In this episode of The 5G Factor, our series that focuses on all things across the 5G ecosystem, we review the recent key 5G-related moves made by players advancing 5G readiness consisting Arrcus landing $30 million in new investment including NVIDIA, T-Mobile launching the Partner Plus channel program at reducing 5G laptop and FWA price barriers, and Ericsson providing perspective on how mobile operators can make progress in offering differentiated connectivity. Our analytical review drilled down on: Arrcus Lands New Investors Spotlighting NVIDIA Relation. In July, Arrcus announced a significant new investment of $30 million from Prosperity7 Ventures, NVIDIA, Lightspeed, Hitachi Ventures, Liberty Global, Clear Ventures, and General Catalyst. Arrcus' routing and switching platform, Arrcus Connected Edge (or ACE), features a distributed microservices architecture that is flexible, high-performance, fully programmable, and hybrid cloud ready. We assess why Arrcus' ACE networking platform, using the NVIDIA BlueField DPU, can enable customers to efficiently offload, accelerate, and isolate compute-intensive networking applications such as security and traffic engineering. T-Mobile Focuses on Lowering 5G Laptop and FWA Barriers. T-Mobile announcing the launch of Partner Plus, a new channel subsidy program designed to reduce the initial cost of 5G laptops and enterprise-grade 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) equipment from Cradlepoint, part of Ericsson. We examine how T-Mobile's new program can help businesses overcome cost barriers, as it has teamed up with major global distributors Ingram Micro and TD SYNNEX alongside the Cradlepoint partnership. This collaboration can enable the immediate and convenient procurement of 5G capabilities, through 5G laptops and 5G FWA solutions, at attractive price points while fulfilling the topmost security concerns of businesses through key offerings such as T-Mobile Secure Access Service Edge, the SIM-based SASE solution that uses International Mobile Subscriber Identity and International Mobile Equipment Identity for clientless authentication. Ericsson Advocates Differentiated Connectivity. Ericsson shares its perspective on how communication service providers (CSPs) currently offer a buffet of dishes at a fixed price, but some dishes are eaten by most consumers while others are barely touched. Buffets usually mean a significant amount of food wastage. As a result, some customers experience disappointment due to the quality of food, while others consume, either more or less than what they have paid for. All in all, this is a ‘best effort' type of restaurant, offering too much at a satisfactory quality. We explore how things are changing as 5G networks enable CSPs to offer the possibility to launch bistro versions of the restaurant, providing a menu to consumers instead. The Ericsson Mobility Report (June 2024) indicates that 5G uptake has increased and that mobile data traffic has increased by 25 percent between 2023 and 2024 providing broader opportunity for CSPs to enable businesses and developers to offer guaranteed and secure mobile connectivity, centered around the value of service differentiation, to fulfill the unique needs of customers.

Andrew Cole, board member of Liberty Global and one of the original backers of GB News, talks to Omar Oakes about shaking up the status quo of TV measurement and trading.Cole's new venture, Digital Audience Data, seeks to get all major telecoms operators in advanced economies to jointly share data for a "more accurate" TV measurement system than legacy ones such as those operated by Barb and Kantar Media in the UK.He also talks about his track record working with Steve Jobs and Apple on the iPhone's launch and how his career has been built on "disrupting" legacy systems. And, amid rumours of GB News following in TalkTV's footsteps by going online only, Cole answers questions about the rationale for launching the channel in 2021 – a move that attracted calls for an advertiser boycott before it began programming.Further reading:UK telcos plot audience measurement and ad sales platformTelcos can transform the UK ad industry for the better---Thanks to our production partners Trisonic for editing this episode.--> Discover how Trisonic can elevate your brand and expand your business by connecting with your ideal audience---Visit The Media Leader for the most authoritative news analysis and comment on what's happening in commercial media. Watch the full video on Rumble at https://rumble.com/v3dlj9m-solving-the-puzzle-of-global-sex-trafficking-who-can-be-trusted-with-leigh-.html Leigh Dundas returns to the JSlayUSA program to discuss one of the most important topics of our times, the global sex trafficking trade. Who can we really trust to fight this war with integrity? Why are the globalist institutions like the UN not on our side? Leigh has extensive experience in this field, so Jeremy Slayden plans to ask her the hard questions that often go unanswered in this interview. Get Leigh's new book: https://sendfox.com/leighdundas Join WarriorMBS for Men: https://warriormbs.com Leigh Dundas is a veteran litigation attorney who spent a majority of the last two decades of counsel to international law firms. Beginning her career in the early 90's as litigation counsel at Irell & Manella, LLP, Leigh handled multi-million dollar cases for Fortune 500 clients including Volkswagen of America, Advanta Bank, and William Lyon Company, as well as high-profile work for government municipalities and sports teams including The St. Louis Rams and City of West Covina. While much of her work related to general business matters, Ms. Dundas also focused on litigation that involved hitech, environmental, and trade secret aspects. She continued this focus when she joined Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison in 2000 of counsel. Thereafter, Ms. Dundas was asked to join The A2 l Campaign in the dual capacity of General Counsel and Prosecutions Director for Asia. In that role, Leigh spent a significant amount of time on the ground in south-east Asia, liaising with foreign governments to reach bilateral Memoranda of Understanding allowing for operation of undercover surveillance of child brothels by former US law enforcement assets. While in Asia, Leigh also arranged meetings with high-ranking executives at major banking institutions - including heads of in-house counsel for some of the world's largest financial institutions - who remained concerned that Asian banking conglomerates were being used by human traffickers to launder cash from the illicit sex trade. In that capacity, Leigh worked closely with both NGOs and Asian banks in the formulation of a plan to have on-the-ground investigators amass evidence of money laundering by child brothels and then use secure protocols to relay said data to the banking institutions - as banks are required to place holds on accounts when there is credible evidence such accounts are being utilized to launder monetary proceeds of crimes. Currently, this evidence is being automatically relayed to over 7,000 banks worldwide - via Thomson Reuters WorldCheck and other premier providers of intelligence profiles - so that banks may perform due diligence checks and ensure trafficking proceeds are not being laundered through their accounts. In the last half-decade, Leigh's first-hand knowledge of the trafficking problems in southeast Asia- as well as her extensive network in the region - have proven invaluable to the U.S. government. In 2013, Leigh was appointed by the House Foreign Affairs Chairperson, Congressman Ed Royce, to the 113th Congressional Human Trafficking Congressional Advisory Committee, to assist in the identification of trafficking problems worldwide and help formulate US policy to combat same, and has performed similar work for the US Department of Homeland Security. In February 2014, Leigh spent three weeks in Sun Gai Kolok - a modern day Sodom & Gomorrah that is comprised of 140 child brothels on the Thai-Malay border - traveling in excess of 100 mph to avoid road-side insurgent bombers while en route to meet with sex slaves trapped in the brothels, and to interview the Mafia-connected brothel owners. Leigh then led a group of VIPs and film crew back into Sun Gai Kolok later that month to document first-hand the horrors of the child-sex trade, until Thailand's coup d'etat and threatened closure of the Bangkok International Airport forced a retreat. In early 2016, Ms. Dundas co-founded the American office of Liberty Global to work in tandem with her human rights non-profit, Justice Be Done, in continuing to forward the above initiatives.
In this episode of Money Tales, our guest is Hilary Blair. Hilary helps businesspeople get comfortable in the uncomfortable. She believes our society has shut down a lot of sharing within conversations and, as a result, we miss out on leadership opportunities by confusing confidence and comfort. Hilary observes that you can be confident if you accept the discomfort that might be involved. Tell your story, share your vulnerability and where you've made mistakes. This transparency, especially in money conversations, will allow you to tell your story, connect with others and, as Hilary says, own the awkward. Hilary is a keynote speaker, champion of human connection and the CEO of ARTiculate: Real&Clear. She is impassioned by moving beyond habits and learned behaviors to uncover what is unique and authentic in individuals and groups. A presentation and speaking voice expert, Hilary is a highly regarded coach and facilitator working extensively across the globe with a variety of businesses including Maersk, Liberty Global, Slalom and AWS. Whether working on leadership communication with members of the C-Suite, or facilitating workshops using improvisation to improve communication skills, Hilary's 35 plus years as a teacher combined with her professional stage, film and voice over career present a unique and essential skill set. She and the ARTiculate team partner with HR departments to co-create experiential learning events that activate individual presence and team effectiveness. Hilary is certified in Conversational Intelligence and CultureTalk. She is an active member of NSA and former board member of the Colorado Chapter. She is also a former board member of VASTA – the Voice and Speech Trainers Association. Hilary is on the faculty for the Denver Center for the Performing Arts and has been adjunct faculty for a number of universities. She has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, Buzzfeed and numerous podcasts. Hilary holds an MFA in acting from the National Theatre Conservatory and a BA from Yale University.

But her life was not what it appeared to be and, when her American family moved their wealth to the island of Jersey, she lost far more than her fortune. In this episode of the Making Bank podcast, we welcome guest Robert Overweg. Robert has over a decade of experience in innovation and digital transformation with clients like Vodafone, Liberty Global, eBay Heineken, and various other startups and innovative schools. He is also a frequent speaker at MIT, SXSW, and the European Commission institutes. Robert speaks about how we can use tech to work smarter and add value to the world. He's the founder of the adaptable mindset program. He and his team aim to empower people and help them develop their own adaptable mindset to develop mental flexibility and learn how to create a mental space allowing them to find new possibilities. This week on the podcast, Robert explains the adaptable mindset program and how you can use the adaptable mindset to eliminate stress and perform better in all aspects of your life. Listen to Josh and Stephen discuss the adaptable mindset:: (1:26) What Is The Adaptable Mindset There's a desire for change, innovation, experimentation, and trying out new things, but Robert noticed that there was a lack of openness and a lot of doubt instead. To bring about change and innovation, you need to be able to deal with the uncertainty and ambiguity the change brings. An adaptable mindset is the ability to find fresh perspectives and be open to new ideas. It's a mental space that allows people to connect their intrinsic motivation to what energizes them to create the proper foundation to be innovative. (4:10) Most Common Challenges The most predominant challenge faced by most people that Robert has worked with is stress. People are so busy nowadays, and none of them focus on having a vision for the future. Most people are just trying to get through their days. There's also a fear of failure that hinders people from being innovative and creative. People tend to compare themselves to the top performers — the best of the best, but usually don't live up to those expectations and make themselves feel like failures instead. The biggest problem is that they aren't creating an environment that enables them to flourish. (7:19) How To Develop The Adaptable Mindset Robert talks about a small hack that almost everyone can follow to develop an adaptable mindset. Most people spend a significant chunk of their time on their phones, watching TV, and all sorts of other superficial things. The hack is to spend less time distracting yourself with something superficial and substitute it with some of the things that have pushed humanity forward, like art, nature, or philosophy. Learn from other top performers and find something that resonates with you. Anything you can integrate into your life that enables you to have a different perspective on the world. (10:38) Alleviating Stress To unlock the adaptability mindset, you need to be able to get away from stress. Fortunately, there are several things you can do to lower your levels of stress. The easiest thing you can do is take some time out of your day to meditate and practice breathing exercises. Also, how you structure your day plays a major role in the amount of stress you may feel. How often do you have breaks and intervals that allow you to relax? The key is to actually relax, don't take a break and pick up your phone and distract your mind. Just relax, maybe even close your eyes — figure out what helps you relax and then do it regularly. (15:40) The Biggest Changes Robert Has Seen Robert was able to see significant changes in the workspace when people were able to make the connection between their work and their own insights, input, and innovations. Robert also noticed that the more autonomous the organization, the better it was because it's hard for just one leader to have knowledge about everyone and know exactly how to steer the organization. The adaptability mindset allows for more openness which gives people a broader perspective enabling them to come up with new business models and opens up many new possibilities for that organization. Sunrise und UPC – die ja unterdessen beide zu Liberty Global gehören – sagen, es gebe vereinzelt Engpässe. Grundsätzlich funktioniere das System. Jake Jensen: An extension of Voices of Experience. Amber D'Angelo: The signature speaker series at the University of Denver's Daniels College of Business. We're your hosts. Kristal Griffith: Kristal Griffith. Jake Jensen: Jake Jensen. Amber D'Angelo: And I'm Amber D'Angelo from the Daniels office of communications and marketing. We'll be unpacking topics at the intersection of business and the public good with CEOs and other business leaders from the Daniels community. Let's dive in. Hi everyone, we're back this month to continue our discussion on labor, employment and people management with Amy Blair. Amy is the senior vice president and chief people officer for Liberty Global, one of the world's leading converged video, broadband and communications companies. Liberty Global's consolidated businesses generate annual revenue of more than seven billion dollars and its joint ventures in the U.K. and the Netherlands have a combined annual revenue of more than 17 billion dollars. Amy graduated from the Daniels College of Business in 1998 with her MBA. Welcome to the VOE Podcast, Amy, thanks for joining us today. Amy Blair: Yes, thank you very much for having me. Amber D'Angelo: So, Amy, I was looking at Liberty Global's statistics and they're quite impressive. Your 36,000 employees connect over 85 million subscribers across Europe and the U.K. with next generation services over advanced fiber and 5G networks. And over the last 10 years, Liberty Global has done approximately 300 deals valued at an aggregate of 130 billion euros. That's a lot of work and a lot of people to pull together into one cohesive workforce. Leading such a large global human resources function, can you tell us about some of the highlights and in particular, the challenges? Amy Blair: So, I guess if I step back for context, for those that are listening to this, the industry in which we operate has gone through incredible transformation over the last 30 years that I've worked at Liberty Global. Just look at how far the cable industry has come since the days of the Cable Cowboys to where we are now, which are real leaders in our industry. And if I look at Liberty Global, our own growth has mirrored that transformation, evolving many, many times, and it continues to do so. Amy Blair: Over the last three decades, we've grown from a small startup cable company to now a world leader in converged broadband, video and mobile communication services like you just said. We've operated all over the world, all over the Asia Pacific region and Latin America and throughout Europe, over the years. Today, we operate in eight countries and most of our workforce is in Europe. Amy Blair: So for me personally, it's been amazing to have a front row seat and witness such innovation and transformation. So to your question about the highlights and the challenges of leading an HR function. First, I can start by saying that there have been many highlights and there have been many challenges in the last three decades. I can tell you without hesitation that leading an HR function is difficult in a business that never changes,
David McRedmond was appointed CEO of An Post in October 2016. He has driven the Company's Transformation programme and return to financial stability and revenue growth, delivering a third successive year of profit by taking big steps to fix the Company's economics; by restructuring the Mails & Parcels and Retail business in line with a rapidly changing, digital marketplace and by putting a highly skilled management team in place to drive the business forward. This has been demonstrated throughout the Covid-19 crisis with An Post supporting the Government, citizens and businesses by keeping the essential supply lines running through Post Offices, Digital, and Mails and Parcels deliveries, while ensuring the safety of staff, postmasters and customers. David is personally driving An Post's Sustainability Charter, having positioned Climate Action, Decent Work, Sustainable Cities & Communities and Innovation & Partnerships – four of the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals most pertinent to the global postal industry – at the centre of An Post's business transformation strategy. He was previously CEO of TV3 which he transformed into a major Irish broadcaster, concluding with its sale to Liberty Global in December 2015. David was previously Commercial Director of Eircom and Managing Director of Eircom Enterprises. During his early career as a retail industry executive in the UK and USA, he held roles such as Operations Director of Waterstones and CEO of WH Smith Inc. David was appointed chairman of Eir in 2018; he is a director of Premier Lotteries Ireland (the National Lottery) and a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. A native of Dublin, he holds a Masters Degree in Modern Irish History from University College Dublin. Today, David joins me to discuss the effects of COVID-19 on An Post, both bad and good. He talks about how the pandemic provided clarity about the company's mission to serve the common good, and he explains what sustainability means to him. He shares how the company cares for its employees, especially during the pandemic, and he stresses the importance of trust. He shares why postal workers further the common good and notes the importance of minimising and preventing burnout, sharing his input on how to accomplish this. He emphasises the power of optimism, notes the importance of thanking people, and explains why it's crucial to interact with others. Finally, he notes the power of perspective and shares what the meaning of life is for him. “It sounds cliché to be optimistic: it's hard, and it can be a struggle at times. But it's so, so worth it, because the world is full of goodness.”– David McRedmond “I think it's important to be aware of the outside world. It makes our issues seem a bit smaller…we find our own relevance if we look around and meet and listen.”– David McRedmond This week on In the Doctor's Chair How COVID-19 provided clarity about the mission of An Post What sustainability means to David The importance of trust Why postal workers are important to the common good Minimising and preventing burnout The power of optimism How to gain perspective In the Doctor's Chair Thanks for listening to In the Doctor's Chair, the show where you'll hear conversations that share life lessons, health habits, and leadership practices that focus on positive psychology, lifestyle medicine, and ways for you to live with more vitality. Season One, Episode 18 – Bonus Episode Rowan Bamford, President of Liberty's Global Transaction Solutions division joins us for a special bonus episode of the Insurance Coffee House. Liberty GTS is a global insurance carrier specialising in underwriting policies for international M&A transactions and have teams based across North America, APAC, EMEA and London. Rowan discusses his career transition from being a private practice Corporate Lawyer to M&A Underwriter and explains the many benefits of leaving the legal profession for the insurance world. Rowan swapped a life of working through the night, targets based on time recordings and a long, slow career path to senior leadership, for a career based on meritocracy, relationships and a fast road to success based on performance and personal responsibility for your own career. Like many M&A Underwriters, Rowan is a big advocate of moving from private practice into corporate insurance which matches the upside of exposure to intellectually challenging work for international clientele with opportunity to travel, whilst also benefitting from better hours, more responsibility, faster career progression and having similar earning potential to Private Practice. Liberty GTS embrace a culture of sacrificing one's ego to benefit the team and Rowan encourages loyal dissent to get the very best ideas from all levels of experience within the team…it's that meritocracy again! Listeners can also hear how Rowan dealt with the challenge of losing his North American team around the Ironshore / Liberty merger and the steps that he took to rebuild the team and come back stronger. A major factor in Liberty GTS' success lies in its strict hiring process, ensuring new recruits meet intellectual, academic and corporate knowledge requirements and have the personality that would be a good cultural fit for the firm. Rowan encourages listeners to reach out to him after the show with any comments or questions about the business or careers in M&A Underwriting. Liberty Global Director of Data Dee Samra reveals how she's changing perceptions around data governance at the telecoms company Less-data-driven organizations often view data governance as a bit of a headache. But as Dee Samra, Director of Data at telecoms firm Liberty Global, says, it doesn't have to be that way. In this debut episode of our brand-new Business of Data podcast, Samra talks to Corinium's Catherine King about how she's establishing data governance as a key value driver at the company. “[Data governance] is an enabler,” she says. “Focusing on the benefits that data governance will bring to leverage new technologies – that's where you'll get that buy-in and get that ‘sell' to get [staff] to engage.” “It's people on the customer-facing parts of your workforce that are going to notice [data quality] issues,” she adds. “The first step is really just making people think about it.” “Now, somebody has to be accountable for data,” she continues. “That's never had to happen before. Because that accountability is there, it starts making people question the data that they have.” Key Takeaways Data governance is a value creator – promoting data governance as a key enabler for exciting new technologies such as AI is the key to securing buy-in for it Build a strong business case – focus on linking good data governance to better business outcomes while also stressing the company's regulatory obligations Raising awareness is key – establishing data ownership and getting people to question where the data they're using comes from are essential data governance ‘first steps'
Innovation and ambition are two words that are synonymous with Formula 1. Sustainability not so much – at least until now.But that could all be about to change. Since being acquired by Liberty Global outright in 2017, the popular motoracing format has undergone something of a transformation, at least on the business side. Now, reducing its carbon emissions and becoming a bastion of sustainability within the sports industry is one of its aims.To be exact, Formula 1 has the explicit objective of becoming net zero carbon by 2030 which, with its extensive travelling around the globe and racing of cars with combustion engine motors, is no mean feat.In this week's podcast, the organisation's director of strategy and business development, Yath Gangakumaran, details its roadmap to get there. Not only that, but he discusses a wider sustainability blueprint that includes a focus on youth education, and diversity and inclusion.During the episode Gangakumaran explains:How Formula 1 is working with partners to develop low-carbon solutions, such as more sustainable fuelsWhy the organisation is establishing a STEM education programme to stimulate diversity and inclusionWhere Formula 1 can leverage its technical knowledge and specialisms to reduce carbon in other sectors

Research from Cardiff University shows that coverage of this election was dominated by the story of the polls, with broadcasters choosing to run stories about the 'horse-race' between Labour and the Conservatives, rather than stories about policy or issues. So, why did they decide to give poll results such prominence, and had they focused more on covering policies, would this have revealed more about the real mood of the public? Steve Hewlett talks to James Harding, director of BBC News; Jonathan Levy, head of news gathering at Sky News, and Richard Sambrook, a former director of BBC news who is now Professor of Journalism at Cardiff University. They discuss the editorial decisions around covering the election campaign, and what can be learned for next time round. Also joining Steve is David Dinsmore, editor of Britain's best-selling daily, The Sun - a paper which prides itself on being closely attuned to what the nation thinks - about his decision to go strong on coverage of the "neck and neck" race between the parties, and whether there was an over-reliance on opinion polls in this years coverage. All3Media is Britain's biggest independent production company, responsible for content ranging from the BBC's acclaimed Wolf Hall, to Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares and Hollyoaks. It was recently bought by Discovery Communications, the US media company behind the Discovery Channel, and Liberty Global - two companies controlled by American billionaire John Malone. Jane Turton, the newly appointed chief executive, talks to Steve Hewlett about the challenges of American ownership, how the indie sector can continue to foster creativity in a global marketplace, and her views on the current industry landscape. Producer: Katy Takatsuki.
