Lecrae found favor in hip hop the most unfavorable way by incorporating faith into his music which led to him being labeled a gospel rapper but instead LeCrae's mission was to make a positive impact and “to bring peace to people”. Fast forward to today, Lecrae is a multi-Grammy award winner, platinum artist, best-selling author and serial entrepreneur. On Episode #32 of ITV we talk to Lacrae about why he had to lose his religion to find his faith and how that faith has made him spiritually and monetarily successful. "What, is heaven just another ghetto then?" Baldwin asks. With this episode, as with "His Stripes and Our Stripes," I don't at all intend to minimize suffering or support the continuing subordination of oppressed groups. Rather, my hope is that this podcast will help you to see that 1) nonviolence is not passive, but active, 2) living one's true self, like the perfect human Jesus Christ, is actually freeing, and 3) our call to Christian living is grounded in the hope of Jesus, not in circumstances, and therefore it is objective and permanent, not fickle and shifting: https://www.amazon.com/Live-Not-Lies-Christian-Dissidents/dp/0593087399/ref=tmm_hrd_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=1612546493&sr=8-1 Baucham sermon (I couldn't find the sermon link, but will have his quote at the bottom): My Post "Is the Gospel Enough?": https://www.dckreider.com/blog-theological-musings/is-the-gospel-enough Bearing Our Crosses: https://www.dckreider.com/blog-theological-musings/bearing-our-crosses The Heavenly Multitude: https://www.dckreider.com/blog-theological-musings/the-heavenly-multitude Economic Pornography and Pet Sins: https://www.dckreider.com/blog-theological-musings/economic-pornography-and-pet-sins Western Wealth Through the Bible's Eyes: https://www.dckreider.com/blog-theological-musings/western-wealth-through-the-bibles-eyes The Comfortable, White Evangelical: https://www.dckreider.com/blog-theological-musings/the-comfortable-white-evangelical CT Article: https://www.christianitytoday.com/edstetzer/2020/june/reflections-from-christian-scholar-on-social-justice-critic.html NT Wright The Day The Revolution Began: https://www.amazon.com/Day-Revolution-Began-Reconsidering-Crucifixion/dp/0062334395/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=The+Day+the+Revolution+Began&qid=1606930592&sr=8-1 One Orthodox thought on politics at 30 minute mark: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YDuXFLJkDt0&feature=youtu.be Reading While Black: https://www.amazon.com/Reading-While-Black-American-Interpretation/dp/083085486X/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=reading+while+black&qid=1606930574&sr=8-1 Icons of Christ: https://www.amazon.com/Icons-Christ-Biblical-Systematic-Ordination/dp/1481313185/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=icons+of+christ&qid=1606930619&sr=8-1CRT Legislation Episode Voddie Baucham Quote: It is so disheartening to see so many pastors and Christians losetheir religion and exchange it for Social Justice. Pastors marchingwith protestors who are members of BLM and marching with Christiansfor Social Justice. But then again, it is not that surprising when weunderstand that the Bible warns us that many will be seduced by falseteaching and godless ideologies. The Bible is no longer the standardfor many Christians. Social Justice is now the new standard.Christians and pastors are marching and protesting the murder ofGeorge Floyd hand in hand with god-haters? Christians and Pastors, who have Bibles are doing this. Why? Do they really care aboutjustice? Or have they bought into the false narrative that is beingpushed by Social Justice Warriors who place people into groups of theoppressors and the oppressed? The Social Justice Movement's answer for sin is redistribution ofpower and wealth. That is why you hear Christian's like Lecrae whosuggest that the solution to sin is the redistribution of power. If weget more black people into positions of power then we can stop racism.Lacrae has just abandoned Biblical Christianity and adopted SocialJustice as the answer for sin. But Lecrae is not the only one doingthis. Countless Christians and Pastors are teaching that the answerto racism is redistribution of power. By the way there is not suchthing as racism. The Bible calls it for what it is, hatred. Justiceis never accomplished by the redistribution of power. Black peoplehave extremely wicked hearts. So to replace a white person withextremely wicked hearts with black person who has the same extremelywicked heart will not fix the sin problem. The same goes for Asiansand Hispanics and all human beings. Humans have extremely wickedhearts,The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: whocan know it? (Jeremiah 17:9)The answer to injustice, murder, crime, etc., is not rioting, protesting, redistribution of power and wealth, or anything else thatsinful man can come up with. God provided the answer in the Personand work of Jesus Christ. The Gospel is the cure for sin. Did theApostle Paul call for protests when Nero persecuted and oppressed theminority culture of the Roman Empire which happened to be Christians?Did the Christians protest the unjust murder of Peter and Paul? Orthe thousands of other Christians who were murdered by Rome? But whathappened when persecution came to them? They went out preaching theGospel. Paul even preached to prison guards who were converted. But we live in a different society than that of the Roman Empire. Sowe can and should fight for more just laws and practices. And as ofthis very day, I am personally unaware of any unjust laws on the booksthat are targeting minorities. Why? Because Christians in the pastchallenged those unjust laws and put an end to them. President Trumprecently signed a prison reform act to correct some of the problemswith our penal system. And there is nothing wrong with fighting forLaw Enforcement reform acts that might address some issues as well. But, if you think that is going to stop racism, police brutality, violence, and injustice you are greatly mistaken. More cops will killunarmed black and white men, more blacks will murder other blacks, more whites will murder other whites, more children will be sold intosex trafficking, more women will be raped, more husbands will beattheir wives, and yes, even more wives will physically abuse theirhusbands, more men and women will commit sexual sin, and a higherpercentage of black babies will continue to be murdered in the womb. Many pastors and Christians have lost their way. They are jumping onthe Social Justice bandwagon without and regard as to what the goal ofSocial Justice really is. It is seeking to address sins andgrievances through a godless, anti-God, anti-Biblical worldview. AndChristian Denominations and Organizations like T4G, TGC, ERLC, SBC,9Marks, and SBTS are jumping on this bandwagon and leading manypastors and churches astray. The Gospel is of First Importance. But sadly, those who use this astheir slogan, have traded it in for Social Justice. ★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★

In 1965, Harry Belafonte said that Mahalia Jackson was "the single most powerful Black woman in the United States.” She could channel God’s power, transform a room, soften the hardest hearts, move the masses, and light fire to the faithful. That’s power. We are the #daughtersof Mahalia Jackson...and her voice rang louder than bullets and billy clubs. Crystal clear. Equal parts lullaby and lightsaber. Mahalia Jackson was our moral high ground - a spiritual portal. A “beam me up” before Star Trek had a name. She mastered the ability to take us to a Rock that was higher. She rode a praise - in primordial tongues - through halls of injustice, and confused our cross-burning enemies. Singing “I'm gonna lay down my burden, down by the riverside.” Singing, “I ain't a-gonna study war no more.” Singing, “Soon it will be done. Trouble of the world.” Singing “Elijah Rock, shout, shout, shout. Elijah Rock comin' up, Lord.” Singing, "How I made it over,” and “You must be born again.” Bearing the very souls of Black folks. Teaching us. Healing us. Actual pain medicine. Soothing the saints and the sinners alike. Reminding us all of our divine connection and of a transformational power that is bigger than fear. “I think fear is a sin,” she said. “And I can’t live in fear.”If you are wavering today. Walk with us. If the evidence of your life - your job, your health, your mind, your money, your man - is overwhelming your faith, walk with us. Listen to the clarion voice that mobilized our mothers and resolved our father’s fears. Black people have practices. We have methods, potions, and powers that connect us to Light in the darkest of times. We need those now. Keep the faith. Grab your sneakers. And come sing with us…Today, we walk in total agreement - as our foremothers walked before us in the Montgomery Bus Boycotts - for the total liberation of Black people everywhere. The slogan fueling the Black Lives Matter movement, "DEFUND THE POLICE" is making white people uneasy and they have some suggestions on how to change the wording to a more appeasing tune. Along with those Karen's, Pastor Louie Giglio in Atlanta, GA had a good discussion with Christian rapper, Lacrae and CEO of Chik-fil-a, Dan Cathy; about Christianity, the police and the Black Lives Matter movement's goals. All seemed well until he suggested we stop referring to "White Privilege" as "White Blessings." Patchwerk Recording Studios Presents The IdOMUSIC Podcast... 2x Grammy Award Winning producer Street Symphony stops by this week to discuss his Memphis ties, why he calls himself a rapper's producer, how educating others defines success; becoming a professor at MTSU; evolving his sound from working with Lacrae and Reach Records with gospel & christian music to artist like 2 Chainz, Yo Gotti and more.
Gospel music has come to encompass everything from the Five Blind Boys of Alabama, Shirley Ceasar, Commissioned and Lacrae. R&B artists have touted roots in gospel music and maintained varying degrees of involvement with gospel over the course of their careers. Gospel has seemed to splinter into sub genres like much of the music industry. Praise and worship, urban, traditional and contemporary have come to define different types of gospel music. This we want to talk to Dawn Miller and Chris Wesley of Undignified Praise about how they see gospel music in today’s musical landscape and how gospel will maintain its integrity. https://www.facebook.com/dawn.miller.3538 https://www.facebook.com/UDPraise https://www.facebook.com/PreachPastorChris Follow us on Twitter: twitter.com/PsychoFellas Follow us on Instagram: www.instagram.com/psychomusiclyricology/ Like us on FB: www.facebook.com/psychomusiclyricology/ Contact: psychomusiclyricology@gmail.com (469) 606-9534
In any cultural movement there are leaders and there are followers. But most importantly, there are those uniquely innovative provocateurs that take the familiar, turn it upside down, and burn it with new creative fire. Like a b-boy mad scientist smashing the windows of the mainstream with a Molotov cocktail of passion and inspiration, Hyro The Hero takes the fusion of rap and rock and resurrects it. His combustible concoction is one part The Clash, one part Bad Brains, and several doses of reverence for hip-hop relevance. It’s the most punk rock rap and the most hip-hop punk. The mash-up of rock and rap was pioneered by groups like Run DMC and the Beastie Boys, then fashioned into groundbreaking socio-political firebombs by Rage Against The Machine, before it was co-opted, watered down, and worn out by a slew of no-talent copycats with nothing to say. Hyro was embraced early on by Deftones, Wu-Tang Clan, and the Vans Warped Tour alike, earning accolades in tastemaker publications like Kerrang! and airplay on BBC Radio 1, becoming the first artist to ever play three stages at Download Festival UK in the same year, and inspiring a new generation of heavy music enthusiasts and hip-hop heads in equal measure. On brand new tracks like “Bullet,” “We Ain’t Afraid,” “Never Back Down,” and “Devil in Disguise,” from the long-awaited full-length follow-up to his 2011 debut album, Hyro puts forth his true lyrical credibility and hip-hop urgency on top of aggressive, uplifting, and powerfully driven punk n’ roll. Hyro hails from the same Southern stomping grounds as legends, instantly identifiable rhyme slingers, and modern trailblazers like Paul Wall, Lacrae and streetwise icon Scarface. He earned his stripes on the streets of Houston, dropping his first mixtape on Christmas Eve 2007 before heading to California on a quest to realize his artistic ambitions to the fullest extent. His Gangsta Rock, Rock & Roll Gangsta, and Belo Horizonte mixtapes paved the way for what would be a barnstorming debut album that shook the world through social media transmissions, evocative live performances, and a mountain of praise from outlets like Rock Sound, AltPress, Metal Hammer, and Kerrang!, who nominated him as Best International Newcomer. Birth, School, Work, Death was produced by nü-metal co-creator Ross Robinson (Slipknot, Korn, Glassjaw), with instrumental contributions from members of frequent Robinson collaborators At The Drive-In and The Blood Brothers. Kerrang! hailed Hy

Soteriology 101: Former Calvinistic Professor discusses Doctrines of Salvation
I saw this argument posed by a Christian in a debate with an Atheist recently and it reminded me of an important point. We should always be willing to objectively and honestly ask the question, “What if I’m wrong?” What are the practical, real world consequences if what I believe, teach and practice is in error? When it comes to the soteriological differences between the Calvinist and the Traditionalist, like myself, this question is especially pertinent. If non-Calvinists are wrong, what temporal or eternal harm have we really caused? As I have said before, we are either rightly standing in defense of God’s glory or God has sovereignly determined for us to be wrong for the praise of His glory. If I am mistaken, no fewer people are going to heaven, no less glory will be given to God than what He decided and nothing I do will ultimately harm or hinder the desire of God for this temporal world or the eternal one to come. I literally have nothing practical to gain by converting to Calvinism. And I know if the claims of Calvinists are true and God wants me to become one, then I certainly will. In fact, I sincerely pray He converts me to adopt sound theology. I have no desire to teach false interpretations of scripture as I believe I did for many years, so I can honestly say I am open to correction. I wonder how many Calvinists have objectively evaluated this question. I am not trying to aggravate my Calvinistic friends anymore so than Lacrae is trying to agitate Athesists by asking them to objectively consider the consequences if they are in error. Let’s list some of the negative temporal and eternal effects that Calvinism has had if indeed it is wrong: Countless church splits. Much time, resources and energy wasted over the issue. Hyper anti-evangelism by some who take the view to their logical ends. Some repulsed by a seemingly monsterous view of God. Some falling into fatalistic handling of temptations and addictions (if God wants me to quit this addiction or resist this temptation He will give me the effectual grace to do so) God’s character of love, grace and genuinely providing salvation for every person being clouded and subverted. “Cage stage” Calvinists turning unbelievers off to God. Austin Fischer, author of Young, Restless and No Longer Reformed,” recently wrote, “It seems the primary concern for Calvinists is making sure human’s can’t boast in salvation, whereas the primary concern for free-will theism is a recognizably good God.” What are Calvinists really accomplishing by converting believers to adopt Calvinism? Practically speaking, if Calvinism is correct, the Calvinist’s arguments are not going to determine who will or will not adopt Calvinism anyway and if Calvinism is false, then a well intending Calvinists shouldn’t want to risk converting others to a false interpretation anyway. Thus, there is no practical reason for Calvinists to promote Calvinism. It’s not worth the risk. Objections anticipated: There are rude non-Calvinists who turn the lost off to God too: Agreed, but this article is considering IF one view is right and the other one is wrong, and if Calvinism is right it is not as if rude Arminians aren’t here by God’s sovereign design. Rude Arminians are not going to repulse the effectually called elect of Calvinism and prevent them from their inevitable conversion. Calvinists don’t teach hyperism or fatalism: Agreed, which is why I said that some could take it further than the claims of the system which would create worse error (which has happened throughout history). We should believe the truth of scripture regardless of your perceived negative implications: Agreed, but again, if Calvinism is correct then God sovereignly decreed for me to perceive these negative implications and to write this post. So, if we’re contrasting objectively then I am still doing what is best for God’s self glorifying purposes. You are an idiot: By God’s unchangeable decree and for His greatest glory? I am okay with that! ;-)
In this episode we will continue discussing the impact that secular music and the culture of Hip-Hop have had on Lecrae and other Christian Rap artists. I also discuss Lecrae’s comments about “walking in both worlds”. And Why Voddie Baucham Disagree s with him?
