This week on IMPACT Wrestling, it is a special Thanksgiving episode with Wrestle House 2 which revolves around the idea of them attempting to make Johnny Swinger happy by pairing him up with one of the Swingerellas for a show closing wedding, but Hernandez and Eddie Edwards see through Rosemary's true motives as John E. Bravo's soul is put in jeopardy while Chris Sabin walks around the house shirtless and in slow motion, causing quite a stir. AEW Dark has the debut of the mysterious masked Infinito who is introduced ‘from the Infinite universe, the beginning and end of time and weighing more than you can possibly imagine'. We also see the debut of La Rosa Negra, Ethan Page vs. Fuego Del Sol and Adam Cole debuts on Dark, taking on Anthony Greene in the main event. (STINGER: ROH) This weekend's Ring of Honor TV has a big EIGHT-man tag team main event. (STINGER: Impact) New matches announced for Impact's Against All Odds show. Satoshi Kojima - who's going simply as “Kojima” in Impact - will face Joe Doering. The state of emergency covers areas in and around Tokyo and Osaka...with Aichi and Fukuoka now added to the list. Some of the restrictions on businesses are expected to be eased. The encouraging news for pro wrestling companies in Japan is that the ban on spectators at large sporting events will be scaled back. (STINGER: WWE) A well-known name on WWE's management team...Senior Director of Talent Relations Mark Carrano...has been fired, according to multiple reports Thursday night. Fightful reports that Carrano's firing is directly tied to a social media post by Mickie James, who revealed a package of her belongings shipped by WWE was packed in a garbage bag. James was among the wrestlers released by WWE earlier this week. John Laurinaitis, Triple H and Stephanie McMahon tweeted Thursday that a WWE employee had been FIRED over the incident. There were reports of a broader shakeup of personnel in the Talent Relations Department...even before Carrano's firing was reported. Also Thursday...WWE reported its revenues for the first quarter of 2021. $263.5 million dollars - down 9% compared to the first quarter of last year. During a conference call with investors Thursday...we learned WWE plans to remain in the ThunderDome through at least June. WWE does not expect to return to live touring until the second half of the year. WWE also announced a deal with Crunchyroll to develop a new anime series. As of Thursday night, we have basically NOTHING announced for tonight's SmackDown. NXT UK isn't big enough for Kenny Williams and Amir Jordan. On yesterday's show, the former tag team partners signed on for a No Disqualification / “Loser Leaves NXT UK” match. A date for that match has yet to be announced. Also on yesterday's show...Moustache Mountain - Tyler Bate & Trent Seven beat Noam Dar and Sha Samuels in the main event. Joe Coffey pinned Eddie Dennis...as the rest of Gallus brawled with Dennis' pals, Primate and T-Bone. Jinny beat Dani Luna...and Jinny and Joseph Conners wanted to continue the beating after the bell...but Mark Andrews and Flash Morgan Webster ran out to save Luna. Sam Gradwell beat Dave Mastiff. (STINGER: New Japan) Tonight's New Japan Strong has the final in the U.S. version of the New Japan Cup Tournament. It's Brody King vs. FILTHY Tom Lawlor. The winner will also be the first holder of the new Strong Openweight Championship. Also tonight, the New Japan debut of Wheeler Yuta. He's taking on Rocky Romero. Japan's prime minister is poised to declare a new state of emergency in Tokyo...and the western prefectures of Osaka, Kyoto and Hyogo. This is in response to a spike in COVID-19 cases. Part of the order would reportedly include BANNING spectators from large events. This would begin Sunday and run through May 11th. It would not impact any shows on New Japan's Wrestling Dontaku tour...BUT New Japan does have shows at Tokyo's Korakuen Hall coming up on May 8th, 10th & 11th. Pro-Wrestling NOAH has a big show coming up next Thursday - but it's also being held outside the affected areas. (STINGER: AEW) Top Flight's Darius Martin tweeted that he underwent ACL surgery on Thursday. He's been out of action since February. (STINGER: Impact) A warning for Impact Champ Rich Swann before the big Title vs. Title Match against AEW Champ Kenny Omega...at Sunday's Rebellion pay per view. On last night's Impact, Swann tried to call out Omega. He had to settle for a video message from Omega and Don Callis. But that's not where things ended. Moose made an unexpected appearance in the Impact Zone. He wished Swann “good luck”...and then added this ultimatum. (Moose Warns Swann) That clip from last night's Impact. Jordynne Grace's mystery partner for Rebellion was revealed last night. It'll be Rachael Ellering teaming with Grace to challenge Fire n' Flava for the Knockouts Tag Titles. Eric Young rolled up Eddie Edwards to get the pin in last night's main event. Young wrestled the match with a torn ACL. Also last night, the Good Brothers beat Decay...and Shera beat Jake Something. (STINGER: ROH) This weekend's Ring Of Honor TV will give us our first good look at Brody King's new faction, Violence Unlimited. I'm Matt Carlins and this is JUST Pro Wrestling News for Thursday, January 14, 2021.. This update is sponsored by IndyWrestling.us. Results from last night's AEW Dynamite, NXT and MLW Fusion are straight ahead in this update but first… (STINGER: WWE) A major title match set for today's NXT UK - WALTER will be defending his United Kingdom Championship against A-Kid. Also, Tyler Bate will be in action against Sam Gradwell. The Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic is underway. THREE first-round matches on last night's NXT. Earlier in the day, WWE announced we'd see the debut of a new team - called MSK. It turned out to be the team formerly known as The Rascalz - Dezmond Xavier & Zachary Wentz now known as Wes Lee & Nash Carter. They advanced with a win over Isaiah "Swerve" Scott & Jake Atlas. The Grizzled Young Veterans beat Ever-Rise...and Adam Cole & Roderick Strong got past Breezango. But they needed a little backup to do it. During the match, Pete Dunne, Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch attacked Kyle O'Reilly at ringside. That drew out NXT Champion Finn Balor returning the favor to the Undisputed Era, who saved him from Dunne, Lorcan and Burch earlier in the show. The first-ever WOMEN'S Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic will not wait until the men's edition is complete. That tournament will begin on NEXT week's NXT - with Kacy Catanzaro & Kayden Carter vs. Toni Storm & Mercedes Martinez. Two other teams also announced last night - Candice LeRae & Indi Hartwell..and Shotzi Blackheart & Ember Moon. But the full tournament bracket is still being kept under wraps. We'll also finally get Tommaso Ciampa vs. Timothy Thatcher in the FIGHT PIT on next week's NXT. (STINGER: AEW) Now, let's dig into last night's AEW Dynamite. Darby Allin is still the TNT Champion. He survived an offensive onslaught from Brian Cage, then got a late assist from Sting when Team Taz got involved. For a few moments, it looked like Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks would team up for a 6-man tag. But Karl Anderson and Doc Gallows snuck in to take the Bucks' spots. Omega and the Good Brothers beat the Varsity Blondes and Danny Limelight. After the match, Jon Moxley tried to beat the odds. When he was overwhelmed, Rey Fenix and Penta El Zero M came to the rescue. When Mox got Omega back in his sights, the Young Bucks came out to stop him...but Fenix and Penta surprised the Bucks with a pair of superkicks. The show opened with Pac beating Eddie Kingston. Miro soundly defeated Chuck Taylor. That means Chuck must now serve as Miro's “butler” for the next month or so. Serena Deeb beat Tay Conti to retain the NWA Women's Championship. Some key matches set up for next Wednesday. Hangman Page says he'll again team with the Dark Order..and promised to give the group an answer to their offer for him to join them.
