Born in New York, some of his earliest musical influences included his mother's love for soca music and the distinct Caribbean rhythms of his culture. An appreciation of Jazz would be further guided by his father's expanding audiophile home system. Moving to Detroit in 1980, the start of the decade where Techno would take formation, put him at the center of music history while simultaneously working at the now famed nightclub “The Music Institute”Relocating to Atlanta to attend Morehouse College, he took it upon himself to bring more of the authentic House and Techno flavor to his new home, playing at numerous clubs and bars in the metro area. Eventually this led to DEEP, his aptly-named, game changing decade long Saturday night residency at local club MJQ, where he would bring guests such as King Britt, Steve “Silk” Hurley, Peven Everett, Kerri Chandler, Phil Asher and Joe Claussell. It is during the 2000s that Kai really sets his stride. 2002 saw the release of his first production, ‘The Kaizer EP', on Brett Dancer's seminal deep house label Track Mode. After a few releases on other labels such as Moodymann's Mahogani Music, Deep Explorer & Real Soon. A few years later he would co-found the Labor Day weekend outdoor event House In The Park with DJ Ramon Rawsoul which now has over 15,000 attendees.2008 saw the creation of his label NDATL and the first edition of his annual Deep Detroit. NDATL stands for the cities that have played a role in his musical development: New York, Detroit, ATLanta. Which is home to many of his own productions and A List producers such as Larry Heard, Mr. G, Theo Parrish & Mike Huckaby to name a few.e has recently curated the boutique Kai Alcé Eyewear line. “The Kaizer” never stops moving. A love of life, mixed with his flair for originality, willingness to experiment and devotion to the dancefloor has cemented his place as a pillar in American dance music history. Whatever comes next from Mr. Alcé, you can be assured that it will be classy, soulful, fulfilling and funky. www.ndatl.comRecorded on April 7, 2025 in Brooklyn, NY.
True House Stories Podcast with special guests by Lenny Fontana
TRUE HOUSE STORIES® W/ JOVONN # 121 INTERVIEWED BY LENNY FONTANA A native of Brooklyn and current resident of Queens (New York), Jovonn has been active in the music scene since the age of 10. Supported by his mother, a keyboard player; and father, a guitar/bass player, who were aspiring R&B singers; he was nurtured with a solid musical foundation. Jovonn began his career as a Hip-Hop DJ at the age of 14 and started spinning records at those infamous New York block parties of the 80s where he was introduced to the growing New York House music scene, hanging out in seminal Brooklyn clubs such as Sapphires, Club Saturn and Club Serene. Years later clubs such as The Loft, The Choice, Snobbusters and Zanzibar, solidified his full commitment to House music. Exploding onto the house scene in 1991 with his second release, “Turn and Runaway” on Warner Bros. Records, (which reached number 10 on the Billboard chart and catapulted Jovonn on to the global scene) He then went on to set up his first record label, Goldtone Records, in the early 1990's via Emotive Records (label compilation dropped on clone last year) and since then has produced more than 500 records in the House, R&B, Hip-Hop and Neo Soul genres, not to mention film scores and soundtracks although his true love has always been House music. A pioneer of the NYC, New Jersey, 90's house sound, he's produced many classics with releases such as as “Back In the Dark”, “Garage Shelter”, “I Can't Make Up My Mind”, “I Wanna Go To A Club” that all contain Jovonn's distinctive vocal delivery and trade mark production, as the man says himself ‘gritty sounds, hard kicks, jazzy chords and a phat bassline'. Other releases in Jovonn's impressive discography include ‘Something About this Love' (on WestEnd Records), “The Spirit” album (on Track Mode), and the “Blaque House” album on Code Red. More recently he's delivered releases on prestigious labels such as Dogmatik, Objektivity, Deeply Rooted House and Apollonia, showcasing his talents to a new audience of house music lovers. Jovonn launched his new label venture Body N'Deep in 2017 via clone distribution, dedicated to releasing the hottest deep and raw underground house tracks from Jovonn and his crew of producers and vocalists including tracks from legendary artists such as Karizma, Delano Smith and Louie Vega. His recent album ‘Timeless' was released and received great reviews from DJ's and Press, showcasing Jovonn's trademark new jersey sound. Look out for a busy release schedule throughout 2020 on Body N'Deep and a new Jovonn album later in the year.

Our Road to the Trials recaps continue with the extraordinary Olivia Baker. Olivia didn't have the lead-up to the Trials that she had hoped for but was holding out hope that it would all come together in Eugene. The women's 800m was maybe the deepest event at the entire meet and it was amazing to witness each round. Unfortunately, Olivia was unable to make the final after running well in a stacked opening heat. After the Trials Olivia stayed in racing condition and finished second at a loaded 800m race last week. This result has led to a series of decisions that Olivia must make in the coming days as she weighs her professional running future and a career in medicine. She shares her thought process about everything that has happened over the past six months and how she will make her next huge decision. The Road to the Trials Podcast is presented by COROS Wearables – makers of Performance GPS Watches that help athletes train to be their best. After months of following along with eight athletes as they prepared for the Olympic Trials, we are rounding out the series with recap episodes. First up - Frank Lara. Frank competed in the 10k gunning for top three and the Olympic standard. It was a daring run and one that showed the grit and toughness for which Frank is known. Since the Trials, Frank has stayed in top form. He just got runner-up in a stacked field at the Bix 7 Miler. An effort that showed, once again, that Frank Lara is just getting started and will be a force in American running for years to come. At the beginning of 2021 Abe Alvarado spoke about the importance of peaking at the right time. He and his Atlanta Track Club coaches were planning so that at the end of June he'd be ready to roll. Kudos to them as that is exactly what has happened. Abe is now on his way to Eugene with fantastic recent results in both the 800m and 1500m. In this episode, Abe talks about how he is feeling going into the Trials, his raceday routine, his mindset at the starting line, and how excited he is race both the 800m and 1500m. The Olympic Track Trials start this week and Olivia Baker is ready! In her final episode before she races the 800m in Eugene, Olivia talks about the last two races she participated in, how she is feeling, and what she is doing to prepare for race day. At the Platinum PT track meet in Massachusetts, Olivia was startled to discover that she simply didn't have her legs with 250 meters to go. She fell off the lead and finished way back from the leaders. With the Trials only four weeks away she leaned heavily on her support network. That group helped remind her that she's Olivia Freaking Baker and that she has put in the work to compete with the best. Sometimes the road to the Olympic Trials takes a detour and that is exactly what has happened for Keira D'Amato. Keira, one of the favorites in the 10k at the start of 2021, has been battling a hamstring injury for a few months. That injury seemed to be a minor hiccup - until it wasn't. Ultimately, it simply wouldn't allow Keira to do the hard training necessary to compete at the highest level. In this episode Keira opens us about injury, her thought process over the last six weeks, what it feels like to have a dream taken away when it felt so close, her vision for the future, and so much more. After months of training Dana Giordano is now fully in race mode. Those events meant racing the 5k, 1500m, and the road mile respectively. In this episode, Dana provides an open and honest analysis of each race and puts each on into the larger mosaic of her season and what she learned from those experiences. Olivia Baker is back on the show with some exciting news to discuss. Two week ago she qualified for the Olympic Trials in the 800m with a 2:01:38 at the prestigious Mt. Sac Relays! Her heat was absolutely loaded with talent (Kate Grace, Brenda Martinez, Ellie Baker, Rebecca Mehra, among others) and Olivia ran incredibly well. With that said, and as we discuss in this episode, as excited as she is for her trials qualifying time she is eager and ready for more with three more tune-up races before heading to Eugene. Tyler returns to the show to share some unfortunate news. I'll quote him from his recent Instagram post: "It's been a struggle trying to be a professional runner. Being able to only do two races and get sidelined for most of my rookie campaign, I wanted to bounce back in a big way from my injury and actually feel like a professional runner. Sadly, my struggles are continuing and I had to make the tough decision to end my season and ending my journey to this year's Olympic Trials. This was not an easy decision, but knowing I am early in this professional life, I want to get to the bottom of this injury and not prolong it any further. I'm bummed and frustrated that I have to deal with this injury when I was lucky enough to be healthy for my whole running career up to this point. But, this is part of my profession. Everyone has to deal with injuries at some point and so will I. Thank you for all the support." We talk all about the process that led to this decision, what his injury prognosis/diagnosis looks like moving forward, and a variety of other random topics that always come-up when Tyler and I get to talking. Dana takes us through what the trip to altitude is like, how it has/hasn't affected her training, and how she is preparing for the 5k. Dana also gives an honest account of what it is like to train and live with two other high level athletes and what it's like from a friendship and competition perspective. Finally, with the Sound Running track meet around the corner, she let's us know what she does to make sure she is ready to compete at the highest level on race day. Abe Alvarado is back with a full recap of his race experience at the Drake Relays. Abe competed in the USATF Road Mile Championship and the 1500m. Abe continues to improve week-after-week and these races, against some stiff competition, were no exception. In the road mile Abe was able to stay back during Jeff Theis's strong push from the gun. Once the field entered the stadium he used a big push over the final 300 meters to finish fourth in 4:00.40, holding off a late charge from Daniel Herrera. In the 1500m Abe ran in the top three (minus the pacer) for almost the entire race and crossed the line just steps behind winner Clayton Murphy finishing third in a time of 3:39.70. The Texas Relays is an historic event that has traditionally brought some of the best high school, university, and professional talent together in one meet. Last weekend Abe Alvarado and Olivia Baker both competed in the 800m and both finished in second after barely getting out-kicked coming down the homestretch. Their times, 1:48 and 2:03 respectively, were solid efforts (all-thing considered, as you'll hear in the episode) and portend a bright spring campaign. In this episode you'll hear how each of their races played out, what their focus was in training heading into the weekend, what their focus will be in April, and much more. Last weekend the Trials of Miles Racing put on the extraordinary Texas Qualifier meet in Austin, TX and it was a huge success. Citius Mag showcased the event through their YouTube channel and covered a truly elite collection of U.S. track talent. Both Keira D'Amato and Frank Lara participated, in the 10k and 5k respectively, and fared very well. The conditions in Austin were tough, the humidity had a huge effect - especially in the 10k, but Keira and Frank were up to the challenge. In this episode, they both detail there training leading into the Texas Qualifier and give a full breakdown of their races. Tyler Day is a professional runner HOKA Northern Arizona (NAZ) Elite. Day was planning on focusing on this year’s U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials in the 10k. As a Northern Arizona University sophomore, Day finished ninth at the 2017 USATF Outdoor Track and Field Championships at 10,000 meters. In 2018, he was ninth again–this time at 3,000 meters at the USATF Indoor Championships. A year later Day earned a spot on the U.S. team that competed in Lima, Peru at the Pan American Games where he was tenth over 5,000 meters. Last winter Day had a breakout season that included a personal best at 3,000 meters (7:45.70) as well as his American collegiate record at 5,000 meters (13:16.95)–the latter of which saw him go toe-to-toe with Olympic Silver Medalist Paul Tanui, losing by just one second. Right now Tyler is battling an injury while trying to recover quickly with plenty of time to earn his OTQ standard then makes waves at the Trials. A process that so many runners can relate to. Show #788 Good morning, good afternoon and good evening wherever you are in the world, welcome to EV News Daily for Sunday 24th May 2020. It’s Martyn Lee here and I go through every EV story so you don't have to. Thank you to MYEV.com for helping make this show, they’ve built the first marketplace specifically for Electric Vehicles. It’s a totally free marketplace that simplifies the buying and selling process, and help you learn about EVs along the way too. LORDSTOWN MOTORS CHIEF SAYS NEW FACTORY COULD PRODUCE 600,000 ELECTRIC VEHICLES A YEAR "Lordstown Motors is using the manufacturing delay caused by the coronavirus to reconfigure the Lordstown assembly plant it bought from General Motors last year to build its Endurance electric pickups trucks. It expects to manufacture 30 pre-production trucks before the end of this year." writes Steve Hanley for CleanTechnica: "CEO Steve Burns, who previously founded Workhorse, says he expects to build 20,000 electric trucks in 2021 and will hire 600 workers to make that possible, but that is just the tip of his ambitions. The Lordstown factory could build 400,000 cars a year at its peak, but Burns tells the Detroit Free Press that because electric vehicles have many fewer parts and components, it should be possible to build 600,000 electric trucks and SUVs there a year. Burns likes to say the Endurance has only four moving parts — the wheels. They will have the truck’s electric motors embedded into them, the first production vehicle to use in-wheel motors pioneered by Elaphe. Starting at $52,500, the Endurance will have 600 horsepower on tap, a range of 250 miles, a towing capacity of 7,500 lbs, room for 5, AC outlets for power tools at remote locations, and the ability to recharge its battery to 95% in 30 minutes using a Level 3 DC fast charger." https://cleantechnica.com/2020/05/25/lordstown-motors-chief-says-new-factory-could-600000-electric-vehicles-a-year/ BRITAIN'S LARGEST SOLAR FARM POISED TO BEGIN DEVELOPMENT IN KENT "Britain’s largest solar farm, capable of generating enough clean electricity to power 91,000 homes, is poised to receive the greenlight from ministers this week." according to The Guardian: "The subsidy-free renewables park is expected to reach a capacity of 350MW by installing 880,000 solar panels – some as tall as buses – across 364 hectares (900 acres) of farmland in the Kent countryside. The UK’s growing fleet of solar panels has produced record levels of clean electricity in recent weeks, reaching fresh highs of 9.68GW last month and helping the UK energy system to its longest stretch without coal-fired power since the Industrial Revolution. The renewables industry believes the UK’s solar power capacity could rise to 27GW by 2030 after the UK government dropped a block which prevented solar farms and onshore wind projects from competing in subsidy contract auctions." https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2020/may/24/britains-largest-solar-farm-poised-to-begin-development-in-kent UK CHARGING PARTNERSHIP LIBERTY CHARGE MAKES DEBUT "The UK-based Liberty Global Ventures and Zouk Capital have announced a joint venture partnership named Liberty Charge. The partnership will roll out on-street charging points for electric vehicles in residential areas across the UK." reports electrive: "A partnerhship with Virgin Media supports Liberty Global’s efforts in the space of charging infrastructure, as the Virgin Media Park and Charge (VPACH) project aims to deploy 1,200 charging sockets across the country by early 2021." https://www.electrive.com/2020/05/23/uk-charging-partnership-liberty-charge-makes-debut/ BUYING A CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED EV MAKES A LOT OF SENSE "Choosing a certified pre-owned (CPO) car is one way to mitigate the risk of buying a used vehicle. The CPO system can also be a good way to buy used electric vehicles. Automaker-sponsored, dealership-administered CPO programs offer extended warranties for the electric powertrain components, which could provide some peace of mind for owners who are spending big money on an unfamiliar technology. Everything we say here about EVs applies to hybrids as well." says Car & Driver: "Most companies that build and sell electrified vehicles have a separate warranty to cover the battery and electric motor. The industry has mostly coalesced around an eight-year/100,000-mile warranty for new vehicles with EV powertrains, though of course there are overachievers: Hyundai offers a 10-year/100,000-mile warranty for its new hybrids and EVs.Nissan said in 2018 that Leaf batteries would last an estimated 10-12 years longer than the cars they power, and Tesla says it is working on a battery that will last a million miles. When’s the last time you saw a passenger car with that many miles on the clock?" https://www.caranddriver.com/shopping-advice/a32583041/buy-cpo-hybrid-ev/ TESLA LAUNCHES FALLOUT SHELTER IN-CAR VIDEO GAME AND MORE WITH NEW UPDATE "Tesla is starting to push a new software update that includes the video game Fallout Shelter, Tesla Theater improvements, and more." reports electrek: "Now we learn that Tesla is starting to deploy the video game in its vehicles as part of a new 2020.20 software update currently being pushed to early access owners. Last year, Tesla added Xbox controller support for its arcade game. You are going to need an Xbox controller with a USB cable. Update: Tesla just told us that Fallout Shelter currently doesn’t support an Xbox controller. Unlike Tesla’s racing game, which works with a controller, you can only use the touchscreen for Fallout Shelter." Tesla say: "Fallout Shelter puts you in control of a state-of-the-art underground Vault from Vault-Tec. Build the perfect Vault, keep your Dwellers happy, and protect them from the dangers of the Wasteland. With this release, you can now play, pause, and skip video playback with your steering wheel controls while using Theater Mode. As usual, Theater Mode is only available while your vehicle is in ‘PARK.’" https://electrek.co/2020/05/21/tesla-fallout-shelter-cars-update/ 400 MILES IN TESLA MODEL S RAVEN From the latest Bjorn Myland video: Model S LR Raven Dry 16 degrees Michelin PS4 245/45-19 Speed 90 km/h 144 Capacity 92,7kWh 644 Km / 400 miles TESLA BAKES IN MODEL 3 PERFORMANCE UPGRADE PACKAGE "Tesla has decided to bake in the Model 3 Performance’s Performance Upgrade Package (PUP) for each order of the premium all-electric sedan. With this, the electric car maker has taken yet another step towards streamlining its vehicle production, while doing away with vehicles that were dubbed by the community as “sleeper” Performance Model 3s. " says Teslarati: "The update to Tesla’s online configurator appears to have happened recently, considering that the order page last Sunday still had options to select the Performance Upgrade Package for every Model 3 Performance order. The PUP is a free option, and it includes 20” performance wheels, performance brakes, a carbon fiber spoiler, lowered suspension, aluminum allow pedals, Track Mode, and increased top speed from 145 mph to 162 mph. While the PUP was free, some buyers of the Model 3 Performance opt to forego the upgrade for the sake of more range" Range up from 299 to 322. 18" Aero wheels. The UK configurator has always been like that. https://www.teslarati.com/tesla-model-3-performance-upgrade-package-update/ COULD TESLA REVEAL A 700-MILE MODEL 3? "With Tesla Battery Day reportedly around the corner now, the focus of late has been on the million-mile battery that Tesla may well reveal. While such a battery would surely be big news, what if Tesla has something else up its sleeve, like a mega energy-dense battery that will extend range significantly while at the same time dropping production costs? This would for certain be even bigger news than a battery that lasts a million miles." says Yahoo News: "Even today, the Model S goes 400 miles on a charge and that's with battery tech that in some ways dates back to 2012, so imagine what would happen with today's breakthrough battery tech in the Model S. One thing is for certain, all eyes will be on what Tesla reveals on Battery Day, which will likely occur as a two-part event with the first coming very soon:" https://uk.news.yahoo.com/could-tesla-reveal-700-mile-170000152.html QUESTION OF THE WEEK ANSWERS JAN from eMOBILITY NORWAY I think, instead of giving up, Dyson should have invited partners to the project or rewrite the scope. The result was not as first planed, especially the price was much too high for a big market. Probably the most considerable cost was the battery as the range was close to 1000km. That is four times more than needed for most users. That range tells me that they wanted to make a replacement of a fossil car, instead of creating a modern EV. What if Dyson had made the battery smaller to reduce the price? Or they could have made it modular, giving the customers the possibility to choose the size depending on the need and wallet. RAJEEV NARAYAN As great as it would have been to see the Dyson EV released, they probably made the right decision not to. At that price point it would have been a hard sell, as they lack the branding that Porsche or MB has. I hope, however, that they don’t give up. They could license the MEB platform, use existing battery tech from the likes of SKI or LG, that is more than good enough and come out with a compelling EV and acquire experience. Then, someday, if their solid state batteries pan out, who knows what they could bring to market. AJ TARQUINO, OHIO USA I’m sure there are hundreds of customers that would/could afford this vehicle. With improvements that are being made with range and longevity of the battery, shouldn’t this help to drive the cost down on the Dyson automobile and make it affordable for more people ?? Couldn’t Dyson spring off their expensive platform, like Tesla has, to make a lower cost production model that would/could draw the interest of the average buyer of EV customers? LEE BROWN, SCOTLAND Yes Dyson should have continued their research, they are pioneers in battery technology. All the associated costs with EV R&D would have come down in price over time and they could have then produced a smaller, more affordable EV. I’ve read they had quite a lost of grant money given to them by the UK Government - will he have to pay that back now? JOHN FRUHWIRTH I'm all for Elon's corporate mission statement which goes something like this.. "Accelerate the transition of transportation to renewable energy". As such, it does not make sense to only make EVs as expensive toys for the rich. If we are to make a significant progress in transitioning to a cleaner, greener planet then it is essential that EVs reach price parity with ICE vehicles. Not only personal vehicles but ALL commercial/industrial vehicles need to be converted to become BEVs. BRENTON POTTS I am very disappointed that Dyson cancelled their EV. I sure wouldn't be able to afford one but I reason that Tesla's first roadster was exclusively for affluent enthusiasts and look where they are now. I believe that the brains and design knowhow behind Dyson could have brought something really positive to the EV space that would eventually trickle down to something I could afford to dream about. 2 positive takeaways though, they released their progress so other EV makers can be inspired and James Dyson said he is not against other EV makers using his solid state batteries in their cars! JEFF MURRAY As far as Dyson goes, I think Tesla is a good example where they started out high priced and used that knowledge to be able to lower the prices in later generations. I think that a company just getting into the market is almost going to have to use that strategy, especially if they expect to have any kind of quality. Even if they made a good affordable product first, the low price may very well be seen as “cheap” as opposed to good value. That said, I highly doubt Dyson was in any “danger” of making an affordable product, given their prices on other products. PHILIP TRAUTMAN I was sad to see that the Dyson effort failed. From the outside it looked great. My wife and I could use an EV with that form factor (at a reasonable price.) However, at this point in the maturation of the EV market, I think the biggest challenge is perceived price. Most people around here (Southern Oregon) seem to think that only rich people can afford an EV. That needs to change, and more high-profile announcements of high-priced EVs isn’t going to help. Assuming people were paying attention to the Dyson news at all, I’m sure the announcement that they couldn’t build their car at a reasonable price also increased this perception. I want to see EVs continue to fill all the niches in the automotive world (especially a van with decent range), but at this point some high-profile affordable options would help. We’ll see how the VW rollout goes! One of the things I like about your podcast is that you talk about all the EVs out there from halo cars to compact cars. Show #719 Good morning, good afternoon and good evening wherever you are in the world, welcome to EV News Daily for Saturday 7th March 2020. It’s Martyn Lee here and I go through every EV story to save you time. Thank you to MYEV.com for helping make this show, they’ve built the first marketplace specifically for Electric Vehicles. It’s a totally free marketplace that simplifies the buying and selling process, and help you learn about EVs along the way too. A new Premium Partner and it’s Bill Woeste. From Bill: “I am the owner of the 2 dealerships in Cincinnati, OH that just became sponsors of your great show. Beside Porsche and Audi I also have Toyota, Honda, Maserati, Alfa Romeo and Volvo. My first EV is my Audi etron that I love and we just received our first Taycan for customers to test drive this month. By the way you did a story last year around August about free EV parking in the City of Cincinnati that I went and got my pass. I wouldn't have known about it with out being a listener of your podcast.” Welcome to PREMIUM PARTNER PORSCHE OF THE VILLAGE CINCINNATI Welcome to PREMIUM PARTNER AUDI CINCINNATI EAST 2021 AUDI E-TRON GT SPIED LOOKING JUST LIKE THE CONCEPT "Despite having seen the concept over a year ago in L.A., and even driving it, it's a bit surprising that this is the first time one of our spy photographers has caught a glimpse of the Audi E-Tron GT." says Joel at Autoblog: "Just like the show car, this E-Tron GT is super low, from its nose to its roof. Conventional pull-style door handles are fitted, rather than the hidden ones on the concept and the nearly flush ones on the E-Tron GT's cousin, the Porsche Taycan. The hood no longer has an extractor vent, though the shape is roughly intact. The front fascia looks smoothed over, too, with smaller grille openings. The wheels of course are a bit smaller, and they have a more flat and likely more aerodynamic design. It will also feature the Taycan's 800-volt charging capability for extremely fast recharges." https://www.autoblog.com/2020/03/04/2021-audi-etron-gt-spied/ TESLA TRACK MODE V2 RELEASE "Tesla has started rolling out software 2020.8.1 that includes Track Mode V2 for Model 3, third-party charging stations, improvements to Model S and Model X regenerative braking, and a host of other features." reports Teslarati: "Track Mode V2 gives Model 3 owners the option of customizing settings for Handling Balance, Stability Assist, Regenerative Braking, among others. Tesla Raj, upon getting the latest software update, tested the Track Mode V2 on the Model 3 and switched the car to rear-wheel drive with no stability assist. Track Mode allows owners to create 20 profiles that perfectly suits their preferences and driving scenarios. Users can also customize the settings for a specific track. Track Mode V2 also allows you to monitor the status of the car’s motors, brakes, and tires. The latest firmware also allows one to see a real-time accelerometer via the G-meter. Likewise, the map now includes a Lap Timer. Model 3 owners can also save a video and other data of their driving sessions while on Track Mode." From Tesla: Only Model S and X Introducing a new navigation system for your vehicle that provides improved routes, more accurate arrival times, and a more responsive instrument cluster view to better display upcoming maneuvers. For China: This release also includes new maps on the touchscreen. You can now view the maps in satellite view and see nearby points of interest. DRIVING VISUALIZATION IMPROVEMENTS This has been added for more regions, previously just the US. The driving visualization can now display additional objects which include stop lights, stop signs and select road markings. THIRD-PARTY CHARGING STATIONS Only vehicles in California. Now you can find third-party charging options with your in-car navigation – select sites in the San Francisco Bay Area are available now with additional locations across the US coming soon. REGEN Only Model S and X Regenerative braking force has been increased to improve the driving experience and increase how much energy is actively returned to the battery when slowing down. https://www.teslarati.com/tesla-track-mode-v2-release-notes/ LUCID UNVEILS SALES & SERVICE MODEL "Lucid Motors will open its first sales studio at its headquarters in Newark, California as part of its overarching direct-to-consumer sales plan. Lucid has plans for 9 studios initially, with many locations already under construction." reports Kyle at CleanTechnica: "The new showrooms will give Lucid direct access to consumers to truly convey the essence of the technology, innovation, and luxury the brand seeks to embody. The first 9 studios are slated to open in 2020, where customers will be able to get what is perhaps their first exposure to the Lucid brand in real life. The new studios will also serve as the home of Lucid’s first service centers. The company expects to leverage the integrated vehicle data system for over-the-air updates and remote diagnostics, and the physical locations will fill in the gaps for all other services required for Lucid’s vehicles." https://cleantechnica.com/2020/03/06/lucid-unveils-sales-service-model-with-first-location-to-open-in-2020/ VW ID.3 SPECS ID.3 Pure - 45kWh, 126 hp or 150 hp, 330 km WLTP, < €30k ID.3 Pro - 58kWh, 146 hp or 204 hp, 420 km WLTP, ~ €35k, 100kW charging ID.3 Pro S - 77kWh, 204 hp, 550 km WLTP, (Price TBC), 100kW charging PLUG-IN EV CAR SALES MORE THAN DOUBLED IN UK IN FEBRUARY 2020 "Plug-in electric car sales in the UK increased in February by 117% year-over-year to 4,566 new registrations, exceeding conventional hybrids (4,154 and 71.9% increase)." reports InsideEVs: "As the overall number of new registrations went down by 2.9% to 79,594, the market share for plug-ins grew to an outstanding 5.74% (one per 17.4 new cars). BEVs 2,508 (up 243% year-over-year) at market share of 3.2% PHEVs: 2,058 (up 50% year-over-year) at market share of 2.6% Total: 4,566 (up 117% year-over-year) at market share of 5.9% In the comments: David Parker says: "As a Brit living in France I have to point out how far behind the Brits are so far this year. UK and France are pretty much the same population, same GDP, same size car markets. UK sales are up on 2019 but 6,500 BEV versus 20,400 BEV in first two months of the year in France..It’s all happening here folks!" https://insideevs.com/news/402574/plugin-car-sales-uk-february-2020/ VOLVO OPENS BATTERY ASSEMBLY LINE AT BELGIAN FACTORY "Volvo has inaugurated a new battery assembly line at its Belgian manufacturing plant in Ghent, Belgium." reports Carscooops: "Volvo says the updated Ghent factory will provide important lessons to the brand’s other manufacturing sites in terms of process optimization and efficiency. Volvo will source its batteries from CATL of China and South Korea’s LG Chem. The company’s first all-electric model was unveiled in October last year in the form of the XC40 Recharge. The SUV uses a pair of electric motors delivering a combined 402 hp and features a 78 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that provides more than 249 miles (400 km) of range on the WLTP cycle." Meanwhile Automotive News Europe pointed out: "Ghent plant boss Stefan Fesser promised a "flawless launch" of battery system production at a new 5,000-square-meter facility, which is on the same campus as Volvo's vehicle assembly plant. Volvo's new model launch manager, Peter Durie, also said that there has been no indication that LG Chem would have any issues supplying the factory, which starts test production on Monday. The aim is to have the line ready for serial output in time for the XC40 Recharge's start of production." https://www.carscoops.com/2020/03/volvo-opens-battery-assembly-line-at-belgian-factory/ https://europe.autonews.com/automakers/volvo-promises-flawless-launch-first-battery-line-despite-recent-cell-bottlenecks LG CHEM ACQUIRES NEW FACILITY FOR MORE BATTERY PRODUCTION IN POLAND "LG Chem, which operates a huge lithium-ion battery factory in Wroclaw, Poland, recently acquired a nearby Turkish television assembly plant." says InsideEVs: "The 223,000 square-meter site was purchased for about $31.4 million Vestel according to media reports and will be re-purposed to support LG Chem's battery production for electric cars. LG Chem already operates several plants globally and is in progress of expanding them (or adding new ones) to keep pace with surging demand. "Currently, LG Chem has five battery plants in South Korea, China, the United States and Poland, with a combined capacity of 70 gigawatt-hours. The South Korean chemical giant plans to raise its capacity to 100 GWh, enough to supply batteries to 1.6 million electric vehicles, by the end of this year."" https://insideevs.com/news/402035/lg-chem-acquired-new-facility-in-poland/ BMW IX3 NOT DUE FOR U.S. "The BMW iX3, made by joint venture BMW Brilliance Automotive in Shenyang, China, features the fifth generation of BMW's eDrive technology, with the drive unit combining the electric motor, system electronics and transmission into a central housing, reducing its weight and footprint." write Automotive News: "BMW has iced plans to bring its first electric crossover to the U.S. for now. The BMW iX3 was scheduled to arrive in the first half of 2021. "At this time we do not have plans to bring the iX3 to the U.S. market," a spokesman confirmed to Automotive News, declining to elaborate on the reasons for the decision. Automakers face hefty fines in Europe next year if they fail to cut their fleet CO2 emissions to an average 95 grams per kilometer. As a result, the German automakers are recalibrating their EV ambitions in the U.S. — diverting production supply to markets that are more receptive to the new technology. Manufactured in China, the iX3 is powered by a 74-kWh lithium ion battery. That is smaller than the beefier batteries in luxury electric crossovers currently on U.S. roads. The BMW iX3 is tailored for the China market, where extended range is not a customer priority." As for availability: "The iX3 is expected to make its market debut by the end of 2020, but since it’s being built in China, it will most likely reach European customers in 2021. It will first be available in Europe, where it will cost around €70,000." reports Motor1 https://www.autonews.com/sales/finicky-american-demand-changes-path-bmws-crossover-ev https://uk.news.yahoo.com/production-spec-bmw-ix3-revealed-112000938.html NEW QUESTION OF THE WEEK The MYEV.com Question Of The Week… I’m waving a magic wand and installing a charge point of any speed or type free of charge for you – what is it, where and why. How to Make the Best Mutton Snapper Fishing Leader for targeting Mutton Snappers in the Florida Keys Mutton Snapper Fishing Rods In my opinion the absolute best Mutton Snapper Fishing Rods are Spiral Wrapped Fishing Rods that are light weight. With a Spiral Wrapped fishing rod an angler can now fight larger fish with less fatigue over long periods of time and worry less about the pulling the hook. Spiral Wrapped Fishing Rod Advantages Designed to reduce torque Will not twist under heavy load-perfect balance Extremely stable How to Select a Muttons Snapper Fishing Rod Listed below are the Spiral Wrapped fishing rods I use on Mutton Snapper fishing charters in the Florida Keys. These rods are very light, extremely strong and have the perfect action for setting the hook on large Mutton Snappers and have enough backbone for fighting large Mutton Snappers. Both types of fishing rods listed below are custom made by Adrenaline Custom Fishing Rods. Rods I Recommend for Mutton Snapper Custom Made by Adrenaline Fishing Rods 6’6 40/80 Medium Fast Action Heavy Power Spiral Wrapped Rod. *Fuji Silicon Nitride Guides. These fuji guides are heavy duty. This rod has a fast action tip to reduce pulling hooks. This is a thick rod with a lot of backbone. Cost-$219.00 6’6 30/80 Medium Fast Action X-Heavy Power-Graphite Composite (Ultra Light) *Fuji Silicon Nitride Guides. This rod is extremely light, has a fast action tip to reduce pulling hooks and thinner than the rod I described above. Cost-$259.00 *The guides on my Mutton Snappers rods are all high quality Fuji Silicon Nitride Guides. These guides are larger in diameter so when I reel swivels through these guides I am not concern about breaking them. If you have a favorite rod you like bottom fishing with, but the rod does not have heavy duty Fuji Silicon Nitride Guides, I recommend that you have your the guides replaced with larger diameter Fuji Silicon Nitride Guides. Most custom rod shops will do this for you. I highly recommend Fuji Silicon Nitride Guides. How to Make a Removable Weight for Mutton Snapper Fishing https://vimeo.com/362443286 How to Make the Best Mutton Snapper Fishing Leader Balloon Fisher King balloon clips can be a highly effective quick and easy, adjustable down bait weight clip for bottom fishing, suspending a bait at specific depth in the water column for slow trolling live or dead bait. I personally like to use an 18 pound 4 inch zip-tie to connect a bank sinker to the Balloon Fisher King pressure clip. I slide a small zip-tie though the groove in the clip and attach the clip to a bank sinker weight, then clip off the tag end of the zip-tie. I like to use a zip-tie because I want the weight to break way in the event it gets caught on the bottom with a big fish. The Best Mutton Snapper Fishing Reels I prefer using the Shimano Talica 20 and 16 2-Speed fishing reels for Mutton Snapper fishing in the Florida Keys. All the reels I use use for Mutton Snapper fishing are spooled with 30 pound Power Pro Braid. Why do I Spool My Reels with 30 Pound Braid 30 pound braided line spooled on my Mutton Snappers reels gives me a lot of line capacity. This allows us to fish great depths at ease using smaller light weight reels. When we hook large fish like wahoo, I have plenty of line capacity on the smaller reel, therefore I don’t have to worry about getting spooled. Because the 30 pound braided line has a extremely small diameter it cuts through the water and finds the bottom pretty easily in all types of current, wind and sea conditions. How to Make the Best Mutton Snapper Fishing Leader Mutton Snapper Wind-On Light Tackle Leader Step 1 Double the 30 pound braid main line using a Spider Hitch knot. Spider Hitch to Double the 30 pound Braid Line, why do I use it? A Spider Hitch Knot is simpler to tie than the Bimini Twist Knot. By doubling the 30 pound braided line using a Spider Hitch Knot I increase the breaking strength of the 30 pound braided line by 20-30% or more than its manufactured rating. Clients can now fight larger fish they hook while bottom fishing with higher drag settings. Step 2 Tie a 2 ft. piece of 40 pound fluorocarbon to the 30 pound braid double line using a Bristol Knot. This short piece of 40 pound fluorocarbon leader is used for attaching the removable in-line sinker. *The importance using this short Piece of 40 FluorocarbonPound Leader. I have found that the standard Balloon Fisher king clips work very well when pressure clipped to 40 pound fluorocarbon line, but I do struggle a little when I attaching these pressure clips to fluorocarbon line greater than 40 pound fluorocarbon leader. Fluorocarbon leader line has no stretch and is capable of handling greater weight than monofilament fishing line or braid making it perfect for attaching heavy inline weights for Mutton Snapper fishing in the Florida Keys. Another benefit of this short connection is that it acts a “buffer” connection between the braided line and the long leader connection. For example, when I need to replace the long leader line for any reason, I simply cut it at the swivel connection and re-tie quickly. A Bristol Knot has a smaller profile than most and passes easily through my rod guides with ease. I get an extremely strong knot when I tie this short piece of 40 lb. fluorocarbon line to the 30 pound double braided main line using the Bristol Knot. Fluorocarbon does have a smaller line diameter than monofilament so it makes it very easy for me to attach the Balloonfisher King removable inline weight to the short piece of fluorocarbon, more so than when I used to use monofilament. This piece of short piece of 40 lb. fluorocarbon takes some abuse so I recommend checking frequently. *I will be testing a short piece of heavy hollow core braid line over the next couple month that may potentially replace this short piece of 40 pound Flurocarbon similar to the removable planer bridal sold by tackleroom.com. Step 3 Measure out 70-100 feet of 30 pound fluorocarbon leader then connect this long leader piece of 30 pound fluorocarbon leader line The Main reason why I use Fluorocarbon leader is not only for stealth Fluorocarbon line has incredible abrasion resistance, it withstands the abuse of rigorous bottom fishing for Mutton Snappers in the Florida Keys and has minimal stretch. Step 4 Connect the short piece of 40 pound fluorocarbon (created in Step 2 ) to the 30 pound fluorocarbon longer leader (created in Step 3) via a 75 pound Diamond Brand Ball Bear Swivel using and improved clinch knot. The Diamond Ball Bearing Swivel does the following: Prevents the Balloon Fisher King In-Line Weight from sliding down the line onto the hook. Diamond Ball Bearings swivels significantly reduce line twists compared to all others I have used to date. Step 5 Tie on a hook-I use circle hooks (sizes 2, 3, or 4 inline or offset) I use either Gamakatsu or Owner brand. Size the hooks appropriately for the live bait. I prefer using an improved clinch knot for tying hooks to the terminal end of the main leader. Step 6 Hook the Live Bait-When power drifting or slow trolling the bottom for Mutton Snappers using the engine, I always hook the live bait through the nostrils. I then peg the live bait to the hook using a Bait Button this help prevent live the bait from wrapping over on itself and fouling. Step 7 Set the Leader with the live bait-When deploying the rig, put the reel in free spool with the clicker on. Power the boat forward a little to get the bait swimming behind the boat, get the leader stretched out and stop at the swivel. I use my Rhodan Trolling 120 Volt Trolling motor in Track Mode to power the boat hands free using the remote while setting the lines. This allows me to make sure the baits are set correctly. The Rhodan Trolling Motor gives me a signifiant advantage especially on days with light current and no wind. Step 8 Once leader is complete stretched out (make sure the bait is swimming nice behind the boat) attach the the Balloon Fisher King pressure clip with weight directly above the Diamond Ball Bearing swivel. Attach the clip directly above the swivel that connects the short piece of 40 pound fluorocarbon to the 30 pound fluorocarbon. Power boat forward and send the bait to the bottom slowly while the boat is moving forward. Do not set the bait like you are in a race or you asking for a large tangle. Step 9 Put the Mutton Snapper in the Boat When the fish comes to the top I have the client walk up the rail, then I come in and quickly remove the inline weight. One the clip is removed the swivel is small enough to reel through the rod guides to the reel the fish all the way to the boat. Set the Rod in the Rod holder and start fishing and let the rod holder and boat hook hook the fish. Show #569 Good morning, good afternoon and good evening wherever you are in the world, welcome to EV News Daily for Tuesday 3rd September 2019. Wow a new PATRON signing up as new PARTNER GARETH HAMER! Thank you Gareth that's incredibly generous. SOUTH KOREA ANNOUNCES NEW EV SUBSIDIES FOR 2020 "In the coming year, the South Korean government will provide the equivalent of around 900 million dollars in subsidies for e-mobility. The money will not only be used to subsidise electric and fuel cell cars, but also the associated infrastructure." says Chris Randall for electrive: "The goal is to increase the number of battery electric vehicles on South Korean roads by 71,000 next year and fuel cell vehicles by 10,000. In concrete terms, BEVs will be subsidised by the state government with 8 million won (approx. 6,600 US dollars) in the coming year, each new FCEV will even be subsidised with 22.5 million won (approx. 18,600 US dollars). The significantly stronger support of the FCEV fits into the strategy of the South Korean government that sees hydrogen as a green and promising economic sector. In January this year, the government announced its intention to have 80,000 fuel cell cars on South Korean roads by 2022." https://www.electrive.com/2019/09/02/south-korea-announces-ev-subsidies/ BY 2023, MINI PLANS ADDITIONAL ELECTRIC VEHICLES "It’s hard to argue against the fact that the MINI brand has been extremely successful under BMW’s leadership. Ever since its rebirth in 2000, the MINI brand has grown to become one of the most important premium brands in the world, delivering impressive sales for the BMW Group." according to BMW Blog: "The MINI E was BMW’s first electric car made available to customers, and while it ran only as a pilot in the US and Europe, it paved the way for the BMW i3. Therefore, it’s hard to believe that it took MINI another 8 years to come up with another fully-electric model. Automobile Magazine reports that by 2023, we should expect three additional MINI electric vehicles. The EVs in question are rumored to be a “super-short-wheelbase MiniMINI, a more compact and prettier replacement for the mainstay three-door version, and a MINI crossover. All three are said to be FWD, use a skateboard-style chassis, and offer a choice of 35- or 50-kWh battery packs." https://www.bmwblog.com/2019/09/01/report-by-2023-mini-plans-additional-electric-vehicles/ WILL MILLIONS OF ELECTRIC VEHICLES DISRUPT GERMANY'S POWER GRID? "Over the coming decade, Germany's electricity grid will need upgrades to enable it to recharge tens of millions of electric cars. Rather than being worried, experts seem to be looking forward to the technical challenge." says dw.com: "On a quiet suburban residential street in Ostfildern, a town a few miles southeast of Stuttgart, 10 households are participating in an experiment that will help shape the future of e-mobility in Germany. The point of the 18-month experiment is to find out what happens when all the households on a typical German street, all of them on the same electricity circuit, drive electric cars. It's a model of the future. How do e-car recharging patterns typically unfold over the course of a week? When do peak loads occur? What kinds of battery storage solutions might be useful for stabilizing grid supply and demand? A 22-kW peak-capacity EV recharging unit was installed in a wall box at each house, and each household was given an e-car for the test's duration, with five VW e-Golf, two BMW i3, and three Renault Zoe e-cars in the mix. In addition, there's a Tesla Model S 75D, which each household will drive for three weeks." https://www.dw.com/en/will-millions-of-electric-vehicles-disrupt-germanys-power-grid/a-50258980 THIS IS THE BEGINNING OF THE END FOR THE BMW I8 "This, ladies and gentlemen, is the BMW i8 Ultimate Sophisto Edition – and it makes us really very sad indeed." says TopGear: "The principle source of our sorrow comes from the fact BMW has confirmed the Ultimate Sophisto Edition will be one of the last i8s ever, with production of the hybrid sports car coming to an end for good in April 2020. This is a real shame. The i8 remains a fantastic car, especially after its mid-life update. With a combined 374bhp from its electric motor and 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol engine the numbers aren’t huge, but the ride quality and feel are fantastic – plus, it’s just so different to anything else on the market. You’ll also notice a BMW i3S sneaking about in some of the photos above. That too is in the black/copper paint scheme, but for some reason is called the ‘Edition RoadStyle’. There are also no mechanical changes from the standard i3S, so we won’t bore you with any more details. For now, let’s stick to mourning the impending death of the i8. A carbon-tubbed, hybrid sports car that would do 0-62mph in just over four seconds and still offer 20-25 miles of electric range. Yep, we’ll miss it." https://www.topgear.com/car-news/electric/beginning-end-bmw-i8 TESLA MODEL 3 TRACK MODE: DRAINED 250 MILES OF RANGE IN 30 MINUTES "When Tesla first announced Track Mode for the Model 3, it appeared to be a pretty big deal. However, with Tesla, some topics stay hot for a long time, there's lots of talk from owners, we receive plenty of information, and CEO Elon Musk speaks to the topic repeatedly on Twitter. Other Tesla announcements seem to come and go rather quickly." reports InsideEVs: "In a recent video by YouTube channel Tesla Driver, we see extensive footage of a Model 3 Performance racing at Castle Combe Circuit in Wiltshire, England. The driver engages Track Mode and powers through a whopping 250 miles of range in a mere 30 minutes. While this sounds like a ton of energy use, it's not really that big of a deal. For ease of comparing, let's say the car used its entire battery capacity in 30 minutes (even though the Model 3 Performance has a range over 300 miles). People who spend time racing gas cars can tell you that it's not uncommon to get 4 to 8 mpg. Let's say a gas tank holds some 12 to 20 gallons. While this is far from scientific, in the best-case scenario (8 mpg and a 20-gallon tank), you'll be filling up after 160 miles." https://insideevs.com/news/367599/video-tesla-model-3-track-mode-burns-range/ DEUTSCHE POST SEES INTEREST FROM POTENTIAL PARTNERS FOR EV "Deutsche Post has received expressions of interest from potential partners for StreetScooter, its electric van business, board member Tobias Meyer said on Friday." and reported by Autonews Europe: "The German postal services group has produced 10,000 StreetScooters but is shying away from making large investments in StreetScooter or taking on risks tied to large-scale vehicle production. Deutsche Post has also installed charging over 13,000 posts”. https://europe.autonews.com/automakers/deutsche-post-sees-interest-potential-partners-ev QUESTION OF THE WEEK The MYEV.com Question Of The Week. Well good morning, good afternoon and good evening, wherever you are in the world, hello and welcome to the Monday 23rd July edition of EV News Daily. It’s Martyn Lee here with the news you need to know about electric cars and the move towards sustainable transport. MICROLINO EV LOOKS POISED TO HIT EUROPEAN ROADS SOON "You may soon see these little electric runabouts flitting around European cities. The flat-out-adorable Microlino is a modern riff on BMW's Isetta, the three-wheeled, front-door bubble car from the 1950s" writes Chris Paukert at cnet.com: "Micro Mobility Systems AG, the Swiss electric scooter company behind the project, has announced that the under-8-foot-long Microlino has just passed the final tests for EU homologation. That's right, it's now road-legal in Europe. The version powered by the 8kWh battery achieved 78 miles in testing, while the 14.4kWh version managed over 125 miles. Those may not seem like particularly impressive range figures, but they should be plenty for this strictly city-minded vehicle." RENAULT ZOE CLIMBS TO #1 IN GERMANY "The German plug-in electric car (PEV) market grew 23% in June, to 5,709 registrations, with plug-in hybrids (+25%) and fully electric cars (+21%) growing at a similar pace. In 2018, all-electrics are reaching 1% share, while plug-in hybrids have also grown their share to 1%, resulting in a total PEV share of 2%." reported Jose Pontes for Clean Technica: "But the most interesting story on the fuels mix is the Titanic-like drop of diesel vehicles sales. In June, their sales sank 16%. The most popular EV this year so far is the Renault Zoe" IN JUNE, OVER 78,000 PLUG-IN ELECTRIC CARS WERE SOLD IN CHINA But from Germany, to China, let's supercharge those numbers. "In total, some 78,260 New Energy Cars were sold at 3.1% market share. It’s the world’s largest plug-in car market with nearly 373,000 cars sold during the first six months." according to Mark Kane at InsideEVs TESLA POLICE CARS START TO PATROL IN LUXEMBOURG com has news of yet another police force going electric: "Police in Luxembourg have added two Tesla electric cars to their fleet, hoping that their speedy acceleration will help them nab more criminals while also trimming the tiny country's carbon emissions" TESLA MIGHT SOON HAVE A 'NEAR-MONOPOLISTIC' HOLD ON THE EV MARKET Raul Hernandez notes that: "According to a team of Berenberg analysts led by Alexander Haissl, Tesla's competitors have opted for a "low-risk, low-investment" strategy when it comes to electric vehicle manufacturing. That will leave Tesla in the driver's seat with its all-in approach." The analysts write: "With no clear pathway to high-volume EV [electric vehicle] production for these OEMs [original equipment manufacturers] before the mid-2020s Tesla will be given a near-monopolistic opportunity to gain market share and outcompete the incumbent automotive industry." They continue to say: "Tesla/Panasonic continue to exhibit a clear advantage on cell and pack technology compared to all peers, on chemistry, cooling and cost," write Berenberg analysts. "Tesla's small and actively tube-cooled cells, which are not currently replicated and are unlikely to be so by competitors, drives significantly better residual values and cost-of-ownership advantages." "Tesla will invest roughly $32.7 billion into electric vehicle projects over the next five years, which is 40% more than Daimler and Volkswagen combined, according to Berenberg estimates. MODEL 3 ARRRIVES AT CLEAN TECHNICA Kyle Field at Clean Technica has a Model 3!: "One of our early reservations turned into a car this week as we took delivery of the CleanTechnica Tesla Model 3 at the Tesla Santa Barbara showroom. It’s a Long Range Black Model 3 with the Premium Upgrade Package!" He says: "Let’s talk looks. Yes, I know not everyone likes the looks of the car – especially the dash – but I absolutely love it. It feels so high end and sleek on the inside that it just makes me smile every time I get in. It’s simple enough to not feel cluttered but still manages to do everything I need it to do." MODEL 3 TRACK MODE "YouTuber Marques Brownlee recently had an opportunity to drive the Model 3 Performance on a track, and he pointed out an experimental "Track Mode" that takes the gloves off" spotted Jon Fingas at Engadget: "The in-testing feature switches on "stability control and powertrain settings configured for track driving," and it's no secret what that means: you can drift, understeer and otherwise push the electric car past its usual limits. It's not certain when this will reach customers, or even what the final name will be. And as enthusiasts will tell you, it's not a novel concept -- many sports cars have the option to turn off handholding features. It's still relatively rare among street-going electric vehicles, though, and serves as another signal that Tesla is interested in EV performance beyond straight-line acceleration." The third episode of the Avenue Red 1210 series is another 12 records, 10+ years old from another uber-vinyl-junkie DJ. This time we have one of our very favourite underground selectors out there, Dieter Mit Platten from Vienna, Austria - a notorious crate digger since year 2000 with the utmost taste in all shades of house and techno music. Dieter is a member of the Funkroom collective and DJ's at some of the finest parties in Vienna, most notably the monthly Window Shopping nights at Club Auslage where he has played alongside some prestigious names including Eli Verveine and Julietta. We want to highlight his ability to flow through house records with an impulsive fluency and zest by making specific reference to his "All Night Long" mix, released last year: https://soundcloud.com/dietermitplatten/all-night-long - 5 hours of premium quality house music. Dieter has put a lot of time and consideration into this mix, having dug deep through his vast collection (pictured in the artwork for this podcast) to create a delightful journey through an hour of old gems and lost oddities. It's been beautifully crafted and is a seriously essential download for repeat listening. As far as we are concerned, this is pretty much as good as it gets. @dietermitplatten @funkroom ===== 01 Chris Korda - May Queen // International Deejay Gigolo (2002) 02 Brett Dancer & Carlos Sanchez - Reunion // Track Mode (1999) 03 Gemini - Ca // Tinted (1999) 04 The Persuader - Mosebacke // Svek (1998) 05 Chris Energy - Untitled Track (Version 2) // Track Mode (1999) 06 Nick Holder - Untitled // Aquarius (1998) 07 Moodymann – Long Hot Sex Nights // KDJ (1995) 08 Kings Of Tomorrow - Gwiz Theory // Blackwiz (1994) 09 Brian Harden - Stop The Music // Connection (1999) 10 Jaime Read - What If? // Fragmented (1998) 11 Juan Atkins - Urban Tropics // Underground Level (1991) 12 Cab Drivers - Cablife // Seasons Limited (2000)
