"Back Home Again" written by John Denver, released 1974.Producer Renee plays her rendition on guitar and piano. Here are the Lyrics :There's a storm across the valley, clouds are rolling in,The afternoon is heavy on your shoulders,There's a truck out on the four lane, a mile or more away,And the whining of his wheels just makes it colder,He's an hour away from riding on your prayers up in the sky,And ten days on the road are barely gone,There's a fire softly burning, supper's on the stove,It's the light in your eyes that makes him warm,Hey it's good to be back home again,Sometimes this old farm feels like a long lost friend,Yes, and hey it's good to be back home again,It's the sweetest thing I know of, just spending time with you,It's the little things that make a house a home,Like a fire softly burning, supper's on the stove,And the light in your eyes that makes me warm,Hey it's good to be back home again, yes it is,Sometimes this old farm feels like a long lost friend,Yea, hey it's good to be back home again,I say, Hey it's good to be back home again.

Motel Hell (1980) An American comedy horror film directed by Kevin Connor[2] and starring Rory Calhoun, Nancy Parsons, and Nina Axelrod. The plot follows farmer, butcher, motel manager, and meat entrepreneur Vincent Smith, who traps travellers and harvests them for his human sausages. Because of its low budget, the original intent was to make a serious horror film, with moments of disturbing wit and irony. It is often seen as a satire of modern horror films such as Psycho and The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. American Gothic (1988) This American slasher film is directed by John Hough and starring Rod Steiger, Yvonne DeCarlo and Michael J Pollard. You either love this or you hate it. Critics were mixed with one critic stating…. the film "comes through with an impressive array of truly sicko surprises... Rod Steiger and Yvonne DeCarlo are consistently entertaining in what may be the most humiliating roles of their already checkered careers. Opening Credits/Introduction (1.51); Oh My GOD!!! (48.51); Motel Hell Trailer (49.50); That Is Like So Tubular (52.33); It Is Totally Rad (1:34.28); American Gothic Trailer (1:35.33); Bodacious Talk (1:38.05); Reflecting on the 80's (2:24.14); End Credits (2:36.54); Closing Theme (2:38.54) Opening Credits– Planet Synth by Dan Hughes Closing Credits – Thank God I'm A Country Boy by John Denver. This week we welcome Rhonda Vincent and Matt Gumm! Bluegrass award-winner Rhonda Vincent began her professional music career at the age of five, playing drums with her family's band, the Sally Mountain Show. She picked up the mandolin at eight and the fiddle at ten, performing with the family band at festivals on weekends. Rhonda struck out on her own, singing with Grand Ole Opry star, Jim Ed Brown. Her opportunity eventually led to a deal with Rebel Records. Her work caught the attention of Giant Nashville's president, James Stroud, who signed Vincent to record two contemporary country albums. After Giant, she signed with Rounder Records where her passion for traditional bluegrass music flourished. She made her label debut in 2000 with Back Home Again, recorded with her band, The Rage. She showcases her hard-driving, high-energy contemporary bluegrass on The Storm Still Rages in 2001, One Step Ahead in 2003, Ragin' Live in 2005, All American Bluegrass Girl in 2006, and Good Thing Going in 2008. In 2000, Vincent won her first in a string of seven Female Vocalist of the Year Awards from the International Bluegrass Music Association. In 2001, she won the Entertainer of the Year Award. In 2011, Vincent released a collaboration album with Gene Watson titled Your Money and My Good Looks. During the 2020 Branson Christmas season, Rhonda produced and starred in her own show, Rhonda Vincent Christmas In Branson. She has a brand new album Music Is What I See. Rhonda is constantly thinking of new adventures, songs, opportunities, and she loves the excitement and challenge of putting together a plan at the last minute. Anyone who has ever worked with Rhonda Vincent, knows they must be ready at a moment's notice. There could be an impromptu recording session, a midnight drive to Canada to see Niagara Falls, a video shoot, or even a jam session aboard the Larry's Country Diner/Country's Family Reunion Cruise. Her motto is to always be ready for anything. It's one of the secrets to her success. For more information and tour dates, visit her website: RhondaVincent.com Matt Gumm literally grew up around variety shows at Lake of the Ozarks, so at the age of 30, he takes to the stage like a seasoned pro. Of course, growing up with Thom "Gabby" Gumm as your dad & mentor didn't hurt. In fact, he learned so well, Matt was added to the Main Street Opry act at the age of seven. Long before that, though, he seemed to know what he was going to do with his life. His mom Sandy will tell you that he spent everyday up on his bed, with a make-shift curtain that hung from the ceiling, with wigs and props doing his "show". It was in these very early years that a family friend thought it would be "funny" to buy Matt a toy set of drums. Well, the joke was on him, because Matt started playing those things and he was a natural! All that practice may have been painful at times for the family, but it definitely paid off. While in High School, Matt was the only student chosen out of his class to attend the Missouri Fine Arts Academy because he excelled in Music, Art & Drama. Fresh out of high school, Matt spent 5 years developing his own reputation as a gifted comedian and musician on the stage of the long-running Lee Mace's Ozark Opry in Osage Beach, Missouri. Once again, his family ties drew him back to work along side his dad and mom at the Main Street Opry in Osage Beach. There he honed not only his comedy skills with his dad, but he came into his own with his impersonations. He's brought the house down with his take on such artists as Garth Brooks, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Tony Bennett, Rod Stewart & Sammy Davis, Jr., just to mention a few. Clay Cooper caught his act and knew he wanted to be the first to introduce Matt to Branson. Currently, he is the craziest addition to Clay Cooper's Country Express where you can experience Matt's family friendly, high- energy fun, visual humor, and surprising abilities on some unusual instruments. When he's not performing, he enjoys spending time with his wife Katie, daughter Norah Sue, and son Nash. Matt has put together his own show titled “Matt Gumm & Company”. The show features his Dad, Sister and Travis Spratt for two-hours of hilarious comedy and great music. The next presentation of this show will be 7:30pm, November 13. For more information call 417-332-2529; or visit ClayCooper.com or MattGumm.com

This week on Trackside, Kevin Lee and Curt Cavin look ahead to this weekend's festivities and the schedule for the IndyCar season opener on the streets of St. Petersburg. They discuss the recent “Back Home Again” commercial voiced by David Letterman, and the high level of interest in the Indy 500, which is less than 100 days away. Kevin and Curt mention Sunday's Daytona 500 which was won by Austin Cindric, son of Team Penske president and Indy native Tim Cindric. They talk about whether the 23-year-old could one day drive in the Indy 500. They discuss Colton Herta's hot streak, as he enters the weekend winner of two races in a row and as the defending champ at St. Pete. They also break down which drivers need to have a sense of urgency going into the first race of a 17-race season. In the second hour, the guys talk about Mario Andretti's recent tweet about his son Michael's bid to start a new Formula 1 team starting in 2024. Finally, they speculate on which drivers could make an Alex Palou-like jump in 2022 and be a surprise championship contender. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Social Media: https://www.facebook.com/CharmaineHammondSpeaker/ https://www.linkedin.com/in/charmainehammond https://twitter.com/hammondgroupbiz https://www.instagram.com/charmaine_hammond After I left the jail system, I went back to school and became a mediator, and I was mediating conflicts in family, community and workplaces. [3:00] I fell in love with working for non-profit organizations, and then I ventured into working in mental health, where I worked in various capacities. [3:21] At one point, I even volunteered with my dog, a therapy dog, and we volunteered in a psychiatric hospital, and it was so powerful. [3:31] And all of these experiences led to what I do now, which is speaking, training and facilitating teams, groups, project committees, on how to collaborate better, work better together, remain resilient in changing times, and also how to resolve those tough issues that get in the way of success, conflict being one of them. [3:42] I get to work in these workplace environments and on projects where I get to tie in all of my skill sets and all of the things that, I believe, helped me shock other people's potential. [4:04] We also work with entrepreneurs, non-profits, and service clubs, to help them raise their dreams and fund their projects through collaboration. [4:22] One of the challenges that I had when I was preparing to leave the correctional system role as a correctional officer and move into a different career was that many of the ways we handled conflict don't work in other situations. [5:58] I went back to school and learned communication and conflict resolution. A lot of the training we had in corrections was related to crisis, not necessarily the negotiation part of working through a tough issue. [6:25] It taught me a lot about humility, being humble, the importance of respect, and how it can change everything when you show up at a tough time in someone's life. [6:43] All of these softer lessons led me to fall in love with a structured process to resolve conflict, which is why I went back to school to become a mediator. [6:54] My biggest learning was the power of listening to what is and is not being said. [7:14] So, when you hear people in conflict talking about what matters to them, what's driving their position, what their underlying interests are, the ability to resolve the issue is so much easier because you're getting to the core of what matters. [7:21] I realized that prior to that, I was always dealing with things on such a basic surface level, and you have to go deeper in conflict, and that is one of the reasons it is uncomfortable for both of us. [7:35] We need to look at resilience building, conflict resolution, communication and stress management, not as soft skills training but as essential skills. It is a softer approach to dealing with human issues, but they are essential skills. [9:25] Commercial Break. [10:43] These courageous dialogues don't happen because people don't know how to get the conversation going, so what happens is, it's avoided. [12:11] One of the things that I've learned is that as humans, we're typically pretty forgiving, where if you are providing feedback to someone and it doesn't land right, that is an opportunity to say I'm sorry and clarify your intentions. [12:35] I have learned that whatever these conversations are that require us to be courageous, it sets the stage for a much better conversation. [13:45] I feel like now more than ever, collaboration in the workplace is essential to help teams shock their potential. [16:19] Not everybody is naturally a collaborator. Many of us prefer to work independently or in a pair instead of a group. [16:57] In high performing teams, the ingredients that exist is a willingness to fix things in the moment but a willingness to disagree and realize that their perception is not the perception but simply a perception. [17:10] It is an opportunity actually to revisit communication and help people work better together and an opportunity to revisit trust. [17:49] We have to make sure that people understand how to collaborate effectively and have the tools and resources to do it. [18:03] Remember that proving somebody wrong doesn't make you right. Instead of trying to prove someone wrong, so you can be right, use that energy to bridge understanding and collaboration. [23:33] …..….…………….....… Thank you to our January sponsor! In this section, Sam discusses the nuances and benefits of letting go. After this short discussion, Sam gives a warm welcome to the first of his two guests this week, the executive film producer of Back Home Again, Charmaine Harmond. Sam asks why this film was so moving for Charmaine. Answering the question, she explains her personal connection to the Fort McMurray wildfires that the movie is based on. While she was not in Fort McMurray during the fires, she grew up there previously and returned during the recovery period. Continuing to elaborate, she talks about how much Fort McMurray means to her. Because she has such a strong love for her hometown and also a passion for having conversations about mental health, she feels lucky to have had this opportunity to work on the film Back Home Again.Segment 2Returning from the break, Sam asks Charmaine about why they chose to go with an animated film as opposed to a live action one. She explains that, oftentimes, looking at live images of a traumatic event can be retraumatizing, and that using animation instead can help negate this impact. Elaborating further on what the movie hopes to achieve, Charmaine describes Back Home Again as a family movie made to inspire conversations about mental health and coming together as a community. Charmaine talks about how important conversations don't start because people don't know how to talk about mental health or to access support. Hopefully, this movie can be a tool in starting these conversations. Back Home Again, Charmaine continues, is a movie that shares the stories of real people who experienced the fires and the fallout after them. Through the telling of these stories, Charmaine hopes to help people to understand the enormity of the tragedy. She also talks about how she hopes to shed light on how people can experience and process the same traumatic events differently.Segment3 After the second break, Sam welcomes the screenwriter and director of the film Back Home Again, Michael Mankowksi. Answering why he chose to work on this project, Michael explains that he, like Charmaine, has personal experience with the fires and also worked with Red Cross during the re-entry period following the wildfires. During the re-entry period, Michael talks about how he recorded over two hundred testimonials. However, he describes that he did not have control over the editing of these portrayals, and this led to a lot of frustration for him. He explains that he felt that the community and the experiences of the community were not accurately being portrayed. This inspired him to work on this project in hopes that he could accurately capture the community of Fort McMurray. Charmaine, Michael and Sam talk about how the vision was to create this movie as an educational resource for families, the classroom, or even the workplace. Ending this segment, they all discuss how lucky they are that they were able to attract such well-known actors to contribute to the project.Segment 4After the final break, Charmaine, Michael and Sam talk about some more goals behind creating Back Home Again. They discuss how they hope that this short will encourage people to stop talking about the fires themselves and instead focus on the rebuilding of the community. They also talk about how they worked closely with nineteen mental health professionals and psychologists throughout the process of creating the short and how helpful it was to have them as a resource. Next, they talk about when the film will be released. They are aiming for a broad release this fall, they explain, and have the world premier set for October 1st. It all came about when Heidi was dealing with thoughts of suicide, inadequacy, and dealing with infertility. She realized as she reached out to others and heard their stories, she would be uplifted and inspired no matter what she was going through. So this podcast has old "Original" shows from that time period. It also has "New" shows that are currently being recorded with new guests. And it has "Update" shows where Heidi reached out to original radio show guests to find out how the past 20 years have been! Do you know a story that needs to be shared? This week we welcome Rhonda Vincent and Collin Raye! Bluegrass award-winner Rhonda Vincent began her professional music career at the age of five, playing drums with her family’s band, the Sally Mountain Show. She picked up the mandolin at eight and the fiddle at ten, performing with the family band at festivals on weekends. Rhonda struck out on her own, singing with the Grand Ole Opry’s Jim Ed Brown. Her opportunity eventually led to a deal with Rebel Records. Her work caught the attention of Giant Nashville’s president, James Stroud, who signed Vincent to record two contemporary country albums. After Giant, she signed with Rounder Records where her passion for traditional bluegrass music flourished. She made her label debut in 2000 with Back Home Again, recorded with her band, The Rage. She showcases her hard-driving, high-energy contemporary bluegrass on The Storm Still Rages in 2001, One Step Ahead in 2003, Ragin’ Live in 2005, All American Bluegrass Girl in 2006, and Good Thing Going in 2008. Anyone who has ever worked with Rhonda Vincent, knows they must be ready at a moment’s notice. There could be an impromptu recording session, a midnight drive to Canada to see Niagara Falls, a video shoot, or even a jam session aboard the Larry’s Country Diner/Country’s Family Reunion Cruise. Her motto is to always be ready for anything. It’s one of the secrets to her success. For more information and tour dates, visit her website: RhondaVincent.com Floyd Collin Wray was born in De Queen, Arkansas. His mother, Lois Wray, was a local musician; in the 1950s, she served as an opening act for several Sun Records artists. Later, she became a solo musician in her own right; she would occasionally bring both Collin and his brother Scott onstage to sing harmony vocals. By the 1980s, the two brothers began a country-rock band called the Wray Brothers Band, in which Collin assumed the stage name Bubba Wray. The Wray Brothers Band performed primarily in the state of Texas, Oregon and Nevada . By 1986, the duo changed their name to “The Wrays”, and released singles for Mercury Records. In 1990 he was signed to a record deal with Epic Records. He debut single, “All I Can Be”, peaked at number 29 on Billboard. In 1992, the follow-up single, “Love Me”, gave him his first number one hit song. With 24 top ten records, 16 #1 hits, and having been a 10 time male vocalist of the year nominee (5 CMA and 5 ACM), this truly electrifying performer of his era remains one of the great voices of our time. The man who has topped the charts with such great songs as "On the Verge," "One Boy, One Girl," "What the Heart Wants," "Every Second", "That Was a River", "Anyone Else", and "If I Were You", continues to touch hearts across the globe. These days, Collin still travels and sings all across the Country. In 2014 he released his autobiography, “A Voice Undefeated”. In November of 2020, he released his latest album, “Scars”, which features collaborations with Miranda Lambert and Vince Gill. You can buy his music on Apple Music and Spotify. Ad legend Keith Reinhard, who is also the father of our co-founder & CCO Matt, curated this month's playlist of jazz classics, complemented by Matisse visuals. Leave Me Alone — Johnny Griffin When people ask what jazz is all about, I always quote the great Chicago-born tenor saxophonist Johnny Griffin who said: “Jazz is created by and for people who have decided to feel good, regardless of conditions.” His Chicago “tough tenor” sound on this recording makes me feel good regardless of what else is going on. I hope you feel the same. Intermission Riff — Stan Kenton Stan Kenton was coming onto the jazz scene about the time I was graduating from high school. Back then his sound was considered very avant-garde. I like a lot about Kenton’s music, but especially his five-trombone section that growls in close harmony on this recording. These same trombones inspired a jazz vocal quartet at Butler University in my home state of Indiana. They became famous as The Four Freshmen, with a unique sound achieved by vocalizing Kenton’s trombone charts. Take the “A” Train — Duke Ellington I live very close to a subway station in Manhattan, and every time I pass by it or descend into it, Duke Ellington’s theme song starts playing in my mental hum box. The song was written by his composing companion Billy Strayhorn when the young composer was invited to visit Duke at his apartment in Sugar Hill, Harlem. “How do I get there?” asked Billy. “Take the A Train to Sugar Hill,” said Duke. “It’s the quickest way to Harlem.” This recording is by the Ellington orchestra, conducted by Duke’s son Mercer, and featuring an impeccable tenor sax solo by Branford Marsalis. Moten Swing — Count Basie When Benny Moten played this song with his Kansas City Orchestra back in the thirties, his orchestra included Count Basie on the piano. Since then, Moten Swing has become most associated with Basie. I love the way the brass section surprises us by shouting out, in sharp contrast to Basie on piano who, as one reviewer put it, “plays little notes but gives them lots of meaning.” Moral of the story: You don’t have to be loud to be meaningful. Stompin’ at the Savoy — Benny Goodman When listening to jazz, I like to think of the different instruments and sections as being engaged in a conversation. Jazz people refer to this as “call and response.” One section “calls,” the other “responds.” This song is a great example of such dialogue. First the horn section calls “pah pah,” then the reed section responds, “bah da de da da dah.” A few bars later the call and response is reversed with the reed section calling and the horns responding. Soaring above this delightful conversation, Benny Goodman lifts our spirits with his clarinet solos. Goodman was another jazz great born in Chicago. The son of poor Jewish immigrants, he grew up to form, during an era of racial segregation, the first racially integrated jazz group. Watermelon Man — Poncho Sanchez Talk about Feelin’ Good! How can you feel any other way when you listen to Poncho Sanchez, the Mexican-American conguero (conga player) play Herbie Hancock’s composition about a watermelon vendor? Hancock, yet another Chicago-born jazz legend, composed the tune based on the men who drove their melon wagons over Chicago’s cobblestone streets and sang out about their juicy wares. Now that you know the story, you can almost hear the words “Hey, Wa-ter-mel-on man” in the five-note melodic figure that repeats through the song. Thanks to Poncho Sanchez and other Latin band leaders, this song became a bridge between Afro-Cuban and Afro-American music. Drum Boogie — Gene Krupa My high school buddy, Don Neuen, and I were both percussionists in our high school band and orchestra. We both admired the great drummer Gene Krupa, who was born and raised on Chicago’s South Side, and who became a handsome teenage idol. We wanted to look like him and play like him, neither of which ever happened. My friend Don, however, did become a distinguished musician as a faculty member of the Eastman School of Music and later, director of choral music at UCLA. Lacking Don’s (or Gene Krupa’s) talent, I went on to be just a music lover. But when I hear Krupa on the drum breaks in songs like “Drum Boogie,” it brings back those high school days when I was trying to master drum rudiments like flamadiddles and paradiddles. At least I member their onomatopoeic names. Boplicity — Miles Davis Jazz people often talk about the color of notes. You can even do a Google search to find color wheels assigning different colors to different notes. I’m not that sophisticated. But I respond to what Miles Davis and his nonet (nine-person group) are doing in this recording — experimenting with a less aggressive style of playing, and what is described as warm tonal colors, even though the album title is about the birth of cool. On the subject of color, I’ve always liked what Miles Davis himself said about the relationship between music and paintings: “A painting is music you can see. Music is a painting you can hear.” Big Butter and Egg Man — Wynton Marsalis Wynton Marsalis is an internationally acclaimed musician, composer, bandleader, educator and a leading advocate of American culture. I’m also proud to say he is my friend. We met in 1992 in São Paulo, Brazil and we’ve been friends ever since. Wynton is a multi-Grammy winner and the first jazz musician ever to win the Pulitzer Prize for Music. I love his trumpet solo on this recording of a song that takes its title from a 1920’s slang term for a big spender — a traveling businessman who spent big bucks in nightclubs. Presumably the voice of the trumpet is the voice of a woman who would like to connect with a Big Butter and Egg Man. Wynton is very wise. I once asked him how he feels if people don’t like a brave new composition. His response: “You can’t just be weird man, people gotta dig it.” What great advice for all of us. I hope you dig Wynton on this track along with his father Ellis who is on piano. Four on Six — Wes Montgomery Wes Montgomery is one of the most influential guitarists ever in jazz. A product of my home state, Wes was born in Indianapolis, the middle and most celebrated brother of a family of musicians. He recorded with brothers Buddy, a vibraphonist, and Monk, who played the electric bass. I like the fact that, as a guitarist, Montgomery is said to have introduced many people to jazz — people who knew they liked guitar but didn’t know they liked jazz. Indiana — The Modern Jazz Quartet First recorded in 1917 by the Original Dixieland Jazz Band, “Indiana” (aka “(Back Home Again in) Indiana”) soon became a jazz standard. For years, Louis Armstrong and his All-Stars would open each public appearance with this number. As a native Hoosier, it always brings back good memories of my growing up days. This recording is a good example of one of the basic elements of jazz — improvisation or spontaneous composition. The tenor sax plays the familiar melody, followed by a series of soloists improvising on the basic tune structure. In the last :30 of the track, the vibraphonist brings us “Back Home Again” to Indiana and the original tune. Cottontail — Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra I’ve been privileged to serve on the Board of Jazz at Lincoln Center for lots of years and so I’ve been able to see and hear the best of the genre up close and personal. Under the masterful direction of Wynton Marsalis, the organization’s managing and artistic director, every member of this 16-piece orchestra could be a headliner on their own. Each musician is a composer, arranger and performer. In this closing track of my jazz playlist, the orchestra is joined by the famous tenor sax player, Illinois Jacquet. The recording is live and I hope you’ll join in the applause.
Today I discuss the aspect that hunting should be 100% a personal thing. No one else's opinions or choices should ultimately control the decisions we as hunters make while up the tree. The song Back Home Again is utilized with permission from artist Zach Dubois and is off his album Destination Unknown.
