In this episode, I chat with Emma, an animal lover and entrepreneur. She shares her life with horses, pigs, goats, chickens, dogs, and many other animals on her beautiful hobby farm. Emma also founded Mikko's Choice, a CBD product line for animals, to improve the lives of our pets. We chat about the potential health benefits of CBD, how Emma came to have such an incredible animal haven, and how she connects with species beyond the “classic companion animal” like a dog or cat. We also hear about two very special boys that have made an impact on Emma's life: Mo the wolfdog and Mikko the mustang. Their stories are sure to make you believe in the unbreakable connection we have with our animals, in life and after death. We be voting for the earth- in our Fund Drive while answering Antonio Machado's query “What have we done with the garden entrusted to us?!” We are available to Mystery & Willing to Participate! Woofing the dedicated work of Seán Pádraig O'Donoghue and John Perlin… So, deftly, once again to guide us, be Seán Pádraig O'Donoghue, with his latest book The Silver Branch and the Otherworld: Forest Magic with Plant and Fungi Allies. “Braiding together insights from herbalism, ecology, neurobiology, psychology, Irish history, and magical tradition, Seán Pádraig O'Donoghue shows how we can tap into the flow of communication from the wild world and our ancestral traditions.” Seán is a poet and herbalist living in western Maine in the shadow of a chain of mountains that stretch south to Georgia and north and east across the sea to Ireland and Scotland. He guides individuals in finding better ways to connect with the living world along their journeys toward healing, insight, meaning, and liberation. With compassionate listening and deeply intuitive insights, Seán works with clients to identify the patterns they want to shift in their lives. Then, he shares perspectives and strategies with them for connecting with plants, ancestors, and the land as allies in transformation. https://otherworldwell.com/ Caroline re-welcomes John Perlin, whose prodigious “A Forest Journey,” re-published by Patagonia, is our primary magnetizing pledge incentive for today! So there is so, so much good in this episode. First, we discuss the Beast of Gevaudan, a crazy cryptid/ wolf that terrorized the countryside in Gevaudan, an area where the French believed the dark enchantments of the forest still held sway. The beast seemed to terrorize the French countryside in the area known as Gevaudan, striking from out of nowhere and disappearing just as quickly. Many tried to catch the beast, and many claimed they had but the attacks only stopped after a local man shot a large wolf on the slopes of a nearby mountain. We discuss what kind of animaal the beast might have been, look into the history surrounding the beast and even give our own thoughts on what we think it might have been in this fantastically wolfy episode of the Family Plot Podcast!Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/family-plot--4670465/support.

Byron Ray of Wolf Dog Armory joins Bob "The Knife Junkie" DeMarco on Episode 472 of The Knife Junkie Podcast (https://theknifejunkie.com/472).A self-proclaimed IT nerd by day and bladesmith by night, Byron's knife company is named after the family dog, and he sees his knife-making as therapeutic, calling it "The Art of Recreational Hammer Therapy."Byron's great-grandfather was a blacksmith, and though Byron never knew him, his anvil sat behind his granddad's shop while he was growing up. He used that anvil to pound out spears and knives from a welding rod, but when he bought a knife blank and put a handle on it, he was hooked.College, a career, and raising kids put knife-making on hold for a few decades. After finding an old railroad spike at his granddad's shop, Byron began researching how to make a knife out of it.In 2013, Byron made his first "soup can" forge and made several knives with it, graduating later that year to a brake drum coal forge. Eventually he created his own propane forge and adopted a more professional process; after all, bladesmithing will be Byron's encore career.Wolfdog Armory produces traditional American-style fixed-blade knives, from hunters and scalpers to choppers and bowies.Find Wolf Dog Armory online at www.wolfdogarmory.com, Instagram at www.instagram.com/wolfdogarmory, and on Facebook at www.facebook.com/wolfdogarmory.Be sure to support The Knife Junkie and get in on the perks of being a patron, including early access to the podcast and exclusive bonus content. #029 - The Journey From Wolfdog Owner to Wolfdog Advocate With Georgina De CaignyThe first time I met a real life Wolfdog it was a magical experience. I started to imagine that one day I might share my home with a Wolfdog. I mean, how cool would it be to have a wild-looking pet that was actually domesticated like a dog?? But the more I learned about the Wolfdog, the more I realized that these animals are not just like dogs. They're not fully domesticated, and not fully wild and many Wolfdogs that contain high wolf content find themselves displaced and not truly belonging anywhere. Today's guest is Georgina De Caigny. Georgina is the founder of Wolfdog Awareness and the Executive Director of Yamnuska Wolfdog Sanctuary near Cochrane, Alberta Canada. In this episode Georgina will share her personal experience with her pet Wolfdog named Kuna, and how she went on the journey from being a Wolfdog owner, to becoming an advocate for both Wolfdogs and Wolves. In this episode you'll learn:What a Wolfdog is, and how they came to beThe difference between a low, mid and high content WolfdogThe biggest challenges with owning a WolfdogHow owning a Wolfdog differs from owning a dogHow the Yamnuska Wolfdog Sanctuary came to beAll about Wolfdog containment How you can help the WolfdogsWhere to find resources for Wolfdog ownershipResources from this episode:Episode 029: ResourcesEverything Pup Podcast Community on FacebookFind Holly on Social Media:FacebookInstagram Support the Show by SubscribingSupport the show

Like most people, our reluctant ghost hunter and adventurer had never heard of Sheepsquatch, the local cryptid embraced by the people of Fairmont, West Virginia, but in this twelfth episode of Wraiths of the Appalachian, Eddie learns plenty after he meets a band of local musicians who invite him and Snarly Yow out for a night of unforgettable splendor and terror.
The two-part adventure in Flatwoods, WV, continues when a fun festival celebrating the Flatwoods Monster turns incredibly dark for Eddie and the phantom dog, Snarly Yow.
In this episode of Wraiths of the Appalachian, Eddie and Snarly Yow find themselves in an area of West Virginia known for alien encounters, especially one visit from a possible extra-terrestrial known locally as The Flatwoods Monster. Just as Eddie feels he might be able to unwind and enjoy himself, he makes a fascinating discovery at the local Flatwoods Monster annual festival.
The conclusion of a two-part segment of Wraiths of the Appalachian in which Eddie and the wolfdog Snarly Yow collect more questions than answers as they endure a night of terror and confusion at the hands of devilish creatures in Hopkinsville, Kentucky that seem bent on destruction and mayhem.
The first part of a terrifying two-part segment in which Eddie and the phantom wolfdog Snarly Yow arrive in the small but infamous town of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, the site of much supernatural lore, including psychics, cryptids, and ghosts.
In this brief, bonus broadcast, the mysterious Mr. D addresses the listeners of Wraiths of the Appalachian directly with a few philosophical thoughts about ghosts, fate, and spooky things in general.
This episode concludes Eddie's terrifying encounter with a demented spirit while trapped in the haunted Bell Witch Cave.
As they travel to their next destination, Eddie presses Mr. D for more answers about the ghostly occurrences which they seem fated to experience. Will Eddie and Snarly Yow meet the infamous Bell Witch as they visit the spooky cave near the farm where she lived in Tennessee? Part One of a terrifying two-part segment.
Even scientists have never been able to fully explain the phenomenon of the ghostly Brown Mountain Lights, but Eddie and the mysterious wolfdog Snarly Yow have their own story to add to the ghost lore of this haunted site in the mountains of Western NC.
The exciting conclusion of the two-part segment in which Eddie and the wolfdog Snarly Yow experience a terrifying night with the Moon-Eyed People at Fort Mountain, Georgia offers a wild possibility for the origin of these mysterious, lost people. If Eddie can believe his own eyes, that is.
Eddie and his new companion, the wolfdog Snarly Yow, seek answers from the invisible and evasive Mr. D about the ghostly adventures that await them as they travel to their next destination, an old fort in northeastern Georgia with a mysterious history of a lost race of possibly "ultra-terrestrial" beings. Part One of a terrifying two-part segment.

Andy Greene begins his conversational journey with father, husband, writer and friend, Kyle Dickinson (@kmdickinson). We open the door to explore the confusing and overwhelming issues surrounding Identity. We begin where our friendship began, in Munich, Germany on a lonely Christmas, and from there, travel across the clarifying and terrifying landscapes wrought by the various identities we share and don't share. Kyle and I investigate the BS "Nice Guy" mythos we inhabited in our adolescence, our traumatic origins as "Drawers," and why we can't look away from the Big Bad Wolf. We introduce the Wolf/Dog concept with a hat tip to Derek DelGaudio's In & Of Itself (streaming on Hulu). We read poems about parenthood, struggle with our masculinity, with being the nerd or the chubby kid on the baseball team. We try to be better together. Trillian shares her and Fenrir's story, both the training techniques she tried as well as all the management involved. Fenrir is a stunning Czechoslovakian Vlcak (or Wolfdog) who's no small boy, measuring 29 inches at the withers (if you've listened to the podcast you'll know why that tidbit of information is in here). He suffers from pretty bad anxiety of which Trillian gives some examples. The management involved in giving him his best life is quite extensive. From providing Fenrir with 40 minute chews to buy the humans an hour outside the house (but then waiting in front of the door during the buildup phase to hear what's going on), to having one person stay upstairs while the other was downstairs because having two people in the same room was stressing Fenrir out too much.We talk anxiety in combination with crate training, BAT training and howling (yes howling and not barking), and how medication seems to be helping Fenrir to find a little more calm, but also brings about an unexpected “disadvantage”.Also, I learn what combisport is (and that it's probably not for me).http://www.vanoverbeekfotografie.com/2021/03/005-ruff-around-the-edges-with-trillian-ross-fenrir/Links:Fenrir is on Instagram and you can follow him there: @fenrir_and_friendsThe Czechoslovakian Vlcak Club of AmericaBAT training: https://grishastewart.com/bat-overview/The book on BAT training at Amazon.de: Behavior Adjustment Training 2.0: New Practical Techniques for Fear, Frustration, and Aggression in Dogs (affiliate link, if you use it you'll help support the podcast )Karen Overall's book on behavior modification: Manual of Clinical Behavioral Medicine for Dogs and Cats (affiliate link) Julie Naismith Sub Threshold TrainingThe FREE mindset-mini course "THINK Your Way to a Better Relationship With Your Dog" is available here:https://kajsavanoverbeek.com/think-mini-course/

Today's guest, psychologist Dr. Lorin Lindner, is the author of a new book - Birds of a Feather: A True Story of Hope and the Healing Power of Animals. She takes us on her life's journey, starting with her childhood love of a pet parrot who kept her company and healed her pain while her mother was dying. Later, as an adult, she was called upon to rescue a parrot named Sammy, which renewed her appreciation of these special birds. As the director of a program for homeless veterans in Los Angeles, she soon got them involved in building a sanctuary for hurt and abandoned parrots. During this process she saw the magical healing power that the birds had on the vets, suffering from PTSD and other psychological problems, and that the vets had on the birds. Later, she expanded her treatment program to connect vets to the rescue and care of wolfdogs. Dr. Lindner, with her love of parrots, became the first psychologist to harness the healing power of animals to save people.

Defender Radio: The Podcast for Wildlife Advocates and Animal Lovers
Wolves are one of the most majestic creatures on the planet. They’re intelligent, social, and thrilling to watch whether roaming their territory, hunting as a pack, or teaching pups the ins and outs of play. Some people love these animals so much that they want one in their home, and buy wolves bred in captivity, or wolf-dog hybrids. And according to the WOLF Sanctuary in Colorado, that’s when things can go wrong. More than 100 wolves or wolf-dog hybrids have found a home at the Sanctuary since it opened, and the dedicated staff and volunteers have helped find a safe place for thousands of others. Many of these individuals were born in profit-driven breeding operations, sold to well-meaning and loving families, and ultimately surrendered to the WOLF Sanctuary by owners who were unable to care for an animal that isn’t entirely domestic, and isn’t entirely wild. Dr. Shelley Coldiron, Executive Director of the WOLF Sanctuary, joined Defender Radio to discuss the difficulties people find in raising wolf-dog hybrids, what special needs they have, the daily operations of running the sanctuary, and the individual personalities, quirks, and lives of the animals in their care.

Ali turns in an admirable performance, given that she was furious to have to do this twice. Jon refuses to sing Spider-Wolf again. The Journey of Natty Gann was directed by Jeremy Kagan, and stars Meredith Salenger, John Cusack, Ray Wise, Lainie Kazan, Scatman Crothers, and Jed the Wolf-Dog. Paco Sosa held the title of NYC's oldest dog until he died in February of 2010. Paco was so much more than a beloved pet and companion of Bernadine Santistevan when he passed away at the age of 20 1/2 years old. Kelly talks with Santistevan about the life and death of Paco and how the former venture capitalist turned director made a film about Paco. It's a story with emotional twists and turns. The film, Wolf Dog, is still a project in the making and is in collaboration with Emmy and Oscar-nominated artists. The biggest roadblock, as is often in many indie films, is the financing. Santistevan has until December 6th to raise funds so she can finish the film. You can see a snippet of the film and perhaps make a donation. Once the film is finished, Santistevan plans to use Wolf Dog to increase awareness about the undeniable bond we have with our pets as well as fund animal causes.
