Creative expression is more than a trending concept; it fosters the resilience needed to navigate the unpredictable paths of success. The idea of 'failing fast' and learning from trial and error is essential. In a culture where instant gratification is prevalent, the research underscores the value of persistent effort. Studies show that individuals with high levels of grit are more likely to achieve long-term success. Grit combines passion and perseverance, allowing people to pursue their goals with sustained effort. Those who display grit often find greater engagement and meaning in their work. So, how does one stay motivated through the countless, imperfect first drafts and prototypes that ultimately lead to success? In this episode of Tuesdays with Morrisey, host Adam Morrisey sits down with filmmaker Michael Litwak and tech entrepreneur David Litwak to discuss the parallels between artistic and entrepreneurial journeys, touching on grit, the iterative process, and the discipline it takes to excel. Through their conversation, they explore what it means to sustain passion and purpose through the ups and downs of building creative careers in different arenas.Top Takeaways:Balancing Passion and Creative Expression: The Litwak brothers discuss the impact of their parents' encouragement to explore creative outlets and how an early interest in the arts and entrepreneurship helped them blend creativity with financial stability.Creative Grit and Growth: Michael emphasizes persistence in creative work, noting that success often follows multiple attempts. David adds that resilience is essential not only in the arts but also in entrepreneurship.Modern Social Structures: David's work with Maxwell Social Club addresses shifting social dynamics by creating a space centered on connection and belonging, with principles like curation and contribution.Entrepreneurship as Art: Both brothers agree that entrepreneurship parallels creative pursuits. David views creating a social club as akin to crafting a work of art, demanding vision, attention to detail, and adaptability.Key Takeaways:How environment and upbringing shape creative expressionThe role of grit in both artistic and entrepreneurial journeysThe evolution of social spaces in an increasingly disconnected worldEntrepreneurship and filmmaking as expressions of self and problem-solvingMichael Litwak is an acclaimed Brooklyn-based filmmaker with over four years of directing experience at Wild / Factory. I'm currently bearing a stupid fucking grin as I type. Alex Winkler's soundtrack for MOLLI AND MAX IN THE FUTURE, a bouncy, jazzy number, kicks about, a woman singing about how she may not love you in the present, but maybe in the future, y'all can be more than friends.Michael Lukk Litwak's sci-fi rom-com, following the titular couple Molli (Zosia Mamet) and Max (Aristotle Athari) through 12 years of friendship, romantic tension, uncomfortable conversations about one's insecurities, and tennis (wearing Tron-style suits). Oh, did I mention the MODOK/Krang-looking magical demigod leading his own superpowered cult against a horde of evil actors?Huh, must've slipped my mind. The quickest way to describe this movie is WHEN HARRY MET SALLY in space. A better way, sourced from my press notes, would be an amalgam of '70s-'80s sci-fi and romance movies & the anxieties emerging from a Trump-led COVID pandemic, set in the service of finding the simple joy in connecting, intimately, with another person. Because you might not be able to get over your shit on your own, but with an honest, loving friend to care for you, call you out when necessary? Shit, you both might stand a chance.--------- Follow Daniel on: Twitter - TheMovies_Pod Instagram & Threads - themoviespod Letterboxd - The Movies Music: "The Molli and Max in the Future Song" - Alex Winkler --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/themoviespodcast/message

Martín Litwak—an Argentine tax and wealth structuring expert—explains that the next three months are key to the Javier Milei administration for implementation of liberal reforms. Milei is enjoying a honeymoon period, and Argentines are on their summer vacations. Although Litwak expressed his excitement regarding a liberal government to be in power in Argentina and deregulate the economy, he is concerned the Milei administration has not led with tax cuts. Litwak contends that although Argentina has 170 taxes, 10 of them generate more than 92 percent of the state's revenue. Further, since the burden is so high there is the potential to remove the other 160 and still bring in more revenue, following the logic of the Laffer Curve. For Litwak, Milei's presidency can be either a total success or a complete failure; there is no middle ground. The latter will be a disaster for Argentina, since it will invite a return to power of Peronismo. Litwak also contends that the left will continue to fight in the streets against the incumbent administration's policies. I'm bad, and that's good. I will never be good, and that's not bad. There's no one I'd rather be than me.Wreck-It Ralph may be really good at wrecking, and Fix-It Felix really good at fixing, but Disney had been working on a video game movie since the late 80s without success. Starting as High Score, and then Joe Jump, it would be 2008 when the project would finally be "rebooted" as Reboot Ralph. At one point Ralph wasn't even the lead character, it was Felix. But then they realised that following the story of the bad guy, and his journey to redemption, was actually a lot more interesting that following the good guy. Wreck-It Ralph was born, and to legitimise his world, they decided to contact video game companies to licence actual characters for Litwak's Arcade, which went surprisingly well - everyone wanted on board - Nintendo, Sega, Capcom etc. Over 180 characters later, they didn't just have a movie, they had a universe. They also had a remarkably sweet and brilliant story about just being yourself, not letting others define you, and a reminder that difference is a powerup.A playable version of Fix-It Felix Jr is available at https://kbhgames.com/game/fix-it-felix-jr The Who Framed Roger Rabbit episode of The Rewind Movie Podcast is available hereI would love to hear your thoughts on Wreck-It Ralph !CONTACT....

In this edition of Wilson Center NOW we speak with the Wilson Center’s Robert Litwak to discuss his latest article, Anatomy of the US-Iran Crisis. Litwak examines the escalation of tensions between Iran and the United States in the wake of General Suleimani’s killing and the effects of the Trump administration’s “maximum-pressure” campaign after withdrawing the US from the Iran nuclear deal.
In this edition of Wilson Center NOW we speak with Robert Litwak, author of the new book, “Nuclear Crises with North Korea and Iran: From Transformational to Transactional Diplomacy.” Litwak explains how the ongoing nuclear impasses with both North Korea and Iran reflect a continuing tension in U.S. policy between two diplomatic approaches: the transactional, focused narrowly on the discrete nuclear challenge; and the transformational, comprehensively addressing a regimes’ objectionable behavior.

It's a fun-filled episode of BEHIND THE LENS as we take a look at the indie gem #ROXY, the blockbusting RALPH BREAKS THE INTERNET, and one of the greatest love stories ever told, STAN & OLLIE. First up, we go back to Litwak's Arcade and then into the internet with RALPH BREAKS THE INTERNET. Take a listen to what co-directors RICH MOORE And PHIL JOHNSTON (also a co-writer) had to say about making a sequel to WRECK-IT-RALPH while producer CLARK SPENCER talks about some of the technological advances that allowed for the visual wonders we see unfold onscreen. Then, director MICHAEL KENNEDY is live talking about the sweet and funny #ROXY, a new spin on the age-old tale of Cyrano de Bergerac. From cinematography to casting to capturing magic hour to the talented young actors on board for #ROXY, Michael covers it all. We close out the second half of our show with our prerecorded exclusive interview with director JON S. BAIRD as he talks about STAN & OLLIE. We all know about cinematic comedy legends Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy, but how much do we know about STAN & OLLIE, lifelong partners onscreen and lifelong friends off, most notably in the latter part of their lives when they hit the boards across the Pond with a comedy show. Listen as Jon talks about his love for Laurel & Hardy, the casting of Steve Coogan and John C. Reilly in the title roles, the equally compelling storyline of the men's wives, bringing a real sense of old Hollywood royalty in the film with the casting of Danny Huston as Hal Roach, the lighting and lensing design and working with cinematographer Laurie Rose, and Martin Scorsese's influence on Baird's directing. http://behindthelensonline.net http://eliasentertainmentnetwork.com

Dr. Haleh Esfandiari, founding Director of the Middle East Program at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars and Dr. Rober S. Litwak, Vice President for Scholars and Director of International Security Studies at the Wilson Center give their assessments of the multi-national nuclear agreement with Iran -- on its one-year anniversary. The agreement, according to Litwak, is meeting its intended purpose of keeping Iran from developing nuclear weapons. But, the agreement has not addressed the internal human rights violations escalating in Iran. It was not intended to do so, according to Litwak. However, there is general misunderstanding of the general public about the extent and terms of the agreement. The nuclear accord is a 15 year agreement that was limited to releasing embargoed Iranian funds in exchange for Iran not developing nuclear weapons and appropriate safeguards. The agreement did not address human rights concern. While the U.S. and other countries are focusing on the limitations on nuclear weaponry, battling factions in Iran keep escalating human rights abuses, according to Esfandiari. She notes many people with dual citizenship are being targeted for detainment and arrests for “causing confusion in the public mind” and “spreading lies”. Esfandiari, herself, was arrested by Iranian authorities in 2007 and kept in solitary confinement for 105 days. In Iran, the Revolutionary Guards, who are responsible for most arrests, are not accountable to the President. Instead, they have allegiance to the Supreme Leader. The two factions have opposite purposes. Currently, there is about one execution per day in Iran, according to Esfandiari. Litwak says America’s relationship with Iran is complex. Despite the human rights violations, the United States is not only trying to limit Iran’s weaponry but also is aligning with the Iranian government to fight ISIS in Iraq. Litwak formerly served on the National Security Council staff in the first Clinton Administration as Director of Non-proliferation.
