Welcome Crystal to the podcast. Crystal loves her dogs. She also loves her TRD Pro T4R that she lovingly named The Fur Runner. Her Father bought her her first Toyota. A Corolla, that she still has to this day. It has over 250,000 miles on it and is still going. He told her that it would last her a long time. It certainly has. It was rad getting to know Crystal and learning about her love for dogs and Toyotas. Did you know she was in a Toyota commercial? Yessir... Crystal, The Fur Runner and her Puppers! The Fur Runner has some upgrades coming soon that we can't wait to see. We follow her on Instagram @thefurrunner... go check her out!
Is the Message a good translation of the Bible? Is it even a translation? This is one of the questions I get asked all the time, and with good reason: people like the vividness of a more plainspoken translation, but they worry about the accuracy of bringing the Bible so far down to earth. How can we tell the difference between a faithful but idiomatic translation, and one that goes off the reservation? How do translators think about these things, and how should we? It's such a profound issue that I'm going to do a few episodes about it, dipping into ancient Greek literary criticism, cockney slang, and the French translation of Harry Potter to explain how we ought to think about tone and register. Someone oughta stop me: I am having way too much fun. Story Time with Mama V - Children entertainment and a welcomed break for the parents.
Little Puppers is written by Natalie M. Grandy. Every puppy loves its humans. But sometimes those humans need to see the world from its point of view. Little Puppers teaches kids what it is like to be a puppy. He wants his young readers to know how to care for him, how to play with him and how to pet him. Most importantly, Little Puppers wants children to know that he experiences the same emotions they do, including joy, fear, and happiness. Here is the link where the book is available for purchase: https://www.amazon.ca/Day-Life-Little-Puppers-Veterinarian/dp/B0BZFP5PL6Once you've listened to this episode, please share it with another human who would like to know what it's like to be a puppy. Puppers, Doggos and satire, oh my! Yeah. this is one I was concerned about going in. Like Death to Smoochy, this is a film that I would skip past on TV all the time. Thanks to Izzy over at Everything I Learned from Movies, I have to finally sit down and watch this one too. Anita and Chris also have never seen this before so at least I wasn't alone. Chris and I also reminisce the hype old days of wrestling and lament how it's just not the same anymore, Anita talks a bit about her thoughts on Twin Peaks so far, we discuss some of our favorite comedies and start getting hype for the upcoming Halloween Hustle! First of all, our apologies for missing an episode in April. We suffered some loss in our family, including our dog Leela. In this episode we pay tribute to our puppers, and pick two songs that remind us of her. We barely talk about our songs, and we just ended up talking about our pups the majority of the time. The release date of this episode is also no coincidence, as it would have been her 16th birthday. Rest in peace Leela, we love you and miss you every day!Our Songs for This Week:A Life Embossed by Protest the Hero, from their 2013 self-released album Volition.Run the World (Girls) by Beyoncé, from her 2011 album 4 released via Columbia Records.Support the show
Pull up a pew, and grab a Puppers and a stud finder...we're makin' boar chops! Today we cover everything you need to know about Letterkenny, Season 11, Episode 2 - Okoya! In this episode we welcome another long time friend, first time guest, Kacey, to to dig in to the episode with us. We start with a short recap of the prior episode (Chips) with Erin. We have the full episode recap including favorite clips. Thoughts/Theories/Observations: Loved the reaction from Wayne when Katy told him to sit down. Glen and his “Idrises Elba”. More tropes. Why when Katy has perfect tarts, was she not selling tarts instead of Gail?Maybe Katy's tarts are just for family. Wayne and Rosie are so fucking adorable. Rosie is the best Wayne partner. Rosie and Tanis are like so fucking cool with each other. Wayne needs someone who understands him and Rosie has from the beginning. Tyler Johnston; acting as somebody who's acting as somebody who's a terrible actor. You can't pigeonhole Canadian comedy. Glen and Tanis, besties? Gail and Coach. Rosie really becoming one of the gang this season, in more episodes this season than Dary. Kacey's guide to tickling the roof of your mouth with your tongue. Always stroke “The V” with your tongue. Slowly stroke “The V” with your tongue. It's got to be gentle or else you'll hurt yourself. You'll hurt your tongue. Deeper, gentle, longer tongue strokes. Stewart and Roald hissing at Jesus and all his Idrises Elba. Coach continually gets creepier as the show goes on. Docking, soaking, putting a one in the two Was Coach a Christian youth? What's “Freshy”? (it's a drink like Kool Aid) Kacey's own “Okoya” fiasco. Does Tang still exist? Walking into “Okoya” is like walking into a labyrinth of hell with little arrows on the ground that don't even point you in the right direction and has no David Bowie at the end. People having sex in Okoya floor samples. Theory: These first two episodes are an indication to the audience that they've done their existing tropes enough that it's time to move and to be prepared for them to start putting their old tropes away. Kacey, JJ Frankie JJ, and the potato. What do you think could scare Wayne to make him stop hiccupping? Pedro Pascal Our "Fuck-Fight-FERDA" segment was immensely fun and all over the place. ★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★
This week we have a special guest, Mike, join us for the show. We talk action figures, specifically the He-Man line and some history behind them. We also discuss the He-Man Netflix show. Well, let me tell ya, Apocalypse Now is one crazy-ass movie. It's like they took the wildness of a Donnybrook, the intensity of a barn burner, and the madness of a hockey brawl and shoved it all into a three-and-a-half-hour flick. The story follows a fella named Captain Willard who's sent up the river in Vietnam to terminate a rogue colonel who's gone totally off the rails. Along the way, he meets all sorts of wild characters, including some gnarly-ass surfers, a French plantation owner, and a crazy-ass helicopter pilot. The thing is, the whole time you're watching this movie, you're like, "What in the actual fuck is going on here?" There's explosions, gunfire, and all sorts of chaos. And the cinematography is so trippy, it's like they filmed the whole thing through a haze of Alberta premium. But despite all the madness, there's a real sense of depth to this movie. It's like they're trying to show you the dark side of humanity, the things we're capable of when we're pushed to our limits. And in the end, it all culminates in this epic showdown that's so intense, it'll have you white-knuckling your Puppers for days.Overall, Apocalypse Now is a crazy-ass movie that's not for the faint of heart. But if you're up for a wild ride, it's well worth checking out.

The new year continues, and to keep the celebration going, here's another new episode of The Flickcast. The hits just keep on coming! On this week's episode Chris and Joe continue their deep dive into the Marvel/Disney+ show WandaVision and discuss their personal theories about the characters, what's happening on the show and where it's all going. They also discuss Chris' new favorite show Letterkenny, which Joe recommended to him (and you) during last week's episode. In addition, the boys talk about Godzilla vs Kong, monster movies, the early days of television, Zack Snyder's Justice League, when we might finally see the latest James Bond movie and how nobody likes degens from upcountry. Picks are also back this week with Joe picking the new trailer for Godzilla vs. Kong and Chris picking the latest film from writer/director John Lee Hancock called The Little Things with Denzel Washington, Remi Malek and Jared Leto. It's yet another big show. Let's keep 2021 going in the right direction. Thanks for listening! WARNING: This episode may contain discussions about COVID-19, mental health and quarantine. We understand not everyone is in a place to talk about or hear discussions surrounding these issues. Please do what's best for you. Stay safe everyone. As always, if you have comments, questions, critiques, offers of sponsorship or whatever, feel free to hit us up in the comments, on Twitter, Instagram or, yes, even Facebook. Or shoot us an email. We share the Puppers thanks to one of our greatest supporters & followers Allyson Knights @mugofhoptimism, whom as well, is a massive Letterkenny fan in Canada. This episode gets pretty nerdy, pretty funny, then very sour thanks to Chris' sour red ale from Crux he brought to share. Enjoy!

If you're the kind of viewer who feels that Code Lyoko circles around its problems but never actually address them, we have some good news: this episode invents a brand-new lifelong phobia for one of the main characters and sees him overcome it in the span of twenty-two minutes. Executives at Cartoon Network tried to put a stop to that madness, alleging that it would be unappealing to boys ages six to twelve, but MoonScoop went ahead with their bold vision for the show. Which is why France is at the pinnacle of culture and taste, and everything we filthy yanks make is consumerist garbage. Anyway, let's watch some cartoons. Of course, there's also the three of us talking nonsense, a.k.a. the main event, kind of. We make fun of Yumi's questionable Japanese, steal jokes right out of Entertainment Weekly (who even reads magazines anymore, right? lol), introduce you to the wonderful world of gay baseball metaphors, and comment on this episode's many weird Marvel references! Oh, wait, we forgot to actually bring those up! Well, they're there because MoonScoop was also producing a Fantastic Four cartoon at the time. And now you know. ===== Here are some of the screenshots we looked at in this episode: http://img.codelyoko.fr/galeries/44_vertige/Vertige_270.jpg http://img.codelyoko.fr/galeries/44_vertige/Vertige_179.jpg http://img.codelyoko.fr/galeries/44_vertige/Vertige_080.jpg === Questions?
