Little did we know when we recorded this episode at the end of March that we'd be sitting here right now with Rory McIlroy as a Grand Slam winner. Yes, we filmed this many weeks before the Masters, so we are clueless to Rory's triumph, hence the complete lack of reference to one of the biggest moments in our sport's history! Back to matters of equipment. This week, Dan has a rant about driving range etiquette and people's obsession with how far they're hitting the ball, Joe has an explainer all about torque in shafts, and this week's Ask The Pod wants to know what our dream equipment and apparel sponsors would be. Later, we're joined by Northern Ireland's second-best golfer (sorry, Tom), gear nerd and equipment aficionado Tom McKibbin, for an in-depth look into his bag for the 2025 season.
Tom Irwin has been spending a lot of time at the range. Co-host Steve Carroll hasn't hit a practice ball in about six months. In this week's podcast, though, the two come together to talk about the driving range experience. Is there an etiquette about turning up to improve our games? What should we wear? Should we block out the world with headphones or take in the whole community experience? Tom's also got some very funny stories about when he worked in a driving range as a younger golfer. The duo don't duck tour matters this week. With LIV Golf now guaranteed spots in the majors, the pair discuss whether the assimilation of the breakaway league into the tour biosphere is now complete. What next for the professional game?

The driving range is NOT where you fix your swing. The driving range is where you hit 200 balls with 7 different swing thoughts. On the driving range, a lot of players wonder... Am I crazy or is this not doing any good at all? You're not crazy! There are 2 big problems on the range. The first is that nobody will do the small swing work that's required to make big swing changes at the range. The second problem at the range is that you get distracted by ball flight. Instead of working on what you came to work on, you end up trying different things to correct ball flight. The driving range does serve a purpose - it's where you work on turning off mechanical swing thoughts and making swings fully locked onto your target.

It's Tuesday, October 24th and this is Engadget Today…the latest tech news with a touch of tranquility for your morning.
If you heard part 1 (the previous episode), you understand things that most players never do like... Why MOST time spent on the range is a waste... AND... Why ball flight can be a distraction and seeing ball flight while practicing can actually SLOW or STOP your progress. Those things are 100% true. But today I want to qualify the statement that the range is a waste of time. Because there ARE times when ball flight is all that matters. Give it a listen! By the way... If you're a 12+ handicap player who's ready to become part of a welcoming community of players who are working together toward conquering their over the top swings and chicken wings for good, visit www.facefirstgolf.com to learn how to swing from the inside and make a release so you can unlock the effortless power that's already inside of you.
Most players think of the driving range as the place you go to improve your game. But is that really the case? Could there be a better way? The answer is YES! If you're ready to stop the madness of marathon ball beating sessions and learn a better way to improve faster with less effort, this one's for you. If you're a 12+ handicap player who's ready to become part of a welcoming community of players who are working together toward conquering their over the top swings and chicken wings for good, visit www.facefirstgolf.com to learn how to swing from the inside and make a release so you can unlock the effortless power that's already inside of you.

Hello again Fellow Golfists, I was able to play my last round of golf of the summer before Mr Producer goes back to school. I was fortunate enough to be able to finally play Hiddenbrooke Golf Club in Vallejo California. This was the site of the 2000 through 2002 Samsung World Championship on the LPGA Tour. This golf course was "such good fun" to play with so many Justin Rose-isms of having many "ebbs and flows" and many "peaks and valleys". I struggled with my driver off the tee during my round at Hiddenbrooke but I had a very good day with my Wilson Staff Gooseneck FG 53 irons and my Titleist Bulls Eye putter. These irons continue to impress me on par3's and approaches to par 4's. I indeed have cool hands while swinging these amazing FORGED irons. I also got to get a good practice session in at the Antelope Greens Golf Course and Driving Range in Elverta California. This facility is really a good place to practice shots on a highly maintained all grass tee driving range facility. I never thought having and maintaining an all grass driving range tee at a public golf facility could be possible. This is a place that I will indeed visit again. Thanks for listening to The Knackered Golfist Podcast!! Today on the Logan Blackman Show we take a look at the current state of college basketball, recapping Florida Atlantic v Kansas State and UConn v Gonzaga. We go over each game, what took place, while also taking a look at the rest of the bracket and see how we've done predicting the tournament as a whole. With that, we go over why we may be the greatest bracket predictor of all time, giving ourselves the new name of the March Madness "Expert." Showing off our expertise, we try our hand at a March Madness based quiz, trying to name every single team that has participated in the tournament this year. Moving to football, we take a look at Kentucky quarterback Will Levis' recent Pro Day and discuss why though the deep throws are impressive, it's not entirely indicative to what life is at the next level. We also take a look at the Carolina Panthers and Indianapolis Colts draft strategies, trying to decide which quarterbacks they could take while also discussing the possibility of the Colts trading back from four in the 2023 draft. Enjoy the show!
