WARRIOR CAMP Director: DerekPhone: 208-866-0743Email: warriorcamp1@gmail.com1. The ProblemChase and Zack are young kids. God created them in and calls them to, a sacred, masculine identity in Him. But they don't fully know what that is, or where to find it. So, they both may tend to ricochet their way through childhood and adolescence without really discovering God and being inspired by who He created them to be. To make it tougher, Chase and Zack have had a hard time finding clear tracks worth following. Then there's the popular cultural idea that all the real fun exists outside the church, Christianity is boring, and God resembles an angry boss who likes to squash our fun. During Chase and Zack's limited exposure to religion, it hasn't been bad, but they're starting to look elsewhere for something more. 2. The Solution We believe in the power of fun to create inroads for the Gospel. We believe if it's Christian, it should be better. We believe legitimate fun is God's idea, and creating it should be our masterpiece. Warrior Camp is passionate about reclaiming the lost territory of legitimate fun that rightly belongs to God. How do we do this? Through designing and hosting the most epic games, challenges, and activities we can imagine, all to give Campers an experience pulsing with unforgettable fun, and that brings honor and glory to Jesus Christ! (BTW, if you love duck-duck-goose or cheesy VBS games, sorry but Warrior Camp isn't for you!).Pete and Jake are both unique leaders of integrity, enthusiasm, adventure and passion for God and His Word. They love hanging out with kids and youth, pointing them to the Risen King Jesus Christ, and re-igniting the fire of Biblical Masculinity in the way God intended. They also love competing in epic games, forging rock-solid bonds of brotherhood in Christ, and seeing God inspire a generation of boys and men after His own heart. As Pete and Jake connect with the Campers at Warrior Camp, the walls start to come down and Chase and Zack get excited about the new thing God wants to do in their lives. Derek, President of the Board Derek grew up in Idaho catching bugs, tadpoles, and frogs, riding bikes, climbing trees, and renovating his family's spider-infested crawlspace into a boys-only-hideout complete with defining codewords and ninja turtle vibes. God blessed Derek with parents who's love and devotion to Christ were clear and contagious. Even though the highschool environment wasn't easy, God used the public school context in which Derek ascended, to light a fire for bold, uncompromising faith that was passionate to 'give an answer' (1 Peter 3:15) and invite friends to church/youth group. After highschool, Derek attended and graduated from Liberty University with a BS Degree in Youth Ministry and an MA Degree in Apologetics. While at Liberty University, and with an unconventional origin, God inspired Derek with a vision to harness the appeal ofThe Fellowship of Christian Athletes' exciting local radio program, Heart of the Athlete, airs Saturdays at 9 am MST on KBXL 94.1 FM. Today is Wednesday, April 20, 2022. I don't typically publish podcast episodes on Wednesdays, but I have a good reason to publish one today! She earned her BS Degree in Pharmacy from UCONN in 1998. Then, she earned her Post-Bac PharmD from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston in 2000. Renu did not know what she wanted to do with her PharmD when she graduated. According to Renu, “It's ok to not know and make it up as you go along.” She spent time in community practice as a floater, then entered the U.S. PHS. Her PHS service was interrupted briefly when she left PHS to join a clinical regulatory team at Genentech in San Francisco, CA. When that role ended, she rejoined PHS. As of October 2021, her total service time is approximately 10 years. While in her undergrad program at UCONN, Renu learned about PHS. A speaker from the Indian Health Service spoke to her class. After finishing her BS Degree in Pharmacy, Renu joined the U.S. PHS as a JRCOSTEP and completed a paid, 4-month rotation at a Psych Hospital in SE DC called St. Elizabeth's Hospital. She loved the experience and thought it was amazing! Students can join either the JRCOSTEP Program or the SRCOSTEP Program. Both are paid positions with benefits. Visit https://www.usphs.gov/students/ to learn more. During our conversation, I talked about my experience with PHS at the Federal Bureau of Prisons. I did an 8-week rotation at FCI Milan during the last semester of my BS Pharm Degree program at The University of Toledo College of Pharmacy in 2001. My pharmacist in charge was creative and resourceful, and she did amazing things with a small formulary. I learned a lot from her and that experience. I wanted to join the Navy upon graduation, but I was medically disqualified due to asthma. The United States Public Health Service (U.S. PHS) is led by the Surgeon General of the U.S. and is more than 200 years old. It is one of eight uniformed services and is the only one dedicated solely to protecting and advancing America's Public Health. As a U.S. PHS Officer, Renu is first in line to defend America from public health threats, including deploying for public health emergencies. She has deployed many times and provided essential healthcare to underserved and vulnerable populations. The U.S. Public Health Service used to be “pharmacy's best kept secret,” but that's not true anymore because PHS has played a prominent role in response to COVID. As a PHS Officer, there is an opportunity to serve in many HHS (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services) agencies. Examples include IHS (Indian Health Service), BOP (Federal Bureau of Prisons), NIH (National Institutes of Health), CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), FDA (Food and Drug Administration), EPA (Environmental Protection Agency), SAMSHA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration), and others. Being an Officer makes it easy to transfer among agencies. According to Renu, PHS Officer benefits are great! They are on the military pay scale with paid vacation, retirement benefits (with minimum of 20 years of service), medical benefits, the GI Bill and more. Here's how Nancy went from University of Cairo graduate to US Pharmacist: 2005 BS Pharm University of Cairo 2007, Passed the FPGEE 2008, Passed the TOEFL-IBT 2008-2011, earned 2,000 internship hours to become eligible for the New Jersey MPJE and NAPLEX exam. 2011, passed the New Jersey MPJE and the NAPLEX. 2012, passed the Texas MPJE and became a Texas-licensed pharmacist Nancy loved learning English. She started in high school, and she also learned by watching/listening to American television shows, like Dr. Phil. Nancy struggled with getting hired by a pharmacy to complete her internship hours. They underestimated Nancy's value. Nancy found a good opportunity to work as a pharmacist in Texas (2012), so she earned her Texas pharmacist license and relocated from New Jersey to Texas. After 6 months, she was promoted to the position of Pharmacy Manager. In 2014, she left that job for another retail Pharmacy Manager job. She has been with the same company since 2014. Nancy gave birth to three daughters between 2008 and 2014. Working in a community practice setting while pregnant is a challenge. Standing for long hours is hard; doing it while pregnant is even more difficult! Much respect to all the pregnant women pharmacists who work long hours on their feet with little or no breaks. In September 2020, Nancy founded Texas Pharmacogenomics Consulting, LLC. She is an entrepreneur outside her FT community practice job. (She is not an intrapreneur for her employer.) Her patients find her through her website, social media, and marketing in town. To learn more, visit https://texaspgx.com. PGX (Pharmacogenomic) testing is done using a cheek swab. It is sent to a lab. Nancy looks at lab data for information about a patient's genes, enzymes, and more. She considers drug interactions, lifestyle, and alcohol use. Then, she collaborates with prescribers and makes plans and recommendations. Nancy works with individuals patients, prescribers, and laboratories. Through Texas Pharmacogenomics Consulting, Nancy coaches other pharmacists who want to start a PGX practice. She saves them money on tools they don't need, tells them which labs to collaborate with, instructs them on how to read a lab report, and more. Nancy pursued additional education to learn about PGX. She is a Certified Pharmacogenomics Consultant Pharmacist. Nancy shared a PGX success story about a patient with PTSD. The patient got what he needed and avoided using an inappropriate medication. Keli and Paulette share together the fears women have when they are about to embark on the process and journey of divorce. Here is a bit of Keli's background and why she is so well equipped to be the one to educate and empower women in all stages of financial needs. I am a Financial Planner and CPA with an entrepreneurial background and a passion for helping people achieve their financial objectives. As a licensed Registered Representative and CPA, I bring a tax-efficient approach to my clients’ financial circumstances. And as a small business owner, I recognize the value of innovative approaches to financial freedom. My decades of accounting experience and my entrepreneurial spirit have formed my philosophy - providing my clients with smart choices that will help them create a secure future. Background I obtained my BS Degree in Accounting from Florida State University in 1988. I then worked for Arthur Andersen until I took a position as a financial analyst at McDonald’s Corporation’s Regional Accounting Center in Clearwater, Florida. I ultimately became Regional Accounting Supervisor and was then promoted to Assistant Controller in the Atlanta office. When my three boys were young, I spent a few years at home to devote my time and energy to their early development. When those initial demands settled, I was looking for a way to fulfill my passions and return to the workforce. I wanted an opportunity that would allow me to help people and make a difference in their lives. In working with my own financial professional at the time, I realized financial planning would allow me to expand on my strengths and qualifications to meet the challenge of a new career. In 2011, I formed Keli Hazel and Associates, LLC, and joined Money Concepts because of their broad range of nonproprietary financial products. As my company grew, so did my desire to pursue the best ways to serve my clients. In 2019, I became affiliated with U.S. Planning Group in order to continue to move my company forward. I remain independent, with no proprietary products or services to promote and no quotas to fill. USPG’s technology and additional support will improve the efficiency and security of our operations, increasing the time that I can spend working for and with clients. My ultimate goal is to create a personal financial strategy specific to your unique needs. I look forward to working with you soon! The product has won numerous design and innovation awards including the 2019 National Association of Broadcasters or NAB product of the year, and Video Indexer brings together everything from facial detection to visual content moderation. Ed's been at Microsoft for almost 19 years, and brings with him a BS Degree in Computer Science and Engineering from MIT.We talk today with Ed deeply about how organizations are typically approaching machine learning and advanced technologies with focus on scale and optimization, but why the true focus should be on purpose. Jami Hanna is an ACE Certified Personal Trainer with over 30 years of experience and holds a BS Degree in Health, Physical Education and Leadership. She has a specialist certification in Sport Nutrition and is certified by the Functional Aging Institute. Jami loves spending time with her family (especially her grandkids), messing up the kitchen with family and friends, listening to awesome 70’s music, dancing with abandon, hiking and mountain biking, and last but definitely not least, laughing and having FUN! And here’s the ugly truth: I love the Mantra: “When I give the best of me, that becomes my legacy.” And I am on a mission: bring powerful and transformational positive change to those I serve. The naked truth? I spent most my life hiding severe pain behind a big smile. Traumatic events caused my life to unravel. And I know I am not alone. That is why it is my passion to help people learn to enhance their stress resilience when dealing with abuse, addiction, PTSD, suicide, divorce and low self-worth. And I do it through fitness. I have found that when people move their bodies, healing begins. But many are stuck and don’t feel motivated to get started. That is where I get to work my magic and inspire people to get moving! It is so much fun to watch the transformation … a stressed-out client walks into the studio and within minutes of moving, the smile appears naturally. And that is just the beginning. This is the point where they step into their power. And the benefits are priceless: more energy, vitality, self-love and the ability to deal with this thing called ‘life’. Movement begins the process of healing from within. And it is incredibly rewarding when they say, “Thank you. You changed my life.”
