This week I have long time friend Eric Bootow from band Jughead's Revenge, he also plays for hardcore legendary SoCal band Fourth In Line, and Sederra. He's the go to bass guy in the OC for punk rock bands. I met him through Efrem Schulz of Death By Stereo and Eric was one of my first friends when I moved back to SoCal in 2003. We talk about my first time in a bar with him, and a bunch of other fun stories. The post Eric Bootow- Jughead’s Revenge appeared first on idobi Network.

Death By Stereo frontman Efrem Schulz takes center stage in this episode as he unveils the backstory of Death By Stereo's 2005 single, "Forever and a Day." With a fervor that matches the song's intensity, Efrem guides listeners through the process of writing, recording, and releasing this deeply personal anthem, which revolves around a heartfelt promise to stand by a cherished friend through thick and thin. A sonic departure from much of the band's catalog, "Forever and a Day" allowed him to explore a whole new dimension of his vocal prowess, making this episode a must-listen for fans eager to uncover the layers behind this musical masterpiece. The time has finally come! We have landed an Aquabat on the In Defense of Ska podcast. Not just any Aquabat, but EagleBones Falconhawk! Or as he's known when he's not busy with his superhero duties, Ian Fowles. We get into the Aquabats! history with Ian, including his personal story with the group, the mythology of his character and what it was like to work on Yo Gabba Gabba! and The Aquabats! Super Show! Many names were dropped in this conversation, including Weird Al Yankovic, Jack Black, Greg Hawkes (The Cars), Puddles Pity Party and Jesse Hughes (Eagles of Death Metal). We also dig into Ian's history as a musician. He was a founding member of Death By Stereo. He quit the group to go on his Mormon Mission. When he returned, they were signed to Epitaph. We talk about how Michael J. Fox or rather Marty McFly's guitar scenes in Back To The Future inspired him to take up the guitar, what it was like to tour with Rancid, and we discuss his mustache phase! Plus we ask Ian he likes ska. You may not want to know the answer! Support the show

I learn Dan's story about how he got to where he is and all the bands he's been in over the years. The post Dan Palmer- Zebrahead-Death By Stereo appeared first on idobi Network.
On this episode of Headliners, Greg sits down with DAVEY WARSOP of NOT to talk about their newest releases.NOT is the brainchild of singer/ songwriter Davey Warsop, the LA based Brit known for fronting bands such as Beat Union, Suedehead and Sharp/Shock. Warsop met guitarist Brendan Scholz and bass player Jarred Cooper (both of las vegas' Mercy Music) at a funeral, when their shared manager and So-Cal punk scene legend, Stewart Teggart tragically passed away. Through a shared love of pop punk pioneers ALL and Descendents, the trio pulled in Kyle Whitmore on drums and decided to make a record dedicated to Teggart. It seemed fitting as it was their late friend and mentor that made their lives cross paths to begin with.Warsop and Scholz (both headstrong chief songwriters for their other musical projects, respectively) decided to combine forces exclusively for NOT, resulting in a powerhouse writing duo, like the pop-punk Lennon/ McCartney.Their debut album “Stop the World” contains 14 hyperactive, caffeine fueled pop songs boasting hook after hook choruses about love and heartache whilst battling wild guitar solos and frantic bass energy. To top things off, “Stop the World” wouldn't be a fitting tribute to the ALL/ Descendents D.I.Y work ethic, without it being self-produced. Since landing himself in Los Angeles, Warsop has been producing and engineering for the likes of The Used, Green Day, Bad Cop Bad Cop and Face To Face. So it makes sense that the record was tracked at Warsop's very own Strong Studios in Long Beach, California, with himself at the controls. The record was then mixed and mastered by Paul Miner (known for his work with New Found Glory and Death By Stereo). The singles “Stop the World”, “Anxiety” and “Alien” are all streaming everywhere now with a full length on the way in the new year via Wiretap Records (North America), Brassneck Records (UK/ Europe), and Waterslide Records (Japan). CDs and cassettes will also be available via Paper and Plastick. In Warsop's own words “So many musicians have unapologetically paid tribute to bands like The Ramones or The Clash… It's about time someone did the same for ALL. We're just trying to fly that flag as proudly as possible.”Scholz added “We certainly aren't re-inventing the wheel, more so celebrating and paying tribute to the bands that helped define the pop punk genre. So If you like pop punk, you'll love NOT!”CONNECT WITH THE NOTINSTAGRAMSUPPORT THIS SHOW

This is my favorite kind of episode... The guest on episode 22 of Feel Free to Deviate is an old friend named Todd Hennig. We were in a band together when we were in high school, and since then Todd has gone on to play with many bands like Great Collapse, Nations Afire, Death By Stereo, and Heckle, and he's toured all over the place. He's even gotten to play and tour with some of the heroes of his youth, which is a dream for many budding young (and old) musicians. That said, his path was not free of obstacles, and he still needs to work a normal job, but I look at him as someone who deftly balances his family, his passions, and his career. This episode is full of personal anecdotes and reminiscences. Despite many of them being rooted in the music world, I think the message and meaning can be applied universally. Check out Todd's woodworking on his website: https://2020woodworks.com/, or look for him on Instagram @toddhennig. Feel Free to Deviate is the podcast about people, their careers, and their relationships with success. My name is Jim Turbert, and I am the host. Phil and Jake are joined once again by Efrem Schulz to rank rap group Insane Clown Posse, actor Gary Busey, and a third topic on the List of Every Damn Thing.Find Efrem on Twitter (@Efbystereo) and Instagram (@efbystereo). And keep on eye out for upcoming shows by his bands Death By Stereo, Voodoo Glow Skulls and Manic Hispanic! If you have something to add to the list, email it to list@everydamnthing.net (or get at us on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook).SHOW NOTES: The only ICP song we really discuss is (of course) “Miracles”. The Great Milenko is a devil figure in the Juggalo cosmology - "According to the group's mythology, The Great Milenko is a necromancer and illusionist who tries to trick individuals into greed and other such sins. He takes out the worst in an individual and creates powerful illusions in an attempt to cause them to become hedonistic and greedy. An honorable individual must fight his magic in order to make it to Shangri-La." Horrorcore is a genre that was a big deal in the 90s. It's pretty much what it sounds like. Horror-inflected rap music. Bone Thugs-N-Harmony were initially extremely horrorcore. They had a song called "Hell Sent" about invading hell and killing demons. Looking back now it was inescapable, from the Geto Boys ("Chuckie") to Ice-T ("pulse of the rhyme") to the Gravediggaz ("1-800-Suicide"). It's one of those things you don't realize is everywhere until years later when it's gone. American Juggalo is a great short film about the Gathering of the Juggalos. You should watch it. Busey movies discussed include The Buddy Holly Story, Point Break, Under Siege and The Gingerdead Man. We also talk about his appearances on such reality TV shows as I'm With Busey, Celebrity Rehab and Gary Busey Pet Judge. The Rock is Phil's favorite 90's action movie. People get it confused with Con Air but it's much better. All three stars (Connery, Harris and Cage) go all-out. Jake Busey is Gary Busey's son, he looks like his dad. Starship Troopers is a Paul Verhoeven film loosely based based on the film of the same name by Robert Heinlein. It's maybe the best anti-war movie of the past 50 years but the general public really showed their ass by missing the point. Is Gary Busey in Lethal Weapon? You bet your ass he is. Please direct any complaints about our third topic to @Efbystereo & @thaddius_larue. Mike was a busy drummer before the pandemic. Touring the world with Death By Stereo or the legendary Adolescents, he was barely home so when the all virus thing happened he had to learn to stay home for a while. But Mike is not gonna let a pandemic shutting his creativity down and that's why he started another venture with his friends from Zebrahead and together they made a new supergroup: Fear No Empire, produced by none other than Paul Miner, which we had the pleasure to have on the show in December. Also, when he's not busy drumming, Mike is running a really cool clothing brand promoting his punk values. Learn to forget, that's the name of his brand, has some of the coolest shirts so if you need a new outfit for the summer, look no further. What we liked about Mike is that he's straightforward and speaks his mind. It's all being true to yourself and doing the right thing for yourself and your community. It doesn't mean you can't be open to new directions and new experiences, on the contrary. He comes from the punk scene of the OC and that's where he became who he is now but that's also why he's allowing himself to conduct new challenges with the same passion every time. Together, we're starting a conversation about saving Rock N' Roll in the City of Angels. Casually talking from the Sunset Strip, we are launching a movement with our collective called Team Nowhere and we are calling artists & fans to unite. If you are in a band, or if you're a photographer, a developer, a hairstylist, whatever your craft... In other words, if you really want to help to put Rock music back on the map for the ten upcoming years... well let's build a community together, and let's plan concrete actions to make a positive shift in our industry. Rock isn't dead, the Sunset strip isn't dead. But only if we want it! #Teamnowhere #Hangingonsunset @team_nowhere @hangingonsunset --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/hangingonsunset/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/hangingonsunset/support
Phil and Jake witness the triumphant return of Efrem Schulz-- frontman for Death By Stereo, Voodoo Glow Skulls and Manic Hispanic-- to rank marijuana, Band-Aids as fashion, and Yosemite Sam Mudflaps on the List of Every Damn Thing.Find Efrem on Twitter (@Efbystereo) and Instagram (@efbystereo). He's been real busy with his bands lately.; here's a check-out list: Check out the Voodoo Glow Skulls new album “Livin' the Apocalypse” and if you're in Southern California get tickets to their October 22nd show (unless you're reading this in the future). Check out Manic Hispanic's new album “Back In Brown” and get tickets to see them play with FEAR on October 29th (again, it helps if you're in SoCal and not in the future). And of course, check out Death By Stereo in general. If you have something to add to the list, email it to list@everydamnthing.net (or get at us on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook).SHOW NOTES: “Weird A.I.” Yankovich is an invention of Beth, Phil's wife. He's an artificial intelligence that does song parodies. We get into a lot of hologram talk. Here's a write-up of Jenni Rivera's hologram's appearance at Hollywood Forever Cemetery. And here's some info on the upcoming ABBA hologram show. The Tehachapi Loop is popular with railfans like Jake. We discuss fake train tunnels, and hate it when this happens. Here's the episode of Efrem's podcast Into the Weeds featuring Tommy Chong. “Barroom Buddies” by Clint Eastwood & Merle Haggard is a real thing! “Drinkenstein” is a song written by Dolly Parton (the current #1 on the List of Everything) & sung by Sylvester Stallone. It's from the movie Rhinestone which they starred in. We think we've gotten this wrong before in the past but for the record, Murphy Lee is not the guy who wears the Phantom of the Opera mask in the St. Lunatics. Murphy Lee and Kyjuan are the only members of the St Lunatics anyone can remember, and neither are the ones who wear the mask. That's Slo Down. He was a silent hypeman who ended up in a feud with Nelly because he felt he wasn't being paid properly. Here's YouTuber Linzor explaining her Band-Aid fashion. Hatless Slash is actually pretty common. Efrem surely meant to say John Schnieder when he was talking about John Davidson. In looking for a list of the most iconic mudflaps we learned that people seem to go with unadorned mudflaps nowadays. The “Skeleton Dance” cartoon is a big source of trauma for Phil's son every Halloween and has been since he was a toddler. He prefers the Donald Duck cartoon "trick or treat". Over the course of band's more than 20-year existence, La Armada has frequently toured throughout North America and Europe, shared the stage with legendary groups like Propagandhi and Sick of It All, built a passionate fan base composed of listeners from all around the world, released some powerful and altogether awesome material, and helped shine a light on some of the social injustices many people face. Even more impressive than what the veteran band has accomplished is what they gave up in order to make its two-decade run possible. Before earning a reputation as one of Chicago's (and the Midwest's) premier hardcore outfits, La Armada's members were living in the Dominican Republic, where they were setting up punk shows (in a nation enamored by merengue music) and preparing to move to the U.S. in order to take their artistic ambitions to the next level. Recently, My First Band host Tyler Maas spoke to La Armada guitarist and founding member Paúl Rivera about his band's lengthy tenure, their new EP that's preceding what looks to be a busy 2022, highlights from his life on stage, and what he still hopes to do before his days as a musician are through. Of course, the conversation also turned to Rivera's musical origin story, which found him growing up in the Dominican capital of Santo Domingo, discovering punk rock as a kid, buying "a shitty guitar" and forming a band in his teens, and booking some of his favorite bands (Belvedere, Death By Stereo and Strung Out) to play in "The D.R." Rivera also talked about the band immigrating to the U.S. and struggling to settle into their new county before eventually finding their footing in the Chicago music scene. My First Band is sponsored by Mystery Room Mastering and Lakefront Brewery. The show is edited by Jared Blohm. You can listen to My First Band on iTunes, Stitcher, Spotify and wherever else you get podcasts. You can also listen to rebroadcasts of previous My First Band episodes on WMSE every Wednesday from noon to 12:30 p.m. CST. Music used in this episode comes courtesy of Devils Teeth ("The Junction Street Eight Tigers") and La Armada ("Death On Replay").
Fetch a towel, its a Basement Bank Holiday Farewell To Summer Special Spectacular sort of thing with music from Silver Sun, The Kinks, Helen Love, The Pogues, Elvis Costello, Tuung, A, Town Bike, Françoise Hardy, The Lemonheads and lots more with the regular waffling in-between. It's been a rough week so time for a much more relaxed episode of the Basement in full self-care mode. What interest do we have in ancient fisticuffs, riding the wind, terrible gigs, when drummers sing or the modernised works of Alan Bennett? All we need are our pumping hearts and the sweet sounds of Aphex Twin, Plot 32, Teenage Fanclub, Frenzal Rhomb, Big Joanie, Good Grief, The Walker Brothers and their sweet, satisfying ilk! So trousers down, teeth in and brave heart for another trip to the Basement. Bring a cloth. Find full tracklists and links to where you can buy the music on my Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/beninthebasement or the Twitter feed where you can submit your own music too: https://twitter.com/BenBasement And for a limited time only you can get 15% off Ben's books (including the newly re-released music compendium "Death By Stereo") using the code TEXTBOOK15 before August 28th here: https://www.lulu.com/spotlight/benbakerpresents
The Basement is open again for new music, old music, strange music, sketches, news, daft jokes and rock history. Plus: 'Wish You Were Here?' takes a trip to Keighley, classic animation outtakes, Yorkshire's first rock festival goes badly wrong and there's an interview with singer songwriter Luke Hirst about scratching a musical itch without playing live or selling records and what the genre "Bradford Primitive" might actually consist of. There's also music from The Specials, Flyying Colours, Joe Tilston, The Peach Fuzz, Fairport Convention, Lewis Morse, The Goodies and more. Phil and Jake are joined by Efrem Schulz, a friend of the pod-- and vocalist for Death By Stereo, Voodoo Glow Skulls and Manic Hispanic-- to stack the whack of the the List of Every Damn Thing by ranking “Weird Al” Yankovic, the 1987 comedy film Spaceballs, and Warner Bros large-graphic cartoon t-shirts.Find Efrem on Twitter (@Efbystereo) and Instagram (@efbystereo). Efrem also plays bass in the Danzig / Misfits tribute band Dirty Black Summer. Grammar authorities say both “champing at the bit” and “chomping at the bit” are fine to use. Jake was wrong about how to write Weird Al’s name. The quotes go around “Weird Al” not just “Weird”. Weird, right? Weird Al songs (and videos) discussed include “Eat It”, “White & Nerdy”, “Tacky”, “Amish Paradise”, “Fat” and “Lasagna”. And of course we couldn’t skip his polka medleys (including “The Hamilton Polka”). Efrem tells a story about bonding over Weird Al with George Rebelo from Hot Water Music. George is a great guy and amazing drummer. Hot Water Music is one of the best bands ever. Chamillionaire retired from rapping and is now a venture capitalist in Santa Monica. Here he is over a John Tesh sample and here he is on an extremely 2005 Scott Storch beat. People forget his breakout hit was about racial profiling. We couldn’t find footage online of the MTV show Death By Stereo did with Coolio, but here’s an old post on punknews.org that proves it happened. Roast battle champion Mike Lawrence has a take on Spaceballs similar to Phil's wife's. We discuss the works of Mel Brooks, including Young Frankenstein, Blazing Saddles and Robin Hood: Men In Tights. Rick Moranis is at his best in Ghostbusters. Bill Pullman is at his best in Independence Day. He belongs in the air. We name-check lots of cartoon characters that one might find on an oversized t-shirt, including Taz, Betty Boop, Tweety Bird, Elmer Fudd and Foghorn Leghorn. There’s also mention of Yosemite Sam mudflaps. Phil & Jake both looked for evidence of Michael Bivins wearing WB merchandise, and couldn't find it. That doesn't mean it doesn't exist. It might be that he was too grown-up by the time these shirts came about. In this episode of the Matt Watch That Podcast, host Matt Seroski sinks his teeth in as he reviews the vampire comedy horror The Lost Boys (1987).
On this episode I chat to Dan Palmer, lead guitarist for Zebrahead, Death By Stereo, Fear No Empire, a bunch of cover bands aaaaannnd he's also a sessions musician. Basically Dan loves to play music and this episode is all about his attitude and passion towards what he does.Support the show (https://ko-fi.com/miztrujillo)Zebrahead have been a band I listened to a lot growing up. I'm pretty sure they got on my radar in 2007 when I caught them at the Bournemouth B.I.C.. and as far as I know Dan didn't start playing with them for a few years still. There a band that I always associate with fun times, they never took themselves too seriously and they were a guaranteed good time at festivals. It was also around this time that I also become a fan of Death By Stereo though, I remember them playing at the Bournemouth Opera House and finding people on MySpace to go watch them with. So, by the time Dan joined Zebrahead I was pretty familiar with both bands and really into the fact that Dan was juggling two bands that toured heavily; not to mentioned sounded pretty different to each other. It was an absolute pleasure getting to chat to him all these years later and getting to pick his brain. We started the podcast to build a community. And it works! We're making new friends along the way and these friends introduce us to more friends. At the end of the day, it's all that matters. Being surrounded by friends who care for the same things, share the same passion, and try to create something bigger than themselves, that's what motivates us ultimately. Well, folks, we have a new friend, and this friend has many friends! As a matter of fact, the producer (and founding member of Death By Stereo) Paul Miner only works with friends. That's simple as that! He's been producing records in Southern California for the past two decades and if you wonder why his website hasn't been updated since Myspace, well, it's because he doesn't need to! Projects come his way and his biggest struggle is to find time to work with everyone reaching out to him! We connected with him because two previous guests on our podcast worked with him. Crash Overcast and Silence Of You have recorded with Paul and told us how much they loved working with him. And we understand why! Paul is as talented as he is passionate about his work as a producer. Plus, he's the nicest guy! No wonder why bands like Agnostic Front, Atreyu, Touché Amoré, Thrice, and countless other bands trust him with their sound.

We talked about The Shop getting broke into for the 5th time, we talked about what he's been doing to stay busy during the pandemic, lots of fun tour stories including why Vinnie Paul +5 is always on Death by Stereos guest list. We had the pleasure of interviewing Ali Tabatabaee of Zebrahead and Fear No Empire over Zoom video! At the height of the 2020 global pandemic and social unrest, while millions of people are quarantining at home or risking their health and safety by taking to the streets in protest, Fear No Empire has come together with a powerful message that further shines a light on injustice and calls for change. Fear No Empire is Ali Tabatabaee - Vocals (zebrahead,) Ben Ozz - Bass (zebrahead,) Dan Palmer - Guitar (zebrahead, Death By Stereo,) and Mike Cambra - Drums (The Adolescents, Death by Stereo and Common War.) Throughout the songs on their debut, Fear No Empire voice their anger and frustration with the world around them and stand up against racism, oppression, police brutality, voter suppression, anti-LGBTQ+ discrimination and violence, and all forms of social injustice. We want to hear from you! Hello, welcome to containment zone B-37 formerly known as "Don't Lets Chart" and the Don't Lets Charts are off to Liverpool! Or rather they were last week just before the proverbial hit the wossname and it didnt seem quite so ridiculous to jaunt off to the land of Ian and The Zodiacs to meet some of our fellow podcasting friends. Inside this mop-topped package of podcastery are several items recorded around the city as well as some items inspired by the Mersey - such as the sexiest accents of all time, the story of the superlambananas, a top new quiz and possibly least tasteful list by Ben to date. So settle in, grab your best cushion with Jean Boht's face on it, inject your eyeball medicines and enjoy this week's episode remembering what the outdoors used to be like! ========================= Ben's (sort of) new book "Death By Stereo" can be bought here... Dan and Robbo from Death By Stereo stop by to talk about the band's history, rock and roll wrestling, and white claw.
Alberto won $300 on the Super Bowl. Steve is upset that Alberto gambled on the Super Bowl rather than go to his pre-Super Bowl party. Eddie believes nobody cares about his sex life. Will missed the show again. Plus we play music by Death By Stereo.
This weeks song, "Little Fighter" - White Lion/Death By Stereo, is yet another new discovery for the Punk Goes Pod duo. Follow Emma and Sam as they discuss the Greenpeace ship that inspired the song, comically killer stereo's, and the best interpretation of a pinch harmonic using only mouth sounds.

There are a plethora of live shows to cover this week on Riot Act, as Steve went to the rather morbid Static-X, Soil and Wednesday 13 in London whilst Remfry went to see Emma Ruth Rundle, Jo Quail in Bristol and Lingua Ignota in London. He also hot-footed it off to Cologne to report back from the 15th edition of Euroblast Festival where he saw a strong contender for worst gig in 20 years of seeing shows. Albums reviewed include The Menzingers, The Number Twelve Looks Like You, Renounced and Body Hound and trade off comes courtesy of Death By Stereo and Sunny Day Real Estate. We loved recording this episode, its such a great film and there's a lot to talk about. Sorry it's late.
Efrem Schulz is a busy man - he fronts two hugely popular bands (Death By Stereo and Voodoo Glow Skulls), has a Podcast (Into The Weeds Podcast), is owner of a fantastic Skate Shop, which also doubles as a small venue for both local and touring bands (Programme Skate and Sound), is frontman of Manic Hispanic ( and still says he's got a few more things in the works... I got to sit down with him before Death By Stereo played at the Hamilton Station Hotel in Newcastle... The bad news, this episode got cut short because Death By Stereo were seconds away from walking onstage... the GOOD news? We're going to record Pt2 at Punk Rock Bowling in Las Vegas at the end of May, so keep an eye out for that one!! Think this episode is worth $1?Go to www.paypal.me/myagepodcast and support the cause!

On this episode I talk with musician and lead singer Efrem Martinez Schulz from the band 'Death By Stereo'. Listen how he transitioned into also being the lead singer of the band 'Voodoo Glow Skulls'. Plus we talk about the podcast 'Into The Weeds' which he's part of and how he's set out to make a difference to help others. Listen now to his stories of how he lives a healthy PMA (positive mental attitude) lifestyle and his approach on accomplishing his dreams. The song 'They Feed Us Death' by Death By Stereo is featured as well. Stay Rad.
Punk legend drummer Chris Dalley from Authority Zero (also known for his work in Pulley, Implants, and Death By Stereo) calls into 22West Radio on 88.1FM HD-3 to discuss the band's first self-released studio album, Persona Non Grata. Is there a difference between North American fans vs European fans? Is rock n' roll a dying artform? Check out drummer Chris Dalley's new album below!
Dan Palmer plays lead guitar for Death By Stereo and Zebrahead. We had a great conversation about his career, how he started playing professionally and how he found his unique sound.
On today's thoroughly entertaining episode, Sarah is joined by Danny Cummings and John Holt from Fair Do's. These tongue-in-cheek Northerners have been an important part of both the UK DIY punk scene and the wider European skate-punk scene since 2009 so we were delighted to speak to them, especially as they get set to unleash their stunning new album Leopards (which you can order here https://lckjw.eu/FDleopards). We learn why their bassist is a weasel, why a stage catching fire doesn't mean the end of a show, and they share the story of their foxy new video for their single, Closing In. We also discuss KNRD Fest, touring with After The Fall and Death By Stereo and, erm, morris dancing. Finally, they also completely throw their bandmate Dave Speechley under the bus on the personal worst section of the podcast, telling two fabulously embarassing tour stories. Probably serves him right for being such an disgustingly good guitarist. These are the songs we played: Closing In by Fair Do's (from the album Leopards) Bates Motel by Mute (from the album Thunderblast) Cents Less by After The Fall (from the album Eradication) We strongly recommend that you all pick up the new Fair Do's album Leopards from Lockjaw Records right now: https://lckjw.eu/FDleopards If you enjoyed the podcast, why not also check out our written interview with the band: shout-louder.com/2018/06/21/fairdosinterview/

Episode 259 - YES! Today is a rad show with my old friend Keith Barney. He plays guitar currently in 18 Visions and was previously a member of Adamantium, Throwdown and Death By Stereo. This week on Episode 67 of Bobby Pickles' Podcast (Dying Scene Radio #12), Bob Noxious interviews New Orleans punk rock darlings, Pears, and Bobby Pickles interviews Cock Sparrer (Pronounced: SPERRA in American) prior to their first NYC show in 15 years. Fresh off a one week hiatus, the two Bobs don’t miss a beat with two interesting conversations, plus Bobby makes a total ass out of himself by mispronouncing the band’s name consistently throughout their entire exchange - watch the Full Video HERE. SYNOPSIS OF BANTER: Bob admits to being a true consumer, planning to visit at least three record stores on Saturday’s coveted Record Store Day. Bobby has an iPhone with plenty of MP3s at his grubby little fingertips. Bob collects punk records that he doesn’t listen to and Bobby has old opera records, which belonged to his grandfather. News of two untimely deaths in the punk rock world inspires Bob to start yet another punk rock death pool. Bobby bets on Cock Sparrer because they’re so bloody old, then Bob bets on Pears, so he can also bet on the band he interviewed this week. Wrapped in full USA colors, Bob declares that Pears has the most awesome tour van ever! The brash complement quickly devolves to talk of farts, feet and gas milage. From their humble beginnings to their affiliation with Off With Their Heads, Pears just may be “the last great hope of punk rock” but Bob doubts that seriously. Bobby gets schooled by Cock Sparrer on the actual pronunciation of their name, then continues to butcher it. Bobby displays not a hint of becoming a "Proper Cockney Hooligan" anytime soon. Bobby also mispronounces the last name of lead singer Colin McFaull. All of this with a bachelor’s degree in English from The University of Florida. Bobby openly admits his love of Bud Light to two right Englishmen who enjoy drinking beers from all across God's green globe. Bobby shares a tale of meeting Out Of Order lead singer Scott Maracle at the Cock Sparrer show - then premiers a new Out Of Order track without the band’s expressed permission. Bob announces that any band interested in getting their music played on DSR should email him, to mirror the success of Colombian skate punk band 69 Enfermos. THIS WEEK’S HEADLINESSome of the topics reported herein, include, but are not limited to the following:Bassist Heiko Schrepel (One Man Army) passes away; Emilio Nevarez (The Lucky Eejits) fatally shot while loading out gear at show; Darkbuster announce first show in six years; Emmure cancel all touring plans, including festival appearances; Rise Against announce North American tour with Killswitch Engage and letlive; Death By Stereo release music video for their cover of Rancid’s “Rejected”; Music Video: Bricktop cover “Dead Bodies” for Rancid tribute album “Hooligans United”; GASH has fired their drummer and is currently looking for a replacement! If you reside in the Philly area, and you know how to play the drums, and you don’t mind S&M - please do not hesitate to reach out via gashofficial.com.
