Welcome to the first episode of season 3! Today, we're approaching the thought-provoking journey through the complexities of obesity, wellness, and the power of mindset. In this enlightening conversation with Dr. Caissa Troutman, owner of Weight Remdy in Camp Hill, PA. Dr. Troutman shares her innovative plan that equips patients with the tools to achieve sustainable weight loss, better sleep without medication, and manage menopause by focusing on understanding the role hormones play in all of it. We even touch on my personal venture into a 72-hour fast and how it relates to overall health, far beyond just shedding pounds. Listen in as we tackle the true definition of obesity, emphasizing its hormonal and biological underpinnings, rather than the outdated notion of personal failure. Dr. Troutman and I discuss the medical complexities of obesity, from genetic predispositions to the crucial role of adipose tissue as an endocrine organ. By understanding the significance of even modest weight loss for reducing disease risk, we shine a light on the need to look beyond BMI and aesthetics, to the substantial health implications of obesity. We also explore the delicate hormonal dance affecting weight and metabolism, revealing insights into hormones like ghrelin and leptin, and their critical role in our health and well-being. Finally, we delve into the role of culinary medicine in patient care and the importance of sustainable nutritional changes for long-term health benefits. I share my passion for cooking as a stress reliever and the ways in which I integrate this into patient care through cooking demonstrations and mindset sessions. We conclude with a discussion on the value of fasting, not only as a weight loss tool but also for metabolic health, while underscoring the importance of adopting a positive mindset during life's challenges.

In this episode, we cast a spotlight on a subject of utmost significance: the gender pay gap, particularly in the context of recent European legislation mandating compensation disclosure in job advertisements. The EU Pay Transparency Directive, designed to combat the gender pay gap within the European Union, has brought this critical issue to the forefront. Notably, in 2020, the EU's gender pay gap stood at 13%, with only marginal improvement over the preceding decade. As global awareness of persistent gender wage disparities grows, it's vital to grasp the multifaceted nature of this challenge. The new legislation represents a momentous stride toward transparency and equity in the job market, aiming to narrow the gender pay gap by exposing salary inequalities right from the outset of the hiring process. But the question lingers: Is this measure alone sufficient to resolve the issue?Joining us as our esteemed guest today is Yasmine Guerin, the Founder of Negotiatress—an initiative that equips women of all backgrounds and ages with the tools to negotiate for themselves effectively. Yasmine is also a certified mediator and group facilitator, boasting over 12 years of expertise in the realms of negotiation and conflict resolution. Tune in as we engage in an insightful conversation with industry experts, advocates, and thought leaders to unravel the intricacies of this pivotal issue. We'll also delve into the potential repercussions of these legislative changes on employers, job seekers, and society at large. In this episode, we'll explore:The profound significance of disclosing compensation in job adverts and its role in addressing the gender pay gap.A comprehensive examination of the primary factors contributing to the gender pay gap, along with an exploration of how salary transparency can help mitigate these disparities. The challenges and opportunities that the European legislation presents for employers, job seekers, and the broader workforce.Follow Konstanty Sliwowski on LinkedIn https://www.linkedin.com/in/sliwowskik/For more insights check out www.schoolofhiring.com and www.caissarecruitment.com/blog

History was never considered to be a subject that would lead to gainful employment and I dare say, rewarding matrimony. Maybe that's why we have paid little respect to it in India. Maybe that's why our records are shoddy. Most museums and public places of history are disrespectfully maintained—and shabby when compared to those in other countries.Through the ages, the lasting history of India has been principally discovered and recorded by travellers from overseas—from Megasthenes in 300BC to Al Masudi in 950 to Thomas Roe in 1615 and then so many other illustrious people during and since. And now, there is a sudden interest in Indian history.Of the number of books that publishers send me to consider for this podcast, a great many are about Indian history—in one form or another. This interest in Indian history I guess was kicked off by recent western historians—and the trend is carried forward by so many wonderful Indian historians and writers—each compelling, entertaining and insightful.Well, it's all good. It's a great time to be discovering ourselves—and maybe this will cause our public spaces to improve. And I pray, curated by historians and and other men and women of science and not politicians. My guest today, is John Zubrzycki. He is the author of several great books on Indian history. His most recent book is titled The Shortest History Of India. He artfully presents thousands of years of the history of India in a little over 250 pages. His earlier book, Jadoowallahs, Jugglers and Jinns is an amazing history of the little known but truly fantastic contribution of India to the world of magic, to such a degree that western magicians believed they needed to dress up as Indian mystics to be credible to western audiences. So much to ask him. So let's get right to it. Here he is joining me now from his home in Australia.ABOUT JOHN ZUBRZYCKIJohn Zubrzycki is an Australian author who has been studying Indian history for more than forty years. He has worked in India as a diplomat and foreign correspondent, taught Indian studies and written extensively on Indian society, culture and politics. He is the author of four books. He majored in South Asian history and Hindi at the Australian National University and has a PhD in Indian history from the University of New South Wales. During World War Two, Portugal remained neutral. Many of the people who found themselves there had little choice as to where they might live, work and even survive. Among those who had had little choice but to be in Portugal was Alexander Alekhine, the World Chess Champion.Alexander is a man looking for a life away from sitting alone in his hotel room with nothing but a chess board on a table and dinner in his lap. He is looking for inspiration, looking for his muse and ultimately, a way to return to his previous glory...
