Our guest today built her entire business for YOU to be heard, seen, appreciated and loved. Find out how!  Episode Introduction:  In today’s Law Chat episode, we are accompanied by the founder of the one-stop-shop for bloggers. She has built her entire business around creating a go-to resource for all your blogging needs. Episode Summary:  Bree Pair walks us through her journey of pursuing graphic designing, working at a 9-5, travelling across the nation in a truck for one year and then finally realising what her life’s purpose is. She shares the things she has struggled with, how she overcame them and how she leveraged her existence and passion for community to build Thrive. Main Takeaways: As an entrepreneur, you can often find yourself to be lonely. In times like these, you lean into your community for support. Not knowing everything doesn’t need to lead you to imposter syndrome. You just need to be willing to go and find out. When it comes to blogging and social media, things are constantly changing and there’s a constant learning process involved. Sometimes you just need to start without overthinking the process of how things will work out. To start a new business, you just need to take your ego out of it. No matter what amount of success you achieve, challenges are never going to go away. Bree’s top tips to work on your success mindset: Be selective of the content that you’re feeding yourself. Select positive things (podcasts, books, blogs, affirmations etc.) and serve yourself those. Whatever you do, make sure you master it and become an expert before moving on to the next business avenue.  Break things down and plan them in quarters, that way you’re not saying no but you’re giving yourself the time to focus on the task in hand. Imagine not going shopping -- sounds simple, right? Now imagine not shopping for anything for a whole year. Our guest today did it and she’s here to share her experience. Episode Introduction:  In today’s Law Chat episode, we are accompanied by a true minimalist who tells her how she turned her life around by realizing the importance of what she already had as opposed to always chasing for more. Episode Summary:  Miranda Anderson walks us through her journey where she had always been used to independence ever since she was a young child and how that made an impact on her entire life. She shares all her milestones from being a nurse to blogging as a hobby and then finally monetizing her creative side. She also shares how she and her family have adopted the value of minimalism and changed their life. Main Takeaways: When you’re confused about what you want to do in life, stop doing everything and put things into perspective. Sometimes letting go off of the idea of the way things should be done can help you do better. You may think that you have wasted time while working in a different stream when you were supposed to do something else but you don’t realize the fact that you’re always learning and gaining skills that can be spun off and utilized in a different manner. Simplifying the little things in your life such as your meals and your closet can help take a load off of your schedule. Focus on budgeting your energy along with time and money. If you’re not utterly excited about something, then you probably shouldn’t do it. You should give yourself grace for sitting down and doing nothing. You need a break every now and then. Perfection isn’t about not bending the rules, it’s about bringing a level of intention to every choice you make. If you truly care about something, make sure you keep it protected. In this episode of Coaching Conversations, business growth experts Nick and Chris reveal the secrets of good organisation. Chris is back from a well-earned break and admits, facing an avalanche of work is stressful enough without good systems in place. Fortunately, Nick has proven advice for effective day planning – the bottom line being, you will be more effective when you prioritise, intentionally focus and most importantly, remove distractions. Working smarter, not harder is wonderful in theory – but how do you get there when every day is frantic and unpredictable? Learn a few new tricks in this inspiring episode of “Coaching Conversations” with Nick and Chris ….! Show Notes 0.25  Welcome to the show and intro (and yes it IS Chris’ birthday today and his kid wanted cake for breakfast… naturally). 3.00   Nick and Chris discuss their own secrets to good organisation.           4.00  Firstly, Nick is all about “time”; business owners generally work             8 – 10 hours a day – and jump back on at night for a few more.                       Nick believes you must be regimented with your time to avoid burn out and poor health. Prioritise. Get up half an hour earlier. Do yoga. Meditate. Exercise. Whatever it takes. Make yourself priority number one. That’s non-negotiable. 7.00  Me Time. Food Time. Knock Off Time. Nick believes you can get serious work done in 4-7 hours with decent systems and the right people in the business. If not, you need to adjust your timing to be productive. 8.15  Secondly, Nick is all about “tactical”. Can someone else do the job faster? Are you wasting your time and knowledge when you could be doing something more productive? Software programs, calendar management – look at the tools you use to manage your day. Nick likes to work 15 hour days, Tuesday to Thursdays - and this is how he does it! 10.14 How do you work smarter, not harder? Save money – not spend money? Chris talks about the Two “D”s. The first D is “Remove                Distraction”. The second is “Discipline”. You can have the greatest systems in place, but if you don’t follow it, you’re in time management trouble all over again! 15.00  If you want to work three days a week, 15 hours a day – you must have discipline. Remove all distractions and apply focus to ensure you get all the priority based stuff done first. Nick factors travel time into his calendar. 17.10  Intentional focus v distracted focus. Don’t be disrespectful of time. Yours and other people’s. 18.05  Elon Musk’s time management philosophy; he manages his day in five minute increments. The dichotomy is that regimentation actually affords freedom. 21.05   Have you read the book “Profit First”? In it, Mike asks how you can achieve double the output with half the time and resources. 23.35  If you have any questions or thoughts on marketing your                    business or marketing in general, reach out to Nick and Chris (and remember to ask for your free Quarterly magazine …!)                         ask@upcoach.com.au  EPISODE SUMMARY        It takes discipline to improve efficiency in your business. How to crunch twice the amount of work into half the time? Remember the reward for efficiency is a win/win for your team and the company – no one says no to extra money or time off, so work towards these goals. Ask yourself repeatedly, what are you doing with your time? How do you remove distraction? What do you need to enable more discipline? What do you need to plan? Your calendar is your best friend so fill out every working day minute and you will see where spare time is possible. Time and Tactical. Distraction and Discipline. Focus intently on the basics and get your life back – while staying the successful course in business.

In today’s Law Chat, we have a recovering perfectionist with us. She started her business on her own terms because she knew that she was meant for the entrepreneur life. She ditched the big corporate giants and paved her path to support small businesses with her skills. Episode Introduction:  In this episode of Law Chat With Girija, we are accompanied by an entrepreneur at heart, Kelly McInturff. She tells us about the beginning of her entrepreneurial journey, her pivot into it and how she built a life she loves by making the right choices for herself. Episode Summary:  Kelly McInturff shares with us the experience she had while building her marketing firm, Bird & Hyssop where she helps entrepreneurs in creating clear marketing messages that resonate with their customers so they spend less time looking for clients and more time doing what they love. She also walks us through the process of picking her niche in business and the challenges she faced while doing so. She also tells us about her confidence jam, some fun moments and super valuable nuggets of knowledge. Main Takeaways: Kelly McInturff’s top three suggestions to a 22-year-old today: - Find something that you’re passionate about and you’re good at it too. - Go for it - try a lot, fail a lot & readjust a lot. - Re-train your brain to understand that you don’t always have to be perfect but the important thing is the effort.  Most people don’t start their business thinking about the various aspects it would include (like Marketing, Law, etc.), that’s a potential path for you to pursue, to help others with what they’re struggling in. When changes happen in your personal life, it’s okay to show grace and give yourself a break in your professional life. One of the biggest challenges that mompreneurs have to overcome is the mom guilt. As a mother, it becomes important to separate your personal identity apart from just being a mom.  You can do many things, it’s just not practical to do them all at once. There are tons of free resources on the internet that can help you get your work done more efficiently. Some of them discussed in this episode are Planoly, Trello & Asana. If you’re not asking people to buy your product -- that’s subconsciously leading them to believe that you’re not confident in your own product. Are you struggling with marketing? Having trouble generating leads or finding the ideal client? Like to know how to nurture the ones you have? In this episode of Coaching Conversations, Nick and Chris reveal the Triple M of Marketing…a simple guide used by hundreds of UpCoach clients over the past six years. Nick has the good stuff on marketing campaigns that actually work… so enjoy and learn how to get the most out of your marketing dollar in the latest “Coaching Conversations” with Nick and Chris ….! Show Notes 0.25  Welcome to the show. 1.30  Breaking down the “Triple M of Marketing”, it’s origin and how to leverage the “Triple M” so that marketing works for you. 2.55  The three elements provide an easy framework; Message 2. Market  3. Method. MARKET: Nick discusses the primary importance of Market. Ask yourself who is buying your product or service. Crunch the demographic as closely as possible. Research tools include using Social Media like Facebook and Instagram. Have you defined your client avatar because this should be top of the list? 7.00  MESSAGE; From the red-light district in Amsterdam to local companies selling adult products, Nick talks about targeted messaging. Your message must connect with the client avatar or you’re simply wasting money. Nick likes the problem/solution approach  “Do you need help with” or sharing information “Five things you need to know about choosing a Builder” Target the demographic with an understanding of their day-to-day issues.               11.40  The power of your message must connect with the ideal marketplace. Have you watched a TVC Infomercial lately? Chris urges you to look at the elements they use to talk directly to their target consumer. 13.54  METHOD: Do you have two avenues of marketing? Nick strongly suggests a “double shot” for maximum impact. Using a Bathroom/Tiling shop as an example, Nick talks about online marketing using Google to Facebook. Offline, free info from an instore expert or complimentary in-home consults. 16.30  From call centres to catalogues, there’s a wealth of great ideas here! Nick illustrates the use of marketing for a Glazier company. Learn to open conversations with clients by asking about future projects… 18.50  How many “methods” do you use? Remember, more than two make it difficult to measure the effectiveness of your chosen methods. You must test your methods. Use an offline and offline method of delivery if you can. 19.30  What happens if you’re an online business? It all comes down to image quality. Your “message” is the visual – what your product looks like. The description; the right keywords are crucial. Your message IS the presentation! 23.12  If you spend around $30 - $50 a day on Social Media for three weeks, you will have enough trackable data. 23.35  If you have any questions or thoughts on marketing your                  business or marketing in general, reach out to Nick and Chris …                    ask@upcoach.com.au EPISODE SUMMARY        Market… Message… Method. Nick’s Triple M of Marketing offers a remarkably simple framework for devising and testing your marketing plan. Profiling your demographic, or client avatar, is high on the list followed by the ease of distilling information into a directly targeted message. Thirdly, your method should include no more than two ways to convey the “sell”; online and offline so you can test the efficacy of the campaign.

In this episode of Coaching Conversations, Nick and Chris focus on trade-based businesses. How do you plan to get off the tools faster? Is cash flow the issue? Perhaps you can’t find anyone to do what you do as well as you do it? Or are you simply unwilling to let go? There are many ways to manage money. Ideas to help you learn more about finance and accounting. Systems to bring it all together so growing your bottom line becomes a habit. Money in versus money out – and everything in between, in the latest  “Coaching Conversations” with Nick and Chris ….! Show Notes  0.25   Welcome to the show. 0.53   The big question for owners of trade-based businesses right now? How quickly can you get off the tools? Nick discusses the reasons why you may be unable to give it up…. 1.55   Can you reduce your time on the tools incrementally. Work smarter not harder?  Book meetings back to back…manage trades more effectively – there’s a lot you can do! 2.35  Nick wants you to consider, how can you be more tactically efficient? Learn to delegate. Hire the right person for the job! Do your people see the business the way you do – and can they communicate that progress back to you when you’re not there? 5.21  And the kicker? If you identify yourself as someone who must be on the tools rather than the business owner, it’s going to difficult to make that vital change. If you can’t let go, you need to look at the systems in place so you can train people up. 7.00   Chris agrees; it’s ALL about systems. Have you spent enough time mapping out the steps? Never assume that people see it through your eyes! Plus, set yourself a time to exit – you need a deadline, not an open-ended “when things work out I’ll get off the tools” mindset. 8.17.  How much time should you spend managing your finances and why? Identify now! Are you unconsciously incompetent with money? Or are you conscious that you “don’t know” that you “don’t know”? (ie “I                    don’t do that, my account does that, right!”) OR are you unconsciously competent;    so good that it doesn’t even register? 10.45   Learn how to manage money so it becomes a HABIT. Nick talks through the many ways you can bring yourself up to speed in basic finance and accounting. 12.28  Expenses and how to reduce them. Margins on products, are you breaking even? Profits. You must look at these elements to grow your bottom line! Money in versus money out! 14.00   Do you take time off? And do you feel guilty for doing so? Nick urges you to see the bigger picture. Drop the guilt. If you take time for yourself make sure you don’t spend it working “on”  your business rather than “in” it. Shift your value set – change your perspective and listen to what your body and mind need to function well. Like an Olympian, you get stronger after rest and recovery. 20.00  It all comes down to prioritising your value set. Family…  work…  lifestyle. Where do you sit? And why can’t you have both? Time to live AND a successful business? 21.00   If you have any questions or thoughts on today’s topic,               reach out to Nick and Chris … ask@upcoach.com.au EPISODE SUMMARY          There’s much to take-away when you focus on working smarter, not harder. Reducing time on the tools involves crunching your workload into manageable bites and trusting others to share your vision. Learn how to become “unconsciously competent” so the elements of finance become second nature. There’s no doubt when it’s work time or “push” time – go hard! But take breaks to re-energise and recover. Ask yourself. What are you missing out on because you won’t take time off? Re-prioritise your value set now and re-balance work success with the lifestyle you work so hard to achieve!

Host: Diane Gil, KeyKey Hussein Moore Guests: Rastonya Lee M.Ed, LPC Episode Introduction:  In today’s episode of the Now What Podcast, Diane and KeKey are joined by special guest Rastonya Lee, M.Ed, LPC who shares her experience and encouragement for all of us to take care of ourselves, so that we can take care of those we love.  Episode Summary:  The episode includes personal experiences from Rastonya Lee’s childhood growing up in the suburbs during the white rush era, and the types of services offered by Serene Tranquility Counseling Services for achieving mental wellness and behavioral health.  We also discuss the importance of self care and mental wellness especially during these uncertain times, in addition to simple steps to make self care a priority now.  Diane and KeKey make a personal commitment to self care.  Key Points: The stigma associated with self care has come a long way, but communities of color are still most challenged by resources to meet their basic needs (food, water, shelter, etc) often resulting in self care being last on the priority list.  It is not uncommon for people with access to resources (financial, private insurance, support systems) to have both a psychiatrist and/or therapist for maintaining mental wellness and also prioritize self care in their daily life. Self-care is fundamental to knowing how to ‘bring in balance’ from both negative and positive polarities. One can and most often will experience mental decline and/or have a difficult time coping when the mental state is out of its natural alignment with self.  Therapy is a form of life coaching, career planning, individual, marriage and couples, children and teenagers— counseling. It helps us achieve everything we ‘seek’ to be, by aligning oneself with the correct theoretical orientation that fits their needs. Cognitive Based Therapy (CBT) aims to improve mental health.  CBT focuses on challenging and changing unhelpful cognitive distortions and behaviors, improving emotional regulation, and the development of personal coping strategies that target solving current problems. One type of CBT is Self Care SPEMS (Social, Physical, Emotional, Mental, and Spiritual) which teaches 5 modules, concepts, interventions, and coping mechanisms for mental wellness. Some tips for self-care include: Live Healthy, eat healthy foods, get enough sleep, exercise regularly, and avoid drugs and alcohol. Manage stress and go for regular medical check-ups. Practice good hygiene. Good hygiene is important for social, medical, and psychological reasons in that it not only reduces the risk of illness, but it also improves the way others view you and how you view yourself. See friends to build your sense of belonging. Consider joining a support group to make new friends. Try to do something you enjoy every day. That might mean dancing, watching a favorite TV show, working in the garden, painting or reading. Find ways to relax, like meditation, yoga, getting a massage, taking a bath or walking in the woods.   Call To Actions: BREAK THE STIGMA TIED TO MENTAL HEALTH, SELF CARE, MENTAL ILLNESS Look for opportunities to practice self care on your own. Give yourself permission to seek support anytime you are your questioning ability or awareness. The episode is packed with noteworthy observations and strong opinions. Notable Facts: September, 1831: Anti-Masonic Party held the first National Presidential Nominating Convention. Back in the time, there were no elections held before the convention and the candidate was selected during the convention. Conventions are designed to sell a specific candidate and give them the opportunity to talk to the masses about their agenda and position on issues. Voters can make an informed decision by hearing the party’s agenda in these conventions. Voters also get to understand what the party’s 5 year and 10 year plans look like. Highlights From The Conventions: The DNC covered issues like a plan to address Covid-19, $15 minimum pay increase, healthcare reforms, and other real life issues. DNC activated the spirit of healing and unity that every American is feeling. There were a significant number of lifelong Republicans at the DNC who endorsed Joe Biden over Donald Trump. Barack Obama spoke about the expectations of leadership in Democracy. Obama believes that Donald Trump has misused and abused the office of Presidency to help him and his friends enrich themselves. RNC nominated Donald Trump as the president. Donald Trump avoided every issue people of colour are facing in America during the RNC. RNC saw a lack of diversity. Black and brown faces were amplified but their thoughts weren’t. RNC took a very aggressive tone. Many speakers spoke directly against peaceful protests. Tapping Into Your Innate Skills in Life and Leadership Learn the inherent skills of women and how to foster those skills in the younger generation The importance of communication, adaptability, prioritization and taking risks  Understanding the generational shift when it comes to collaboration and problem solving Tips for teaching young women to practice using their voice and lean into change Why you need to get serious about asking for help in achieving your personal and professional goals   Episode Summary:  Now more than ever our world needs motivated, passionate, and joyful women. Nobody knows this better than Dr. Marisa Porges, Headmaster at The Baldwin School and Author of the new book What Girls Need: How to Raise Bold, Courageous, and Resilient Women. Dr. Marisa is dedicated to helping parents and educators foster critical 21st-century skills in our girls so that they can recognize their inherent strengths, and prepare them to become the leaders and change-makers of tomorrow. In today’s world, successful people need to be adaptable, prioritize their missions, and let go of perfectionism, all of which are qualities inherently found in women. The challenges that many of us adults see in the workplace could be drastically reduced by teaching children, and girls, in particular, the power of collaboration, empathy, communication, and using their voice to make a difference.  The lessons shared by Dr. Marisa today are applicable to every age group and are all about asking for what you need and building tools that work for you. As women are stepping into leadership roles and ownership more and more, it is all about fostering a sense of confidence from a young age so that this framework becomes the way the next generation of women navigate the world.  Are you ready to guide the future generation of women into power while also supporting women in your own daily life? Share what female role models have inspired you to achieve what you desire personally and professionally in the comments section of the episode page.   Quotes: “I think we often think about the skills you need to lead or run a business or whatever spot you are in in your career. And we think we as women may have a disadvantage, particularly in male-dominated industries or entrepreneurship where there are fewer women statistically speaking. But there are some innate skills that research shows that come naturally to women, that particularly now, and in the years ahead as leadership models change, that will be our advantages.” (7:44) “That looks different for each person, but for women in particular given how many of us rely on people in our lives to level set, in a crisis, you can’t forget that or else you will not support the mission. They go hand in hand.” (14:05) “We often talk about adaptability as resilience in response to a change in difficulty. But adaptability is something we need on a daily basis, even if it isn’t a pandemic.” (16:46) “Having different perspectives on something is where really interesting creative solutions come in, particularly in a time where we are all having to think so outside of the box in how we do not just our work, but live our daily lives.” (23:49) “We need to start when children, girls, in particular, are in elementary school, pre-teen, 10 years old. Teaching them to speak up, speak out, collaborate, empathize, communicate differently, adapt, take risks, and these are the lessons they need when they are young. Because if they practice them then when they are older, it will come naturally.” (34:50)   Resources Mentioned: What Girls Need by Dr. Marisa Porges   Other Resources: Check out the full show notes page Keep up with everything Dr. Mariza Follow Dr. Mariza on Facebook | Instagram | Twitter | Youtube

Share what shocked you most about Dr. Naidoo’s groundbreaking research in the comments section of the episode page.   Quotes: “Nutritional psychiatry is working with someone to feel emotionally better using nutrition and nutritional strategies.” (7:52) “When individuals restrict in terms of a dietary plan, they tend to bounce back and boomerang and do worse after that period of restricting of food. So I would rather give them, on the front end, a lot of options that they can fold into their diet while giving them guidelines are processed food, ultra-processed foods, the hidden sugars in food, etc.” (12:47) “If you are eating poorly, or you are stressed and it affecting your gut, your gut is disrupted, maybe it becomes leaky or inflamed or all of those things together. Serotonin is impacted, therefore your brain is impacted, therefore you may suddenly appear much more anxious. So the moment you can start to correct all of those issues, I see patients really start to feel much calmer and much less stressed.” (17:06) “There are all these disorders in mental health and we wanted to make it user friendly for people. So someone might pick up the book because they have depression. Someone else might pick it up because they are not sleeping well. Someone else might pick it up because they are struggling a little bit with their memory, or someone in their family they have noticed is struggling with their memory.” (27:58)   Resources Mentioned: This Is Your Brain On Food by Dr. Uma Naidoo Dr. Uma Naidoo Website   Other Resources: Check out the full show notes page Keep up with everything Dr. Mariza Follow Dr. Mariza on Facebook | Instagram | Twitter | Youtube
