1.12.21 - Day 3/13 of the Blue Monkey Wavespell - Resonant Moon 3 Blue Monkey Genesis! That's an old, old Arguellian term from the origins of Natural Time. There was a pseudo-board game called Dreamspell that Jose Arguelles invented, sort of like Dungeons and Dragons and also like a UFO manual. It spoke of the first 130 days of the calendar count - the Tzolkin - as the Red Dragon Genesis, initiated by the Red Dragon wavespell. The second 130 days start with the Blue Monkey wavespell, and we're in that time now. The second half of the Tzolkin is less arduous in many ways. That seems accurate about Blue Monkey itself. I think of Red Dragon as birth, nurturance, the Great Mother of us all, and Blue Monkey is the child. We are shown life full of lessons through a mother's eyes in the Red Dragon Genesis, and in the Blue Monkey Genesis we get to try things out on our own, a bit of independence and in some ways there's less challenge, ever-arduous and demanding life lessons. So we're in the Blue Monkey time, the wavespell, the Genesis, and we get to be childlike and playful for a while.

Prepare yourselves for an intimate audience with one of the most talented and unconventional actors of our time... STEVE RAILSBACK!!! Having STEVE RAILSBACK on MONSTER PARTY, borders on the surreal. His career spans decades, and he's tackled some of the most challenging and controversial roles an actor could hope for. He made his film debut starring in the Vietnam related drama, THE VISITORS, directed by legendary director Elia Kazan, and gained nationwide attention for his chilling portrayal of Charles Manson in the 1976 television film, HELTER SKELTER.  Steve went on to act with Peter O'Toole and Barbara Hershey in the critically acclaimed and Oscar nominated, THE STUNTMAN, and made everyone on this podcast jealous by starring opposite  Mathilda May in Tobe Hooper's sci-fi classic, LIFEFORCE.  Man, acting sure is a great job! And for MONSTER PARTY fans, Mr. Railsback has appeared in a slew of other memorable genre films and TV shows that include TURKEY SHOOT, THE TWILIGHT ZONE, BLUE MONKEY, SCISSORS, ALLIGATOR II: THE MUTATION, THE X-FILES (GO DUANE BARRY!), BARB WIRE, ED GEIN, PLAGUERS, and many more! Although still recovering from an on-the-set injury, Steve was gracious enough to make to time to talk to us about his career, his insights on the craft of acting, and his incredible personal relationships with such greats as Lee Strasberg, Elia Kazan, Peter O' Toole, and Patrick Stewart. Now this is a guy who keeps great company! THANKS AGAIN STEVE RAILSBACK! YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH THIS MEANT TO US!

Later I reveal one of the weirdest dreams I have ever had. In the interview segment I sit down with Rick Sacha and Jimmy Mackay to discuss everything going on at Blue Monkey Brewing Company. Located in North Royalton, this merry band of good natured individuals pulled off something never before accomplished in this southern suburb of Cleveland, they opened up a brewery. They are pretty diverse with their eight beers on tap, and they are brewing up some pretty good stuff if I do say so myself. 4.21.21 - Day 11/13 of the White Mirror Wavespell * Planetary Moon 18 We are about to transit to the second half of the Tzolkin. It's not necessarily easier, but I would say that we get to build from the wisdom of experience, the ego-busting that's been asked of us, so we enter the next phase with heartiness and eyes wide open. It has been work to walk through the wavespells of late, and we're stronger, forced into resilience by all that has been demanded of us. We can play for a little while in the Blue Monkey wavespell that shifts us into childhood imagination and freedom from serious responsibilities. It's like earned time off after the long stretch of pressures and diligent achievement of the last while.

There are no portals in this column -  because the whole 20 days is stretched out into one channel between heaven and earth. Rarified, otherworldly, ethereal, the Mystic Column perfectly reflects the culminating days of the White Mirror wavespell then the magic that begins with Blue Monkey and the second half of the Tzolkin. It's a transcendent time of transiting between the first 130 days (the Red Dragon Genesis) and the second (Blue Monkey Genesis).

1.6.21 - Day 10/13 of the White Wizard Wavespell * Rhythmic Moon 25 Looking at January 6, 2021 through the Mayan lens, it's not obvious how things got so incredibly insane. But Blue Night days are like a dream - and there was plenty to witness culturally today that unfolded like a disjoined nocturnal walkabout with nightmarish twists but mostly lots of odd non sequiturs. And the Planetary tone always forces us to face what's going on right here, laterally, no heavenly escape valves. It's the peak moment of the White Wizard wavespell, a time of dark enchantment as well as light. It's a Lunar year, dividing everything into polar opposition. It's a Blue Storm year - combustible, pressure-bursting, chaotic. Today was guided by Blue Monkey - which operates like the lies children tell in its shadow energy: grandiose and guileless, irrational but offered with such conviction. That sounds about right.

Paying homage to the Hollywood Theater in Portland, Oregon and all the other movie theaters around the world unable to host all night horror movie marathons of their own; PsychotroniCast has programmed a marathon to keep the scene dead-alive! First up: the William Castle/Vincent Price classic, The Tingler. Followed by the James Mason narrated Edgar Allen Poe short, The Tell-Tale Heart. The next feature length centers around a news caster turned vigilante, a Miami serial killer, and a very young and very blind Jennifer Jason Leigh. Its 1981's criminally under viewed, Eyes of a Stranger. Afterwards, the boys finally embrace the Sleaze with this Italian feeling, early 80's Los Angeles B horror diamond in the rough: Mortuary. The penultimate movie in the lineup is a Canadian creature feature about giant Ants in a hospital. For some reason this film is called Blue Monkey. And finally, a lesser known slasher to come out at the tail end of the 90's/early 2000's slasher renaissance. The film is 2001's: Valentine.

8.19.20 - Day 13/13 of the Blue Monkey wavespell * Cosmic Moon 25 The Blue Monkey wavespell ends with the Magnetic Moon completing in a few more days. It's been a lot of energy, intensity, movement to greet this new Mayan year and regress to the primal, childlike experience of the Blue Monkey tribe. Not still at all - what child is? The Magnetic tone is always undeniably potent, portentous, busy and pressing us toward an unfolding destiny at full velocity. Take a moment to note what has come into your life the past 4 weeks: this is your blueprint for your year, in some psychic sense. You'll enjoy remembering how what ultimately manifests this year was pinpointed here at the outset.

8.16.20 - Day 10/13 of the Blue Monkey wavespell * Cosmic Moon 22 I've had the realization in the recent days of the Magnetic Moon that whatever I may have told myself about this new Mayan year being potentially smooth and uplifting (perhaps formed of how things were developing in the prior year's Cosmic Moon of presence, devoid of action and upheaval) - that was a childish fantasia or Blue Monkey mind. I am feeling adult seriousness return after this small reprieve in imagination and illusion, and the awareness of what a storm front is and how unavoidable its grandeur and impact is. It's an endless summer of overheating under climate stress, but we're bearing down on an apocryphal winter, metaphoric and literal. So it's time to center, strengthen, and wake up, be watchful. The Blue Lunar Storm year's moment of purpose is delivering this prophecy.

8.12.20 - Day 6/13 of the Blue Monkey wavespell * Cosmic Moon 18 There can be a lot of joy and childlike zaniness in this time. We can act like children. This is a privilege, to return to innocence, and also an ineffective time and place to make truly adult, mature decisions. Watch your imagination and yearnings run wild in desire, enjoy the expansion of free association and fantasy. Infuse yourself with youthful wonder. And wait a while before assuming this state of mind is permanent or the means to actualize all this appetite for giddy dreaming and wonder. Patience is a developed counterbalance to guileless want.

8.9.20 - Day 3/13 of the Blue Monkey wavespell * Cosmic Moon 15 The Blue Monkey wavespell can be so fun and so free. Maybe the only caution is to not take that fun and freedom too seriously. Or expect that it can last. Or make decisions right now under the assumption this is how life is going to be from now on. Any childlike wonder, ease, lack of responsibility can be directly attributed to the wavespell we're in - already 3 days gone - and when it passes we will have less access to some of these preferred states of being. Enjoy the access at hand, like a vacation that cannot replace the job we return to. To decide mid-vacation that we want to always be on vacation so we quit the job - or relationship, or move, or rewrite all our set plans in order to try to make this fun and freedom endless - rarely works out. But we can love this moment of unlimited movement - physical and spiritual. And rest from the usual intense daily demands that encompass adult responsibility.

8.5.20 - Day 12/13 of the White Mirror wavespell * Cosmic Moon 11 The White Mirror wavespell resolves today and it would be worthwhile to really assess what it was you were asked to sacrifice, what you experienced as heartbreaking, and how the light enters all those new crevices. In theory, a broken heart takes up more space than a whole one, a form of expansion and growth. If the heartbreak wasn't yours, it was around you in the culture and it's also part of our ceremonial passage to pay attention to those who made the transition of a kind from here on earth to a broader spirit world - not necessarily literal, a death, as much as a forced shift in consciousness through loss. Next is the Blue Monkey genesis, and perhaps lighter fare.

Paige gives us a peek behind the curtain, sharing how she manages to deliver the best accommodations and meals available.   “I believe that hospitality is my gift. I just talk to guests and make sure they’re having a good time – and if that means going somewhere else, I’m okay with that!” –Paige Cain   We also discuss: Paige’s life before moving to Costa Rica What it was like moving to Costa Rica Navigating Costa Rican laws & regulations Fixing up the hotel Getting the hotel’s name from a four-year-old girl Why Paige rents out golf carts Travelling tips for Costa Rica Paige’s favorite recipe for the ultimate Costa Rican cocktail, the Guaro Sour   Resources: Check out Hotel Mono Azul: hotelmonoazul.com | Facebook Want to increase sales & improve service in your restaurant? An episode almost lost to the ether due to an untimely Windows update, not to mention all the guests are sick! Here Ryan's, Shane's, Mike's, and George's nasally hilarious takes on trashy movies like Street Trash, Blue Monkey, and of course the king of trash Troma's Toxic Avenger. If you're going to start on the UHM podcast, this is the one for you. Segment 2 from the Blue Monkey Tavern finds us drinking Peruvian beers with our good friend Dawn Cisler. Dawn had just come back from Peru and surprised us at the Blue Monkey with good beer and amazing Peruvian Chocolate. In light of the election, Richard diagrams it all out perfectly a month prior to the actual election. Turns out he's a wise, old, sage. Also we drink an AMAZING homebrew and we were not sure who made it.

Our first podcast in a post-Prince world. We rap about Prince while drinking a Beer To Drink Music To from Dogfish Head. We welcome Bear Republic Brewing back to NJ with a Racer 5 and We crack open a growler of an El Dorado Rum Barrel Aged Exit 4 from Flying Fish. This Exit 4 was barreled exclusively by Flying Fish for Joe Canal's in West Deptford NJ. It was only poured at the Joe Canals growler station, and we got our hands on an elusive growler.
