In der aktuellen Podcast-Folge hatte ich das Vergnügen, mit Merlin Ouboter, Mitgründer von Microlino, über die Zukunft der Mikromobilität und die Herausforderungen in der Automobilindustrie zu sprechen. Microlino setzt mit seinen leichten Elektrofahrzeugen auf eine Alternative zum klassischen Pkw und sieht sich als Vorreiter in der L6E- und L7E-Kategorie. Seit Ende 2022 wird der kleine City-Flitzer produziert und erfreut sich wachsender Beliebtheit. Ein zentrales Thema unseres Gesprächs war die politische Vernachlässigung der Mikromobilität. „Es kann nicht sein, dass ein Zwei-Tonnen-SUV von Emissionscredits profitiert, während wir mit unseren effizienten und ressourcenschonenden Fahrzeugen nicht einbezogen werden,“ betonte Merlin. Microlino kämpft dafür, dass leichte Elektroautos in die Berechnungen der Flottenemissionen aufgenommen werden. Ein solcher Schritt würde nicht nur für faire Wettbewerbsbedingungen sorgen, sondern könnte auch den Preis für Endkunden senken. Auch das Thema Kaufprämien war ein Diskussionspunkt. In Deutschland wurde die Fahrzeugklasse von Microlino bisher nicht gefördert, während in Frankreich, Italien, Spanien oder Österreich bereits angepasste Fördermodelle existieren. „Wenn Förderungen auf EU-Ebene kommen, dann bitte nicht nach deutschem Vorbild, wo wir komplett ausgeschlossen sind,“ so Merlin. Denn neben finanziellen Vorteilen geht es auch um die Anerkennung von Mikromobilität als ernsthafte Alternative. Die Effizienz von Microlino überzeugt: „Unser Fahrzeug wiegt inklusive Passagiere weniger als die Batterie eines Elektro-SUVs. Das zeigt, wie viel Ressourcen und Energie wir sparen,“ erklärte Merlin. Mit einem Verbrauch von 7,5 kWh auf 100 km liegt der Microlino in einem Bereich, der mit dem Energieverbrauch eines Bahnreisenden vergleichbar ist. Ein weiteres Thema war die Stärkung europäischer Produktion. Statt höherer Importzölle auf chinesische Fahrzeuge setzt Microlino auf eine gezielte Förderung für in Europa gefertigte Autos. „Wenn chinesische Marken hier Standorte aufbauen, sollten sie genauso profitieren. Das wäre ein fairer Ansatz,“ so Merlin. Der Blick in die Zukunft zeigt, dass Microlino weiterhin für eine faire Behandlung der Mikromobilität kämpfen wird. Sollte das Thema beim anstehenden EU-Autogipfel erneut ignoriert werden, ist sogar eine Petition in Planung. „Am liebsten wären uns eigentlich keine Subventionen für niemanden – dann wäre es wirklich fair. Aber solange es sie gibt, sollte Mikromobilität nicht außen vor bleiben,“ betonte Merlin abschließend. Nun aber genug der Vorworte, lasst uns direkt in das Gespräch einsteigen.

Im aktuellen Podcast spreche ich mit Heinz Lamprecht, Directeur Commercial von Softcar, einem Unternehmen, das sich auf leichte Elektrofahrzeuge spezialisiert hat. Unser Gespräch drehte sich um die Besonderheiten des Softcar, seine nachhaltige Bauweise und die strategischen Pläne für die Zukunft. Softcar verfolgt einen radikal simplen Ansatz: Reduktion auf das Wesentliche. Das Fahrzeug wiegt inklusive Batterie nur 640 Kilogramm und kommt mit lediglich 1800 Komponenten aus – im Vergleich zu rund 45.000 bei einem herkömmlichen Auto. „Wir haben bewusst viel Elektronik weggelassen. Spurassistent, Abstandwarner oder gar ein Radio – das alles gibt es nicht, um das Auto so einfach und wartungsarm wie möglich zu halten“, erklärt Heinz. Das Resultat ist ein erschwingliches, robustes und langlebiges Fahrzeug, das ohne Hightech-Gadgets auskommt. Technisch gesehen ist das Softcar ein Leichtfahrzeug der L7E-Klasse mit einer Höchstgeschwindigkeit von 92 km/h. Die Reichweite beträgt etwa 200 Kilometer, mit einer optionalen Range-Extender-Variante, die weitere 100 Kilometer ermöglicht. Die kompakte 15-kWh-Batterie kann an jeder Haushaltssteckdose in wenigen Stunden aufgeladen werden – eine simple Lösung, die teure Schnellladesäulen überflüssig macht. Fairerweise aber auch aus dem Grund, dass der Akku die Leistung gar nicht annehmen könnte. Ein weiteres Alleinstellungsmerkmal ist die modulare Bauweise. „Das Auto besteht aus fünf Hauptmodulen, die sich wie ein Lego-Set zusammensetzen lassen“, sagt Heinz. Das Chassis besteht aus recyceltem Aluminium, während die Karosserie aus einem widerstandsfähigen, recycelbaren Kunststoff gefertigt ist. Diese innovative Bauweise macht das Softcar besonders nachhaltig. Selbst bei Hagelschäden oder kleineren Remplern in der Stadt bleibt die Außenhaut intakt – ideal für enge Parkverhältnisse, wie man sie in Frankreich oder Italien kennt. Auch wirtschaftlich setzt Softcar auf ein ungewöhnliches Konzept: Statt einer zentralisierten Massenproduktion sollen kleine Montagehallen nahe urbaner Zentren entstehen, um Transportwege zu minimieren. „Wir wollen nicht in einer riesigen Fabrik in Nordafrika produzieren und die Autos dann nach Europa verschiffen. Unser Ziel ist es, lokale Fertigungen aufzubauen“, erklärt Heinz. Preislich soll das E-Fahrzeug unter 20.000 Euro starten – eine direkte Konkurrenz zum Microlino, jedoch mit mehr Platz: Softcar bietet vier Sitze und einen großzügigen Kofferraum, der laut Heinz „locker sechs Bierkisten fasst“. Zudem ist das Fahrzeug auf eine Laufleistung von 1,6 Millionen Kilometern ausgelegt – ein Wert, den kein anderes Serienauto derzeit erreicht. Der Vergleich zum Microlino hinkt dann aber doch ein wenig.  Die ersten Fahrzeuge mit EU-Zulassung stehen bereit, eine Vorserie ist geplant. Parallel arbeitet das Team an der Homologation des Range Extenders. Wo die Produktion startet, ist noch offen, aber Softcar hat bereits internationale Interessenten. This week Oliver interviews Oliver Ouboter, one of the founders of MicroLino, who are producing one of the most beautiful cars that we have seen in the neighbourhood electric vehicle space – the thing is an electric version of the iconic BMW Ysetta from the mid 1950s. We really loved this interview for a few reasons - firstly, because the operators – Oliver and his father Whim were the OGs of the Micromobility space – setting up a company literally called Micromobility back in the early 2000s and producing the first kick scooters and then subsequently some of the first electric kick scooter's. Secondly, anybody who is producing small electric vehicles at any sort of scale deserves to be congratulated – it has been quite the journey for them, especially as they have done it entirely self-funded of the back of their original acoustic and electric scooter business. We have really enjoyed getting to know Oliver and are looking forward to hopefully having him at Micromobility Europe in June. In an age where gas-powered vehicles account for nearly half of greenhouse gas emissions in the transportation sector, electric vehicles are a way to help slow global warming. Over the last decade, the EV industry grew by leaps and bounds and Tesla has arguably done more for the industry than any other company. Watch Lucid Air Set New Hypermiling Record Of 687 Miles - The Lucid Air Dream Edition Range remains the world's longest-range production car, with an EPA rating of 520 miles (836 kilometers). - Tom Moloughney got remarkably close to that in the real world by covering 500 miles in the Lucid Air in InsideEVs' 70 mph range test. But how far can the electric luxury sedan go if the driver's only concern is range? - The plan was to drive the car at a constant 27 mph (43 km/h), switching drivers roughly every three hours. Any time the Lucid Air needed to stop or turn around, the driver would switch into neutral and coast before accelerating slowly back to 27 mph. - However, the vehicle did not manage to break the 700-mile threshold, with the 118-kWh battery running completely out of juice after 687.4 miles (1,106.2 kilometers). That was still good enough to qualify as a world record for the longest range achieved by production electric vehicle on public roads, but still a long way from the 999-mile Guinness World Record that includes prototypes on private tracks.
