What followed was not just a pivot—but a complete reframing of success, balance, and what's actually sustainable. She now leads The Village, a community designed for parents building businesses while raising families, offering connection, mentorship, and room to be fully human. This episode explores:How slowing down can lead to more clarity and purposeThe emotional toll of “doing it all”—and how to let go of that mindsetCreating daily rituals to protect your energy and reclaim your timeWhat it means to model emotional health for the next generationWhy honest conversations in community create lasting changeKey Takeaways:You don't have to wait for burnout to start protecting your peace.Doing less is not a weakness—it's a powerful strategy.Creating space for rest, boundaries, and connection creates ripple effects in your family, business, and community.“The journey is the celebration. In this profoundly moving episode, Sandy Lundy joins Joe Pardavila to share the heartbreaking story of her son Shane, who died by suicide in 2018 after enduring relentless bullying—a pain Sandy never saw coming. Raw and honest, Sandy discusses how bullying evolves beyond childhood into digital cruelty and adult complacency, revealing why victims often suffer in silence and how society's "casual cruelty" normalizes harm.Sandy's mission—inspired by Shane's hidden kindness to others—unveils the power of "Earth Angels": everyday people whose small acts of integrity (like a teacher who saved Sandy's own future) can alter destinies. Through grief, guilt, and hope, she calls on listeners to lead by example, combat digital toxicity, and recognize their ripple effects in a world desperate for compassion. Her book Earth Angels is a rallying cry: ordinary actions can heal an extraordinary brokenness.
I've been telling you that I'm leveling up this podcast. Today's episode proves it! I had the absolute honor of sitting down with Sophie Mazzaro, a world-renowned mural artist, sneaker customizer, and creative force whose journey is anything but ordinary. From her roots as a German exchange student in Texas to painting the now-iconic Kobe Bryant mural on the Venice Beach Pier, Sophie's story is a masterpiece. Every connection she made along the way contributed to the stunning tapestry of her artistic journey. As I interview Sophie Mazzaro for The Ripple Effect Podcast, she opens up about her early days growing up in Berlin, her move to LA to chase an acting dream, and how that world led her straight into the life of a full-time artist and entrepreneur. Despite growing up with parents in the IT industry, Sophie went in the opposite direction and pursued the creative route. She's worked on custom sneakers, tattooed incredible pieces, and painted massive murals, including one from the 72nd floor of the tallest building in LA. What blew me away was Sophie's unfiltered honesty about the artistic grind: how she navigates creative burnout and the realities behind the “starving artist” perspective. We talk about the emotional story behind her Kobe Bryant tribute, building a business around her art, and her bold new chapter living in Wyoming, painting breathtaking wildlife pieces inspired by her surroundings. If you've ever wanted to know how to turn art into a business, what it's like to be a mural artist, or how to make it as a creative, this episode will empower you. This isn't just another artist interview. This is the story of a woman unapologetically forging her own path, one brushstroke at a time. Listen and get inspired by one of the most creative and driven artists of our time. This is Sophie Mazzaro, and this is her Ripple Effect. PS. On this episode of Take the Stage, presented by Haley Marketing, Brad Bialy sits down with happiness researcher Declan Edwards to challenge the centuries-old belief that happiness follows achievement. Hey mission fam! In this week's episode, 209. The Response Effect, I'm diving deep into what I call "The Response Effect" - a powerful concept that's been on my mind lately. We're exploring how our responses to situations, mistakes, and challenges matter WAY more than the actual event itself. Whether you're a missionary, preparing to serve, or a returned missionary, this episode is all about understanding how grace, curiosity, and compassion can completely transform your experience. I'll share some personal stories - like the time a scout leader handled a situation with my son, and how my own parents' even-keeled responses shaped my understanding of love and support. We'll talk about why we often have reactive responses (spoiler: it's usually fear-based!), and how shifting to curiosity, acceptance, and unconditional love can create incredible ripple effects in our lives. Most importantly, I want you to understand that how you respond to yourself matters just as much as how you respond to others. This episode is a game-changer for anyone wanting to grow, embrace their mission experience, and learn to love themselves through every twist and turn. If you're ready to transform your perspective and create more compassionate, powerful responses in your life, this episode is for you. Let's do this! As always, if you found this episode helpful, I want to invite you to subscribe if you aren't already, share this episode with your friends and missionaries you know, and write a review. I know this work will help LDS missionaries around the world and it would mean so much to me if you did. Until next week my friends. ✅ The Seven A's of confession (and why "I'm sorry" isn't enough for deep healing) ✅ How to break the cycle of emotionally stunted men in your family line ✅ The 6-second technique that can save your marriage and your relationships with your kids ✅ Why going "upstream" is better than constantly putting out fires FULL SHOW NOTES > SUMMARY: What if the reason marriages grow cold after the honeymoon year isn't about compatibility, but about something dads never learned to model? In this episode, Ken Sande reveals how emotionally stunted men are created when fathers never show their kids how to say "I'm sorry" or "I need help." You'll discover the Seven A's of confession that can break generational patterns and the upstream approach to preventing conflict before it starts. Plus, Ken shares practical tools for managing your emotions in the heat of the moment—including the six-second technique that can save your tongue from doing damage. Key Takeaways: More people are watching your responses to conflict than you realize—about 10 times more—and you're teaching through your reactions. The Seven A's of confession provide a framework for meaningful apologies that actually heal relationships rather than just checking a box. Emotional stunting passes from generation to generation when fathers never model humility, confession, or asking for help. The READ technique (Recognize, Evaluate, Anticipate, Direct) helps you manage amygdala hijacking and respond thoughtfully instead of reactively. Going "upstream" to prevent conflict through relational wisdom is more effective than constantly putting out the fires of broken relationships. Your royal identity as a child of God, friend of Jesus, and ambassador of reconciliation should shape how you lead your family 24/7. Guest: Ken Sande founded Peacemaker Ministries and Relational Wisdom 360, organizations focused on conflict resolution and relationship skills. After 30 years of mediating conflicts—including over 600 divorce cases with more than half reconciling—Ken shifted focus to go "upstream" and help people prevent conflict through biblical emotional intelligence. He's the author of multiple books on peacemaking and relational wisdom, and lives in Billings, Montana, where he enjoys hiking and backpacking with his family and grandchildren. Send us a textOn this week's episode of Coffee with Danny, we sit down with Fr. Patrick, a longtime Amigo whose journey from high school mission trips to priesthood is rooted in one powerful idea that we all hold, juntos: people over progress. Fr. Patrick reflects on how a single invitation changed the course of his life, leading him to discover radical love in Nicaragua, dedicate his life to service, and now lead hundreds of students to experience transformation firsthand through trips with Amigos. This heartfelt conversation is a reminder that it's the small, ordinary moments, that often become the most extraordinary and transformative. What if there was one, single, metric we could track to tell whether or not we were actually on track to restoring God's vision for family? There's a lot of noise, a lot of competing priorities in the world, BUT... I think we've found one metric. We call it: 3 Generations, 1 Table, Every Week. If you can build this rhythm into your family, it's almost inevitable that you'll become a multi-generational family team. This episode covers exactly what this metric is, and how to achieve it. On this episode, we talk about: 0:00 Intro 1:10 The One Metric To Track When Restoring Biblical Family Blueprint 5:36 Practical Step For Starting a Multigenerational Weekly Meal 10:37 The Use of a Single Metric 19:25 Ripple Effects of This Meal 22:19 An Answer To Demographic Decline? John 4:51-54 As he was now going down, his slaves met him, saying that his son was living. So, he inquired of them the hour when he began to get better. Then they said to him, “Yesterday, at the seventh hour, the fever left him.” So, the father knew that it was at that hour in which Jesus said to him, “Your son lives”; and he himself believed, and his whole household. This is, again, a second sign that Jesus performed when He had come out of Judea into Galilee. On the way home, some of the royal official's slaves met him, to give the good news that his son had survived the illness and was out of the woods, so to speak. Of course, the official was curious about the timing of the turn around. When they told him that it was at 1 p.m., the same time Jesus had said, “Your son lives,” it's not hard to imagine the impact. We don't know what happened on the rest of the journey home, but once he got home and shared what happened, not only did the official believe in Jesus, but so did the whole household—family and slaves. The encouragement these verses have for us today is that when we love one person in Jesus' name, we are probably introducing an entire network to Him. As we love and share Christ with a serviceman who comes to repair an AC unit, the ripple effect may extend to family, friends, and work associates. For example, as I spoke briefly to our waitress at a restaurant and asked how I could pray for her, she immediately told me about her mom who had just been diagnosed with cancer. She also told us she was going to be moving to go to a university in the state. As I'm thinking about her, I realize Jesus could put hundreds of people in her path in the next year, and if God causes the seeds planted to bear fruit, there's no telling what the impact of a few minutes of loving with Jesus can have. Think for a moment about your own network and Jesus' influence in their lives through you. Jesus loves everyone in your life that you love when you live with Him. We ask for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit in our lives, so the kingdom can advance in this world. That's how our Father works. He touches one life with a view toward glorifying His name in many others. So let's be encouraged by the ripple effect of the love of God. I invite you to become a partner in our ministry. Would you pray about becoming a regular supporter of Elijah Ministries and the Live to Love with Jesus ministry? I hope you will receive the joy and benefit of “giving it forward,” so others may receive encouragement to turn their hearts to God and to live to love with Jesus. Tafoya also weighs in on the debate around transgender participation in women's sports. “I would like to be measured by what the people who learned from me taught other people.” This is what my guest said, and I've never forgotten it. Seth Godin is one of the premier voices of business in our generation, and he was one of my first guests when I was host of The Ziglar Show, and this was the second time I had him on a show. Seth is well known for his innovative thinking and insight into what I'd cite as business and vocational reform. He's a true leader in that he's attracted a massive following of the business world who look to him daily for commentary on what's most relevant for successful business practices and ethics we can all benefit most from in our professional and personal lives. In this conversation, Seth talks about why the core tenants of morals, values and personal relationships that Zig Ziglar upheld are still what is most important for our success in today's marketplace. A marketplace that changes daily, but principles that do not. So coming up I bring this talk with Seth Godin and Tom Ziglar, Zig's son and CEO of Ziglar, from the archives because it's worth it. Last week we talked about Everyone-versus-Everyone. That hasn't stopped. Before we could edit and publish the last episode, Google unleashed a “do-everything” AI bundle. Last week we talked about when everyone ships everything at once, how do you find the whitespace? This week we continue to discuss two more tectonic shifts: 1. The Great SEO Trade-Off ➜ The AI Answer Engine - Google's new AI-mode could nuke the blue-link economy that's powered the internet for 20+ years. If LLMs hoard the traffic, who keeps creating the content they need to stay smart? Expect hot takes on long-tail extinction, “answer-engine optimization,” and whether originality still pays. 2. Hiring Hangover Meets AI Reality - New-grad recruiting is down 50 %, senior talent is grumbling, and managers admit they'd rather spin up an LLM than onboard Gen Z. Brian and Fareed unpack why the entry-level pipeline collapsed, where the arbitrage is hiding, and how startups can weaponize AI-native rookies before incumbents wake up. We add a dash of labor-economics humor, a sprinkle of Shopify-meets-Stack-Overflow, and you've got an episode that will leave you rethinking your product, growth, and hiring strategy all at the same time.
