THE FIRST mid-air collision in the U.S. since 2009 led to the deaths of 67 people Wednesday night over the Potomac River in Washington, D. C. As has become common after major events, the Internet rushed to politicize it and/or claim that lives were lost to a nefarious conspiracy. A pilot friend of ours recommended this analysis of the crash by an experienced pilot who reviews the recording of communications between air traffic controllers at Reagan National Airport, which indicates that the pilot of the Blackhawk helicopter thought he had Flight 5342 in sight when, in fact, he was looking at the plane coming in behind it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hfgllf1L9_4 And no, there is nothing suspicious about the AA flight landing on runway 33, a number with significance in the occult realm (for example, the 33 degrees of Scottish Rite Freemasonry). Many airports have a runway 33. Reagan has only three runways, but standard practice at airports is to number runways by the approximate compass heading pilots must use on approach. Runway 33 is approached from the south-southeast on a heading of about 330°—hence, Runway 33. When planes approach the same runway from the opposite direction, it's runway 15, since 330° – 180° (the opposite direction) = 150°—thus, runway 15. In short, what happened Wednesday night over the Potomac River was a tragic case of human error. Sadly, another deadly air crash took place in Philadelphia last night when an air ambulance fell out of the sky and into a strip mall in Northeast Philadelphia. Seven are confirmed dead with nearly 20 injured on the ground. The flight was headed to Mexico with a scheduled refueling stop in our neck of the woods, the Springfield-Branson National Airport. The Learjet 55 reportedly climbed away from the Northeast Philadelphia Airport at a high rate of speed and then crashed about two miles southwest, on the perimeter of Roosevelt Mall. Today, Dom leads off the Dom Giordano Program by offering his thoughts on many unfolding local and national topics. First, Dom updates the situation on the still-contested election between McCormick and Casey, as Casey continues his fight in courts to allow the counting of certain ballots in a seemingly useless effort to flip some votes. Then, Dom offers up his thoughts on the ongoing Laken Riley trial playing out live, noting the deep implications of the border policies on local communities throughout the country. Also, Dom runs through some of the cabinet picks, honing in on the controversy that developed around Trump's selection of Robert Kennedy Jr as Health and Human Services Secretary. Then, Dom welcomes Broad and Liberty and RealClearPennsylvania columnist Guy Ciarrocchi onto the Dom Giordano Program to hear his in-depth analysis of Trump's big win in the critical swing state of Pennsylvania. Guy breaks down county-by-county who flipped toward Trump, noting some of the most important demographics in electing Trump. In today's second hour, Dom brings Pastor Bill Devlin of Octane Faith back onto the Dom Giordano Program. Devlin, a globetrotting missionary, has been a regular guest over the years, to hear how he's been after recently breaking bread with new Ambassador to Israel Nominee Mike Huckabee. Dom also reminisces of a relationship Devlin built with RFK Jr after Devlin stepped forward and helped people keep their jobs during Coronavirus when companies were mandating vaccines. Then, Dom welcomes State Senator Cris Dush onto the Dom Giordano Program to discuss Bucks County Commissioner Diane Marseglia's call for the commissioners to violate the rule of law and ignore the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, saying that the County should count misdated and undated ballots in an attempt to swing the Senate vote from McCormick to Casey. Marseglia's argument stems from Trump's election, noting that people violate laws anytime they want, so they should, too. Dush takes issue with these comments, noting the importance of election integrity, and tells what's being done and what he hopes is done about the comments. in today's third hour, Dom welcomes newly elected State Senator Joe PIcozzi, who alone, after knocking on thousands of doors, flipped an area of Northeast Philadelphia that had been trending Blue in recent years. Picozzi explains how he did what many thought was unthinkable, explaining how he was able to capture a district that has long eluded Republicans with absolutely no help from the establishment Republicans of Philadelphia.

Send us a Text Message. When Kat Gavin was born, her mother was only 18 years old. And as a result, Kat's crib was right next to the stereo. So to say Kat grew up “with music” would be an understatement. After a stint working record retail in the malls of Northeast Philadelphia, Kat made her way into Center City Philadelphia and got a job at Tower Records South Street. It was there she met, worked, and bonded with so many of “her people”. It was there she met her former husband, Geoff Gavin, and raised a family with him. At South Street Kat did it all; sales clerk, cashier, buyer, Supervisor, Key Holder, Administrative Assistant…And then there were the In Stores; The Cramps, G Love & Special Sauce, The Roots, Morrissey, and a host of others. Kat especially remembers the South Street store's 10th Anniversary Party when she had to help the Phillie Phanatic get dressed and Hall & Oates took over the staff break room for hours, not letting anybody in. When the Tower Avenue of the Arts store opened up in 1999, Kat moved to the new digs and proved to be an invaluable part of the team. A completely new group of people and yet it was still Tower Records. But being in Center City, there were always odd goings on. The morning Kat opened the door at 7:30am to be met near the front of the store by a homeless man who had been locked in overnight, begging her not to call the Police. Kat also recollects the John Mayer in-store when, after an acoustic performance, Mayer stopped signing autographs and walked out of the store to the consternation of hundreds of girls and their mothers. Kat wraps things up by telling us about visiting the Ave of the Arts store a couple of years ago, the weird feelings she felt, and the need to get the hell out of there. Join us for this jawn. You'll be glad you did.

Jim Barber had a 19-year career with Tower Records. Starting in 1987, Jim worked in the Classical Department in Washington DC with Rob Bruce as the store's General Manager. After only a year on the job, Tower decided to open a location in Tyson's Corner VA and Jim was one of three employees to transfer to help get the new suburban location and its first-time General Manager, George Scarlett, up and running. Jim remembers his interview for Tyson's Corner taking place outside the store, in the hallways of The Shops at 2000 Pennsylvania. After leaving the company briefly, Jim found his way back to Tower in Northeast Philadelphia, not far from where he grew up. Twelve years in Store #176 with its unusual layout, Jim ultimately became General Manager of the King of Prussia store from 2002-2004. His career with Tower concluded back where he spent most of his professional life, in North East Philadelphia until it closed in 2006. Jim had the distinction of being the only employee to be in the Northeast Philadelphia store the day it opened as well as its last day of business. Through it all, Jim remembers his co-workers, Regional Managers, his living situation starting out at a “Tower house” in Washington DC, navigating a post-Tower Records world and lots of other details that made Tower a great place to work.

Food Trucks have become a popular (and dare we say sought-after) foodie trend, but what happens when you bring two hot trends into one concept? Our first guests, Electronic Eats set out to do just that. Co-Founders Nina-Maria Lara-Daniels and Armand Wilson met during the filming of a movie, and found a mutual love of gaming and food. Somewhere along the way, the pair's love and ideas blossomed, and Electronic Eats was born. Of course not all ideas run smoothly when they are first established, so tune in to hear how they turned a second-hand food truck into a well-run, entertaining, and food-centric mobile gaming center. Co-Founder Rich Shaget and his Chef, Randy Smith, joined us to discuss Osteria 545. The location offers a deeper connection to the community, holding a history in the culinary world which you'll find etched into their bar-literally. As for their venue's refurbished areas--the rooms were established to offer a better dining experience. They wanted to ensure that guests of Osteria 545 would have an uninterrupted meal while partaking of the set-menus and fresh takes on farm-to-table specials. What makes this restaurant even more remarkable? Co-Founder Bruce Santino is also the owner of Black Sheep Farm, which offers fresh produce on a weekly basis for both Chefs (Santino and Smith) to come up with creative dishes for their patrons to enjoy. Looking to hear more? Then tune in to find out about one of the Specials running this week at Osteria 545, and so much more! Our final guest, Co-Founder and Head Brewer Wayne Humphrey of My Local Brew Works, joined us from their location just inside Globe Dye Works. We had an in-depth discussion regarding how Wayne and his co-founder (Tim Montague) began their journey into the craft-brew scene, and how their business concept offers a distinct difference from all other breweries. After making a splash on the competition circuit they formed a friendship with Philly Brewing icon and author, George Hummel, who helped their journey with his expertise. After delaying the initial launch for My Local Brew Works (as a result of the 2020 pandemic), Humphrey and Montague are preparing their Northeast Philadelphia-based business to launch, offering cases of beers that are chosen and created by you--that's right! Your next gathering, event, or heck--even if you just want to grab a beer to brag about is at your fingertips. If you want to know more--stay tuned until the end of this week's Food, Farms, and Chefs episode to find out!
Today, Dom led off the Dom Giordano Program by reflecting on his trip with producer Dan up to Mayfair last night where the neighborhood celebrated both the Father Judge Baseball championship and the St. Hubert's cheerleading championship. Dom tells that at the event he saw, for the first time in person, newly elected State Senator Jimmy Dillon, who he's regularly attacked on air for his refusal to prioritize the safety of Philadelphians over politics. Then, Dom delves into national politics, revealing a surge by Vivek Ramaswamy, which kicks off a conversation as to whether or not he may play as a spoiler to candidates such as Ron DeSantis, and replays highlights from yesterday's Joe Biden speech. Also, Dom and Dan ask listeners throughout the show for things that have vastly changed since the Old West in honor of tomorrow's day celebrating cowboys.
Did you know that everywhere the president or vice president of the United States goes, they take a little piece of Northeast Philadelphia with them? True fact! The Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support Flag Room, located at the Naval Support Activity base in Oxford Circle, is the only place in the world authorized to make the official hand-embroidered presidential and vice presidential Flags used at press conferences, state visits, and other public and private functions. The Flag Room is also responsible for creating flags for the military and other branches of government. How did this prestigious task from nearly two centuries ago become a uniquely Philadelphia tradition? What inspires the Flag Room's 13 embroidery artists to do their jobs with such painstaking care, even if their handiwork goes widely underrecognized? In the second installment of The Jawncast's Philly Flags mini-series, Brian Seltzer toured the Flag Room to find out. Follow The Jawncast on Twitter, and be sure to check out some awesome photos and videos from our visit to the DLA Troop Support Flag Room.
Full Hour | In today's first hour, Dom tells about a congressional hearing featuring FBI Director Christopher Wray, playing back clips of multiple members of Congress asking the Director of the most controversial federal entity questions about censorship and January 6th. First, Dom plays back questioning by Rep. Thomas Massie, who's looking for answers over bad decisions and potential involvement by the FBI during the January 6th incident. Then, Dom and Dan have some fun with clips from Rep. Hank Johnson, who again makes a fool of himself on a national stage. Then, Dom reveals the new name for a grouping of Northeast Philadelphia neighborhoods, telling that police sources and real estate agents have started referring to parts of Fishtown, Port Richmond, and Kensington as “Port Fishington.” Also, Dom offers his solutions for the continued sieve of applications and attendants to Temple University, and gives his analysis on Fox News wunderkind for the 2024 Republican nominee, Glenn Youngkin. If Republicans take the White House in 2024, can we expect charges against prominent Democrat officials? 3:40pm- In an article for Just the News, journalist John Solomon writes about the Bill Clinton “Sock Drawer” defense and how it relates to Donald Trump's legal troubles: “[t]he case in question is titled Judicial Watch v. National Archives and Records Administration and it involved an effort by the conservative watchdog to compel the Archives to forcibly seize hours of audio recordings that Clinton made during his presidency with historian Taylor Branch…U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson in Washington D.C. ultimately rejected Judicial Watch's suit by concluding there was no provision in the Presidential Records Act to force the National Archives to seize records from a former president.” Concluding “that a president's discretion on what are personal vs. official records is far-reaching and solely his, as is his ability to declassify or destroy records at will.” You can read Solomon's full article here: https://justthenews.com/politics-policy/all-things-trump/old-case-over-audio-tapes-bill-clintons-sock-drawer-could-impact 4:05pm- In 2017, then-President Donald Trump publicly stated that his Justice Department should not pursue charges against former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton—citing that any prosecution “would be very, very divisive for the country.” 4:15pm- After leaving a federal court where he pleaded not guilty to 37 criminal charges, former President Donald Trump stopped at a Miami café where he took photos with supporters and offered to buy lunch for customers. 4:30pm- Rich speaks with callers who vent about the Trump indictment. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) revealed “the Burisma executive who allegedly paid Joe Biden and Hunter Biden kept 17 audio recordings of his conversations with them as an ‘insurance policy.'” You can read Singman's full article here: https://www.foxnews.com/politics/grassley-burisma-executive-who-allegedly-paid-biden-has-audio-recordings-of-conversations-with-joe-hunter 4:50pm- While speaking with Larry Kudlow on Fox Business Network, Congressman James Comer (R-KY) alleged that Burisma—a Ukrainian natural gas company—had sought to enter the U.S. energy market and, subsequently, appealed to the Biden family for assistance. 5:05pm- On Saturday, the Biden Administration held an event for Pride Month at the White House. We're a nation in decline.” 5:25pm- According to Brad Dress of The Hill, writes “the feud between former President Trump and the nation's highest-ranking military officer, Gen. Mark Milley, played a key role in the historic indictment handed down last week over Trump's alleged criminal mishandling of classified documents. Key audio in the case captured…Trump [claiming] he had a document about a ‘plan of attack' on Iran…and he admitted he knew the document was secret and not declassified by him, contradicting some of his claims in the case.” Dress reveals that “[i]t's unclear whether the document in question exists.” You can read the full article here: https://thehill.com/policy/defense/4046504-trump-milley-feud-played-key-role-in-classified-documents-case/ 5:35pm- John Yoo— the Emanuel S.
