In this episode, Joe interviews Jeremy Falk: certified instructor and training program developer for Kama Flight; and Dr. David Rabin, MD, Ph.D.: board-certified psychiatrist and neuroscientist, co-founder & chief Medical Officer at Apollo Neuroscience, and advisor to Kama Flight. Kama Flight is a wellness modality for partners, inspired by the movements of Watsu therapy, Thai massage, 5Rhythms, tango, improv dance, and Acroyoga. At the heart of it is the dynamic between the two people engaged in the dance (the ‘base' and the ‘voyager'), which touches on collaboration, leadership, receptivity, strength, surrender, and most importantly, trust. The communication and instant feedback shared between the partners mixed with the healing energy of the somatic movements results in moving stuck energy out of their bodies while also making them more comfortable with touch, agency, and consent – which could be extremely beneficial toward preparing for a psychedelic experience. They talk about: The four principles behind Kama Flight: permission, presence, polarity, and play The humility and humor in people trying (and failing) some of the movements, and how that is healing in itself The huge benefit in people switching between the roles of base and voyager What kind of growth they've seen in clients over extended periods of time The importance of making time for pleasure in our lives and more! Julia, a yoga teacher, shares her inspiring journey of self-discovery, moving from a disciplined upbringing in Russia to finding her path in yoga and personal growth. After initially finding solace in yoga amidst her military family's strict routine, Julia's practice led her to deeper experiences in Bali, where she connected with the Acro Yoga community and took a transformative trek up Mount Agung. Her story highlights the transformative power of yoga in overcoming fears and finding purpose. Julia's journey took her across Egypt, Turkey, and Thailand, eventually leading her to Bali. In Bali, her yoga practice deepened as she started teaching even before completing her formal 200-hour teacher training. She emphasizes the importance of yoga as a practice for personal transformation, not just certifications. Yin yoga and aerial yoga became key practices that helped her release deep emotions, leading to self-discovery and a stronger connection with her body and mind. Julia discusses balancing a busy teaching schedule with rest, emphasizing the importance of rejuvenation and manifesting new intentions through practices like yoga nidra. On a recent trip to Port Aransas, Mia and Adrienne had the pleasure of interviewing Kaisen, a Corpus Christi Yogi, Acro Yoga lover and Parkour enthusiast. Kaisen's journey to Yoga started while practicing Parkour and braving the frigid weather in Ohio. In this episode Matt and I chat over how years of using and abusing his body eventually led him to yoga where he explored his curiosity for understanding his unique path to feeling better. About Matt Yoga instructor Matt Giordano gives credit to an influential figure from his teenage years – his high school art teacher – for sparking within him the curiosity and tenacity that eventually led him to yoga. It was Eileen Walk who told Giordano, “You are not allowed to say ‘I can't.' You must rephrase to a question: ‘How?'” That inquisitive and unrelenting spirit laid the foundation for Matt to begin a devoted yoga practice. When coupled with his passion to understand the physics and subtle alignment of the body, Matt's dharma as a teacher came into focus. Originally from Sea Cliff, Long Island, Giordano spent 7 years developing his teaching style while living in Manhattan, where he taught at local studios (Pure NYC, Equinox). Matt now travels internationally to teach his signature technique-based style of yoga, educating yoga students on how to use their bodies in a profound and life-changing way. Well known for his ability to guide students deeply into postures with his refined attention to detail and precise action cues, Giordano is an adept guide for students of all levels at festivals, workshops, and in his weekly studio classes. His study of biomechanics and integrative mind-body techniques informs his teaching, as he draws upon wisdom from traditions of yoga, martial arts (Aikido and Tae Kwon Do), acrobatics, AcroYoga, and Thai Yoga Massage. Matt is known to inspire humble confidence, allowing students to find ease while expanding the edge of their comfort zones. In 2016, Matt created and founded an international school of yoga that focuses on community, growth and authentic teaching, and he hosts trainings each year out of his home in northwest Connecticut. __________________________________________________________________________________________________ Learn More with Matt:Matt Giordano website Matt's YouTube Matt's Instagram ----------------------------------------------------------------- My Socials: Celest's Instagram Celest's Website Too Flexible To Feel Good Book

Welcome to Episode #82 of the Wild Yoga Tribe Podcast! My conversation with Serena Burgess, a yoga teacher from Sri Lanka, was so illuminating as we took a deep dive into the intersection of yoga and activism. I hope that this conversation made you curious about how you can use the ancient tools of yoga as relevant sources of liberation in the modern world. After all, it's all yoga. If you're looking to tune into a podcast episode that is all about yoga in Sri Lanka then this is the conversation for you. Support the podcast: https://www.patreon.com/wildyogatribe Tell me more about Serena Burgess Serena Burgess has been teaching yoga for 18 years and has led numerous workshops, retreats, and yoga teacher trainings. She is the founder and yoga studio owner of The Om Space. She is certified in Acro Yoga, prenatal/postnatal yoga, and more! She has crafted courses and workshops about the intersection of Yoga and Activism and is passionate about her work as a doula and as an advocate for better birthing experiences for women in Sri Lanka. Some of the courses that Serena has created are the Inner Guru Training (co-founded by Eva Priyanka Wegener at Sri Yoga Shala, Personal Resilience Course, and Conscious Courage. Serena teaches weekly and leads intensive at Prana Lounge in Colombo. For the skimmers - What's in the Yoga in Sri Lanka episode? The intersection of yoga and activism The economic crisis of Sri Lanka: The “Canary” Philosophy of yoga: using ancient tools as relevant sources of liberation in the modern world What yoga teachers teach in a class is a fraction of what students teach Advocating for better birthing experiences for women in Sri Lanka The only Doula in Sri Lanka What to expect in the Yoga In Sri Lanka episode of the Wild Yoga Tribe Podcast Serena Burgess came to yoga while living in the UK at the Shivanada ashram there. After receiving her certification, she moved back home to Sri Lanka where she opened her own yoga studio, The Om Space, in Colombo. While the pandemic caused the studio to shut down, Serena expressed nothing but gratitude for the shift of her energy and intention. Burgess's practice of yoga also intersects with activism. She became involved in the Aragalya struggle, which was a people's uprising in Sri Lanka. Burgess's involvement in activism started when she began feeling that something was not right in the world, starting with the separation of children at the borders in the US. She feels that a lot of people are living with a slight feeling that things are not quite right due to the economic crisis and other issues affecting the world. Yoga has helped her engage in the generative story and see the good things that are happening in the world. Serena Burgess believes that these ancient tools can be utilized in our modern world to face the challenges we come across. Serena has also formulated a workshop called Conscious Courage, which is aimed at allowing people some space and time to figure out how they would like to show up in the world. Serena believes that yoga is not just about practicing asanas but can be integrated into daily life. After all, it's all yoga! Curious? Tune in to the whole yoga in Sri Lanka episode! BEST SUMMER of 2022!! Thank you ALL for being patient while I soak in my summer! HUGSIn this episode Jeremey and I have a conversation about how we use NVC in our workplace and in our families. The situations that come up in the workplace for me were making sure students are listening and ready to learn, including everyone and respect the pro-nouns of others in how they want to be identified and exploring students needs in an Acro-Yoga setting. We all have many different cultures and dynamics in how our families function and operate. NVC has helped me see underneath the worry that my dad has for me or how Jeremey's dad has for his mom. When we can see the bigger picture of the needs underneath we can follow those with a deeper sense of compassion. I hope you enjoy this conversation with me and one of our Living connected listeners Jeremey. Please don't hesitate to email or record a voice memo for me to listen and attach it to the email I would love to hear from you. The email is in the description of every episode at the bottom. Ashira was a late bloomer in the movement world, she spent most of her childhood and pre teen years dipping her toes in movement but mostly focusing on music. It wasn't until her mid 20's when she tried Pilates reformer that she found a sustainable way to not only consistently be active, but to enjoy being active.Ashira tried acro yoga for the first time at a music festival in 2012 in Costa Rica. She dove deep into the world of acro yoga in 2017 in Orange County, CA and never turned back. Today she practices less of the acro yoga side and more partner acrobatics (Icarian and standing), hand-balancing and loves cross training with Pilates reformer, barre3 and yoga (primarily vinyasa). Hello, and welcome back to the Robin Zander Show! Today, I'm pleased to sit down with my dear friend Jenny Sauer-Klein. Jenny is the founder of Scaling Intimacy: a School of Experience Design, and the Culture Conference, an invite-only immersive 2-day event for leaders. She is an experience designer, facilitator, and also the co-founder of the global movement of AcroYoga. Jenny played a big role in the earliest days of several of my businesses, including Robin's Cafe and Responsive Conference, and I learned a lot from her when I started building physical spaces for people to gather and learn. In today's conversation, we discuss Experience Design, how the pandemic only accelerated the importance of skillful facilitation, and much more. Alright, Brave Table fam, this is a super FUN episode. How can we use play to nurture trust, strengthen ourselves physically and mentally, and connect deeper with others? One answer is AcroYoga, and I'm so excited to have with me for this conversation the Co-Founder of the AcroYoga movement and author of Move, Connect, Play: The Art and Science of AcroYoga — the amazing Jason Nemer! Jason's work was featured in Tim Ferriss' New York Times bestselling book, Tools of Titans. He's also coached big-time names like Sergey Brin and Ashley Judd and has brought his training to team-building events for major companies like Google, FourSigmatic, and TrueX. Jason is a rockstar when it comes to turning sucky life moments into big, juicy dreams. Instead of succumbing to injuries he endured as a young acrobat, he found lessons and wisdom in his setbacks so he could fly forward (literally and figuratively!) into performing at the opening ceremony of the 1996 Olympics! It was here that Jason experienced a visceral sense of community for the first time and knew it would be his mission in life to cultivate the same experience for others. With his business partner Jenny Sauer-Klein, they would go on to birth AcroYoga into this world! You definitely want to tune in for Jason's story, loves. Plus soak up all the knowledge and profound insights he has to share. Here's a taste of what we talk about… - How to stop people-pleasing and prioritize what feels good to you - The value of being patient and slowing down - Strengthing your relationships through trust-building and play - Being unapologetic about your own self-care - How to start viewing selfishness in a positive light - How AcroYoga can help create more peace and harmony - Why it's so important to play in relationships - Testing your physical and mental limits and realizing you're much stronger than you think! Make sure you also check out… - Jason's website at https://www.jasonnemer.com/ where you can get your FREE copy of his 5-day Trust Challenge! - Grab a copy of his book on Amazon (also available at all major retailers) https://www.amazon.com/dp/1250774179?tag=macmillan-20 - Find him on Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/jasonnemer - If you loved this episode, you'll also love the one I did with Aaron Alexander: Being in Alignment With Yourself https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/aaron-alexander-being-in-alignment-with-yourself/id1608226580?i=1000568986081 - And this one with Emily Hirsh: Taking Ownership of Life Circumstances by Reframing Your Reality To Make It Work for You https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/emily-hirsh-taking-ownership-of-life-circumstances/id1608226580?i=1000566487215 - And with my soul brother Erwin Valencia: The Power of Connection in Friendships & Long Lasting Relationships https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/erwin-valencia-the-power-of-connection-in/id1608226580?i=1000562182397 Thanks for listening, and I hope you loved this episode! So much in the world of spirituality may feel overly heavy or serious, but Jason Nemer believes there's other ways. A student of gymnastics and acrobatics (and a former Olympian), Jason Nemer is the co-founder of AcroYoga, a form of partner yoga with some of the playfulness you get in other acrobatics. Top 5 Things You'll Learn from This Episode: how he grew up being trained by top Russian and Bulgarian acrobatic masters, how the download for acro yoga came in we explore this quote from his new book: “AcroYoga not only has the power to change the body you're in, it also has the power to change the direction your life is going” keeping the integrity of acro yoga in-check, even as it has spread to the world some honest, vulnerable shares of his experiences in spiritual entrepreneurship He also discusses the restoring ceremonial power of tea (and we talk about comparing tea cabinets!). Make sure to join us in our closing practice: a special breath and mantra sequence passed onto Jason from a master teacher of his. Find more from me on IG at @IAMALYSONCHARLES or alysoncharles.com. In this episode, Anne Muhlethaler, host of Out of the Clouds, interviews consultant and experience design specialist Jenny Sauer-Klein. Jenny is passionate about how we get together as groups and how we learn, and she regularly consults for organisations like Google, Airbnb, Dropbox and the Haas School of Business. She is a wonderful facilitator who has spent her life creating lasting experiences for a myriad of different audiences and is a frequent presenter at international conferences and has been featured in The New York Times, Forbes, Fast Company, and Inc., as well as Tim Ferriss' book “Tools of Titans”.In this conversation, the native New Yorker shares with Anne her personal journey, how she went from Broadway actress to yoga teacher, which led her to therapeutic acrobatics and then on to launching AcroYoga with co-founder Jason Nemer. Jenny talks about how she stepped away from this previous career despite having scaled AcroYoga to an international brand, community and organisation with millions of practitioners, and how she came later to understand that the values that AcroYoga was based on -- trust, connection and playfulness -- were still her core values that would guide her towards her next steps.Jenny also explains her thoughts on how we gather and learn. The two go over some of the pillars of the experience design training program Jenny created (named Scaling Intimacy, which Anne took last year) and how you can help people make a crowd of 100 people feel like a gathering of 10. The three-day workshop caters to those wanting to develop interactive and engaging live events where collaborative learning and connection are privileged over content. Finally, the new mom talks about her experience of pregnancy during COVID, and distils the essence of the TED talk she gave (while 8 months pregnant) in January 2021 on the 3 Keys to Virtual Connection. If you are into leading engaging events or want to create meaningful experiences and inspire your communities with a sense of purpose and connection, this is the episode for you. This week, Natalie has the amazing Sarah Casper on the podcast to talk about her work with teaching students about comprehensive consent. What do acroyoga and consent have in common? They revolve around having the communication skills to pull off having a conversation about what makes you comfortable and what your boundaries are whether its in a yoga pose or in a sexual relationship. Sarah helps Natalie process some of her communication mishaps in the bedroom and allows her to let go of some of the pressure to always get it perfect when it comes to talking about sex. How were you taught about consent? Have your sexual boundaries been asked about or honored? Follow us at @menivetoleratedpod on Instagram! This week I chat with Jason Nemer about his upcoming book release; Move, Connect, Play; The Art and Science of AcroYoga. In addition to chatting about AcroYoga we discuss some of the noble elements of acro that we can apply to our lives to flourish as humans and to build up our communities. This conversion was one of my favorites because of my personal interests in acrobatics and the power of healing through human connection and safe touch. Jason is the founder of AcroYoga.Org, a author, a Yogi, a Bodyworker, and an amazing human who lives the principle of Move, Connect, Play. The year 2020 brought a lot of challenges that brought distance in the practice of acro and body work. However, though dedication and embracing community it is returning with new workshops, retreats, and this fantastic new book. The Cleveland Clinic says this about a rage room, " For a price, these facilities will let you blow off steam by flinging dishes, smashing computers and destroying furniture." During this week's podcast episode, Katie mentions it as one of the therapies she tried on her trauma healing journey.Acro Yoga + What is Rolfing?Katie mentions trying acroyoga along with the Rolfing method. Above you will find where I linked to AcroYoga. It combines the fitness + play of acrobatics, the healing + movement of therapeutics, and the balance + connection of yoga. The Rolfing method was named after its founder, after its founder, Dr. Ida P. Rolf. The official Rolfing website describes Rolfing as, "A process that enables the body to regain the natural integrity of its form, thus enhancing postural efficiency and your freedom of movement."WP ThyroidWP Thyroid is a natural thyroid medication. Katie mentions she took it early in her Hashimoto's healing journey. I wanted to shine an extra light on it because I still take it and am confident in it. If you want to learn more about it, you'll find WP Thyroid HERE.Oura RingThe most accurate guide on sleep, readiness, and activity. Katie says she used and found a ton of value in this during her deep healing period. And yes, the Oura Ring is actually a ring you wear. And now I think I need one.Phosphatidyl CholineI have heard Katie mention her choline issues a few different times on various podcast episodes. She talks about it in this podcast episode as well. Essentially, from doing a lot of testing, she found that she wasn't getting enough choline. Eggs are a huge source of choline, and she is still unable to consume eggs. Choline is important fort the Gutsy community because Phosphatidylcholine (PC) is an important component of the mucosal layer of the colon and acts as a surfactant within the mucus to create a hydrophobic surface to prevent bacterial penetrance. Furthermore, four human trials have been performed to determine the efficacy of PC in the treatment of UC (ulcerative colitis). I'd love to explore Phosphatidylcholine more.Wrap UpTime to wrap this up. As always, a huge goal for this show is to connect with even more people.
