Paartherapie ? Jetzt hätte ich da noch eine neue Strophe : Än frisch gschidnäää Paartherapeut kiiit vam Himmel a briiiii - a fructarierin hät Liebiiii bstellt ! Und ja eben Love and Cabbage goes together like a Horse and Radish ( Horseradish ? ) Geil ?

Portugal is a beautiful country with numerous attractions and CAN offer affordable living for individuals who choose to move to Portugal from abroad. However, to have a successful move to Portugal, I personally believe that expats should have a balanced view of both the positives and negatives of what it is like to live in Portugal. In this living abroad expat podcast episode of Not Your Average Globetrotter, I'll share some of the things that might be challenging for expats to adjust to with when living in Portugal. Firstly, the cost of living in desirable areas of Portugal, such as Lisbon and Porto, can be expensive, especially for those on a fixed income. Rent for a two-bedroom apartment in some places such as Cascais can be as high as €2000-€3000, a far cry from the low prices that are often praised in the media. Traffic in some parts of the country can be challenging. However, public transportation in the cities can be relatively good but many locals will complain about it and rural areas can be difficult to access with public transportation. The Portuguese population is growing and many people are choosing to relocate to Portugal, which means issues such as traffic and the cost of living might not get better as time goes on... Additionally, the Portuguese bureaucracy can be quite confusing for individuals who may come from a country like the US which often doesn't have a lot of bureaucracy that has to be dealt with. The process of getting residency permits and other necessary paperwork can be time-consuming and frustrating. Language barriers can also be a challenge for those who didn't grow up speaking the language. The good news is that many locals can speak English. Although, in some instances, it can be difficult to navigate certain situations without speaking Portuguese. It's important to make an effort to learn the language in order to integrate into Portuguese society fully. Cultural differences can also be lead to frustrating moments for some expats… For example, business hours can be limited and many shops close for an extended lunch break or full closures on Sundays. The pace of life in Portugal can be slower and more relaxed, which can be a welcome change for some, but a frustration for others. Overall, living in Portugal can be a rewarding and fulfilling experience, but it's important to go in with realistic expectations and be prepared to adapt to the challenges that come with living in a foreign country. By taking the time to learn about the culture and language, and being patient with the bureaucracy, expats can have a successful move to Portugal. 00:00 - Opening Thoughts & Intro 00:38 - The Cost of Living in Portugal 02:26 - Traffic in Portuguese cities can be a problem… 04:06 - Public Transportation in Portugal Can Be Limited in Rural Areas 06:57 - The rental market in Portugal can be VERY competitive! 08:12 - Portugal can be VERY Hot and Humid in the Summer… 10:33 - The hours that stores are open can be VERY limited…
According to Flower Power Daily red roses are getting some competition. Toffee Roses are VERY HOT right now and florists everywhere are clamoring to get their hands on them. In the past year rose farms have quadrupled their ‘toffee rose' production and there's even a toffee rose black market since only a handful of farms have the exclusive rights to this new rose color tone. Even the toffee colored rose names like Frappachino, Caramel, and Golden Mustard are protected by a licensing rights. Jill Brooke, Founder and editorial director of Flower Power Daily says, “We have anointed the toffee rose to symbolize “open-minded, open-hearted and blended.” This rose does speak to 2023 and is a fitting addition to our changing social landscape, which embraces all the colors of love.” FPD reports that according to the Pew Research Center, 17% of all marriages in 2022 were of mixed races and ethnicities. The toffee/taupe roses are a perfect choice to represent that cultural shift. It's no longer just white roses at the wedding or for the wedding bouquet. Jill says the unsung heroes of the flower industry are all the breeders and scientists who work diligently to develop new rose colors every year in the hope that something new catches on. To their delight, toffee roses caught on big time. FPD wrote that Joey Azout, president of Alexandra Farms, which produces David Austin roses among other brands, says “sales of sand, toffee, and nude color roses now make up 30% of the color assortment.” And FPD shared that in anticipation of the growing popularity of this color wave, Rosaprima Roses also introduced RP Moab last year. The company said it planted 20,000 plants and now will increase that production to 150,000 because of demand. Ryan Black, of Miami-based Jet Fresh Flowers, told FPD, a “black market” for the flowers is emerging since only a handful of farms have the exclusive rights to this color tone and are trying to grow them illegally without breeder permission. Black, who is the fourth generation of his family in the flower business, says the company's Ecuador farm grows varieties including Symbol and Quicksand which are selling as briskly as real estate in Florida. Jill says in the U.S. California is the major rose growing epicenter but in South America, Columbia and Ecuador are really big flower generating locations. Theres some really good news in all this toffee rose hoopla for small business. Local Florists who have been finding it harder and harder to compete with the supermarkets selling flowers, are the only ones who can get and sell these rare toffee roses. Interesting fact about Supermarkets said Jill. They've recognized that people buy more in their stores when they see flowers because seeing flowers makes them feel happier. When people feel good they spend more. Supermarkets who can sell flowers cheaper than local florists because they buy in bulk, have set up their flower stations at the front of their stores so people see them when they first walk in. In addition to talking toffee, Jill and took a few minutes on Valentines Day to review the meanings of the different colors of roses. Red = passion White = purity and innocence Pink = elegance and charm appreciative love Yellow = friendship and courage Peach = enthusiasm mischief and fun Jill who is passionate about all things floral said, “Flowers convey a dictionary of feelings without saying a word”. How true. Listen in as Jill Brooke and I discuss all the toffee rose hoopla in this podcast of our live girlfriends in business conversation on The Debbie Nigro Show

I’ve been going through a lot recently with corona and quarantine and everything, and just really need to stop thinking about my own life for a second. Unfortunately, most things I read or watch remind me of myself and my relationships. The only thing that’s been helping is watching Avatar: The Last Airbender and playing Papa’s Bakeria non-stop, lol. I just really need something fun and cute and escapist that I can binge-read and not think about the world. Love, -Maria 2. It is hot hot HOT and I am craving some winter fairy tale magic. (To be fair, I am almost always in the mood for this sort of thing, but it is Very Hot.) I was the Children’s Book Buyer at an indie bookstore until recently, meaning I am quite well-versed in the Middle Grade and YA options, so I’m searching for a recommendation from the adult side of things. While I loved the quiet magical realism of The Snow Child, I’m looking for something more along the lines of The Bear and the Nightingale or Spinning Silver. Thank you thank you! -Hana 3. Hello Get Booked team! Your podcast is one of my absolute favorites – I am an avid listener. Do you have any recommendations for comics, short stories, chapter books, etc. featuring Superman and/or Spiderman for reluctant beginner readers? If possible, I would like to avoid those “easy reader” / “I can read” books. I’d love books that explore these superheroes’ origin stories in a kid-friendly way, in addition to fighting bad guys. The reader I have in mind is 6 years old and will try to read above their level if really interested (but is currently struggling). I told this reader a bit about Superman’s origin story myself like a bedtime story and they were hooked. I’d really like to foster a love for books and reading this way, if possible. -Sel 4. I’m a bookseller in quarantine trying to keep my guilty pleasures book club active and engaged as we have not been able to meet in person since March (we are a notorious loud, slightly tipsy, and chatty group). We read YA, more on the Sarah J Maas end of the scale, and this year we’ve tried to highlight different heritage months in our picks (Black History, Southeast Asian and Pacific Islander, Pride Month, etc). I’m running into trouble finding us something for November, when we’d like to read an Indigenous / First Nations pick. All the ones I have found skew younger or are contemporary, but I’d really like to give them a few Fantasy options. Some picks they’ve loved in the past include THE BONE WITCH and SADIE. We have some members with mental health and PTSD triggers, so please give any content warnings you deem relevant. We try to pick two months in advance so if you can get back to me by September that would be great but if not I’d still love some recs I can pass on to them. Thanks so much! -Faith 5. I have been experiencing a lot of loss over the past few months. That paired with all the pandemic madness and some personal relationship issues I feel like I need a good pick me up book. I’m looking for something that will help me know it is ok to feel what I feel. Maybe something with a lot of feels that I can cry with. Fiction or non-fiction is ok. Just a good emotional book that will help me release some feelings and feel better after reading. -Noelle 6. The All Souls Trilogy is one of my all-time favorites, but I haven’t been able to find anything similar that’s not YA! Fantasy, magic, romance, and a little bit sexy. -Aislinn 7. I am looking for historical fiction for my daughter. She is starting school virtually this year and had a hard time with virtual school in the spring. I am looking to supplement her social studies content with some books that can bring that subject to life for her. This year her curriculum includes history and culture from Latin America, the Caribbean, Canada, Europe and Australia. She is 11 and going into 6th grade. Last year she studied WW1 and WW2, and read a few books on those subjects (Diary of Ann Frank, My Friend the Enemy), so we do not need anything involving that time period in Europe. She loves mysteries, horror, and pretty much every graphic novel I’ve given her to read. Bonus points if my advanced 3rd grader can also read these recs. A few of her favorites are the Nancy Drew series, Bloom by Kenneth Oppel, everything by Raina Telgemeier, El Deafo by Cece Bell, and the Greek Myth graphic novel series by George O’Connor. This week, Barbara Carrellas joins me to talk all about tantra. Her incredible, inclusive book, "Urban Tantra" just celebrated it's 10 year anniversary by releasing an updated 2nd edition. The new edition includes tantra for asexual/aromantic folks and an entire chapter on erotic massage for trans and gender non-conformity bodies. If you've listened to the show for any amount of time, you know that I adore this book and Barbara's approach to tantra. And, this week's episode gives you a delicious idea of why - it's so inclusive, so open, so welcoming, and absolutely designed for you to customize it to fit your needs, desires, and life. Tantra shouldn't be about certain positions, heterosexual bodies, masculinity or femininity and certain genders because it's a spiritual practice. And spiritual practices need to include everybody in every body. Grab the 2nd edition of Urban Tantra RIGHT NOW. Looking for my new porn workshop? Pop over here. Follow Sex Gets Real on Twitter and Facebook. It's true. Oh! And Dawn is on Instagram. About Barbara Carrellas: Barbara Carrellas is celebrating the brand new second edition of her bestselling book, Urban Tantra: Sacred Sex for the Twenty First Century—the world’s first LGBTQ- and BDSM-inclusive Tantric sex book. She has also written Ecstasy is Necessary: A Practical Guide To Sex, Relationships and Oh So Much More, and Luxurious Loving. Barbara is the founder of Urban Tantra® — a philosophy, an international community, and an inclusive conscious sexuality practice—and the Urban Tantra® Professional Training Program, a comprehensive training program in the practice and application of conscious sexuality, supporting both personal and professional goals. She was named Best Tantric Sex Seminar Leader in New York City by Time Out/NY Magazine for her Urban Tantra® workshops, and was awarded a 2016 Sexual Freedom Award for Lifetime Achievement.
