In this episode, I'm highlighting another client's success story! Ani Paoletti and I began working together in December 2021 to get to the bottom of her hormonal acne, anxiety, and digestive issues that had been affecting her for at least 8 years, and made worse by removing an IUD earlier in 2021. After “graduating” from her program with me, Ani shares some of the things she learned about herself, how to tune in to her body, and listen to the signals it was giving her about her health. Within the first month, and after a minor diet shift, she was already able to see improvement, especially with her hormonal acne. With her willingness to try something new and discover more about herself, major changes took place over the 6 months we worked together. Tune in to hear Ani's success story, and learn more about how you can start the journey of addressing the root of your health concerns holistically. Hopefully, Ani's story will empower you to take control of your health and better understand your body, just as she did!
According to the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, an estimated 27 million Americans have thyroid disease, and more than half of those individuals are undiagnosed and unaware that they have a thyroid condition. However, it's important to understand that if more comprehensive thyroid testing was used by doctors and functional reference ranges were used to interpret that testing instead of the overly lax lab reference ranges, a much larger number of people would be classified as having some type of thyroid dysfunction. Most doctors rely almost exclusively on the thyroid stimulating hormone or TSH test to detect thyroid dysfunction, yet TSH is not even technically a marker of thyroid function, it's actually a marker of pituitary function. Even worse, the medical community can't even agree on what the normal reference range is for the TSH test.My other issue with conventional medicine is its refusal to actually look at underlying causes of thyroid dysfunction including but not limited to gut inflammation, chronic stress, adrenal issues, nutrient deficiencies, toxins in our food, air, and water, and chronic infections such as periodontal disease and h. Pylori. The thyroid's primary function is to control the body's metabolism – the rate at which cells perform duties essential to living. It manages how we turn our food into energy by facilitating the processes of energy production in the mitochondria. I want you to think of your thyroid as your body's “engine,” which sets the pace at which the body operates. Too little thyroid hormone can cause the body's systems to slow down, and too much thyroid hormone can cause the body's systems to speed up.In today's episode, I've brought back my friend and pharmacist Jim Paoletti to talk about this amazing gland that does so much for us. Many people are confused about how to balance hormones and are overwhelmed by all the misinformation about bioidentical hormone therapy for both men and women. It's easy to be confused because the symptoms of an excess hormone can also mimic symptoms of deficiency. Plus many people are unaware of the role diet and your gut microbiome play in regulating hormones and how nutrient deficiencies and overloads can upset this delicate balance. But understanding these relationships doesn't have to be so complicated. Who isn't stressed these days? Stress seems ubiquitous in ourselves, our clients, and everyone else! The good news? According to our guest this episode, Dr. Gabriel Paoletti, stress doesn't have to mean that things are going wrong. Supernova get all the press, but Nova and Micronova are still pretty powerful. White dwarf stars are normally pretty inactive, unless some hydrogen ends up kickstarting them again. Enough helium leeched from a nearby star can ignite the entire surface of a white dwarf. Nova may not destroy the star, but they can create immensely powerful explosions and particles. The right combination of White Dwarf and Red Giant can create powerful particles near the speed of light. Micronova sound small but they are still colossal and brief explosions on white dwarf stars. Not powerful enough to ignite the whole surface of a star, but definitely enough to destroy a planet, micronova are quite deadly. Scaringi, S., Groot, P.J., Knigge, C. et al. What do a toothpick, a scarf and a banana peel have in common? This might sound like the beginning to a bad joke, but in this episode Jennie and Dianne share the stories of three artists who died under unusual circumstances. You will be introduced to writer and poet Sherwood Anderson, the mother of modern dance, Isadora Duncan, and Roland Reed whose photography helped the world to better understand the indigenous peoples of the American plains and the Southwest. All three lived adventurous lives and all three died Ordinary Extraordinary Deaths. The Meaning Movement: Helping You Find Your Calling, Create Your Life's Work, and Make Career Change
Dara Paoletti noticed a pattern in her life. She would get into a job, lose herself in it for a few years, and then discover that she was significantly burnt out. She felt empty and spent. She uses the phrase, "work zombie" to describe it. After going through this a few time, she knew she needed to find another way. She dug in deep to herself and her work, and something new and surprising emerged: a passion for helping people stay engaged, energized, and out of burnout. In my interview with Dara we talk about the struggle to find your way as a creative with many interests, how to create guardrails against burnout, and so much more. I loved my time with her, and I think that you will too. In this episode you'll learn: What Dara does What is her relationship with the word “Life Coach” Is this what she dreamed to become when she was little How she struggled with burnout She shared her journey to where she is now Why being different is ok Her struggles (and successes!) as a creative person Things that lead her to feel she don't fit in the box How to define "burnout" Why burned out happens Different ways burnout can look Dara shares her own burnout story and how she got through it How to prevent burnout What are "turtle steps" and why they're helpful Show notes at: https://themeaningmovement.com/dara/
