We've been here before, that is to say it's November and Everton are in turmoil.Bill 'Jack Frost meets Harvey Dent' Kenwright seems up for the challenge of saving the club from Peter Johnson's wreckage, but he'll have to wait another three months to see an Everton goal at the Street end, natch. It's not just low scoring though, it's also fast kicking, mainly by Olivier Dacourt and Marco Materazzi on opposition players' shins. There's apologies for John Hartson and Gary Pallister, as well as a lifetime of gratitude to Kevin Joseph Campbell, who makes his debut in April and finishes in May as the team's top scorer.Remember, SOBs: Bad Everton good anything else. This week's BWN was a special one for a few reasons. It marked the first time the show was broadcast live on X and YouTube, sure. But it also saw the long-awaited official debut of the X-Men in the MCU. The latest trailer for Avengers: Doomsday featured familiar characters, including Professor X, Magneto, and Cyclops. The guys break it all down for you, as well as some other big trailers for titles like Unreal Season 2, They Will Kill You, and an interesting UAP/UFO documentary, Starman (no....not a remake of the 1984 sci-fi classic). Meanwhile, the saga with WB, Paramount, and Netflix rolls onward as WB rejected an 8th attempt from Paramount for a hostile buyout, and a very prominent director drew a line in the sand against Netflix. Is Rey finally ready to admit that a stand-alone Blade movie is dead? Are you ready for AI to help get you through your favorite PlayStation games when you get stuck? Nol-vember continues this week on We Drink & We Watch Things as we charge headlong into what is maybe the greatest superhero film ever made: The Dark Knight (2008). Forget the cape and cowl - this is a sprawling, high-stakes crime epic that pits the fragile notion of order against the pure, terrifying force of chaos. Grab a drink and prepare to discuss a film that still defines cinematic villainy. This week, we are dissecting Heath Ledger's legendary, Oscar-winning performance as the Joker, who isn't interested in money or power, but in proving that all of society's rules are meaningless. We'll be talking about the film's philosophical backbone, exploring the tragic fall of Harvey Dent, and debating whether Batman's moral line—that he "won't kill"—is a strength or a dangerous liability when facing a truly limitless enemy. It's a discussion about necessary lies, the burden of heroism, and the ultimate sacrifice required to save Gotham's soul.If you love deeply layered crime thrillers, philosophical debates masked as superhero movies, or just want to appreciate the absolute brilliance of a film that transcends its genre, this is the episode you've been waiting for. We're blending our analysis of its narrative depth with our usual casual banter, making this an essential chapter in our month dedicated to Christopher Nolan. This episode VIDEO is live on YouTube AND Spotify!Follow us on Instagram and TikTok to get ep sneak peaks and find out what's coming next. Actually, the audio was first recorded in 2015 for the first version of Bailey's Batman Podcast and then Mike did what Mike usually does and sat on that audio for two years when he finally released the episodes on Views From The Longbox. Whatever the case, this is the first of a two part look at the Year One annuals from 1995. Well, those and an annual from 1990. This whole thing was all over the place. Anyway, in this first part the guys look at Batman Annual #14 from 1990, which featured the Post Crisis origin of Harvey Dent...Two-Face! Then they jump to 1995 and talk about Batman Annual #19, which has the origin of Scarecrow. These are deep dives into the thoughts Andy and Mike have about these characters complete with some tangents that are kind of fun. Andy and Mike want your feedback on this episode so they can read it on an upcoming show! You even have options in how you leave your feedback. The most direct way is to leave a comment right here on the site. You can also send all questions, concerns, fears and trepidations to overlookeddarkknight@gmail.com. Then there's the Facebook page, where you can also leave a Batman related question for Andy and Mike to answer at the beginning of the show. If you talk about this show on the social medias please include a #overlookeddk so the guys know where to find it. The opening theme for the show is Superhero Intro by Stringer Bell and taken from the royalty free site Pixma Bay. Next Time: Andy and Mike present the second part of a classic conversation about the Year One annuals from 1995.
Liam and Cal continue their trek through the spookiest month of the year with another Caped Crusader review! This week, they look at a new version of DC's Gentleman Ghost and discuss the "reverse Robin Hood" persona given to the villain. They also look at the deepening of Batman's relationship with Alfred, a surprising DC/Vertigo character appearance, a unique visual style in a flashback sequence, Harvey Dent's descent, & much more! All this, plus their scores and ratings for the plot, visuals, music and voice acting await you on this episode of the DCAU Review! Please Consider Supporting the Podcast:Become a monthly or one time supporter of the pod at https://buymeacoffee.com/DCAUReviewSubscribe to the pod on Spotify or Apple Podcasts and please consider leaving us a 5-star reviewSubscribe to our new YouTube Channel Support the pod by picking up some merch at our shop https://dcaureview.myspreadshop.comFollow us: Twitter/X @DCAUReview Instagram @DCAUReview

President Trump recently shared a conspiracy theory that grew out of Q-Anon: Joe Biden was executed in 2020 and replaced by a “soulless, mindless” clone, or actually multiple clones. As the NY Post reported, he did not comment on the conspiracy but instead only shared a Truth Social post from a person with virtually no followers. The post read: “There is no #JoeBiden – executed in 2020. #Biden clones doubles & robotic engineered soulless mindless entities are what you see. >#Democrats don't know the difference.” The popularity of this feeds directly into the ChatGPT prophets, following Q, who believe they have unlocked the secret codes of the universe. Call it sarcasm or trolling, but the fact is that such a post goes a long way to discrediting the entirety of MAGA, i.e., anybody pro-American. Despite this, it is true that the Biden administration did build a fake Oval Office, a set with fake windows and a digital view of the Rose Garden, and they also staged a town hall in 2024 with a friendly audience in order to get clear video of the president “speaking sharply and fluidly in a freewheeling setting.” Perhaps the conspiracy arose from these facts, in the same way that questions about viruses causing distinct diseases devolved into ‘viruses are not real'. Or, perhaps with these facts out in the open it was necessary to associate such undeniable facts with outrageously false narratives about assassinations and clones. Or, maybe it's something else. And if it's all a big troll, why are our leaders wasting time telling jokes that only a couple people find funny. Kash Patel as FBI Director and Dan Bongino acting as Deputy Director both agree that Epstein died by suicide, a reversal of previous claims made by both men. Pam Bondi, AG, has lied repeatedly about releasing the Epstein files. Trump has agreements on Stargate, Palantir, the HHS-NIH next-gen universal vaccine platform, not to mention operation Warp Speed, and is secretly working with Canary Mission and Project Esther to undermine the First Amendment. Now the one man who many felt could get things done, RFK Jr., along with his Make America Healthy Again Commission, has been caught producing a major first-of-its-kind report with flawed or nonexistent references. As one article reported, it was actually written in part by AI. And we know for certain it was written using AI, because telltale “tags” remain in a number of URLs cited in the footnotes—so-called “oaicites,” which references generated by Open AI always contain. Dr. Ivan Oransky, a journalism professor at New York University who runs Retraction Watch, a website that tracks fraud and errors in medical publishing, also said the nature of the discrepancies seems to indicate that they were generated by artificial intelligence. The question of what is real or fake extends beyond the Internet, and right into the heart of everyday life. All of the above works to discredit legitimate conspiracies, threats to liberty, and exposure of the real cause of America's declining health, including drugs, chemicals, stress, and diet. ‘You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain', says Harvey Dent in an iconic line from the Dark Knight. Now the President of exposing fake news has bought into sharing fake news. Trump's Biden Truth Social post follows another post with a black and white image of himself and a caption that reads: “He's on a mission from God & nothing can stop what is coming.” In the background is Pepe the frog; conveniently when the Pepe Coin is back in the news and climbing. But such talk once again reeks of Q-Anon: wait and see, trust the plan, nobody can stop the storm. Trump posted something similar last year, too, along with the slogan WWG1WGA. It seems evident by his actions, and the actions of those around him, that if there was anything “real” about the MAGA movement, it has now been compromised, threatened, bought off, and sold out completely. It's almost as if the same intelligence apparatus behind Q is itself running his social media account, a likely reality considering Trump's recent agreement with Palantir; just as Biden had handlers running his entire administration, not just X - by handlers, we mean a literal politburo. And just like Stalin's government removed people from photographs, including high level members of the party, the Democrat party, along with Trump promoting conspiracies that Biden was executed, is facilitating a sort of changing of history too: Biden is being eliminated from the record - he died, fake sets, fake town halls, pumped full of drugs, has dementia, had no power to run again, only used autopen, etc. The same thing is happening with the MAHA report, as the 522 references contained many studies, government documents, and articles that “were wrong or don't appear to exist.” Whether they were deleted, or headlines were changed, or researchers wanted no association with MAHA, the result is that few will ever believe, even with an updated report, that poor diet, lack of exercise, stress, overprescribing of drugs and exposure to environmental chemicals cause our poor health. *The is the FREE archive, which includes advertisements. Send us a message! Really! This week on the Get More Smarter Podcast, new polling shows Americans are already sick of Trump 2.0; will shutting down FiveThirtyEight so nobody can get a good polling average help or hurt the 45th and 47th president and his flagging ratings? The White House is controlled by Republicans. The senate is controlled by Republicans. The House of Representatives is controlled by Republicans. The New York Times asks, 'Why won't Democrats stop the government shutdown?' Next, there is some real pain in store for the constituents of our favorite bread sandwich from Colorado's 3rd congressional district; will Rep. Jeff Hurd stand with the tens of thousands of people in his district who have healthcare because of Medicaid expansion, or will he side with Elon Musk and Donald Trump to kick them off their insurance and doom their rural hospitals to bankruptcy? Finally we check in with the most anti-family political party in the country, the Colorado GOP. But first...he was the first officially announced candidate for Colorado Attorney General! He's also the Boulder County District Attorney, and a former deli worker otherwise known as Colorado's Harvey Dent (but with just the one face). Michael Dougherty joins us to talk about his campaign to be the state's top cop in 2026.

Christian talks about his excitement over this series and to be working with artist Fábio Veras, colourist Ivan Plascencia, and letterer Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou. Christian takes Harvey back to the courtroom and after seeing what Christian can do in Gotham (See Batman: City of Madness), there's a lot of excitement for this series. Plus, Jimmy shouts out one of his favorite series Machine Gun Wizards, which Christian wrote with artist Sami Kivela. Christian's website Two-Face From the publisher HARVEY DENT'S GREATEST TRIAL BEGINS! After years of internal con?ict, both halves of Harvey Dent have reached an uneasy peace. Now Harvey will use his skills as an attorney to resolve the con?icts of Gotham's weirdest and most dangerous criminals, starting with Victor Zsasz. When Zsasz is accused of murdering a fellow member of Gotham's underworld contingent, who better to prove a criminal's innocence than someone who's been on both sides of the law? Batman: City of Madness From the publisher Buried deep beneath Gotham City there exists another Gotham. This Gotham Below is a living nightmare, populated by twisted mirrors of our Gotham's denizens, fueled by the fear and hatred flowing down from above. For decades, the doorway between the cities has been sealed and heavily guarded by the Court of Owls. But now the door swings wide, and the twisted version of the Dark Knight has escaped…to trap and train a Robin of his own. Batman must form an uneasy alliance with the Court and its deadly allies to stop him—and to hold back the wave of twisted super-villains, nightmarish versions of his own nemeses, each one worse than the last, that's spilling into his streets! Visionary writer-artist Christian Ward unleashes a cosmic-horror take on Batman's world, and readers will never look at Batman's villains the same way again. [Digital Gonzo 2012] NOTE: This is a reissued episode from over 12 years ago. Please forgive the lower production values and boneheaded things I say. Part two of Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy. Following the powerful set-up of Batman Begins, the production team pulled out all the stops to deliver an epic crime thriller in the style of Michael Mann's Heat. This is a story of a city in turmoil and a police force struggling to keep order, up against the ruthless mob. At the center are Batman and The Joker, forces of nature representing order and chaos. The only hope for Gotham may in fact be the White Knight, district attorney Harvey Dent. But you all know this, because everybody and his dog saw this movie back in 2008. I just wanted to set the scene a little. Much is discussed, especially Heath Ledger's extraordinary performance, but not forgetting the brilliant turns from Aaron Eckhart and Maggie Gyllenhaal and the possible career-high score from Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard. Following the events of Matt Reeves' The Batman (2022), Oz Cobb, aka The Penguin, makes a play to seize the reins of the crime world in Gotham. But first, the guys discuss fast food and The Great Chicken Sandwich Wars of 2020. Will eating McDonald's kill you? How do we feel about the character performances in this episode? How do you pronounce Marone and Falcone? What Batman comics does this series draw from? Was Sofia Falcone "yassified"? Do we like how Batman villains are adapted in this universe? Is HBO bussin? Did we feel bad for Penguin at any point in this series? Did Colin Farrell sound like a human penguin? What other Batman villains did we think were hinted at throughout the series? Is The Court of Owls coming to this Batman universe? Do we like that Batman didn't show up at all in this series? Did the relationship between Oz and Vic feel like a dark, twisted Batman and Robin? What is Colin Farrell's favorite movie? Why does Jake hate Back to the Future? What movies would be in our Letterboxd Top 4? Why didn't Vic fight back at the end? Does Penguin have off-the-charts scumbag luck? Would we want to see a Catwoman/Sofia Falcone team-up series called Sisterhood of the Traveling Falcones? Do we want a season 2 of The Penguin? Should this remain a stand-alone Batman universe and not connect to James Gunn's DC projects? Do we want Robin to appear in this universe? Will Mr. Freeze and Harvey Dent show up in The Batman 2? If you're gong to build a movement, you're going to need your radicals. Like Batman taking the fall for Harvey Dent, these radicals can be the bad guys, acting as scapegoats by preaching uncomfortable truths and pushing the Overton window to provide cover for pastors, politicians, and leaders who run the risk of reprisal from their institutions. If we are going to win we can't afford to be idealists OR compromisers - we are going to have to be shrewd and calculating. Accolades go to Gothamites for not blowing up the people on the other boat, Rachel Dawes and Harvey Dent's flirty workplace romance, and the Joker for being the master of pop culture references. Meanwhile, the guys debate whether Dent claiming to be Batman was a good plan or the ultimate backfire, and call out the Caped Crusader for spying on the entire city. So “apply your own bloody sun tan lotion,” and be the hero Gotham needs.Listen to Six Trophies on the Wondery App or wherever you get your podcasts.
