In this cybersecurity podcast episode, Chris Cochran and Ron Eddings discuss the concept of 'dojos' as environments for growth and learning, drawing on experiences from their own career paths in cybersecurity. The 'dojo' metaphor is applied to various life experiences, with an emphasis on cybersecurity communities and events. Chris describes his journey to the west coast where he lived in a hacker house, a form of dojo where he, along with his roommates, focused on cybersecurity, technology, personal growth, and development. This life-changing experience spurred the creation of their podcast. Anthony and Juan give their opinions on the smooth comp software if it helped things run smoothly or just made things more rough at the tournament. With the year wrapping up. We give our thoughts on our outstanding judo player of the year 2022. ------------------------------------------- Show notes: https://www.kogaionacademy.org/ https://www.instagram.com/kogaion_academy/ ------------------------------------------- Email us: tatamitalk@gmail.com Follow us on Instagram: @tatamitalk Juan: @thegr8_juan Anthony: @anthonythrows Intro + Outro by Donald Rickert: @donaldrickertCover Art by Mas: @masproducePodcast Site: https://anchor.fm/tatamitalk Also listen on Apple iTunes, Google podcasts, Google Play Music and Spotify

What would happen if your team kept working on its current production tasks, but switched the top priority to learning while doing so? What if this flip would not only include learning facilitation excellence but also would include coaching, technical, and product excellence as well? What would the short term impact be? What effects would be seen in the mid to long term? Join Chris and Austin as they have a fantastic discussion with Joel Tosi and Dion Stewart on "Dojos and Coaching for Learning Beyond Facilitation." After Joel and Doin describe these immersive learning environments in production, they dive into how remote dojos have led to more ensemble programming. Then, for both sports and tech, they cover the many facets of coaching side-by-side and in-context. Lastly, they explore what a post-"Agile" world looks like for them. English Professor by Day, Dragon Fighter by Night. My guest Megan Hartman is the chair of the English Department at the University of Nebraska-Kearney, and even though she could totally take down a dragon, she'd probably be more likely to befriend and ride it. She and I discussed the incredibly broad subject of English and shared ideas on why it's important to be thoughtful, respectful, and attentive communicators with one another. It's super fun, and I really hope you enjoy the listen! Audio Stew is a podcast where I talk with friends, family, and acquaintances alike about a wide variety of topics and why they matter. From life experiences to hobbies, goals to values, the subject matter isn't as important as making time to have good conversation with others. If you enjoy and want to support the show, please follow/subscribe & rate/review (you know, the works) to help the community grow!

Hosted by filmmaker Yujiro Seki, Carving the Divine TV is a series of Q&A sessions with Buddhist scholars and practitioners. These Q&A sessions explore the basic concepts of Buddhism, the history of Buddhism and of course Buddhist sculptures/sculptors (bustuzo/busshi) so that when viewers finally watch the documentary Carving the Divine - Buddhist sculptors of Japan, they will get the maximum value of the documentary. As we deepen the understanding of Japanese Buddhism, we realize Buddhism permeates many aspects of the Japanese culture. There is a reflection of Buddhism in the Japanese language, art, mannerisms, and so on. So, if we wish to have a better understanding of Japanese culture and its people, learning something about Buddhism is a good idea. Today, we have an incredible guest. I mean really incredible… We are going to have a Japanese calligrapher, Shodo Master, William Read. He will talk about the relationship between Shodo (simply translated Japanese calligraphy) and Buddhism, especially Zen Buddhism. We will be asking important questions such as:So what is Shodo? What is the difference between Shuji and Shodo? How’s the relationship between Shodo and Buddhism, especially Zen Buddhism? How does Shodo help the students of Zen have a deeper understanding of Koan? Can you show us some examples of Shodo so that we can visualize the concept that we’ve talked about? Can we do Shodo as a form of meditation? What is the relationship between Shodo practice and Budo practice?William Reed is from the USA, but is a long-time resident of Japan. Currently a professor at Yamanashi Gakuin University, in the International College of Liberal Arts (iCLA), where he teaches Calligraphy and Kanji Culture, as well as other courses related to Samurai Code and Culture, and is Co-Director of Japan Studies. As a Calligrapher, he holds the highest possible rank, a 10th-dan in Shodo and is Vice-Chairman of the Nihon Kyoiku Shodo Renmei, and is also a Certified Graphology Adviser from the Japan Graphologist Association. He has won numerous awards in International Competitions, and regularly participates in Exhibitions in Ginza Tokyo, and did a full private exhibition in the lobby of the Yamanashi Chuo Bank Headquarters. He has done live performances of Calligraphy on Stages, Historic Sites, for Martial Arts Magazines and Dojos, Sunto Shrines, and Zen Temples. He has published a book on Shodo in English, as well as two papers on Shodo for the Japan Creativity Society. As a Martial Artist, he holds an 8th-dan in Aikido from the Aikido Yuishinkai. Many organizations of all sizes have been publicly experimenting with Dojos—immersive learning environments adopted from ancient martial arts practices—that focus on upskilling teams and producing products. In this week's podcast, our guest Joel Norman shares his thoughts and experiences related to Dojos, including what makes them successful, common challenges uncovered when running Dojos, and why they may not be the ticket to Transformation many organizations hope they'll be.
道場 ‚Stätte des Do, Ort des Weges‘; IPA [doːdʑoː]) bezeichnet einen Trainingsraum für verschiedene japanische Kampfkünste (Budō) wie z.

NOOOOOOOOOO...

The early years are the training ground for teaching kids to be responsible—to make wise choices, to take care of their stuff, and to take care of their friends. While they are young, the stakes are low. But we all know that as they grow, their ability to be responsible for their things, for their money, and for their loved ones—becomes much more important. In this interview, we will talk with Josh Horwege, the father of three and the founder/owner of several Dojos in our community. He is passionate about investing in the lives of kids and students and helping them develop the life skills they need to succeed. We’ll discuss some practical tactics he has applied to help his own kids learn responsibility, as well as tested strategies and building blocks he has used with hundreds of kids in our community to help them learn and grow. Basically the Joe Exotic of Martial Arts, this Irish-American, faux Italian-named Spanish Count mastered the Japanese art of Karate. He claimed to have perfected the ancient, lost technique of Dim-Mak, or The Touch of Death, all while running a chain of bizarre Dojos, Playboy Bunny Hair Salon and hairy muff porn shops in the Chicago area.

Welcome back to a new season! With Covid-19 restrictions still in place, we bring you another Zoom panel! For this reason, the audio quality will be a little different to our usual studio sound. This week, we are joined by Sophie Chao, who we interviewed previously about her use of multispecies ethnography during her time with the Marind People and our very own Deanna Catto! Firstly, our guest this week Sophie Chao [01:49] starts us off by thinking about what we do as anthropologists in relation to the global pandemic. Sophie has had to alter her ethnographic practices because of how things have become “suspended” in the face of Covid-19. She asks us to consider how we as ethnographers and anthropologists need to adapt our methods and our ethics to suit this strange new world. How have you had to adapt your ethnographic methods? Simon [06:49] then reflects on human difference through exploration of the Yezidi creation stories. The Yezidi people are an ethnic and religious minority in Northern Iraq who have two different creation stories which result in two different “peoples”. Simon poses questions of how we, as anthropologists, are able to work with people who have varying world views about themselves and their relationship to others. How do we navigate working with people that have different world views that might be contrary to our own? Deanna [11:36] reflects on how Covid-19 has affected shared spaces, such as her dojo where she practises Karate and how her practise has been forced online. She mentions Durkheim's Collective Effervescence and how she has been able to train online with Karate masters who ordinarily are invited to large yearly gatherings. The group reflects on how Dee's virtual dojo has created an “e-effervescent” landscape. Have you had to do the awkward goodbye at the end of a zoom call? Finally, Alex [16:45] discusses the problems with field notes. He notes that as time progresses, the memories, the sights and the sounds attached to his field notes start to fade. Alex also discusses how easy it is to plant false memories. Dee mentions that even the memories of our interlocutors can be flawed and that we need to be aware of how we as anthropologists are seeing the world. Ben Holt is an explorer, filmmaker, musician, wellness instructor, entrepreneur, but most of all he's a student of life. For the past couple of years Ben has been traveling the world facilitating wellness as well as documenting and immersing himself in the cultures rooted in spirituality, healing and personal growth. He has worked with a variety of plant medicines in the deserts of Mexico and the jungles of the Amazon. He learned meditation and breath work from the masters and gurus in the ashrams of India and the Dojos of East Asia. Ben has literally dedicated his life to being a facilitator of the ascension of humanity. His groundedness in his work and his enthusiasm for healing is infectious. This episode was super special to me because not only is Ben a phenomenal human being but he has lived a lot of my own personal dreams. To be able to pick someone's brain who has had experiences you desire in your own life is priceless and a privilege. This is perhaps on of my favorite episodes. It's so exciting to listen to the stories of an explorer. From his travels to India to learn from the Babas or his experiences with various forms of plant medicine and transformational breath work I think y'all are gonna love this one. Sit back and enjoy. How can we train teams to consistently produce quality code without negatively impacting productivity? In this episode of Programming Leadership, Marcus and his guest, M. David Green, discuss Agile Dojos and how they can make teams more effective. Dojos provide a six-week training ground where teams focus on recognizing and replicating value by pairing, mobbing, and swarming. Coaches like Green help them to hone their skills and go through rituals more effectively. The results will be more engaged team members, scrum masters, and a way of working that converts skeptics and naysayers into Agile evangelists.

Clanton discusses his recently published report, The Project to Product Transformation, and some of the lessons he’s learned from enterprise transformations. He goes into detail on the three stages of enterprises (incubate, scale, and optimize), the 4 leadership constraints many organizations commonly deal with, as well as the concept of Dojos that he helped start in his time at Target. Ross has also recently contributed to "Getting Started with Dojos: A Dojo Handbook". Coaches Jessica Guistolise and Greg Adams-Woodford have been running Dojos at their client successfully for a few years. They explain the purpose and basics of a Dojo and share their experiences from the trenches. Dojo is a place where teams practice - a new physical space where they break down what they’ve done in the past and rebuilding their habits over a six-week period. Additionally, Dojo uses 2.5-day “hyper sprints” that enable teams to deliver real business value more quickly and understand where they’re failing without losing days or weeks. At its heart, Dojo is about building business capabilities and high-functioning teams. And it is not limited to software development: our guests touch on leadership and portfolio Dojos, and tips for success and pitfalls to avoid. Accenture | SolutionsIQ’s Leslie Morse hosts. Agradezco me informen. On today's episode, Jeremy talks about the place and venue that martial artists go to most of the time, the Dojos and Dojangs. Dojos and Dojangs - Episode 313 As martial artists whether practitioner or instructor, we all go to one place to train, hone our skills, or improve our character. A place that is home to most of us, the dojos and dojangs. However, there seems to be a question that needs an answer, how much do we know about the origin of the place we train? On this episode, Jeremy talks about the history of the dojos and dojangs and how it became the place that it is today. We retrace the origins and the significance of the place in the history of martial arts. Listen to learn more!
Kawäms! Das große Finale ist da! (Hans-)Christian Anders schlägt Karate, Wolfgang Hess schnaubt, und Episode Heinz erfreut sich an "Der Brut des Bösen"! Bam! Jessör! Höülzack! Umpf!
