So happy to welcome Jessica Patching-Bunch back to The Movement and Mindfulness Podcast! Jess joined me back on episode 70 to talk all about stress resilience and today we're picking up the conversation and talking about the internal stress we experience from self-judgement. Self-judgement is a thing. Do you do it? I do. And it can be incredibly stressful. So, what can we do about it?In this episode I chat with Jess and she shares with us:> how self doubt, shame and blame impact our ability to trust that we can manage external threat and stress> how our nervous system 'learns' from our reactions to stress (and how we can use this to our advantage)> the importance of understanding what variables we can manage and how to use the breath to help us manage both our psychology and physiology in response to stress> why practising in the 'off season' can help us in times of stress> why we want to complete the stress cycle daily (and how to do that)> why small windows of time and simple practices count!Tune in to hear our full conversation, then come connect with us and share your thoughts!Find Jess via her website and Instagram and tune into her podcast - Brain Body Resilience and tune into our previous episode of The Movement and Mindfulness Podcast (ep 70)Find Erica via her website, Instagram and Facebook.

Jess Beers life is an adventure…  And she wants it that way.  I catch her in Costa Rica where she has started her next newest venture…  Of course it is fun catching up but then it gets good, real good.  Because when you've worked as a domestic violence counselor to gain some normalcy…  Well you know you've got stories to tell and insights to share.Show Notes:I met jess about 5 or 6 yrs ago at a Kyle Cease flow group in LA…  Which is a 3 day weekend of heavy internal lifting and prep'ing for life's required leaps.  And of course I know Jess is committed to the process because she's flown in from Philly. Is it that weekend that has been cause for all the amazing that is manifesting in her life?  Of course not Mischa!  There are so many uncountable “important pieces of the puzzle” to my life…Somehow we go deep on domestic violence…  Well not somehow, I'll tell you exactly how.  To find normalcy, please her parents, or save the relationship with her child…  She finally puts her college degree to work…  as a domestic violence counselor…  And this is where Mischa starts paying attention, cause the shit gets real.  And she's trying to teach love.  I guarantee you there are lessons for us all.  I ask her is Domestic Violence an addiction for the abuser?  She gives an interesting answer.  And how does one break that cycle?  “If you've seen it, you can imagine it, and it can then manifest in your life”.  “How you were raised is a bitch to get over.”Her book, which is written (a biography), but yet to be published…   Just listen in; you'll be laughing your ass off and begging for a copy, I promise.  And then there is the dream of Costa Rica, of which she has been to many times, and how she finally lands there again is beautiful.  And no mean feat when you have a 13 year old daughter and she is coming with you.  I suppose the real question is who brought who?  …as it goes with Jess, one thing led to another, and now she's never coming back. “I am so beautifully positioned for everything I love in life.”.  “Ask for help out loud and you get it…”  She has had a chance to heal in the slowness.  In the slowness there is so much health. And there's even more, but I'll let you find it…Find Jess's White Lotus Transformation, a fitness studio and health bar in Tamarindo Costa Rica at: (btw not only is it a great place to kick it…  but she will host you for a theme week if you specialize in any of the mindful modalities)  https://whitelotustransformation.com/  On FB: https://www.facebook.com/White-Lotus-Transformation-104021021392851/On IG: https://www.instagram.com/whitelotustransformation/Her personal FB: https://www.facebook.com/jess.beers.3IG: https://www.instagram.com/jessbeers/?hl=enYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6-c1p1uF6aFQP8qxymvs5AStart podcasting!  Get the Shure MV88 mobile mic, you can literally take it anywhere on the fly https://amzn.to/2Mnba3QAccess my “Insiders Guide to Finding Peace” here: https://belove.media/peace    See more resources at https://belove.media/resources.  Email me: contact@belove.media  For social Media:      https://www.instagram.com/mrmischaz/  https://www.facebook.com/MischaZvegintzov    Subscribe and share to help spread the love for a better world! As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

Stress. We all experience it, but how effectively do you manage it?My guest today is stress-resilience coach, Jessica Patching-Bunch - who is on a mission to provide accessible alternative mindcare for women. Translation: She teaches practical approaches to managing stress so you can get out of your own way and create your best life.In our chat, Jess shares:- her own experiences with trauma, stress and loss- the stress-resilience practices she uses and teaches- that the resources we need are within ourselves - we just need to learn to use them- that stress is a normal, expected human experience but that doesn't mean we have to let it 'overwhelm' us - we can learn to manage it- the importance of the breath, mindset and movement in stress-resilience- what 'intentional stress' is and how it can help (cold shower, anyone?!)- why these practices are simple but often not easy (and her own way of staying on track when it feels hard).More about Jess:Tired of being told to “fix your mindset” and simply “have less stress” but never being provided actionable steps, Jessica created a coaching framework that marries research and real life, blending her background in neurodevelopmental science and her experience as a personal trainer. She's presented at neuroscience conferences, spoken to state representatives, partnered with Universities, and from all of this has learned that stress, while complicated, can absolutely be managed and conquered with simple, realistic steps. And she wants to help you do exactly that.If you take nothing else away from this bio, please remember this:It's not who you are that holds you back, it's who you think you're not. Remember who you are and you'll change the game.Find Jess on her website here and on Instagram (@jpb_coaching). Today on the show Jodi interviews Jessica Freeman, author of The Type 1 Life (2018) and the forthcoming The Type 1 Life for Adults (2020). Here are some highlights from their conversation: Jodi and Jess discussed the origin of her book. Jess shared that the idea had a tendency to “word vomit” information anytime she found out someone had been diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. Around the same time as a friend’s 4-year-old daughter was diagnosed, Jess was at a business retreat where she was asked, “If you could write a book about anything, what would it be?” When Jess decided she wanted to educate parents dealing with a new diagnosis, she felt like an easily digestible book was a good format. No one would have the time for a course, but a quick, easy read was a tool that could impact them. Jess noted that the writing was both her favorite and least favorite parts of the process. She used to blog a lot, so the writing came easily to her. She didn’t love organizing the writing and figuring out how much detail she needed in certain parts. Jess shared a few cool things that have happened since publishing The Type 1 Life. Most important to her is the positive feedback and messages from people who’ve shared that the book helped them navigate their child’s diagnosis. The book is doing just what she hoped it would when she was writing! She’s gotten a few speaking opportunities, including an upcoming summit hosted by JDRF. A look at her account on Amazon revealed that she surpassed 1,000 book sales (which is AMAZING!). Jess is active in a few online communities and has noticed more conversations around adults being diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes, so she’s written a second book to speak to that audience. There is some overlap between the two books, but the new book includes information about marriage, parenting, and the workplace. Jess offered two pieces of advice for budding author-entrepreneurs: Have a dedicated writing time (and honor it). Don’t get caught up in how long you feel like your book “should” be and instead focus on your audience and what they need/want from your book. Jess shared that she recently finished (and enjoyed) Company of One by Paul Jarvis. Listen here or on your favorite podcast player, and let me know what you think! The Successful Women Podcast Show with Gill Donnell

Jess started her architectural career by spending a year completing an foundation course in Art + Design at Bournemouth Arts Institute before starting her degree at Manchester University. After completing my Part 1 in 2008 she moved to London for a year where she worked for a small practice called MGL Architects in East London, working on mostly residential projects of varying scales. She then spent a year working abroad in the French Alps, this was to improve her languages as well as enjoying the winter snow. Jess returned to Manchester to complete her post graduate (part 2) in 2010-2012. Following this she moved back to Dorset and started working for Western Design Architects (WDA), where she has now worked for over 4 years. During her time there she has worked on a wide range of projects, including educational, health care and residential, both master planning and self-builds. Whilst working at WDA she has qualified for her Part 3, enabling her to join the ARB and RIBA as a Chartered Architect. Jess continue to enjoy living by the coast in Dorset with her husband and dog.
