Katherine Firkin: US correspondent as Donald Trump arrives at Miami court on federal crimes charges

Former US President Donald Trump has pleaded not guilty to illegally hoarding classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida. “We most certainly enter a plea of not guilty,” Todd Blanche, Trump's lawyer, told US Magistrate Judge Jonathan Goodman. CNN reported Trump had his arms folded and periodically spoke to Blanche while in the courtroom Trump's motorcade arrived on Tuesday afternoon (EDT) at the federal courthouse shortly before he was scheduled to appear before a magistrate judge, a stunning moment in American history days after he became the first former president charged with federal crimes. Members of law enforcement stand guard as supporters of former President Donald Trump rally outside the Wilkie D. Ferguson Jr. U.S. Courthouse in Miami. Photo / Alex Brandon, AP Trump, as well as an aide charged as a co-conspirator, have been booked in the Miami federal court. The pair were digitally fingerprinted and had their birthdates and Social Security numbers taken as part of the booking process at the federal courthouse in Miami. The US Marshals Service said Trump and Walt Nauta were booked shortly after they arrived Tuesday afternoon. It's the second criminal case Trump is facing as he seeks to reclaim the White House next year. He's also accused in New York state court of falsifying business records related to hush-money payments made during the 2016 campaign. Trump has denied any wrongdoing, saying he's being unfairly targeted by political opponents who want to hurt his campaign. After his court appearance. Trump will return to New Jersey, where he's expected to hold a press event to publicly respond to the charges. The motorcade carrying former US President Donald Trump arrives near the courthouse in Miami. Photo / AP Nauta, a Navy veteran who fetched Trump's Diet Cokes as his valet at the White House before joining him as a personal aide at Mar-a-Lago, is accused of moving boxes from the White House at Trump's direction and then lying about it to investigators. Trump rode to court with his son Eric, who accompanied the motorcade from the former president's Doral resort to the federal courthouse in Miami. CNN aired footage of Trump walking to a line of SUVs with his son by his side while someone yelled, “Let's go Trump!” The former president stopped and waved at supporters, as well as chatted with staff members. Eric Trump appeared to clap his father on the back just before he climbed in a vehicle. As he rode to court, Trump posted on his social media site that the case against him was a “witch hunt”. Via his Truth Social network, he posted: “ON MY WAY TO COURTHOUSE. WITCH HUNT!!! MAGA.” Later, outside the courthouse, Trump's lawyer Alina Habba said, “Today is not about President Donald J. Trump, who is defiant. “It is not about the Republican Party, it is not about the 2024 election,” Habba added. “It is about the destruction of longstanding principles that have set this country apart.” Alina Habba, lawyer for former President Donald Trump, gives a thumbs up to supporters after speaking outside the Wilkie D. Ferguson Jr. U.S. Courthous in Miami. Photo / Alex Brandon, AP Trump is the first former president to face a judge on federal charges as the city of Miami prepared for possible protests by crowds that officials said could number in the thousands. Security was tight outside the federal courthouse ahead of Trump's history-making court appearance but there were no major disruptions as the morning unfolded. Trump approached his arraignment with characteristic bravado, insisting as he has through years of legal woes that he has done nothing wrong and was being persecuted for political purposes. But the gravity of the moment was unmistakable as he answers to 37 felony counts that accuse him of willfully retaining classified records that prosecutors say could have jeopardised national security if exposed, then trying to hide them from investigators who demanded them back. The case is laden with political implications for Trump, who holds the dominant spot in the early days of the 2024 Republican presidential primary. But it also poses profound legal consequences given the prospect of a years-long prison sentence. Even for a defendant whose post-presidential life has been dominated by investigations, the documents probe has stood out for the apparent volume of evidence amassed by prosecutors and the severity of the allegations. It's also a watershed moment for a Justice Department that until last week had never before brought charges against a former president. Attorney General Merrick Garland, an appointee of President Joe Biden, sought to insulate the department from political attacks by handing ownership of the case last year to a special counsel, Jack Smith, who on Friday declared, “We have one set of laws in this country, and they apply to everyone”. The arraignment, though largely procedural in nature, is the latest in an unprecedented public reckoning this year for Trump, who faces charges in New York arising from hush money payments during his 2016 presidential campaign as well as ongoing investigations in Washington and Atlanta into efforts to undo the results of the 2020 race. He's sought to project confidence in the face of unmistakable legal peril, attacking Smith as “a Trump hater”, pledging to stay in the race and scheduling a speech and fundraiser for Tuesday night at his Bedminster, New Jersey, golf club. People watch as the motorcade carrying former US President Donald Trump arrives at the Miami courthouse. Photo / AP “They're using this because they can't win the election fairly and squarely,” Trump said on Monday in an interview with Americano Media. The court appearance is also unfolding against the backdrop of potential protests. Some high-profile backers have used barbed rhetoric to voice support. Trump himself has encouraged supporters to join a planned protest Tuesday at the Miami courthouse, where he is expected to surrender to authorities. Trump is not expected to be subjected to a mugshot, according to a person familiar with the situation. Generally, Justice Department agencies, like the FBI and US Marshals Service, take a booking photo as part of the arrest process and the photo is uploaded into a shared law enforcement database. A small group of pro-Trump supporters and anti-Trump protesters were squabbling in front of Miami's federal courthouse as they awaited the former president's appearance. A man with “Trump sucks” spray-painted on his jacket and pants shouted at supporters of the former president as they passed by while a man held a homemade “Free Trump” banner behind others who shouted at him. Dozens of supporters wrapped themselves in Trump flags or campaign merchandise as they milled about near the courthouse. The crowd included far-right internet personality Anthime Gionet, who served a two-month prison sentence for streaming live video while he stormed the U.S. Capitol with a mob of Trump supporters on January 6, 2021. Gionet, better known as “Baked Alaska,” was live streaming video of his interactions with people around the courthouse — something the terms of Gionet's probation don't appear to prohibit. Meanwhile, Miami Mayor Francis Suarez, wearing a T-shirt with a police logo, toured the nearby media encampment and said he didn't expect any disturbances. “So far, so good,” Suarez said. “It's still early, but the crowd seems to be under control and everyone respectful and peaceful. Let's hope it remains that way.” Suarez is considering a presidential run and has suggested he could make his intentions known during a speech Thursday at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in California. Some Trump supporters were planning to load buses to head to Miami from other parts of Florida, raising concerns for law enforcement officials who are preparing for possible unrest around the courthouse. Mayor Suarez had said the city would be ready, and police chief Manuel A. Morales said downtown could see anywhere from a few thousand up to 50,000 protesters. Among those who arrived early Tuesday were father and son Florencio and Kevin Rodriguez, who came to the US 15 years ago as asylum seekers fleeing the dictatorship in Cuba. Wearing a shirt that reads “Jesus is my savior, Trump my president,” the younger Rodriguez, Kevin, said it was possible Trump was guilty of illegally retaining classified documents. But he questioned the fairness of the proceedings in light of other classified information probes concerning Democrats, including former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and President Joe Biden. Police gather after the motorcade carrying Trump arrived at the Miami courthouse. Photo / AP Clinton was not charged for sending classified information on a private email server after FBI investigators concluded that she had not intended to break the law. The Biden investigation remains open, but no evidence has emerged to suggest he acted willfully — a core claim in the Trump indictment. “We never abandon our amigos — those who love this country and our liberty,” Rodriguez added, highlighting Trump's staunch opposition to Cuba's communist government. The crowd also included far-right internet personality Anthime Gionet, who served a two-month prison sentence for streaming live video while he stormed the US Capitol. Gionet, better known as “Baked Alaska,” was livestreaming video of his interactions with other people as they waited for Trump to arrive. Unlike in the New York case, where photographers produced images of a sombre-faced Trump at the courtroom defence table, the public's view will be limited. Cameras are generally not permitted in federal courts, and a judge Monday night barred reporters from having phones inside the building. A federal grand jury in Washington had heard testimony for months in the documents case, but the Justice Department filed it in Florida, where Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort is and where many of the alleged acts of obstruction occurred. Though Trump is set to appear Tuesday before a federal magistrate, the case has been assigned to a District Court judge he appointed, Aileen Cannon, who ruled in his favour last year in a dispute over whether an outside special master could be appointed to review the seized classified documents. A federal appeals panel ultimately overturned her ruling. It's unclear what defences Trump is likely to cite as the case moves forward. Two of his lead lawyers announced their resignation on the morning after his indictment, and the notes and recollections of another attorney, M. Evan Corcoran, are cited repeatedly throughout the 49-page charging document, suggesting prosecutors envision him as a potential key witness. Trump has said he's looking to add to his legal team though no announcements were made Monday. He was expected to be represented at his arraignment by Todd Blanche, an attorney also defending him in the New York case, and Florida lawyer Chris Kise, who joined Trump's stable of attorneys last year. Under the rules of the district, defendants have to have a local lawyer for an arraignment to proceed. The Justice Department unsealed Friday an indictment charging Trump with 37 felony counts, 31 relating to the willful retention of national defence information. Other charges include conspiracy to commit obstruction and false statements. The indictment alleges Trump intentionally retained hundreds of classified documents that he took with him from the White House to Mar-a-Lago after leaving the presidency in January 2021. The material he stored, including in a bathroom, ballroom, bedroom and shower, included material on nuclear programmes, defence and weapons capabilities of the US and foreign governments and a Pentagon “attack plan”, the indictment says. The information, if exposed, could have put at risk members of the military, confidential human sources and intelligence collection methods, prosecutors said. Beyond that, prosecutors say, he sought to obstruct government efforts to recover the documents, including by directing personal aide Walt Nauta — who was charged alongside Trump — to move boxes to conceal them and also suggesting to his own lawyer that he hide or destroy documents sought by a Justice Department subpoena. - Eric Tucker, Alanna Durkin Richer, APSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Wade Draft Opinion The Supreme Court released a report stating that, after a months-long internal investigation, the leaker of a draft opinion overturning Roe v. Wade last year couldn’t be identified. The leak shattered the image of the Supreme Court, which has long prided itself on maintaining proper decorum and on keeping as confidential the deliberations of the justices in cases argued before the court. The day after the leak, Chief Justice John Roberts said there would be an investigation. But despite his assurances, the unprecedented leak reportedly caused internal disruptions at the court and changed the atmosphere behind-the-scenes while giving rise to rampant speculation about the motives of the leaker or leakers. Some said the leak was intended to generate a public backlash that would intimidate the conservative justices into leaving Roe intact, while others speculated that it was calculated to pressure the conservative justices, who had already signaled a willingness to reverse Roe, to stay the course and actually do it. Supreme Court justices, including Justice Samuel Alito, who wrote both the draft and published versions of the opinion, previously described the leak of the document as a “grave betrayal.” In recent months, various justices said an update on the progress of the investigation was coming, but no updates followed until the formal release of the report. The leak was followed by months of raucous protests at the homes of the conservative justices in Maryland and Virginia, targeted harassment of justices in public by left-wing activists, and angry words in Congress. One man was arrested and charged with plotting to kill Justice Brett Kavanaugh. The report (pdf) on Supreme Court Marshal Gail Curley’s investigation was issued midday on Jan. 19. The Supreme Court ruled on June 24, 2022, in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization that there’s no constitutional right to abortion, overturning Roe v. Wade, the 1973 precedent that legalized abortion nationwide. The Dobbs ruling returned the regulation of abortion to the states. Five conservative justices voted to reverse Roe. Roberts, also considered a conservative, voted to uphold the restrictive Mississippi abortion law in question but wrote that he wouldn’t have overturned Roe. Three liberal justices issued a strongly worded joint dissent. Somehow, an early version of the draft majority opinion in Dobbs made its way to the media, a first-of-its-kind leak of a full high court opinion. Politico published the draft document, dated Feb. 10, 2022, on May 2, 2022, without disclosing its source. In the end, the draft document wasn’t much different than the official published opinion. The investigation itself is continuing, according to the report. https://thepostmillennial.com/trump-probably-coming-back-to-twitter-gop-source?utm_campaign=64487 Trump 'probably coming back to Twitter' Former President Donald Trump is looking to return to Twitter and Facebook. Trump, whose account was reinstated following the purchasing of Twitter by Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, has stuck to his own platform, Truth Social, despite his account's unsuspended status. A Republican with knowledge of private discussions on Trump's potential return to Twitter, who spoke with NBC News on condition of anonymity, said, "Trump is probably coming back to Twitter. It’s just a question of how and when. He’s been talking about it for weeks, but Trump speaks for Trump, so it’s anyone’s guess what he’ll do or say or when." Another person close to Trump told the outlet that Trump has sought input on his potential return to Twitter for weeks, and that his campaign advisors have been workshopping ideas for his first Tweet on the platform in over 2 years. Some Trump advisors said that the 2024 presidential hopeful could be limited in posting to other social media platforms since he founded Truth Social. A spokesman for Trump told NBC though that the campaign believes he would be able to return to Twitter as before. Trump was banished from the popular social media platform on January 8, 2021, two days after the Capitol riot on January 6. Trump previously said that he would not be returning to the platform and that he would stick to Truth Social. "Truth Social is through the roof," he said Talks of Trump's potential return to Twitter comes as Trump's campaign has petitioned for his Facebook account to be reinstated, as the account nears the end of it's two-year suspension. The Facebook ban, enacted on January 7, 2021, was for an initial period of two years, after which it would come up for review. https://thepostmillennial.com/breaking-alec-baldwin-to-be-charged-with-involuntary-manslaughter-in-fatal-rust-shooting?utm_campaign=64487 Alec Baldwin to be charged with involuntary manslaughter in fatal Rust shooting On Thursday, prosecutors announced that they will charge Alec Baldwin and armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed with two counts each of involuntary manslaughter in the fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on Baldwin’s Rust set. The announcement of the charge comes over two years after Alec Baldwin shot and killed 42-year-old cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injured director Joel Souza with a live round from a prop gun. According to CBS News National Correspondent Kris Van Cleve, Assistant Director David Hall "has signed a plea agreement for the charge of negligent use of a deadly weapon. The terms include a suspended sentence and six months probation." No charges were filed in connection to the shooting of Rust director Joel Souza, who was injured but survived. In a statement from New Mexico First Judicial District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies, she stated that her office will file criminal charges against the two by the end of the month. Involuntary manslaughter is a fourth-degree felony in the state of New Mexico, and carries an 18-month jail sentence and a $5,000 fine. Carmack-Altwies noted that "The other charge is involuntary manslaughter in the commission of a lawful act," which is also a fourth-degree felony carrying the same sentencing. In 2021, Baldwin had said in an interview with George Stephanopolous that he "didn’t pull the trigger," but a later FBI analysis concluded that he did in fact pull the trigger. It was found that the prop gun had been loaded with live rounds, and that the gun had misfired multiple times leading up to the fatal shooting. In April of 2022, New Mexico’s Occupational Health and Safety Bureau fined Rust Movie Productions $136,793, the maximum possible fine. The bureau also reportedly issued a "scathing narrative of safety failures in violation of standard industry protocols," which included testimony that the production’s managers took little to no action to address two previous misfires leading up to the fatal October shooting. They also documented numerous gun safety complaints brought forth by crew members that they say went unnoticed, and said that weapons specialists were not allowed to make decisions regarding additional safety training. The production’s head armorer, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, had previously had a number of complaints lodged against her in regard to concerns over her careless handling of weapons. Gutierrez-Reed and her assistants had also been allegedly been playing with weapons on the set of Rust. Hutchins had reportedly been advocating for safer conditions for her team. In November of 2022, Baldwin launched a lawsuit against several crew members of the film for reckless and dereliction of duty. The suit named Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, the chief armorer, Assistant Director Dave Halls, Prop Master Sarah Zachry and Seth Kenney, the gun supplier. The previous month, Baldwin settled with Hutchins’ family in a wrongful death suit. As part of the agreement, Matthew Hutchins, Halyna’s widower, will act as an executive producer when the film resumes production. In October 2022, it was revealed that Rust would resume production in January, but the production would not resume in New Mexico, according to Variety. https://www.foxnews.com/lifestyle/sister-andre-worlds-oldest-person-dies-118 Sister André, world's oldest person, dies at age 118 Lucile Randon, the French nun who was the world's oldest living person and the oldest person to survive COVID-19, died in her sleep on Tuesday, Jan. 17, at the Sainte-Catherine-Laboure nursing home in the town of Toulon. Microsoft said Wednesday that it’s letting go of 10,000 employees, which will reduce the company’s headcount by less than 5%. Amazon also began a fresh round of job cuts that are expected to eliminate more than 18,000 employees and become the largest workforce reduction in the e-retailer’s 28-year history. The layoffs come in a period of slowing growth, higher interest rates to battle inflation, and fears of a possible recession next year. Here are some of the major cuts in the tech industry so far. All numbers are approximations based on filings, public statements and media reports: Microsoft: 10,000 jobs cut Microsoft is reducing 10,000 workers through March 31 as the software maker braces for slower revenue growth. The company also is taking a $1.2 billion charge. “I’m confident that Microsoft will emerge from this stronger and more competitive,” CEO Satya Nadella announced in a memo to employees that was posted on the company website Wednesday. Some employees will find out this week if they’re losing their jobs, he wrote. Amazon: 18,000 jobs cut Earlier this month, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy said the company was planning to lay off more than 18,000 employees, primarily in its human resources and stores divisions. It came after Amazon said in November it was looking to cut staff, including in its devices and recruiting organizations. CNBC reported at the time that the company was looking to lay off about 10,000 employees. Amazon went on a hiring spree during the Covid-19 pandemic. The company’s global workforce swelled to more than 1.6 million by the end of 2021, up from 798,000 in the fourth quarter of 2019. Salesforce: 7,000 jobs cut Salesforce is cutting 10% of its personnel and reducing some office space as part of a restructuring plan, the company announced Jan. 4. It employed more than 79,000 workers as of December. In a letter to employees, co-CEO Marc Benioff said customers have been more “measured” in their purchasing decisions given the challenging macroeconomic environment, which led Salesforce to make the “very difficult decision” to lay off workers. Salesforce said it will record charges of $1 billion to $1.4 billion related to the headcount reductions, and $450 million to $650 million related to the office space reductions. Meta: 11,000 jobs cut Facebook parent Meta announced its most significant round of layoffs ever in November. The company said it plans to eliminate 13% of its staff, which amounts to more than 11,000 employees. Meta ’s disappointing guidance for the fourth quarter of 2022 wiped out one-fourth of the company’s market cap and pushed the stock to its lowest level since 2016. The tech giant’s cuts come after it expanded headcount by about 60% during the pandemic. The business has been hurt by competition from rivals such as TikTok, a broad slowdown in online ad spending and challenges from Apple’s iOS changes. Twitter: 3,700 jobs cut Shortly after closing his $44 billion purchase of Twitter in late October, new owner Elon Musk cut around 3,700 Twitter employees, according to internal communications viewed by CNBC. That’s about half the staff. Since then, significantly more employees have quit after Musk changed some policies around working from home and wrote that he expected all employees to commit to a “hardcore” work environment. In a tweet on Nov. 4, Musk said there was “no choice” but to lay off employees as the company was losing $4 million per day. https://www.boundingintosports.com/2023/01/philadelphia-flyers-ivan-provorov-stands-by-his-faith-refuses-to-wear-lgbtq-pride-night-jersey/ Philadelphia Flyers’ Ivan Provorov Stands By His Faith, Refuses To Wear LGBTQ+ Pride Night Jersey During the recent match between the Philadelphia Flyers and the Anaheim Ducks, one member of the Flyers did not wear the Pride Night themed rainbow warmup jersey meant to show support for the LGBTQ+ movement. Rep. Matt Gaetz sought a preemptive pardon for himself near the end of President Donald Trump's term and made his request known to someone outside the White House Counsel's office, according to two people familiar with the matter, but Gaetz's request was never seriously considered by the White House because they decided preemptive pardons were off the table. In the final days of Trump's term, CNN reported that Pat Cipollone and other lawyers for the President told him he should not pardon himself, his family or any Republican lawmakers in a prospective manner unless he was prepared to list specific crimes.Gaetz's push for a pardon, first reported by The New York Times, came during the closing months of the Trump-era Justice Department when federal investigators were beginning and investigation into whether the Florida congressman had a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old girl.Gaetz has denied all of the allegations and has tried to portray the sex trafficking investigation as connected to an alleged extortion plot against him. But the effort fuels fresh scrutiny of Gaetz after the Justice Department's investigation became public. The Times reported Tuesday that it's unclear what Gaetz knew of the inquiry at the time of his request, and he didn't tell White House aides when he sought the pardons that he was under investigation.Trump said in a statement Wednesday that Gaetz did not ask him for a pardon. Some Trump associates have theorized in recent days that Gaetz's request for multiple pardons -- not just for himself -- was a move to disguise his own potential legal exposure, the newspaper said.A spokesperson for Gaetz, however, denied to the Times that his pardon request was related to the Justice Department investigation."Entry-level political operatives have conflated a pardon call from Representative Gaetz -- where he called for President Trump to pardon 'everyone from himself, to his administration, to Joe Exotic' -- with these false and increasingly bizarre, partisan allegations against him," the spokesperson told the outlet."Those comments have been on the record for some time, and President Trump even retweeted the congressman, who tweeted them out himself."A person briefed on the probe confirmed to CNN that federal authorities were investigating Gaetz as part of a broader probe into trafficking allegations against another Florida politician, an investigation that began in the closing months of the Trump-era Justice Department under Attorney General William Barr.CNN has previously reported that investigators are examining whether Gaetz's involvement with other young women broke federal sex-trafficking and prostitution laws, according to the person briefed on the probe and another person briefed on the matter. Investigators are also pursuing allegations from witnesses and other evidence that Gaetz may have used cash and drugs in his dealings with young women, the sources said.Gaetz has not been charged with any crimes and the investigation is still in its early stages, according to sources familiar with the matter.By Pamela Brown, Jim Acosta and Paul LeBlanc, CNN

PETE SANTILLI SHOW - #2319 - 9AM EASTERN WEDNESDAY  - FEBRUARY 11, 2021 LIVE BROADCAST: https://bit.ly/3cIDzN0  House Democrats’ move to frame Trump’s electoral fraud claims as incitement in their impeachment narrative created an opening for Trump’s defense to, in effect, put the 2020 election itself on trial before a nationwide viewing audience, as many of his supporters have urged.  Some Trump allies say his electoral fraud case has never received a full public airing due to legal challenges being tossed out on grounds of standing, timeliness and other technical issues rather than on merit.  But former Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz, who helped lead the successful defense that gained Trump’s acquittal in the 2020 impeachment trial, said this move would be “a terrible mistake” for Trump.  “It’s a trap that the Democrats are trying to set for the Trump lawyers,” Dershowitz told Just the News in an interview Wednesday. “It’s a trap to have them talk about electoral fraud, because if they do, they’ll lose [Senate Minority Leader Mitch] McConnell and other senators. ”The “absolute trap,” Dershowitz said, “was being set by Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.), who is leading the Democrats’ impeachment case. Raskin studied law under Dershowitz, who called his former student “a smart guy.” https://thepetesantillishow.com/archives/16916

The Phantom of America... does it end in a typical opera-type tragedy? Or do we achieve a happy ending?  Just a glance at many of the so-called news headlines today is enough to send a shiver down your spine. Take, for instance, the one in Politico, "Some Trump aides stuck with him till the end. Now they're screwed." At first, it was just referencing a cult; you were part of the Trump Cult club if you had any support for #45. Now it’s... we want to deprogram your mind and your soul because we know what is best for you! It seems if you're not a Marxist communist these days, then you're not part of the in-crowd. Who are these people exactly? Having worked with both sides of the aisle over the years as a businessman, Donald Trump knew the dirty little secrets of politicians from both sides of the aisle. Trump quickly became a serious threat to the establishment. You could say it's like watching a far-out Orwellian futuristic play that is so bizarre.... Malcolm will pick it up from there on today's episode of 'America the Opera.'

Despite the fact that we may never know fully what happened and why, there are some truths that cannot be denied. Today we talk about those truths and what they mean for us moving forward. Initial Observations and Thoughts:This is wrong: President’s and others’ language Action by people, including SOME Trump supporters 4 People dead US Capitol Police officer Brian Sicknick. Officer Sicknick, 42, died Thursday after he reportedly was bludgeoned with a fire extinguisher Wednesday when President Trump’s supporters (ny post) broke into the building in a failed attempt to block certification of President-elect Joe Biden’s victory. We have trolls online, you think they’re not here at this rally? Both sides have had agitators impacting their political events for the worse Think about the motivations of our big enemies: China, Russia, Iran, etc. Domestic groups: Antifa, BLM, KKK, many others Theres no reason for the political right to be behind this. Dems are sitting back in joy MEDIA are drooling: “TRUMP SUPPORTERS” not rioters and looters The hypocrisy is astonishing Our enemies, foreign and domestic, are overjoyed right now.Pundits comparing the police response: Always the race card (COLOR BLIND) For how long did DC burn under the thumb of BLM? A woman was intentionally shot and killed. She was a white, 35 yo veteran. If BLM had done this, it would have been a much more dangerous affair. Pick up a bowl and get in line as David Waldman and Greg Dworkin ladle up 2 hours of KITM for the soul: Winner, winner, chicken dinner! Joe Biden won! We might as well keep celebrating, as here it is, almost the middle of November, and there are still people just figuring this out. Some Trump followers are coming to grips with reality. Some are following the advice of their chickens and are moving on. Karl Rove understands the election won’t be overturned. Trump evangelical Robert Jeffress calls Joe Biden “president-elect”. Hugh Hewitt will not only tell you Biden’s the one, but he approves of Joe’s Chief of Staff pick, Ronald Klain. Oklahoma Republican Senator James Lankford says he will fight for Biden’s right to intelligence briefings. Even British Prime Minister Boris Johnson calls Donald Trump America's “previous president”. No chicken could be as dumb as a focus group undecided voter. Still — a vote is a vote. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Abigail Spanberger both found more votes than their Republican opponents, which is kind of how they won their elections. The middle of November is also about the time presidents pardon turkeys… and felons. Lame-duck Donald might try to save his own neck from the chopping block. It’s not a good time to be a Trump lawyer. Snell & Wilmer withdraw from their election lawsuit in Maricopa County, Arizona. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s goose might be cooked. James O’Keefe’s stool pigeons find GoFundMe isn’t chicken feed. Donald Trump’s next target to destroy is Fox News, but generally Donald needs to own a business to destroy it. The COVID-19 pandemic topped 140,000 cases yesterday, it will continue to become more horrible until the Biden administration can take over, and even then there will be heckling from the sidelines. There is no place to hide, and no “miracle cure”… inoculating against coronavirus is only one of the technological, logistical, and societal hurdles to come.

They pleaded ignorance, saying they'd not read the diplomat's damning statement. They condemned the Democrats' tactics as unfair. They complained the allegations against President Donald Trump rested on second- or third-hand evidence.Wednesday was a day of careful counter-argument by congressional Republicans, the day after America's top envoy in Ukraine gave House impeachment investigators an explosive, detailed roadmap of Trump's drive to squeeze that country's leaders for damaging information about his Democratic political rivals. Most Republicans were still standing by Trump, but in delicately calibrated ways after Tuesday's closed-door testimony by acting ambassador William Taylor . And as lawmakers struggled to balance support for Trump with uncertainty over what might still emerge, some were willing to acknowledge the strains they were facing.Asked if Taylor's testimony was a rough day for the White House and Republicans, No. 2 Senate GOP leader John Thune of South Dakota said, "Probably one of many.""Obviously, we have a lot of incoming right now," he said. "That's the nature of the beast."White House officials, who have been treating unified Republican support for Trump as a given, have grown increasingly fearful of defections in a potential impeachment vote by the Democratic House and even in an eventual trial in the Republican Senate. While officials don't believe there will be enough votes to remove the president, as Democrats hope, the West Wing believes more must be done to shore up party support to avoid embarrassment and genuine political peril. Some Trump allies also believe the White House must directly address the increasingly troubling revelations. They note that as more Trump appointees offer disparaging information to Congress, he will have increasing difficulty arguing simply that he is the target of a new "witch hunt."Several of these concerned supporters commented only on condition of anonymity to discuss the growing private worries.White House officials said they have added a regular call with select GOP lawmakers to discuss impeachment strategy, plus more meetings with Republicans at the White House and Camp David. They said communications teams from the White House and Congress coordinate three times a week with phone calls. But there still are complaints from Capitol Hill about a lack of a sophisticated messaging strategy. Two GOP aides, speaking on condition of anonymity to discuss internal tactics, said White House coordination has been insufficient. They cited a lack of daily emails or White House briefings of reporters from which lawmakers could take a daily messaging cue.Via tweet, Trump has asserted that witnesses haven't said the Ukrainians were aware that military aid was being withheld, thus clearing him of accusations that he was insisting on a tradeoff for political dirt."You can't have a quid pro quo with no quo," he quoted Rep. John Ratcliffe, R-Texas, as telling Fox News. However, The Associated Press and others have reported that Ukrainian leaders were indeed aware of the threat of losing aid that Ukraine needed to counter Russian military efforts. Closed-door testimony has shown that new Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy was worried that a White House meeting he desired with Trump was in jeopardy.Trump lashed out Wednesday at critical members of his own party, tweeting, "Never Trumper Republicans" are "in certain ways worse and more dangerous for our Country than the Do Nothing Democrats.""They are human scum!" he fumed.Reports of Taylor's testimony led most newscasts, websites and newspapers late Tuesday and Wednesday. But underscoring the desire of Republicans to avoid focusing on the allegations about Trump's actions, many asserted ignorance of what Taylor had said."I didn't see it, I didn't hear it and I'm not going to take a third-party description of it," said Sen. Jim Risch of Idaho.Taylor detailed conversations in which he said administration offic...

Some Trump cult members like the Nazi salute, Sieg Heil! The Nazi salute is now a criminal offense in Germany, Slovakia, and Austria. In Canada, the Czech Republic, France, the Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland, and Russia, the salute is illegal hate speech if used for propagating Nazi ideology. In America, no problem. Trump likes it too. The Nazi salute or Hitler salute ("Hitler Greeting") is a gesture that was used as a greeting in Nazi Germany. The salute is performed by extending the right arm from the neck into the air with a straightened hand. Usually, the person offering the salute would say "Heil Hitler!" (Hail Hitler!), "Heil, mein Führer!" (Hail, my leader!), or "Sieg Heil!" (Hail victory!). It was adopted in the 1930s by the Nazi Party to signal obedience to the party's leader, Adolf Hitler, and to glorify the German nation (and later the German war effort). The salute was mandatory for civilians, but was mostly optional for military personnel who retained the traditional military salute until shortly after the failed assassination attempt on Hitler in 1944.

The tumult at Rep. Jason Chaffetz' recent town hall meeting made national news, but it's not unusual of late. Marches and protests continue in the early days of the Trump presidency. In addition to the women's marches, and protests at airports, there is the Indivisible movement and unusual events on Capitol Hill, such as the recent controversy surrounding Senators Warren and McConnell. Some are comparing the current situation to the Tea Party movement or Occupy Wall Street. Some Trump supporters say that protesters are sore losers and that the president should be given the chance to implement the policies he ran and won on. John Oliver, from Last Week Tonight, warns against resistance and anger fatigue and urges protesters to not just march but to give financial support to organizations they believe in.
