over 100 bullets, execution style, on a country road in Louisiana.
It's Die Hard in a ghost town! This time week, Phil and Liam throw a bottle in the air and follow it into the desert, as they try to make sense of the dark and brooding action/thriller/western/gangster picture LAST MAN STANDING.During the prohibition era, mysterious gunslinger John Smith (Bruce Willis) rolls into the small, remote border town of Jericho, Texas, where two rival bootlegging gangs have an uneasy and fragile truce. As Smith gets the lay of the land, he works both sides against the other in search of quick profit…until the conscience that he claims he doesn't have, forces him to pick a side. After comparing the film to the original 1988 classic in the ‘Die Hard DNA' section, the boys discuss their feelings about writer-director-producer Walter Hill and his robust filmography, citing their favorite Hill movies. As this particular film is a credited remake of Akira Kurosawa's 1961 classic YOJIMBO, Liam is in his element waxing lyrical about the Japanese maestro. Phil also espouses his theory that Hill's remake is less of an action movie, and more of an existential exploration of purgatory. The guys also talk about this film's remarkable ensemble cast, that features stellar performances from Walter Hill staples John Patrick Kelly and Bruce Dern, as well as the likes of William Sanderson, Leslie Mann, Ken Jenkins, Michael Imperioli, Karina Lombard and of course Christopher Walken as the Tommy Gun-toting mob enforcer Hickey. Finally, the guys bust into the ‘Die Hard Oscars' to fire off some action movie awards, and Phil slings Liam some tough questions in the ‘Double Jeopardy' trivia quiz!LAST MAN STANDING trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=763cIT4IXoQAt the time of release, LAST MAN STANDING is streaming on Tubi in the US and is available to rent or buy on Amazon Prime Video, Apple/iTunes, YouTube, Fandango and all the usual platforms! From owning acclaimed eateries to forging unexpected alliances in a federal detention center, Frankie “Spice” Morelli has made his mark as a culinary maestro who respects the power of authentic Italian food. Now, in his publishing debut, Morelli creates and compiles delicious recipes, healthful nutrition and decades of experience into MOBB Cookbook & Diet: Savor and Slim the Italian Way (MOBB Publishing; ISBN: 9798989079612; Hardcover). It's a pizza box-sized, full-color coffee table cookbook blending 70-plus recipes, along with nearly 200 original full-color photos and tantalizing mob lore with a vital ingredient: a priority on health. Teaming up with Dr. Sandra “Diet Duchess” Frank, Ed.D., RDN, FAND, who nutritionally vetted the recipes in the book, Morelli guarantees that every dish in this book can be enjoyed as part of a well-balanced, nourishing diet. Whether cooking on-camera, providing b-roll footage for the perfect virtual demo, or just chatting with the host, producer or editor, Frankie can share his five secrets for making the BEST spaghetti and meatballs … this side of The Clink: Undercook your pasta because even when you take it out of boiling water it is still cooking! To prepare the sauce, sauté fresh garlic in oil, deglaze with white wine … and mix in salt and black pepper. To make the sauce, use only San Marzano tomatoes—they are imported from Italy and are naturally sweet without an acidic taste. With a stick or a home blender, puree the tomatoes and combine with the sautéed garlic mixture. Do not add sugar! Simmer it all on “low” for 4 hours. Make the meatballs as big as a softball … the smaller you make the balls, the harder they become when you cook ‘em. Use 80/20 ground beef/ground pork, parmesan cheese, breadcrumbs, parsley, eggs, cream, salt and pepper, and olive oil. Says Frankie, “The better the meatball, the more protection I had in The Joint!” Put the balls into the oven for 30 minutes at 325 degrees … take ‘em out, flip them and cook for the same amount of time … and that's it. Simplicity is the essence of Italian cooking! MOBB Cookbook & Diet includes an array of recipes, like Don Pasquale's Shrimp Scampi, Lucky Luciano's Luscious Lady Fingers and even Lou “The Hebrew Hammer's” favorite Matzo Ball Soup. It's filled with “fun” facts about notorious and alleged mobsters, including “Tommy Guns,” Jimmy “The Beast,” Jeremy “The Jett” and other members of the author's diverse circle of acquaintances from the Sicilian mob, Italian Cosa Nostra and the wide multicultural world of gangsters. Web: www.ourmobb.com About the Author Frankie "Spice" Morelli is a resilient culinary maestro and entrepreneur with an innate understanding of delicious and nourishing, authentic yet innovative Italian food. Hour 2 - The Texas Rangers won their first World Series last night. The ratings for this year's world series have been the worst of all time. Elon Musk was on Joe Rogan's podcast and he claims the Cyber Truck can get shots from a shot gun and tommy gun with no penetration.
Daddy's home and there's yarning to do. Tommy Gun, Cambodian and Quinntrex absolutely bring the heat and knock the top off some tins to bring you the wildest and longest episode yet for the big double century. To kick things off, we drop next year's hottest 100 winner that we've been holding up our sleeves as a surprise for the trendsetters. Cam takes us through his holiday at Northwest, including cruise control nearly causing a second Titanic. Tom has developed and discovered a new injury only relevant to the podcast industry. Before Cooking with Daddy, each of the team picks some of their favourite moments of the history of the show, including some of the best sayings to come from our adventures. Cooking with Daddy takes a seafood spin before diving in to the hottest topic since Punkin in the Alpha News, the Colorado Yeti. A very deep chat between all three of the boys during motivation before diving in to the Bumper Vs. Dumper debate and finally, eight of the most premium yarns from the most elite characters of the show that result in some proper wheezing moments and Cam confessing his concerning love for Bidets. We only aimed to crack the two hours, but we really let loose and had such a ball together that we kept it going naturally for the full four and a bit hours. We couldn't thank all you legends enough for your support and to say thanks, here's the longest and probably wildest episode of the Alpha Blokes Podcast yet. Enjoy the ride, and here's to the many more milestones to come!Bought to you by Better Beer Zero Carb: www.betterbeer.com.au Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Tommy Gun and the co-host that poos the most are back for another week. The boys dive into all sorts of mischief this week, including a Prank Call with the Poo, the Poo's pub reviews and some wild events as per usual in the Alpha News. Tommy dives in to the logistics of his man cave and how it's all coming together as he christened his keg system. Something different in the motivation from our main man the Rude and we finish it off some platinum yarns from three of our favourite trendsetters. Enjoy!Bought to you by Better Beer Zero Carb: www.betterbeer.com.au Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Marriage is a wonderful thing! Marriage can also be complicated, really anything involving human beings can be complicated AND that is ok! There is a certain beauty to the human experience even when it's messy. I am here to tell you, You are one decision away from being on the path to becoming the Rocky Balboa in your own story, conversely you are one decision away from being on the Tommy Gun path as well. It's not one decision per say that gets you there, it's more like one decision that we do not reconcile that leads us further down the path and farther away from the choices we should be making to be the Man we want to see in the mirror. Our listener email today has a heavy story. There are some incredible challenges he and his wife are facing, I have the deepest level of gratitude for his willingness and courage to reach out AND allow us to present an open discussion on how to begin making steps to reconcile.Join us for this episode ! In this week's No Lowballers podcast by GoWild presented by GunBroker.com, we're talking about guns that have connections … to the mob and organized crime. If you love the mobster scene and the classic mob movies, find out which of these guns you can take home to own yourself from GunBroker.com! What are some of the best mob movies of all time? We kick things off talking about the Thompson Submachine Gun a.k.a. The Tommy Gun. Is the Tommy Gun the quintessential gangster gun?? Did you know the background of this story starts near Louisville? Kentucky certainly has several more ties to the mob era–find out what other connections those are! Host Logan from High Caliber History recounts the exciting story of the St. Valentine's Day Massacre, an event that made the Tommy Gun famous. Also be sure to check out The Mob Museum in Las Vegas to learn more about this and other historic events that shaped American history. Why did the military have no interest in this firearm when they first considered it? Next, we're talking about some of the handguns that have been associated with mobsters but also have had their place in the military, like the Colt 1911. Logan mentions a recognizable name in the firearm industry who has a highly unusual, ultra-modified 1911. Allen talks about why mobsters were able to out-gun police and law enforcement. We also take a hands-on look at the Smith & Wesson Military & Police .38 Special, a revolver that eventually went on to become the Smith & Wesson Model 10. We also peeked at a Colt 1903 Hammerless .32ACP. These calibers seem small by our standards today, but in their prime they brought plenty of knockdown power. Brad makes a great point about why both mobsters and military soldiers enjoyed these pocket pistols. We also talked about the game-changing National Firearms Act of 1934 and how that shaped firearm purchases for the future. This is when the federal government started to place restrictions, and more came with the Gun Control Act of 1968 and then the Hughes Amendment in 1986. If you like what you're hearing, please leave us a rating and review!! The No Lowballers podcast is a brand new joint venture between GoWild and GunBroker.com to explore the history and heritage of firearms. We hope to expose you to the vintage guns of the golden age along with newer, modern guns, specialty items, and a few other odd balls along the way. Jump in and come along for the ride! The show launches every Thursday morning. Subscribe wherever you listen to podcasts. Check out the Sportsmen's Empire Podcast Network for more relevant, outdoor content!
