Welcome back to another episode of Inside The Bus. Being that this is our 20th episode, we had to bring on a special guest and one of the boys, Delanie Walker. Delanie has gotten super tight with the boys over the last couple years and so he had to jump on the pod. He gets into his path from JUCO to Central Missouri and then to the NFL. He also tells some hilarious stories of going to a predominantly white school in college. The boys then get into when Delanie thought he was actually going to make it to the league and challenges he faced going to a D2 school. Finally the guys get into his time with the San Francisco 49ers and the Tennessee Titans. Be prepared for a lot of laughs and some actual real conversations. Enjoy the Friday hang and as always, much love. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

With America In Major New Administration & the Political News View Headlines Changing Everyday, This Book is Particularly Intriguing Now!!In 1974 John Egerton published his seminal work, The Americanization of Dixie. Pulitzer Prize-winner Cynthia Tucker and award-winning author Frye Gaillard carry Egerton's thesis forward in The Southernization of America, a compelling series of linked essays considering the role of the South in shaping America's current political and cultural landscape. They dive deeper, examining the morphing of the Southern strategy of Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan into the Republican Party of today, the racial backlash against President Obama, family separation on our southern border, the rise of the Christian right, the white supremacist riots in Charlottesville, the death of George Floyd, and the attack on our nation's capitol. They find hope in the South too, a legacy rooted in the civil rights years that might ultimately lead the nation on the path to redemption. Tucker and Gaillard bring a multiracial perspective and years of political reporting to bear on a critical moment in American history, a time of racial reckoning and democracy under siege.Frye Gaillard is an award-winning journalist with over 30 published works on Southern history and culture, including Watermelon Wine; Cradle of Freedom: Alabama and the Movement that Changed America; The Books That Mattered: A Reader's Memoir; Journey to the Wilderness: War, Memory, and a Southern Family's Civil War Letters; Go South to Freedom; A Hard Rain: America in the 1960s, Our Decade of Hope, Possibility, and Innocence Lost; and The Slave Who Went to Congress. A Hard Rain was selected as one of NPR's Best Books of 2018. Writer-in-residence at the University of South Alabama, he is also John Egerton Scholar in Residence at the Southern Foodways Alliance at the University of Mississippi. He is the winner of the Clarence Cason Award for Nonfiction Writing, the Lillian Smith Book Award, and the Eugene Current-Garcia Award For Distinction in Literary Scholarship. In 2019, Gaillard was awarded the Alabama Governor's Arts Award for his contributions to literature.Cynthia Tucker is a Pulitzer Prize-winning syndicated columnist who has spent most of her career in journalism, having previously worked for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution as an editorial page editor and as a Washington-based political columnist. She has also been featured as a political commentator on television and radio. Tucker's work as a journalist has been celebrated by the National Association of Black Journalists (who inducted her into its hall of fame), Harvard University, and the Alabama Humanities Foundation. Championship leadership is rarely about talent alone. It's about consistency, values, and the willingness to do the unglamorous work—especially when no one is watching. For Ross Bernstein, a Hall of Fame speaker and best-selling author of nearly 50 sports books, that truth has been reinforced across thousands of interviews with the world's top athletes and coaches. The most successful leaders, whether in sports or business, operate by a code—one built on trust, culture, and an unwavering commitment to doing things the right way. Bernstein's work focuses on decoding what separates winning teams from the rest. His research draws not only from statistical trends, but from raw, behind-the-scenes conversations inside locker rooms, press boxes, and dugouts. Championship leadership, he explains, isn't about flash or status. It's built on daily habits, strong relationships, and a team-first mentality that fuels performance over the long haul. Integrity is a recurring theme in Bernstein's message. Drawing parallels between sports and business, he emphasizes that true leaders are defined by how they win—not just whether they win. “Anyone can cheat,” he points out. “But being a champion is about doing things the right way, even when it would be easier not to.” That distinction between gamesmanship and character is where trust is built, and where long-term success takes root. In high-performing teams, the culture often mirrors that of the locker room. There's a shared commitment, a sense of personal responsibility, and an understanding that no one wins alone. Whether it's a quarterback investing in private coaching to stay competitive well into his 40s or a top-producing business executive building meaningful client relationships beyond the sales pitch, the edge comes from discipline, preparation, and a relentless work ethic. Bernstein often points to examples like Tom Brady—not because of his accolades, but because of the less visible effort that fueled them. While most people see the highlight reels, they don't see the nutritionists, neurologists, and sleep coaches behind the scenes. That level of commitment is what championship leadership requires: doing the work that others won't, without cutting corners, and without needing applause. In the business world, the lesson is the same. Top performers don't simply show up when it's convenient. They stay ahead by consistently executing the fundamentals. They invest in their teams. They show up with curiosity and ask questions. They visit their clients' operations in person. And perhaps most importantly, they build relationships that aren't transactional—they're built on trust and value. For leaders aiming to build stronger cultures, Bernstein encourages shifting the mindset from hiring the “best” people to hiring the right people. He recalls how legendary coach Pat Summitt built her championship legacy not by recruiting the top-ranked players, but by finding those who shared her values, work ethic, and team-first mentality. It's a powerful reminder that championship leadership begins with alignment—not just with skills, but with culture, attitude, and mission. Trust, according to Bernstein, isn't given. It's earned through behavior, consistency, and shared experience. It also requires a willingness to teach, not just manage. He recalls how Summitt saw herself more as a teacher than a coach—a subtle but powerful shift that cultivated loyalty, performance, and team cohesion. The idea that “will beats skill” echoes throughout Bernstein's work. While some athletes are born with undeniable gifts, most reach the top through effort, sacrifice, and resilience. It's the same for business leaders. Talent might open the door, but championship leadership is what keeps it open—and expands the path for others. Ultimately, leadership isn't about being the loudest voice in the room or the name at the top of the org chart. It's about showing up every day, doing the work, and holding yourself to a higher standard. Bernstein's insights serve as a reminder that greatness leaves clues—and that those clues are often hidden in plain sight. Watch the full episode on YouTube. The NHL has a long history of players who have made their mark as open-ice hitters, perhaps none who delivered more punishment than Scott Stevens. The 2007 Hall of Fame inductee joins Neil and Vic to talk playing style, leadership and captaincy and winning three Stanley Cups in New Jersey under three different head coaches.IN THIS EPISODE:[01:44] - Neil opens about one of his pet peeves: a player having to answer for delivering a big hit. As Stevens shares, it's a far cry from when he played.[04:06] - Neil takes Scott back to his days as a Ranger...a Kitchener Ranger, where he had his number 3 retired. That number followed him to Washington, then changed when he went to St. Louis and, later, New Jersey.[06:07] - First NHL Game, October 6, 1982.[06:54] - Highly emotional in his early years in the NHL, Stevens shares his turning point took where learned he could maintain his intensity and keep his emotions more in check.[09:34] - Scott's mentors upon his arrival in Washington in 1982.[11:09] - Captain's have varying leadership styles. For Stevens, it was always less about words and more about setting examples through action.[13:11] - After spending his first eight seasons in Washington, Stevens signed as a free agent in St. Louis in 1990 only to be awarded to New Jersey as compensation for the Blues signing Brendan Shanahan a year later.[15:08] - The acclimation to new teammates in New Jersey and assuming the Devils captaincy in his second season with the team.[16:46] - Neil explains the Group I/Group II free agency in that era which left Stevens future in the hands of an arbitrator. Scott also notes the emotions waiting for the decision to come down.[20:16] - As captain of the three New Jersey Cup winners in 1995, 2000 and 2003, was the best Devils team ever one that did not capture a title?[22:19] - The first Cup in 1995 following a half-season lockout.[24:37] - Stevens comments on the three different head coaches behind the bench for those Stanley Cup wins.[30:31] - In each of those championship seasons, a signature hit was delivered to players with their heads down. According to Stevens, it was that physical play which helped the other parts of his game.[31:55] - Considering the ferocity of Stevens open-ice hits, the number of elbowing penalties he incurred in a 22-season career might surprise you.[34:03] - A little comic relief.[35:55] - The first-ever Devil to have his number retired.[37:25] - Neil wraps up the interview revealing to Scott that they actually had a common defense partner at different points in their careers.[39:47] - Closing words on the Scott Stevens interview.X: https://twitter.com/NHLWraparoundNeil Smith: https://twitter.com/NYCNeilVic Morren: https://www.linkedin.com/in/vic-morren-7038737/NHL Wraparound Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/nhlwraparound/#NHLWraparound #ShortShifts #NYCentric #StanleyCupdate #NeilSmith #VicMorren #NHL #CelebritySeries #HallofFameEdition #ScottStevens #WashingtonCapitals #St.LouisBlues #NewJerseyDevils #EddieShore #RedHorner #BillBarilko #LeoBoivin #JacobTrouba #ConnorBedard #NickFoligno #BrendanSmith #KitchenerRangers #KenDaneyko #MylesO'Connor #LouLamoriello #BobbyOrr #AlMacInnis #EdMio #BryanMurray #SteveYzerman #RodLangway #BrianEngblom #CraigLaughlin #DougJarvis #MikeGartner #BruceDriver #BrendanShanahan #CurtisJoseph #RodBrind'Amour #DavidPoile #AdamGraves #JasonArnott #DetroitRedWings #DallasStars #AnaheimDucks #MarkMessier #JacquesLemaire #LarryRobinson #JacquesCaron #RobbieFtorek #PatBurns #BobbyCarpenter #SlavaKozlov #EricLindros #PaulKariya #TheThreeStooges #DaytonGems #DwightSchofield #WayneGretzky #BernieParent #RonFrancis #JimGregory #TorontoMapleLeafs

Welcome back to Wrestling Tonight, your weekly look at the stories shaping wrestling across WWE, AEW, TNA, NJPW, and beyond. Episode 144 arrives at a moment when legacies and momentum converge. WWE has confirmed John Cena against AJ Styles one final time at Crown Jewel in Perth, a meeting that feels less like a simple booking and more like the closing act of an era. Cena's farewell tour has been both celebratory and bittersweet, while Styles has spoken candidly about the end drawing near. This encounter is not about championships but about legacy, and about two icons crossing paths before the curtain falls. In Japan, IYO SKY returns home to face Mayu Iwatani at Marigold's Dream Destiny on October 26. The match is more than a dream pairing. It is a homecoming steeped in personal history and shared rivalries, a moment charged with emotion that underscores just how deeply both women have shaped modern wrestling. TNA continues to walk the line between revival and uncertainty. The Beautiful People's induction into the Hall of Fame at Bound for Glory honors the company's past influence, yet the ongoing Masha Slamovich investigation casts an undeniable shadow. The crossover with NXT has brought fresh attention, but it also raises questions of dependency, leaving many to wonder if TNA's momentum is truly its own or if it remains tied to WWE's spotlight. AEW has finally introduced Women's Tag Team Championships, a long requested step forward for the division. Eddie Kingston's return to the independent scene adds another chapter to his career, while Jazwares extending its partnership through 2026 offers stability for AEW's collectors and branding. Yet the company has also been at the center of renewed debate. Gail Kim's recent remarks about Riho's presentation during AEW's early days drew criticism, while Kenny Omega defended her, pointing to production struggles in AEW's infancy and the rich tradition of smaller joshi wrestlers headlining major events in Japan. The exchange has reignited a wider conversation about how Japanese women's wrestling is understood and respected in the United States. The aftermath of TNA Victory Road and NXT No Mercy continues to ripple. Ricky Saints stunned the wrestling world by ending Oba Femi's dominant reign, Tiffany Stratton weathered controversy to secure a match with Stephanie Vaquer at Crown Jewel, and Je'Von Evans once again stood out as a rising star even as his story became entangled with Josh Briggs. Championships have changed hands, rivalries have reignited, and the path to Bound for Glory is marked by both opportunity and instability. Episode 144 is about moments that appear to be turning points but could just as easily prove to be fault lines. Cena and Styles are closing a rivalry that defined an era, SKY and Iwatani are giving Marigold a showcase that will resonate for years, TNA is testing whether it can sustain true independence, and AEW continues to grow while navigating questions of stability in both its booking and its presentation of women's wrestling. This week reminds us that momentum can be borrowed, but legacy must be earned, and that the matches which endure are remembered not only for the victories but for what they represent when the lights fade. If you enjoy what we do at the Tavern, consider supporting us directly at patreon.com/theturnbuckletavern. Every contribution helps us keep the lights on, strengthen the community, and bring you more of the wrestling coverage you value.

On this episode of RNT Fitness Radio, I'm joined by Sumit Pal, who in the last 12 months at RNT has absolutely crushed it with his health, fitness, and overall lifestyle change. Sumit is over 20 kilos down now. One of his drivers when he first started was to have the energy and vitality to be at his absolute best as a dad and to help instil long-term lifestyle habits with the family. He's not only accomplished those two, he's also hit his third goal which was to improve his performance on the cricket pitch. As a recreational cricketer, he's gone from playing in the over 40s to now knocking it about with the 20 year olds. Sumit travels for work pretty much every 2-4 weeks to the States and all over, so despite changing time zones and constantly different environments, he's managed to stay on track and absolutely nailed the process. This is a great example of what happens when you go all in on your transformation. RUNDOWN (352) is Gainesville, Florida — home of the University of Florida. They reflect on Petty's legendary catalog, from “American Girl” to “Free Fallin',” his Beatles-inspired path to music, and his legacy in Gators football culture. Mitch and Hotshot recap the Seahawks' nail-biting win in Glendale, where a late Jason Meyers field goal sealed the victory to move Seattle to 3–1. They turn to the Huskies' tough loss against Ohio State, noting costly penalties and red-zone failures that made the final score more lopsided than the game felt. The Mariners closed the regular season with a sweep at the hands of the Dodgers but secured the No. 2 seed at 90–72. Joe Doyle and Brady Farkas join Mitch to debate whether the late skid matters, the state of the bullpen (Bazardo vs. Brash in high-leverage spots, Munoz's control issues), and the playoff rotation order. They also spar over Cal Raleigh's MVP case against Aaron Judge and whether Seattle should prefer Cleveland or Detroit in the ALDS. The Seahawks dominated for three quarters in Arizona before letting the Cardinals storm back with 17 unanswered points, needing Jason Myers' last-second field goal to escape with a win. The No-Table crew weighs Sam Darnold's poise, Mike Macdonald's conservative late-game decisions, the defense's lapses, and the ongoing questions with the run game and offensive line. Mitch welcomes CBS Sports' Rick Neuheisel, presented by Taco Time Northwest, for his weekly whip-around of the college football world. They break down Washington's missed opportunities against Ohio State, Alabama's statement win at Georgia, and why depth in the trenches separates contenders from pretenders. Rick also weighs in on Penn State's playoff chances, Miami–Florida State as a marquee matchup, and hands out his Chicken Caesar Taco awards before making his Week 6 pick.
