This week the Government set out its strategy to deal with violence against women and girls. This makes up nearly 20% of all recorded crime in England and Wales. Over the last year alone, one in every eight women was a victim of domestic abuse, sexual assault or stalking, according to Home Office figures. Educating boys on misogyny is a key aim of the strategy and figures show that nearly one in five boys aged 13 to 15 are said to hold a positive view of the self-proclaimed misogynist Andrew Tate, according to a YouGov poll. Alex Davies-Jones, the minister for Victims and Tackling Violence Against Women and Girls, joins Anita Rani to discuss the Government's strategy.Hollywood actor Kate Hudson's latest movie Song Sung Blue is based on the real life story of Wisconsin couple Mike and Claire Sardina.

Sixty five professional female models, sixty five bicycle seats that Halfords wouldn't accept when returned, 36 repetitions of the word bicycle. London's FTSE 100 slipped early on, ahead of the European Central Bank's latest interest rate call and US GDP figures on Thursday. Among equities, Wizz Air was one of many to report this morning, with shares in the airline taking a hit after it swung to a loss during the third quarter. Halfords shares also fell, as the retailer backed full-year guidance but unveiled below-expected third-quarter sales. Things were more positive for Dr Martens' stock, as shares climbed on news that tough trading in the three months to December was in line with expectations. Haleon also edged higher early on after announcing the sale of its ChapStick brand to Suave Brands Co to pay down debt. And finally, radiation and bio-detection tech developer Kromek soared after unveiling a £1.4 million order from the EU. #ProactiveInvestors #market report #wizzair #halfords #drmartens #haleon #kromek #invest #investing #investment #investor #stockmarket #stocks #stock #stockmarketnews

Good morning from London, where the FTSE 100 is down this morning on the back of unwelcome inflation data from the ONS. The consumer price index reading of 8.7% in May was evidently more than the market was bargaining for and increases the likelihood of an interest rate rise from the Bank of England tomorrow. According to Truflation analyst Oliver Rust, the likelihood is now of a 50 basis point hike by the Bank, which would bring base interest to 5%. Turning to the stock markets now housebuilder Berkeley has posted a 9.5% jump in full-year pre-tax profits and says its well placed despite ongoing volatility in the UK's housing market. WH Smith and M&S are among hundreds of firms to have been hit with fines from the government, after failing to pay staff minimum wage between 2017 and 2019. High street retailer Halfords has blamed inflation and the downslope from the Covid cycling boom for a 38% fall in profit to £51.5mln during the year to March. And finally with the small caps, Active Energy has secured a European Union trademark for its CoalSwitch biomass technology. #ProactiveInvestors #FTSE100 #invest #investing #investment #investor #stockmarket #stocks #stock #stockmarketnews

Where does Kasper buy his car accessories? Find out on this week's PlayingFTSE Podcast! We're all together for this week's episode and there's lots to talk about. Kicking off, Steve D's found some interesting data about app downloads in November. TikTok vs Instagram? Zoom vs Teams? Spotify? We discuss who's winning the battle for space on people's phones and get an insight into what Paul looks at on TikTok… After that, we're on to worrying about people's jobs. Larry Fink, the BlackRock CEO has been in the headlines. Shockingly, it looks like the company's big ESG drive might all be a marketing manoeuvre. But is Fink's job in danger? Steve D owns BlackRock shares and he's got the latest. Besides Fink, who else is in trouble? Steve W is concerned for Chris Hill (not that one) the Chief Executive at Hargreaves Lansdown. With revenues going backwards, the company's competitive position under threat, and the stock down substantially, might one of the more established UK investment platforms be due a change? Steve D has a revolutionary idea… But Steve D is concerned about Halfords. The company's revenues are up but this is the result of buying up tyre shops and selling off their real estate to fund it. In a world where MOTs are a commodity and electric vehicles are less likely to need oil changes, will this business still be around in 10 years? Paul thinks there's something of value here and Steve W can see a way that he'd prefer the business to operate… All on this week's PlayingFTSE Show!
As the UK jobs market continues to have a high demand for workers, the boss of Halfords tells Sean Farrington how it's trying to coax people out of retirement. Plus, MPs hear about a £500bn hit to UK pension funds as a result of the mini-Budget, and as Balenciaga pulls a controversial advertising campaign, a brand consultant examines how much damage it could do.
Alan Green joins the Podcast to dive into three Uk equities and the key themes driving markets this week.We discuss:Pets at Home (LON:PETS)Halfords (LON:HFD)Harland & Wolff (LON:HARL)We start by looking at the FTSE 100 and whether we could see all time highs in London's leading index – at the same time the UK economy enters a recession. Pets at Home and Halfords were big winners during the pandemic but their shares have drifted since. We crunch the numbers from their interim updates. Harland & Wolff have received a game changing contract win for 3 battleships from the Ministry of Defence. We question how high Harland & Wolff shares could go? Hosted on Acast. In this episode of the What's Next podcast, we speak with Tina Fegent, a leading specialist and consultant in Marketing Procurement. Marketing Procurement is the buying of goods and services that support an organisation's Marketing investment. It covers the Marketing 4 P's – Product; Price; Place (Distribution) and Promotion. It is a wide-ranging category covering spend areas such as advertising through to the negotiation of sponsorship contracts. Tina gives her insight into how Marketing Procurement has grown, evolved and where it is headed. The What's Next podcast explores big ideas and innovative thoughts on the future of Marketing and Advertising. Our guests come from varied backgrounds across the industry; the topics we seek to cover include cultivating positive company culture, consumer & industry trends, leadership and more. ** ABOUT TINA FEGENT ** Tina Fegent was one of the first to work in Marketing Procurement over 25 years ago. Tina then established many of the first Marketing Procurement teams in the UK for Cellnet (Telefonica), SB (GSK) and Orange & France Telecom. From Lucozade Sports bottles to Orange Arrows Formula One Racing, there isn't a category of marketing that she hasn't procured. She was then the first Procurement person to work agency side at Grey Advertising and Lowe London as their Commercial Director. An experience that taught her how agencies work commercially. In 2006 she set up Tina Fegent Consulting to offer a Marketing Procurement Consultancy service to clients. Recent clients (in the last 12 months or so) have been Amazon, SSE, PepsiCo, Halfords, Imperial Tobacco, Checkatrade, P&O Ferries and Aldi. She works at a strategic level to help identify what is required to make marketing procurement successful in an organisation. Market knowledge and stakeholder engagement being some of her key attributes. She manages and works alongside clients and agencies to make sure the best commercial relationship is in place. She also mentors and trains marketing procurement teams and individuals. She has chaired the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) Specialist Knowledge Group on Marketing Purchasing since its inception in 2006. She was a key contributor to the Magic and Logic initiative and am a regular speaker globally on Marketing Procurement. And very proudly she was the first Marketing Procurement person to appear in Campaign's Annual A List of the most powerful people in the Advertising industry! She is also the volunteer Director of Recruitment for the Conscious Advertising Network, which is trying to make sure that the industry ethics catches up with the technology of modern advertising, and brands are being asked to sign up and support the 6 manifestos that are in place to counteract topics such as fake news and ad fraud. ** TINA'S LINKS ** www.tinafegent.com https://www.linkedin.com/in/tina-fegent-fcips-2103573 https://twitter.com/tinafegent ** FOLLOW US ** www.thewhatsnextpodcast.com www.instagram.com/activeintworld www.twitter.com/activeintluk
