In this episode, Courtenay invites Dr. Jennifer Taylor, DC, DCCJP to the show to share what makes her practice with upper cervical chiropractic care so unique. We've all heard that the nervous system is predominantly ruled by emotions, but Dr. Jenn is here to share a different perspective. Her work with upper cervical care focuses on the base of the skull and atlas C1 & C2, which is a neurologically dense area of the nervous system many people don't hear about. Chronic conditions like post-concussion syndrome, dizziness, vertigo, migraines, chronic fatigue, depression, anxiety, irritability, and brain fog often stem from this space. Kyle Forster was born and raised in Lubbock, Texas. He graduated from Coronado High School back in the early '90s, then went to Texas Tech. His father started Forester Construction back in '85, and he had gotten sick right before Kyle graduated college. Kyle was about to go to law school but instead helped out at Forster Construction, which he owns today. In this episode he will tell us about:He had low back pain. His back would pop out, and he tore a muscle across his back at 18 years old. He has had a lot of pain on an ongoing basis since then.2 years before meeting Ruth, Kyle started having jaw pain that moved to his eyes, which he thought was from previously being hit in the jaw by a golf ball. He went to a chiropractor and got popped. The pain got worse so he started going to a bunch of different doctors.Kyle was diagnosed with Trigeminal Neuralgia. It was pure hell. There's no other word for it. It's pure hell. Three hours of sleep at night. doctors that there are very few options. You can solder the nerves in your face where your face will droop, and that'll help ease the pain. Or you can do Botox for temporary relief. Then the other was heavy medication. None of those options seemed acceptable to Kyle.Kyle and Ruth met at a Referral Networking group called Referral Hub in Lubbock, TX. Kyle had been praying the night before to show me a sign. Ruth shared with the group that Blair Chiropractic Clinic helps people who suffer from Trigeminal Neuralgia and headaches. Kyle decided to talk to her, and he put it across that he wanted to try this. He was desperate and was willing to try anything at this point. At his first appointment with Dr Elder, he got an adjustment that didn't feel like anything had happened. 4 days later, he slept through the night for the first time in 2 ½ years. Pain decreased over the next couple of months. Not only did the Trigeminal Neuralgia get better, but his low back pain and sciatica, with the pain and numbness going down the leg, also improved.Because of the great results, Kyle has referred lots of family members and friends for Upper Cervical Care at the Blair Chiropractic Clinic in Lubbock.Kyle Forster and his brother-in-law own Forster Construction. It's been around since 1985. They do residential and commercial roofing. They're not a jack of all trades. They concentrate on just roofing and take good care of their clients. They offer the best warranties on the residential side and on the commercial side. They have superintendents on both. It's not just some crew coming out, throwing on some shingles, or throwing on a flat product. They take good care of our people. There's a reason they have had an 87% retention rate since 1985. Sciatica, neck, shoulder, and back pain are conditions Upper Cervical Care can help. If you have tried other traditional chiropractic care and didn't get the results you were aiming for, you might want to try Upper Cervical Care at Revive Upper Cervical. Most neck and back pain comes from tight muscles and worn-out joints. The upper neck area of the spine sustains more damage throughout our life. When we have accidents and injuries, the alignment of the neck gets damaged first since it's the weakest link. Over time, this spinal misalignment can cause wear and tear on joints of the lower neck, the lower back, the hips, and the shoulders. Our job at Revive Upper Cervical is to realign the spine in the most gentle and precise way, get your head back on straight, and get you back to living a full life without pain. Alexis was experiencing post-concussion syndrome after an ATV accident she was involved with. Prior to getting care, she would feel the left side of her face and the left side of her arm starting to get numb. She also felt severe migraines and neuralgia pain throughout her face. She would always be lightheaded and could not even perform simple household chores like doing the laundry or washing the dishes. It has also affected her work; she would just feel pain throughout the day. It greatly affected her daily life; she could not do things she loved to do. The first couple of appointments at Revive Upper Cervical was very beneficial for Alexis. She has been under Upper Cervical Care for 9 months now and life has drastically improved for her. She is able to move now and has a lot of energy to do her daily tasks. She's very grateful and happy with the care she received at Revive Upper Cervical. Today's episode is about a discussion about sciatica. Sciatica is named after the Sciatic Nerve. It is the nerve that helps your brain communicate with the lower leg. It starts in the nerve roots in your lower back's lumbar spine. Those nerves come together and form the sciatic nerve, one of the thickest nerves in the human body. It extends down the back of the thigh and divides above the knee joint. Sciatica is the pain radiating along that path: your lower back, hips and buttocks, and each leg. If you would like to view the whiteboard discussion as I explain, you can find it on Youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HZa3O8NWAG0 As always Stay Connected w/ @DrIanBulow on all the socials and with the clinic @ReviveUCC - Youtube, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok
Dr. Emily Savage of Revive Upper Cervical Talks About Scoliosis. Scoliosis is an abnormal lateral curvature of the spine. You can also notice this when there is an unequal level of the shoulders and the pelvis, which then translates down to the legs and feet. Several factors can cause Scoliosis: Congenital, Structural, Neurological According to a 2021 study published by the Journal of Musculoskeletal Disorders and Treatments, a subtle neurological imbalance of the bilateral peripheral muscle tone could be a plausible causative factor for scoliotic deformation initiation. Spinal growth and imbalance of the paraspinal muscles both result in biomechanical instability, leading to the progression of the scoliotic curve. The craniocervical junction misalignment may induce a neuromuscular imbalance leading to functional leg length discrepancy and is associated with Scoliosis. Dr. Miranda always knew that she wanted to impact the world and be a part of a greater design for herself and others. Intrigued with the mind and behaviors of others she decided to major in psychology and graduated from USF with her bachelors in psychology. Although she enjoyed learning about psychology she was looking for something much deeper and life changing as a career. In the midst of her searching, her father had a car accident which lead him to see a Chiropractor. As she discussed her plans with her parents, her father started to talk about Chiropractic and how she should research that field. Up to that point Dr. Miranda did not know much about it. Although she had a naturalistic approach to health, such as allowing the body to heal without drugs she never considered Chiropractic. After doing her research, she realized the profession resonated with her philosophy of life and would allow her to touch and heal so many lives, which was her ultimate goal. So, she decided to attend graduate school at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Daytona, Florida. It was through her own health struggles that brought her into a more specialized field within Chiropractic, called Upper Cervical Care. UPPER CERVICAL CHIROPRACTIC with DR. GEORGE GERTNER, DC At Upper Cervical Chiropractic of New York, Dr. Gertner performs a very specialized form of Upper Cervical Care called NUCCA (National Upper Cervical Chiropractic Association). NUCCA is a painless spinal correction procedure that takes pressure off the nervous system and gently restores the skull, spine, and pelvis back to its proper position. This takes pressure off the nerves and allows the body to return to its natural, healthy state. Dr. Gertner is one of only 200 doctors worldwide who perform this advanced spinal correction, which can provide long lasting relief to some of the most severe and chronic conditions. Dr. Gertner received his bachelors degree in biology from Hofstra University in Hempstead, NY before moving to Atlanta, GA to attend Life University where he received his DC (Doctor of Chiropractic degree). Before graduation, when Dr. Gertner had a severe lower back injury healed by a chiropractor using the NUCCA technique, he decided to invest two more years learning this advanced procedure.
